Restore iPhone iPhone 4S problem backup old 4 running iOS 7.1.2

Hello

my iPhone 4S recently fell down because of water damage. I was not able to revive. However, luckily I have a very recent backup performed by iTunes. I'm temporarily using an old iPhone 4 for a few weeks now, until I have buy a new phone. I want to restore the backup I made of my iPhone 4s to this old iPhone 4 so I can access my contacts/calendar/photos - as much as the next phone I buy would not be an iPhone. However, when I tried to restore the backup of my 4s to 4 he gave the following error message:

Cannot restore the backup to this iPhone because the software on the iPhone is too old. To restore this iPhone of this backup, you must first set up as new iPhone and restore the software to the latest version.

However, the iPhone 4 is running iOS 7.1.2 and what I can find online, it is not possible to upgrade to iOS 8.

Any suggestions on what I can do to restore my settings for that old iPhone 4? Or how else access my backup content without having to buy a new iPhone?

Much appreciated!

Elise

You cannot restore a backup from a device running a newer version of the iOS to a running a lower version. It is not possible to update the iPhone 4 past 7.1.2. The only way to access the backup is restore on another iOS device.

That said, there are a few 3rd party utilities out there that claim to be able to extract data from a backup that iTunes isn't encrypted. I can't speak to the effectiveness of these.

Your contacts and calendar should have been synchronized to a Cloud Computing service. They should still be there.

Well, if you get the message of iOS, then it means the iOS device is not as recent as the iOS which was used to make the backup. Therefore, you should see if you can connect the device to iTunes and click on update first. Once the iOS is updated, you should be able to access the backup.

  • iPhone charging problems

    Hello

I have an iPhone 6, running iOS 9.3.4 (with the last update August 6, 2016).

Problem: I had problems with the load of my iPhone from these days, I sometimes had to push little difficult cable in the port or adjust a bit kind only then it will load. I thought that it would be little dust in the port of loading, but has not had time to clean it up (even if it's just 5 min of work). Basically I was afraid to put any tiny substance in the port, fearing that I might wear a link inside.

Today, after the last update of iOS, the wound't just phone load. I took it to an apple store, the person there took dust from the port of loading, but it has not yet load. He said that we may need to replace.

Later at home after making a reference to "If your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch won't charge - Apple Support ', I tried to connect to my MacBook air to see if it charges after awhile, but it did not work.

Then I turned the phone off and you press home + sleep together and started the phone and voila my MacBook has detected the phone and he was in charge. However, after that 95% of charge I removed the cable from the phone charger and fixed again to see if the problem persisits and guess what there is not charge again.

I tried the same turn off phone and press home + sleep button phone started to load.

I'm really worried now is this a hardware problem of charging port? Or is this a software problem caused by the last updated?

You updated the phone, using the Wi - Fi option? If so, try again to back to factory settings, using iTunes on your Mac. This will download a new copy of the 9.3.4 and install it on your phone. Restore the backup after that and see if the workload problem is still missing.

In the case of the docking port is always to give you trouble, is then related equipment, given that the firmware has been installed again completely.

Apple does not sell to all parts of the iPhone. The only way you will get an iPhone logic board, is buying a recovered on another phone.

The iPhone is not serviceable by the user.

If you have not been back, the chance you will be able to recover your data is almost zero. You must back up before something goes wrong, not after.

  • iTunes could not back up iPhone because the backup has been corrupted.

OK, Ive never had this problem before. Recently my external hard drive, to store my filled iTunes library. I bought a bigger and did a drag and drop to copy the file to my new hard drive. I'm trying to make backups of my devices, but I get the above error code. Ive been searching for hours for a fix but nothing works.

I went to iTunes > Preferences > devices and I did not all saved backups, which I already knew that, because I had deleted all until I tried the backups.

I tried to find the exact directory of the file on the disk, but there is no, or I don't know what I'm looking for. I tried right click in the window for backups of the device and don't display in the finder, but nothing comes and theres nothing really click on since I already deleted files.

I tried to update iTunes, restart the computer, non-montage and reassembly of the car, I tried 4 different phones, who have all worked in the past, 3 iPhone 6 and 6 s 1 iPhone all running iOS 8.x.x. I was going to update them today, that's why I save, so I want to do this before making the update just in case I lose data.

In addition, iTunes works in all directions. I can sync the devices, but the backup fails, all and by all i mean random songs and videos have worked without error. In addition, Photos will come, also synchronized directly on the external hard drive and has synchronized successfully all my photos of these devices without fail.

The only real problem is to create the backup that I could use for future restoration.

Remarkable, I'm under OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 and iTunes 12.4.2.4 Version

Device backups are not stored in the iTunes folder.

  • iPhone does not backup on iCloud despite the library on

My iPhone is not backup, despite the option is on. He used to work very well with my iPhone 6 and Macboo pro. Now when I get the pictures on my laptop I don't see the new photos.

Please check that your device is correctly connected to the wireless internet (settings > wifi) and is plugged into a power source, check also that you have enough space in iCloud for your back upward.

You can check the space available in settings > iCloud > storage and the space needed for the next backup to the settings > iCloud > storage > Storage manage > backups > appliance > Back Up Options > next backup size (wait for the spinning until the gear icon).

Assuming that you are eligible for iCloud upward, you should try a forced first stop, hold down the buttons side in top and home together until the unit stops, then restart by pressing the side/up button.

Then, try to connect the device to a new location (different WiFi network)

If your backup continues to fail, you can try to disable the backup on your mobile device (settings > iCloud > backup), reboot the device and then turn on BackUp on new.

If this help not disable backup again, remove your existing back to the top of settings > iCloud > storage > Storage manage > backup > this device (scroll down) > delete backup, restart the device and then turn on BackUp.

If you are unable to make a return to the top, try to connect on iCloud (settings > iCloud (scroll down) > Sign Out (you will need to enter your password at this point), restart the device and sign in iCloud to settings > iCloud.)

The next thing to try would be to restore your network settings. (Settings > general > reset > reset network settings)

Reset your network settings will erase your cell phones and wireless network settings, including saved networks, passwords for wifi and VPN settings, that you can use. It will affect to the Internet but will not be an impact on telephone services because these settings are automatically configured by your carrier. It may take a few moments to enter again all your network settings, but it shouldn't cause you any major problems. If you are comfortable re - enter your network settings, you can try this step earlier in the troubleshooting procedure, i.e. after the forced shutdown suggested above.

If this does not help, try to disable some elements for the back upward in a model to try to establish if your problem is caused by specific data on your device. You can do with settings > iCloud > storage > storage management > backup > appliance > Back Up Options.

If you are still not able to perform a backup from iCloud, you can try to restore your phone which you should do by making an iTunes backup via your computer and restore from that.

Be able to go back to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you have access to a computer or rarely have access to one, however unless you need specifically to use iCloud to go back, you'll find a backup on iTunes much more convenient and possibly more reliable. However if you save up to iTunes be sure to encrypt the back upward if you want to keep your data on health and passwords etc.

  • Persistent disconnect is causing iPhone to failed backups

It drives me crazy. I can't save my iPhone 6 (running iOS 9.2.1) to iTunes (v 12.3.2.35 on Mac OS X 10.11.2).) Sooner or later - often, very near the end, according to the blue thermometer at the top of the iTunes page - I get "iTunes could not backup iPhone because iPhone disconnected".

I have google ad nauseam and tried a bunch of things:

    (1) removal of existing backup from iTunes.

    (2) by removing the lockdown folder.

    (3) a new saving account on my iMac.

    (4) try a new USB cable to a port on my iMac.

    (5) restart the iMac and iPhone.

    (6) restart the iMac in safe mode.

    (7) restores the increasingly aggressive iPhone. More recently, in desperation, I deleted completely restored in factory configuration and apps am adding slowly back one by one. (It is a royal pain that has consumed many hours of my life).

A few suggestions more from here: alerts related to solve USB in iTunes - Apple Support

Try the following steps to check the connection between your computer or device. You need only one of these steps to resolve the issue, to test your connection after each step.

    1. Remove any third party battery or case of the unit and check that the USB cable is connected directly to the port of the unit.
    2. Close the applications of virtualization (such as Parallels or VMWare).

These applications may interfere with the ability of your computer to communicate via USB if they are not properly configured, or up to date. If this resolves the problem, contact the developer of the application to see if an update is available.
  • Disconnect other USB devices from your computer except for your keyboard and your mouse. Then, reconnect your iOS device. If the problem is resolved, reconnect the other devices USB one at a time. Make sure that your iOS device is still recognized by the computer after adding back each device.
  • Try another computer
  • If this does not resolve the issue, I would contact Apple Support.

All your media and other data will be erased, and the latest version of the iPhone software will be installed. "I click on the button"restore and Update ".

iTunes then download the latest version of the software. I see it software display extraction > preparing iPhone for restore... > waiting for iPhone...

The iPhone, then displays the Apple logo and progress bar, but the progress bar never fills. Then I get an iTunes error message saying "the iPhone"iPhone"could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (6).

Don't know what I can do since the phone has never been implemented. I can't at all the screens on the phone other than the connection to the iTunes screen and I don't know how to put the phone in DFU as it gives me even never an option to turn off the phone when I hold the sleep/wake button.

I thought about it. Looks like there is a blockage of the restore process to occur due to the network at my work. Once I tried it at home, worked properly. Oddly enough, I was able to restore an iPhone 6 to work, but not the 7 +.
