Restore my computer windows xp to factory setting

I'm trying to restore my computer back to the factory, I have all my backup files. But I do not have a backup for Windows xp disk, will this be a problem? What should I do?

Follow these to whatever your original OEM (Dell, HP, Gateway, Lenovo, etc.) gave to restore back to factory default.  Maybe they had make you the CD/DVD when you first started, could be that they had a partition on the hard disk where you started with a sequence of keys or that they would be sent along to all the media you need.

If you have nothing to mess this upward - call them and see if they will sell you the media you need for a fairly low rate.

Contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

I have an IBM thinkpad with win XP. I restored it back to factory setting. But I couldn't use the mouse more.

    spike88,
If it's a brand mouse, you may need to consult the manufacturer for all drivers that may be required.  If it's a USB mouse then try another port.  You can also update Windows, and then test the mouse.  Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers

  • I think I accidentally restore my computer to its original factory condition and now I can't access my files!

    I have a windows vista

Please elaborate on what you were doing. If, indeed, you have restored the computer to the State as delivered, your user files and applications that you have installed since it was first set up have been removed. They are not simply inaccessible, they are gone. There are various files and partition recovery tools, you could try; However, the disc was heavily rewritten by the restore process. The chances of success are slim.

  • I had to restore my computer windows 7 to a start time, and now I can't access photoshop cs

I tried to access photoshop cs and he asked me to reactivate the program, but the program has not and then I tried to reinstall on Windows 7 Home Edition, but file transfer failed. He wouldn't. I just use cs the other day after I had restored the computer but now all of a sudden it uninstalled itself from my computer and I cannot reinstall it.

Click Start > Control Panel > uninstall programs and see if the cs6 ps is installed.  If this is the case, uninstall using the uninstall program.

Then, run the vacuum cleaner (http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html).

Then, restart your computer and reinstall ps cs6.

  • Need to backup data before restoring my computer with the dell factory restore?

I experienced some problems with windows so I thought to use the system to dell factory restore.
I have actually three drives 1 is for the n other operating system is for my personal data n the last of them is the recovery partition. And now if I want to restore what should I back up my data on the drive that is not involved with the operating system?
Would there be any deletion of my D drive (not used in the operating system)?
Should I have to backup the personal drive (drive D)?
Or should I just format my C drive (with operating system) and data must be assigned on drive D (personal car)?

You should always back up data.

Dell, ask questions about their recovery process.
Their recovery process will be how you bought, with two only the main road and the recovery partition; but not your data partition

Read the info here on how to use the Dell recovery options:

And that way if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive.

I found that I have a virus on my pc. I tried to use recovery tools in the OS partition to reset the computer to factory settings. It keeps giving me an error: access to \Tools\dp.sc was denied, I tried to run as administrator, but still will not work. I tried once again in safe mode, it always gives me an error, but without the sentence or an error number. It just says ERROR. Is there another way to try a factory reset? I have the DVD of reinstalling OS to Vista 32 BIT SP1, but my computer has been upgraded with SP2. Any suggestions?

Hi How can I restore my computer laptop back to factory settings, I have no disk for it since bought used ty

    Hello

There are several methods to reinstall Vista.

There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

"How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246

As you never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

Ask them to the proper key sequence.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs
