Restore the OS not the factory settings

Hello

I have shrunk the drive C and made new partition for DATA.

The Recovery Manager will allow a restore of the operating system to the C drive AND leave the single data Partition - is not factory.

Please can someone tell that the blade H is a 1 TB drive and it will be difficult to save all the data

PC is a Pavilion P6799UK

Thanking you in advance

John

Hi, John:

Most HP PC recovery systems do not give the ability to simply restore the C:\ drive.

Therefore, you can almost count on a recovery to format and re-partition the entire drive and you will lose all the data on it - even on a partition that you create.

  • Blue screen not resolved by restoring the factory settings

    Hello

I have recently been experiencing problems with my iPhone 5. Blue screens were held and has increased the frequency of these blue screens - it has reached the point where you cannot use the phone at all.

I am inclined to believe that it is a hardware failure, as I restored the phone to factory several times, without success. During most of these attempts to fix the phone, blue screens took place during the restore process, leave the phone in recovery mode.

Another reason why I am inclined to believe that it is a hardware failure is due to the fact that sometimes vertical bars appear on the screen of the device, almost as if they are a watermark. To determine whether or not this hardware related problem, I took a screenshot on the phone when he turned on after a blue screen and sent this picture of my brother phone. Vertical lines were not present on the image that he has received, which leads me to believe that there is a hardware failure.

Unfortunately the phone is no longer in warranty, because it is about 2 years old. I was wondering if someone had possible solutions to this, as I tried most of the fixes suggested on various sites without success possible and also if anyone has this kind of problem.

    Alex.

A DFU restore usually recover the phone:

    • Install the latest version of iTunes on your computer, if it is already there ((you must have Windows 7 or later or OS X 10.8.5 version or later version)
    • Restart your computer
    • Disable any antivirus and firewall
    • Launch iTunes
    • Connect the cable of the device to a USB port on the computer (not a USB hub), but DO NOT CONNECT to the DEVICE AGAIN
    • Press in and hold the HOME and SLEEP at the same time for 10 seconds exactly, buttons until the screen goes black, then release the SLEEP button but continue holding the HOME button. If the Apple logo appears then that now the two buttons, you who was held for too long; start over.
    • While holding down the button HOME connect the other end of the cable to the device
    • You should see a message in iTunes saying there were a phone in recovery mode (it can take up to a minute for the message appears). When you see this message release the HOME button and the device must be restored. When asked DO NOT restore a backup. set up as a new phone.

Try several times, if this does not work the first time; It is difficult to do in DFU mode.

    Hi stab them.

I think that I n the new good t for you: restore factory settings without Toshiba recovery disc isn t possible in your case! :(

First of all I think it's normal to s no recovery disk is delivered with the laptop as you will need to create them yourself using the Toshiba recovery disc creator. That is why it s recommended using high quality as Verbatim DVD-R media.

I think that the only option to recover to factory settings is to order a new Toshiba recovery disc.
    https://backupmedia.Toshiba.EU/landing.aspx

I put t understand why you didn't create this disk, because after the first boot, if you shut down the computer area, you get the following message:

+ your system is equipped with a hard drive recovery system. If you need repair.
+ your computer in the restaurant to original factory State, you can do it directly.

+ and follow the instructions in the menu) or create a media drive bootable recovery to that end. +.

+ Toshiba recommends you create recovery disk medium uses the "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator' to ensure the +.

Fact by following the instructions; Insert the first disc (later tried both without success) in the external optical drive, which recognized the drive but do nothing outside to show me the content.  It there is no setup.exe and the disc is no not no matter what autorun.

The computer works fine, just a bit slow, especially when you turn it on, so I don't want to plant it, but I don't want to clean it up.

    Hello:

You do not have the Windows Recovery discs.

You must boot from the first floppy and follow the instructions on the screen.

The best way to do that is to insert disk 1 into the DVD drive, reboot the laptop.

At the beginning of the HP welcome screen, press the F9 key to start the start time menu.

Select the DVD drive, and then press the Enter key.

The PC should then attempt to boot from the DVD.  A message may appear on the screen that says basically «try to boot from DVD...» Press any key to boot from the DVD... »

Press a button and the PC should then read the DVD, and you can follow the instructions on the screen.

After the PC is done with disc 1, it will be ejected and invites you to remove disk 1 and insert disk 2.

Based on the key F9 does not launch the only time where Start menu, and then press the ESC key and then select the options menu start.

THANKS A MILLION!  Worked perfectly and absolutely right.  I didn't know the F9 option.

  • Reset to the factory settings without restoration. Why do I see previous contacts?

    I have a new 5 iPhone.

I added 6 contacts, 2 new downloaded applications. Saved on iCloud and iTunes.

I had a very old Apple ID with an email address that I no longer use.

I created a new Apple ID online by using this:

Change your Apple - Apple Support ID

Probably because of something, that I was wrong, there is a conflict between this new Apple ID and one on my iPhone.

No problem. Because I only had 6 contacts and two additional applications, I decided to reset to the factory settings. I do NOT accept the offer to restore a backup.

So I guess I now have a new phone out-of-the-box.

In fact, my 6 contacts were always present. The two extra apps were not present.

I would be very grateful if someone could explain why the 6 contacts are always present.

I wonder how many other things could be hiding somewhere, which would not be present out-of-the-box.

You can use a computer and connect to https://www.icloud.com/ and check the Contacts app it (under the two identifications of Apple as I'm not sure of the exact sequence of events that you did). If they are there and if you have settings > iCloud > Contacts under tension, which could explain from whence they came. With this setting, any changes to the Contacts is immediately synchronized between iCloud and the phone as soon as it is connected to iCloud.

  • Cannot restore to the factory settings

I have the Acer Aspire 7741z laptop. The computer has frequent problems, and I want to restore it defaults. I've already saved important files and had planned to do a full restore to the factory settings, but the eRecovery program does not work for me. It starts the process, says that it needs to restart, check I want to replace the data on the hard drive and restarts. The problem is, it just restarts. No recovery process, no reset factory default. Alt + F10 during boot process does nothing.

I checked the partitions still exist, and I made no changes to the system since the purchase (about formats, etc.). Of course, I'm no longer under warranty period, it seems getting direct support from Acer is not going to happen.

If anyone can help? I really want to restore this laptop to its default settings.

  • After a restore to the factory settings, where personal files are?

I recently had a problem on my laptop (gateway) that prevents Windows to boot the system.  I went through the automatic tests on splash screens.  Files were good, the disk check was good, went to a restore point, but still was not able to start.  I got a message that there was no specified "configuration change".  So I chose the option to restore factory settings.  I didn't need a disk to do - it took place without no boot disk required.  There was a message related to the restoration who said that my files could be stored on the hard drive partitioned part.  I couldn't get to my personal files anyway, so I decided to take the chance to do the restore and hope that Windows would save my stuff.  Well, Windows is running, but I can't find my files.  The page of my computer shows 2 hard drives, 'Local' and 'Recovery', but I don't know how to access recovery or if my files are still there.

Is there a chance that my stuff is still in this machine, or I'm just the GROUND?

Thanks in advance for any kind souls who can solve the riddle!

    Hello

"Recovery" partition will be the software that was used to perform the recovery to factory settings.

We should never touch except to make recovery disks, failure of hard disk for you to reinstall Vista on a new hard drive.

Windows does not save your data when you perform a restore to the factory settings.

Your recovery software factory settings is provided by the gateway.

It is an Option in their software.

It is the gateway to this topic information.

    "Restoration with automatic data backup.

    http://support.gateway.com/s/software/MICROSOF/Vista/7515418/7515418su532.shtml

All files and existing files are copied to the C:\Backup folder on the hard drive and a new copy of Windows is installed.

You will need to contact Gateway Support and ask them where to find your data saved their recovery process if the information above did not save where gateway said it would.

    http://support.gateway.com/us/en/support/default.aspx

    See you soon.
