Hi guys,.

If I'm trying to restore my oracle 9i database (250 gb) with the backup of the BCV, how long can be need to restore me with BCV.

After that, I want to update my database to 11g. WHT will be my down time for these two tasks.

    Hello Experts,

    I'm a newbie with a lot new in Oracle. I got the backup inc0 (which includes even backup controlfile) (PROD) production base taken by RMAN and asked to create a new test database (TEST) by using the backup. Can someone please give me the steps on how to restore and create the new database?

    I am aware of the concept of duplicated with RMAN database, but I was asked to do not connect to the target (PROD) database while duplicating. So, I need to create the test database using the prod database backup without being connected to the PROD database. Please guide me.

  • Cannot restore Windows 7 from backup image

    I created an image of Windows 7 Pro SP1 and recorded on the D partition on the same drive. I also created the CD boot recovery during this process.
    When I boot on the restore CD, I have the opportunity to select the image that I saved to D, but it says windows cannot be restored as backup is located on the same drive and the system needs to format the entire disk. I copied the entire image (about 30 GB) USB drive, and then click Start Restore CD. Now when I browse the path on the USB disk to the backup that has been copied from original source, it says not found backup files. What is the problem? backup folder everything is there.

    Thank you, Frederik, place the folder "WindowsImageBackup in the root of the drive D:\ solved the problem.

  • RMAN Duplicate Database from backups without a target without a catalog.

    I apologize if this has been posted before, although I couldn't find in the forums.
    We are currently on 11 GR 1 matter of database and currently implementing RMAN backup and restore.
    We have databases of test periodically refresh us sources of production for our clients on a regular basis (exp / imp currently). As with general practice, these test reside on a different server.
    I have been through a lot of documentation on RMAN and I have several questions regarding the creation of a database of duplicate backup copies (backup of level 0 currently) without a target database and catalogue (No. Duplication Active)

    We have Oralce files managed, implemented.

    (1) RMAN requires a database for replication?
    The reason I ask this question, it is only
    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B28359_01/backup.111/b28270.PDF Chapter 23, 23-13/23-14. Alll indicate that need a target.

    (2) if there is No target, then setting SPFILE used the backup SpFILE?

    (3) what are recommended approaches.

    (4) what is the command for the simple reproduction of backup without purpose and without catalog

    Thank you

    'Target-free' RMAN duplication is a feature of 11 GR 2:

  • Bounce the database from backup

    Hello

    I use oracle10g with database pending. Here is the version of database.

    Oracle Database 10 g Enterprise Edition release 10.2.0.3.0 - 64bi
    PL/SQL version 10.2.0.3.0 - Production
    CORE Production 10.2.0.3.0
    AMT for Linux: release 10.2.0.3.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 10.2.0.3.0 - Production

    Now, I want to increase the number of processes in the primary database. Primary needs downtime. But in this case, do I bounce the day before?

    Let me ask my questions here.

    1 should I I bounce the day before to this scenario?

    2 here are the commands and the sequence of steps to stop and start the database. Please correct me if I'm wrong...

    2 (a) stop of the standby database first. (run this command at the secondary level)

    Connect / as sysdba
    SQL > ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE CANCEL;
    SQL > shutdown immediate

    2 (b) primary stop (run this command in the primary)

    SQL > ALTER SYSTEM SET PROCESSES = 999 SOPE = spfile;
    SQL > SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE

    2 c) primary startup

    SQL > STARTUP

    beginning 2d) the secondary database

    Connect / as sysdba
    startup nomount
    ALTER DATABASE MOUNT STANDBY DATABASE;
    ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY BASE DISCONNECT FROM THE SESSION.

    (3) after starting the database, how can I make sure, primary is on sale the archivelog in high school?

    Any help is appreciated...

    The backup database can be upward as you restart the primary database - which is not a problem.

    Just compare V$ MANAGED_STANDBY standby with V$ log primary: sequence # process MRP with APPLYING_LOG status must be equal or close to the sequence # who is CURRENT in V$ LOG of primary.

    You must also set the parameter to the eve with scope database = spfile. So after a failover or a passage, the setting is the same on your new primary database.

  • Select the flashback in my database from backup

    Hello

    Can I activate flashback in my database waiting without primary database?

    I need to convert standby database snapshot one.

    Best Regads.

    Hello

    Yes you can.

    To create the snapshot in the standby mode, you create guaranteed restore point. To create the restore point Flashaback must be enabled in the database.

  • Restore the database to 10.2.0.1 (should I restore old saved oraInventory)?

    Hello everyone;

    Hello!  Hello all;

    If the upgrade process fails, should I restore old oraInventory directory?

    Already I have saved $ORACLE_HOME, oraInventory and consistent copy of the data files, controlfiles and redo log files.

    I restored $ORACLE_HOME and consistent copy of the data files, controlfiles and redo log files.

    Once again, should I restore (old oraInventory saved) directory?

    Thanks in advance...

    There are two parts to your upgrade-

    1. install the 10.2.0.4 patch on top of the binary 10.2.0.1 - you must save $ORACLE_HOME and oraInventory directories before applying the patch - if the binary upgrade fails for any reason, you can restore the ORACLE_HOME and oraInventory to backups and re-apply the binary 10.2.0.4.

    2 If the above step is successful, then you must update the database using DBUA. Yet once, before you begin the upgrade, you back up the database. If there are problems during this part, you simply restore the database from backup and re-run the upgrade.

    You can certainly use two separate houses if you wish. In this case, the first step would be to clone the 10.2.0.1 existing HOUSES a new 10.2.0.1 see HOME - cloning an Oracle Home

    Once completed the clone, and then use the two steps above on the newly created HOUSE

  • ORA-01103 - restoration of database for the new name.

    Hi, I am looking to restore a database from a backup to cold. RMAN is not, it is just a backup of operating system level.

    The technical details are
    Windows 2003
    Oracle 11.1

    What has happened is - I upgraded our database of development of 11.1, 11.2 and we discovered a bug, so I want to restore the database in the instance of 11.1. Version 11.2 of the database is running, people use, we have a work around, so I can't delete this database. What I want to do is create a new instance to 11.1 restore all files/etc/files of control data, the file of configuration settings and start the database, of course I had to use another name.

    However, the problem I see is
    ORA-01103: name of the 'ALPHA' database in the control file is not "ALPHADB". ALPHADB is the new database. I thought to do the backup to retrace and recreate control files, but I can't mount the database. I did "backup to trace" on the OLD database.

    Advice please?

  • Help to restore my database :(

    Oracle 11g R2 (standard edition) running on Windows 2008.

    Right, I have the following problem. Via business manage I configured a complete work of RMAN database copy (HOT BACKUUP). The backup process and completes successfully. It's the backup script

    $rman_script = ' backup of database device type disk tag "% TAG ';
    backup disc tag '% TAG' type device archivelog all not saved delete all entries;
    ";
    & br_save_agent_env();
    & br_prebackup ($l_db_connect_string, $l_is_cold_backup, $l_use_rcvcat, $l_db_10_or_higher, $l_backup_strategy, "TRUE");
    my $result = & br_backup();
    Exit ($result);

    Now, the problem is when it comes to restore the database from the backup. As a test, I moved the backup files to another server and tried to restore the database.
    Once on the server, I run the following command
    SET ORACLE_SID = IFSPROD
    RMAN
    TARGET CONNECTION.
    STARTUP NOMOUNT;
    RESTORE CONTROLFILE TO ' *'
    To the point, it very well... because it restores the control files. Then I deliver
    SET DBID *.
    BOOTABLE MEDIA;
    RESTORE THE DATABASE;

    At this point, it restores the files of database ok... That's what it ends

    channel ORA_DISK_1: backup F:\BACKUP\RMAN\SETS\EPNLUGI5_1_1 piece reading

    channel ORA_DISK_1: restore complete, duration: 01:56:26

    Then I run this command

    Recover the database;

    And this is where it starts to go wrong

    RMAN > restore database;

    So if I take a full backup and all the backup sets are present (when I restore) why I am I get this error.

    If I should have to restore the database because a job fails, do I restore the database from a backup?

    Could I just restore the backup control file and then run rman > recover database until the SNA = 122222222; If Yes, how Rman knows what archivelogs to restore and what happens if SNA has not been archived yet?
