retore point system

When I try to do a system restore, error manifests no restore points have been created.  When I try to create one, and then name it. When I restart the computer and try again, nothing shows and get the same message. "no restore points were created?

If you have not enough free space in C drive, System Restore will not work. Ensure that at least 20 GB/10% of your total capacity of the C drive is free for the restoration of the system work.

I had a problem connecting with my profile today, get it fixed. It made me think what are important files which should I back up? If I create a restore disc, will be if give me a copy of my registration, profiles, retore point, etc? I looked online and found information about creating a backup, but lets say a windows file gets corrupted, or my user account, etc. Is there a way I can get this saved?

My data is backed up using Mozy, so I'm not worried about the loss of data. Want just a way to easily get Windows operational return. Thank you.

  • Why Software Distribution 3.0 appears on my Microsoft (restore point) system restore almost every day?

original title: software distribution service 3.0

Why Software Distribution 3.0 appears on my Microsoft (restore point) system restore almost every day?  What is it?

The Software Distribution Service 3.0 Restore Point is created when new Microsoft updates are downloaded and installed.

Depending on the configuration of your system, the updates can be downloaded and installed automatically as we never see what is happening.

For example (this is what I usually see), if you use Microsoft Security Essentials and an update of MSE comes out every day, you can't "see" anything on your system to tell you about this, but when the ESM update is installed, a new called Restore Point "Software Distribution Service 3.0" will be created. "

If MSE gets several updates per day, you will see a new PR of 3.0 SDS created for each of them, so it would be possible to have several SDS 3.0 Restore Points per day.  Alternatively, you can have one for MSE and another for some other day.  Some days you won't see any SDS 3.0 created restore points.

Of course, there are other reasons, you might see a new SDS 3.0 Restore Point and you might be curious to know what is all just never one see you.

Among the technical support engineers Microsoft will surely be able to tell how to look at each new SDS 3.0 Restore Point you have and tell you how to determine exactly what was in this update of the Software Distribution (if you're curious).

The reason in question do not contain the required information may be because there is no incentive to enter the required information when you create a new question.

The odds on this planet someone reading "How to ask a question" before asking a question are extremely unlikely, therefore (if the forums wanted more useful), the forums Microsoft Answers would invite for information, when a new question is asked.

Even the discussion in the article "How to ask a question" is quite ridiculous that it does not describe the same basic information that should be in a new topic.

This gross oversight in the way the new positions are created in these forums in frustration results, guess, lost time and wasted cycles then message that this information is being collected.

  • Flexfield investigation point system

    Nice day!

I have been instructed to set the key flexfields for inventory - points system, they need 3 segments for this... more, the value of each depend on the value of the other. For example, segment1 is 00001, segment2 is 00, segment3 is 00. When the value of segment1 maxed out (99999) the nearest segment1 value must be reset to 00001 then segment2 would be incremented to 01. and so on and so forth.

    e.g. segment1.segment2.segment3

  • have windows vista Home premium need help to repair corrupted disk OS (C) files because I can create system retore point. Help, please!

Hello, I own XPS 1530. I get a screen showing errors on the c drive, which can only be fixed after a restart, but they are not fixed no matter how many times I reboot. I did the command-line as administrator then SFC/scannow. at the end of the scan he says that some problems are not fixed. Theres be a way I can have these scanned/fixed disks at startup and avoid this nonsense altogether. Does anyone know how to fix this? I thank very you much for your time and help!

I reinstalled windows by dvd. A dell technician got on my comp. Dell connect and helped me to reinstall windows. It's the only thing that worked.apparently, I got a bad installation to try to do a restore to factory before. Thank you for your response.

  • PC "not responding" after starting a restore point system & does not stop

I'm running a restore system (Vista Ult) point and PC "unresponsive".  Is it safe to disable or reset manually?  What problems could result if I just press reset?  System retore worked for 4 hours now!

    All advice is appreciated!

This is far too long to make it work - it froze.  Alternatively, you can press reset if you have such a button on your system (didn't on mine) or you can press on and hold the power button until the system stops (this is not really good for the system and should not be done normally, but you have no choice in this situation).  Then restart it and log in again and try to make the system back restore point.  This time start by disabling your AV software as this sometimess interferes with the process.  Do not open anything else while the system can focus on the creation of the restore point.

If it freezes again (the process should take 30-45 minutes maximum), then again and restart in clean http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/929135?p=1 mode and try to restore the system from there.  If it works, use the procedures in the article to find the cause of the problem with the process, and remove, delete, disable or uninstall. Once that is done, don't forget to restore the system to normal status according to procedures.

If it still does not in cleaning mode, try to start in safe mode (repeatedly on the F8 key during startup until the menu appears), and try to create the restore from there point (if it will let you - I'm not sure that's possible in safe mode (, but it's worth a try).  If it works, at least you have a method to bypass the creation of restore points.  Then we' ill have to work out why it doesn't work in normal mode but let's first.

I hope this helps.  Post back and let us know how it goes anyway.

    Good luck!

  • Restore points system & using the applications of optimization/defragmentation

RE: System Restore & use 3rd party defragmentation & software optimization with XP Pro

How a system restore point previously affected by the future use of defragmentation/optimization?

that is, can 'restore you still successfully' points implemented before execution of programs of optimization/defrag on your hard drives?

I heard this interview can damage the restore points beyond their ability to recovery/restoration with some Windows operating systems

    Hello cdbob

    I never heard this theory.

I used the party defragmenters 3 years and have never had a problem to do a system restore

    .

  • Backup Windows and Protection/restoration of the point system failed to create (Vista32 Ultimate).

I noticed this problem a few days ago.  I don't know what could have caused the system to change behavior. The last good backup comes from 26/12/2010.  Protection system reports find no restore point on the disk (System), used for the creation of these previoiusly.

After reviewing some of the other threads on this site describing similar problems, I tried some of their recommendations without success (e.g. restoration rotating on and outside, software disabling AV and security, clean the system with Malwarebytes [he found something called "Closetmaid" and deleted] and Prevx, run CheckDSK, run the System File Checker [which is not able to fix the Desktop.ini but nothing else I've seen]) , and, of course, punctuated by reboots.

The behavior of the System Protection tool is it hangs at the opening for about 2 hours. or while displaying the message "searching for restore points.  Once completed, it lists the system drive and the external backup drive and no restore point (they were taken on the system drive).  The system drive is checked.  Select "Create" translates into another hit hour 2 or more, followed by nothing, either the error 81000101 - timeout.  Unchecking the system drive and clicking 'Apply' committed another shot of 2-3 hours, which finally ends.  However, the complete tool never leave once you click on 'OK '.

Backups performed for 20 initial minutes indicating approximately 20% of step and then simply stroll.  Each progresses of appearance (after some previous attempt of sanitation) running at exactly the same progression bar position before the hanging.  After a few hours, the backup process error 8004230F.  All the normal things have been verified.  The backup volume has enough free space (and was CheckDSK'ed, as well as the volume of the system being backed up properly), volume shadow copy service is started and running and its dependent services, RPC and DCOM are launched and running.

I noticed another suggests to fix vssui.dll in another thread (http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistainstall/thread/9a7621ba-4cef-4264-a90c-87209e7e7d60) that I have not been able to apply and which is the re-registration of a series of dll, among them. I have no copy of vssui.dll on my system to record. It is listed under a Vista32 thread so I guess I should have it.

Other problems reported in the execution of the dll Re-recordings suggest the thread above were:

    (1) "ole32.dll module was loaded but the call to DLLREgisterServer failed with error code 80070005.

    (2) ' module loaded but the call to DllInstall eventcls.dll failed with error code 8000FFFF.

    (3) "es.dll loaded module, but the entry point DllRegisterServer was not found."

    (4) 'module vssui.dll failed to load."  Please make sure that...

    The other steps were successful.

I had this problem also (Win 7 Pro) on the new installation.  As others have said that it is through the VSS (Volume Shadow Service) feature be corrupted.

In my case, it was because of software that included drivers for my motherboard.  There is a backup/restore utility which took control of the "false" Windows Restore and VSS feature & backup of MS of the system.

Go to the system event log and sort through VSS.  Then search for errors on the VSS or the backup.  Is particularly important to look at the "Information" events that led to the error.  They are more revealing than the error itself real.  The error is misleading for me.  In any case, look in the Inbox details information for the process that was involved.  My bet is that you need a 3rd part/application that needs to be removed.

I have fought with this problem for weeks and stumbled on the errant software.  I did not intentionally install it.  So look for software that could have been bundled with other applications or drivers.

    Good luck

You use system restore to get rid of the virus.

    Hello

You will be able to perform a system restore to a restore point created or present on the system. If you have no restore point created before the questions, then you will not be able to restore it.
