Return to Windows XP, Vista

Hi I have a computer on which I've upgraded to Vista some time ago. Now, I need to go back to XP (if possible) to run a business application that does not work on Vista or Windows 7. The computer was initially equipped with XP. I hope someone here can guide me through this. I looked at my restore points, but there is nothing that far back. I have typo Vista home SP1. Thank you!!

If you do not have the XP disc:

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s XP set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

Save all your data because it will be lost during the installation of XP.

Then follow the steps below to do a clean install.

http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sg_clean.asp

Once installed, reload ALL your other programs of original media, or download again.

Reload all drivers and utilities for your motherboard.

  • Where can I get windows 7/Vista?

Hi, I have a computer that is running windows 7, and I want to restore it to factory settings, but I need a recovery image. You can get one a download of microsoft with the original product key, except that my computer came originally installed with windows Vista, so I don't have a windows 7 product key. What can I do?

    Help is appreciated, thanks.

If you need just to reinstall Windows 7, there is no need to return to Windows Vista, reinstall Windows 7.

If you do not have your Windows 7 product key, you will need to buy a new one. If Windows 7 is installed, you can try to recover the product key:

Here are four utilities, which can display your product keys if they are still there:
    Belarc Advisor: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
(He did a good job of providing a wealth of information.)

    Also: http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml
    and: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/product_cd_key_viewer.html
and RockXP: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4138.html which has additional features

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:

How to: What are my options for Windows 7 reinstall media?

What to do if you cannot get your manufacturer recovery media, refuse to use or to buy it or the Microsoft Software Recovery Website does not work?

  • I have to install windows XP/vista before installing windows 7 on my iMac?

I have an iMac OS x Lion, Im trying to install Windows XP/vista or Windows 7 on my iMac using bootcamp or / or Parallels Desktop. Help please!

For iMac owners, it is recommended that you use a full version of Windows 7. Because the recent models of Mac does not support older versions of Windows like XP or Vista, you might be in a bit of a problem. Try the following and see if it works:

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD

    Click Install now

    Accept the license agreement

When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

    Click on drive Options

Select the disc/s click on Delete

    Click new

    Click on apply

    Click OK

Click Format, and then click next to proceed with the installation

Skip entering your product key Windows 7 and complete the installation.

When you reach the desktop, click Start, right-click on computer

    Click on properties

Scroll down to the Windows Activation

Click the link x days before activation.

Click on the link that says: "show me other ways to activate.

    Enter the product key

    Click next

Select the Activation of the phone

Click Next when you enter your key page

    Select your country

Click Next, call the number listed

Be sure to explain your situation to the Appeals Officer.

Provide the installation generated when ID requested by the call agent

They give a confirmation ID in return, enter it

Click next to complete the activation.

However, the requirements for the media upgrade is that you have an operating system already eligible such as Windows XP or Vista installed to use it. Since the Windows 7 end user license agreement.

15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.

So, if you are always denied, you will just have to reinstall Windows XP or Vista and let it do the verification of eligibility.

    or

How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)
