Reviews for Turbo Memory hard disk cache

What advantage does? Is it just fluff?

The on-board hard disk cache is not enough? If this is not the case, if it really made something, why would it not longer than 8 MB?

I don't see any other companies offering this option and can not find much information about it.

There someone? Someone is taking it seriously?

Thank you

I had my T500 built with the Intel 2 GB Turbo Memory Cache on the hard drive. I think I read somewhere (help me decide of information on the web site of the order) that it would make the faster boot process. The only way I found to confirm that it is already installed is shown in disk management as disk 0, online, Simple layout, Type is Basic, no Volume Information and the Staus is Healty (Primary Partition). While I am waiting on my W7 upgrade appears I thought try and discover how to use this option. Any suggestions on where I can find documents of reference on how to use this feature or understand how it is being used with Vista Ultimate? TIA for any help.

I answered my own questions after doing further research. For those who don't want to not pass the time here is what I discovered. This option is basically a 'Dear' flash player which is used to "ReadyBoost". Supported Vista ReadyBoost is considered lame by all those who blog about it. Support of Windows 7 ReadyBoost is a little more robust IMHO you can do just as well with a key of 8 or 16 GB and spend much less than the cost of the in-house option of Lenovo.

The same technique should also work for Vista.

  • Space filling without reason for memory/hard disk

I am working with a large file MS Word (currently, it is great close to 1 GB) and every time I use the file or open it in preview, my computer crashes, slows down, and the amount of disk space hard be used rapidly decreases.  I started with 10 + GB of free space, now I'm less than 2 and get the computer error messages telling me that my hard drive is almost full.  I do not know how to find the files that are clearly in place so I can delete them.  Display hidden files did not reveal anything.  It got to the point where I can open is no longer the large file the computer tells me that the file is damaged.  Reboot does not restore the lack of available disk space.  I am at my wit's end and that you have already removed many other video files and photo I can to free up space.  If not for this problem, I'm sure I'd have at least 20 GB of free space now.  What I can do to understand where space and eliminate permanently?  I need at least another hour to continue working on this issue!

Starting with the system will create a swap file at least as large as the file being opened. If changes are made then these files will usually stick around as auto-enregistre until the file itself is saved or closed. It is also possible that the large file pushes the other system processes in virtual memory on the disk. That said, unless there are compression/decompression funky stuff going on that I can't imagine a 1 GB file to consume more than 10 GB in "temporary" resources

I would like to check the status of the Application ~/Library/Caches/ and ~/Library/Saved / for the missing hard drive space (you may need to use the GoTo option in the Finder).

Usually nothing deleted in the above locations will be automatically recreated when you next run of the corresponding application, but clearing out rarely used application files could release (temporarily) a little extra space. Destruction can also solve problems of application-specific file corruption.

Otherwise double check that you remembered to empty the trash.

  • Satellite P30 - is there room for two physical hard disks?

Is there someone who can tell if the satelit P30 has room for another hard drive?

(I was able to open it, but hesitate!)

    Hello

Some laptops are supported a selectbay option to use for example a second HDD or a player.
Unfortunately, the Satellite P30 doesn t support this. If you want to have more HARD disk space, you can buy a larger HARD drive or you are using an external USB HDD.

  • Replacement for HP G62 hard disk recovery

    Hello

I've seen other similar users have reported this problem but am not finding an answer that would solve my problem.  Having a laptop of HP G62-355DX under Windows 7 Home Premium, the hard drive turned be default via diagnostic codes and by calling the HP technical support to confirm.  The mfr/size of the existing hard drive is a Samsung 320.   Bought a new Seagate 1 TB of Best Buy.   I have 4 HP recovery disks.  Through the specified process for the recovery of the system, but once reached the end of it when the display shows "Preparation of recovery is complete:

.. When the portable computer is restarted, it appears with the message no boot device is (and the hard drive for laptop boot option is enabled in the BIOS).

Am stuck at this point;  supposedly, more large drives are supposed to work but is at - it a known issue?  I've seen references to one for different situations in these forums (for a desktop PC, for example).

Or do I have to repartition the hard drive into two partitions, a 320GB and everything else - use someone elses of the Microsoft Windows 7 OEM CD?

I do not have the Microsoft Home Premimum disc of course, only the HP recovery discs.

The new hard drive sometimes requires to prepare first with utility cd from Cyberlink. Download and save the file. Once the download is complete, place a blank cd in your drive and click on the downloaded file to create a boot cd. Start with this cd and wait until you get a green check mark indicates the hard disk is ready. Remove the cd, insert the first disc of recovery and restart the laptop.

  • I need the driver for my external HARD disk drive

    Hi how are you?

Well, I would like to know I do an external drive using the portable hard drive whose name is "Toshiba MK8034GSX" which is with a capacity of 80 GB.
A few days back I plugged to the USB port with my pc but after that it says need driver and I n t have the HARD disk driver.

So kindly if anyone has the driver or know the link where I can find the driver then tell me I will be very grateful to you all.

    With regard to:

    Martine André

    Hello

    What is a USB HDD?
You n t need any driver, and there is no drivers for an external USB HDD.

The USB driver is part of the Windows OS and it s already installed.
The USB HDD must be fitted with a plug & play device which means that should be recognized automatically after you connect to the laptop USB port.

What OS you have and what laptop is it?
The operating system is up to date?
USB ports are correctly listed in the Device Manager?

  • Best replacement for HITACHI_DK23EB-40 HARD disk drive

    Hello

I have a DELL Latitude C840 of 2002, which is equipped with a HARD of HITACHI_DK23EB-40 (40 GB) drive.

The laptop worked fine except lately there have been serious buzz the internal drive of Hitachi.

I guess its time to replace this drive. So, I'm looking for a new drive for replacement for this drive.

What are my options for the new HARD drive?

    Thank you

    Avinash

Age has nothing to do with a failure of the drive.  However, if you have money burning a hole in your Pocket , almost any laptop IDE drive (2.5 ") will not work. Micro Center is a decent number of IDE disks. EBay is another place.

  • Is Satellite X L855-10 supports a Bay for a second HARD disk drive

10 - L855 X have an empty slot to add the SSD drive, without removing the current HARD disk?

    Hello

In my opinion, the 2nd HDD or SSD disk is not supported.
You can use the HARD drive, or you can try to replace with a compatible SSD 1 TB HARD drive. But the use of HDD and SSD drive to one and same time is not possible.

  • Question of memory/hard disk drive

For starters, I own a HP Pavilion dx6000. I have for a few years now and the memory starts to become a little on the full side. I did disk cleaning and was able to free space. But, I noticed that more of my C drive there is a D drive which is completely empty.

My question is, I am able to use the disc in the same way that I used C or something less desirable outcome?

And if I can use it, is there something I need to do with it in order to make usable?

    Thanks in advance

Yay! That is, you have a second hard drive D: for storage, you can store all the files that you want to this topic.

  • NB200-110 HARD disk cache

    Hi @all,
My problem is the disk HARD is not visuable by Ghost or simular Backupsoftware, when I started the software via the external device, such as CDs or a stick.
I tried several times with BartPE or the Symantec Ghost bootable CD, no succsess.
The reason for my Question is, I will soon install Win7 on this Netbook and I will have the opportunity to go back to my XP orginate.
And by the way, a full backup of my HDD Netbook will help me sleep better.
    If anyone can help?
    THX in advance
    Ciao, peter

PS. Sorry for my pidgen English, German Ia´m and I do not have the opportunity to speak or write in English. :-))

    Hi peter

I had a similar problem and the reason was that I do not forget to integrate SATA drivers. As the user above writes Windows doesn t have this included driver so that you need to incorporate this driver yourself. You need the Storage Manager you can download here:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

In addition, you can find it here in the forum of hundreds of discussions on the Storage Manager help. Check it!

  • w540 replace the cd for a second hard disk drive?

    Hello

I ordered the thinkpad w540 last week. With a dirve normal hard drive and a CD compartment. I figured out after the arrivied to the computer I got a solidsate inside my xps 15 hp.

In the best of cases, I would replace the CD drive, as says the config in the web page in timeline option could be done. How could I know if it is possible to replace the CD player with another hard drive?

Otherwise I would try to replace the original disk for the solid state hard drive, but in this case I loose windows system 8. Is is possible to install again in the new hard drive with the same license?

I was wondering just because it would be nice to keep the drive inside your computer instead of having to plug it in all the time, due to the faster speed, it would be good to use is as the primary dirver.

    Thanks in advance,

    -Jorge

    Hi, Jorge

you will need an adapter "caddy" to house the second HDD/SDD. Ch right here in the forum, see http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/forums/searchpage/tab/message?location=forum-board%3AW_ThinkPads&q=caddy... .

For my W540, I use the caddy of http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=555 and have a very good experience over the years (W510, W520, W540...).

Regarding replace drive HARD original with SSD, there are basically two possibilities - either you use the recovery option (create your own media - see google or trying to get a Lenovo - not sure it will work) or use a transfer software. I have used for years Acronis products, especially because it acknowledges the SSD and aligns everything as it should on SSD (won't go now too deeply in the alignment of industry and to this day).

And if you want to run your W540 on steroids, alias max possilbe storage capacity, see my signature...

  • How to copy "c" for the largest hard disk drive?

My 'c' drive is full, and I need to move to a bigger drive. They do a free program like superduper for mac? I don't want to go through the hassle of reinstalling xp and everything.  My xp disk is one of the originals and it takes forever to do all updates.  I was amazed when I found a FREE Mac program that copied the disc to start on another drive, nothing for mac is free.  Now, to find the same thing for windows.
    Kurt

my suggestion is probably the easiest method without hassle by simply installing this new HDD as slave disk because all motherboards can handle at least two hard drives.

(Incidentally, hard drives have few riders can designate the device as a master or slave).

the main drive with the operating system is the master, and you can leave it as what.  No software purchase, no worries with imaging or backup and no formatting.

the second hard drive, IE. your new hard drive will be the slave drive.  then, you can move all your personal files from the master to the slave.

by moving and separating your personal data system data, you relieve your master drive with as the abundance of data and establish a methodology that will preserve your personal files where system drive is damaged.

If you do not use the method described above, I can share the steps to moving your personal files on the hot spare.

  • Memory hard disk space?

Until recently, my main hard drive is lost memory with no additional downloads. 20gigs of space disappeared in 2 weeks. I could make a clean disk with windows and with an internet security program but impossible to recover this loss of storage. I also did a restore of windows at a date prior to this incident, but without success. What is this possible. ? At this rate I won't lose my space of hard drive in 2 months.

    Hi Whynot build.

Try to remove the restore points from your computer. This will probably give you an extra 20 GB

How to delete all system restore points except the most recent

    To do this: -.
Click Start > all programs > Accessories > System Tools > click Disk Cleanup
Now run this utility and click the Other Options tab click clean up under System Restore and shadow copies. Has message will popup -are you sure you want to remove all but the last restore point? Click Remove and exit the program. Now, all restore points in the system to the most recent exception are cleaned. As a result, there will be more free space on hard drive.

  • For CPU, memory, network, disk icons appear dimmed

On vFoglight 6.5, Virtual environment quick summary - see, the icons for the CPU usage, use of memory, network i/o, disk i/o are grayed out.  However, we receive email on the various thresholds with alerts.  I tried to restart the system.

Can anyone provide ideas for what is the problem and how do I cancel?

    Thank you.

Sounds like your collector or connector service is not running correctly.

-Check that both services are running.

-Have you changed your password for the account used by the collector?

    -Collector.log check for errors

Let me know what you find, and I might be able to help you.
