RH11 - customization of sizing in WebHelp?

I use RoboHelp11, and I want to custom size my TOC pane and the search field in the upper right.  I use WebHelp with blue skin XP.  I tried to change the font sizes that I used, but which do not change or adjust automatically the size of the pane / field size.   How to set the calibration?

In addition, on the table of contents, the book on the left icons not displayed.  The text is right aligned to the left, and I have to use the scroll down bar to see the book icons.  How to fix this?  Is this a problem with how my browser is set?

I use IE11.

I read the "Skinny on Skins", but it seems that now the fixed code manual would not need whenever you generate :-)  Thank you gener8r!  If nothing else, I can resort to that...

There is a way to get some things working: changing the .skn file. In your project directory, find the skin in the! SkinSubFolder! and open the .skn with a text editor. It is just an XML file you can do some changes.

Find two occurrences of cold = "" 220, * "and change the first number at your convenience to set the width of the sidebar." Save it and generate your output.

If I not mistaken, the size of the search field only adjustable on mucking in the output files. After you have done this, make a copy of the modified files and paste them into the output whenever you generate. You can save time. Rick skinny on skins should have instructions on the configuration of the size of the search box.

Kind regards

  • Invalid media. Popup cannot create the file' when building

OK, the background. I am currently using RoboHelp HTML 11.0.3.268, with the latest updates, as I write this, after having updated in RoboHelp HTML 9. (I know people are going to be asked, and I understand, so I am stating as much information to the front to make sure that nobody questions that they own.) My main RoboHelp project breaks down into eight separate subprojects, with a production of CHM and WebHelp HTML files. In addition, my supervisor has had a problem with the HTML files generated by RoboHelp 11 new of visualization in Google Chrome, so I found and added the files RH11 recommended by RoboHelp help (WebHelp in RoboHelp questions versions 10 and 11). Immediately after that, however, I can't generate WebHelp files. As soon as I select between all the WebHelp settings menu, a popup appears that reads "invalid media. Cannot create file', then with the path of the directory to the project page main .htm.  Short of reinstalling RoboHelp HTML, what options do I have to be able to produce a valid set of WebHelp files?

The fix you point is older than the patch 1 for RoboHelp. He basically invalid subsequent fixes in plots. If you have saved the original files, you can restore your backup. If you do not have a backup, let me know and I'll post a link to the correct version of these files.

What are the issues of Chrome that you saw?

  • RH11 Webhelp full-text research question

I built a project for several months. A year ago, we went from RH9 to RH11 without any problem. We just found out that there are now problems with full-text search. Survey shows anything loaded before a month ago back in the search, but whatever it is loaded after that which is not running. I checked the whxdata file in the files published and found that the packagexx_xml.js files are all dated 3 February 2016, even if it has been published since then. Should I delete the whxdata files and let them recreate? If I look in project files there is no package file, and if I open index.htm and do a search, I get "null" for everything. I do not understand that these files contain the text search information? Obviously something went haywire. Could I have the JavaScript problems? Any suggestions?

After much digging and checking that I finally solved the problem. First know that I updated to Java, I installed the new MSXML Service Packs. I uninstalled and reinstalled 11 HR. None of these actions makes no difference. I decided to go back to basic troubleshooting. I went back what files changed on 3 February, which was the last day, the 'package' of the files updated. I had downloaded the two files PDF luggage. I uninstalled both and compiled the project. Success - "package" files updated and the search function has been restored. I installed each PDF individually and updated after each and found out who was the author of the offence. I still don't know why this particular PDF file was causing problems. There is no feature of security enabled on the document - however, it's 35 pages of very detailed drawings. In any case-, the problem is resolved and the end was just the PDF file causing problems.

Thanks again for the reply Rick.

  • RH11: Navigation bar missing Webhelp output

    Hello

I want to generate a WebHelp in HR 11 output with a supplied skin (i.e. 'money XP'). In the WebHelp skin Editor, I see the navigation bar.

Generate the WebHelp, I do not see the navigation bar (Browser is IE11 or Firefox 42). Any ideas? Any option, I forgot to ICT before generating?

The arrows are for sequences of browse. You enable them by adding sequences to RoboHelp (Tools > sequence editor to browse) and selecting the sequence in the SSL.

The drop-down list is for categories of content. Only if you create several categories in your WebHelp, you will see the drop-down list.

  • Need a sample RH11 Webhelp output with categories and browse sequences...

I am looking to test a plugin (of sorts) with any HR 11 Webhelp output that uses categories and browse the sequences. A Webhelp output from the sample project Salesbuilder 2 would suffice. I won't buy another version of HR for a trial.

If someone could post a file zipped from the release of somewhere, or send it to the email address on my profile, it would be extremely useful.

  • Windows 7 photo screen saver not the 'options' has Vista, how to do i.e. sepia options, transition, random, sizing, etc.

I notice that my Windows Vista Photo Screensaver has options to display photos, sepia, randomly, stretching, transition, sizing of the images etc, and Windows 7 has only a speed option.  What happened to the other options and how to really customize the screensaver?  It seems that the picture for the screen saver option has been reduced and made vary credits for display.  I have a laptop of Acer Thinline 4810 t - 4508 with Windows 7, Intel SU4100 and 4G of DDR3 memory.

Windows Photo Gallery Slideshow Screensaver does not support themes in Windows 7. To work around the problem, you can use the "Windows Live Photo Gallery" since it incorporates a similar screensaver that supports themes.

  • #BSSC file in RH 9, project 2015 WebHelp files (perhaps RH8 too)

There is a #BSSC file in my files of project HR current (I have 2015 UX, but had several older versions). I think it's a legacy over the years (decades) file there when I experimented with the mapping of the id and context-sensitive help which we do not have to call help at this time. This post on the forum WebHelp speaks a little for the associated files RH11: purposes of BSSCDefault.h and whcshdata.js . I'm looking to make sure my understanding of the #BSSC file is accurate and similar to that of the BSSDefault.h - that which relates to sensitive help context and mapping. Also, I assume that since it is used is more actively, I could safely rename or delete? My Department will move the files in the cloud and says the sign # in the name of the file doesn't prevent it to be moved to the cloud.

Also, I ran a test by creating a new project with the help of WebHelp and HTML sensitive, doing nothing associated with the ID card a #BSSC file is not created by HR during the test, just empty BSSCDeafult.h file.

I imagine the number represents the version of Robohelp 9 published by eHelp (not the Robohelp 9 published by Adobe - for a potted history, see here: versions of RoboHelp: a reference guide - The User Assistance Colum (n) ).

I found a list of source and output files for Robhelp 7 (the Adobe Robohelp 7, not Robohelp 7 software sky blue) and it does not appear there, although I couldn't say for sure if she is complete:

  • WebHelp to CHM converter - on the Page

I use RoboHelp 10 and the WebHelp for the CHM converter. I customized the about page (whskin_banner.htm) in my WebHelp output and removed the text "powered by...". ». This file is overwritten when I run the WebHelp for the CHM converter. Is it possible that I can keep my customizations when you use the converter?

You can update the file to seed so that all the outputs of WebHelp will use your updated file. (C:\Program Files (x 86) \Adobe\Adobe RoboHelp 10\RoboHTML\WebHelp5Ext\template_skin)

If you don't want any outputs from WebHelp to use the new banner, there are also a few complex ways, you can do this job: you can use a script to import the updated automatically every time that you build. (Or update the script of WebHelp, CHM). Alternatively, you can decompile CHM, update the file and recompile.

    AART Korstjens

    Hello

This will depend on the settings in effect for your WebHelp. Basically, you should find a few other folders in the WebHelp folder. These files are named WHData, WHGdata and WHXData.

The information found in these records within files with names such as: package_0_xml.js, package_1_xml.js, package_2_xml.js and so on.

  • RH11 will not produce a CHM

From time to time, when our RH11 applications do not generate a CHM file. It happens to me and a colleague to work once a week and usually one of the following conditions occurs:

    • HR generates a CHM but the file has no weight. A normal CHM is about 10 MB, but the problems are usually not more than 5 KB.
    • HR displays an error message that the file is open in another application and close the application and try to build again. Of course, the file is not open anywhere.
    • RH complete the generation process, but no CHM is generated.

After "generating" the CHM, HR display the message of completion, asking if we want to view the file, but clicking Yes does nothing.

We can usually fix the problem by stopping HR, restart the workstation, or both. But now I rebooted twice and even completely shut my pc, but still failed to generate a CHM. I even tried to change the destination to the CHM folder, that works sometimes, nothing works. I am able to generate WebHelp.

    Any ideas? Thank you.

When it happened to me (RH10), check the output to see which file is the last one, with which it works. For me, it was the next .htm file in alphabetical order which watered up CHM generation. I had to re - create the topic (and update any links, etc.) and then appeared fine .chm file.

  • RH11 - layouts SSL slows down making it almost unusable RoboHelp

I use RH11 and projects converted from RH6.

We previously used RoboHelp Server but decided to host our documentation for help on a single server IIS using Webhelp layout.

    Here's the question:

    • A HR project
    • I have about 30 different layouts: 15 versions of the product each of which are available online or on a BluRay disc
    • I must publish each presentation to different places and our IIS servers are balancing so for each layout, I need to publish in two different places
    • Result is that I have about 60 different publishing locations

I read in the post following on problem of slowness in RH8 when more than 3 locations of publication are configured in a single project Re: Single Source Layouts slowing RoboHelp

I did not see the resolution to do that and now get very worried that HR takes forever to open and select and open layout takes 3 to 4 minutes

I have lots generate all of my layouts and to let run and published over the weekend, so having all pre-filled publication locations is vitally important.

Y at - it solution or the solution to this problem? If HR can't handle it, it seriously takes a lot of value to a point of view of automation.

    Thank you!

    Christophe Rousset

    Hi Christophe,

There is a file in the project folder 'pblsvrs.sss' that contains all the details of the server.

RoboHelp takes time to parse the file because of its huge size, as there are has 60 entries in server in it.

To resolve this problem, you need to keep this file in the project folder and copy it to the folder of the project only prior to generation of the output and then delete the project file again.

We can help you with the solution scripts to do this in an automated way.

You can contact me at [email protected] if you need script solution.

  • Adjustment of left navigation of WebHelp

    Hello

    RH11 / IE 11

I would like to get the horizontal bar on the left navigation pane to return to 0 position OR specify the width of the left navigation pane to fit the longest title of the topic. Once I have generate WebHelp and display in Internet Explorer, I see:

    TOC1.jpg

When I start to go through my subjects, the left navigation pane creates a horizontal scroll bar that cuts off the left side (as shown below):

    TOC2.jpg

    Horizontal scroll bar is:

    TOC3.jpg

Users must drag the bar to the left if they want to see the table of contents

Is there a way to get around this? Thank you.

    Hi William,.

Thank you very much for your answer. I think that you have found the solution, however, my java does not match your java. This is the place that I've isolated in the file 'whthost.js ':

Could you please confirm if this is the right place and what line could be placed in the comments with the double.

  • Content of the start page does not load in 11 IE or Chrome - RH11

We went to RH11 specifically to solve the problem of known IE11 we had while we were running RH9.  When I installed the software, I applied all available patches, now at 11.0.2.240.  But when I try to generate a WebHelp project, in the output, the TOC loads, search bar charges, but the main content of the start page does not load.  Very similar to the old question of IE11.  It happens on both files the to this virtual machine and when they are responsible for the intenet.  My operating system in Windows 7 (as so far).

    Someone at - it suggestions?

    Ah ha.

Worked well with an example project.

Took a look at my files... the start page is a legacy file that has been through several versions of RoboHelp, at one point he somehow must have obtained some of the javascript HR calls in there - took the javascript code for the file, rebuilt and everything works again.

  • Fix for the problems of release of WebHelp with IE 11 breaks search

I use RoboHelp HTML 9 and you had problems with WebHelp generated in IE 11. The table of contents was completely empty and the 'Search' tab was going well, but have not worked. Everything worked fine in Firefox. After much research online and experimenting in these forums and elsewhere, I was able to get the table of contents to display properly in IE 11 (and Firefox), but the fix caused the Search tab to stop functioning in accordance with this other forum post RH9 Webhelp search function does not work properly.

I need to have BOTH COT and research displays and works correctly but in order to get the table of contents displays correctly I had to change the preferred Format "Pure HTML" and, according to the above-mentioned position setting, it's what messes up the search function. is there a solution that will enable the TOC and research work properly?

Here is a summary of the steps I took to get to this point:

    • Tested WebHelp output of two different projects myself so that the startup project Salesbuilder - all would display or function properly in Firefox but not in IE (empty TOC and non-functional research) 11.
    • Find a "patch" for RH10 exactly the problem I have experienced with RH9 but wasn't able to find a version for RH9. Since the patch included only 2 files (whutils.js and whver.js), I saved these files in the RoboHTML\WebHelp5Ext\template_stock directory and replace them with the new.
    • Regenerated one of my RoboHelp projects - still does not work in IE 11 and now does not work in Firefox either!
    • Tried to turn on mark of the Web but this did not help and did not allow for opening PDF that is necessary for one of the projects, I turned it again.
    • Change the preferred Format setting "Pure html" instead of "DHTML" and the table of contents displays and worked properly in 11 IE and Firefox! Hooray!
    • Celebrated for 10 seconds until I clicked on the "Search" tab and see the input box filled with letters of the alphabet with other random letters, words, numbers below. It looks almost like an index, but none of my projects using an index and I've not generated one or the other project.
    • Found the post mentioned above which States that the solution is to change the preferred Format of DHTML, but when I do this I am back empty TOC and look clean but non-functional search!
    • I have now deleted the search the output of one of the projects tab, it is not really necessary, but I need to find a solution for this for my other project.

Two of my projects are run locally - it is documentation that is distributed on a CD release and the other is CSH, which is loaded on the local server with the software for which it was created.

    Dorothy

Note to administrators: Sorry, but I posted this in response to a previous post , summary, Index, & Research do not appear in the generated... help -then perhaps it should be removed from this thread to avoid confusion.

There is an official fix for RoboHelp 9 IE10. But who is unable to solve your problem. If you PM me, I can send you a pre-test to fix IE11 on RH9 to see if it works in your situation.

The only real solution is probably to update RH11.

    Kind regards
