Riffle is biased!

As unofficial National Riffle Association President, I was seriously ticked this morning to discover a flaw in the implementation of the Fisher Yates good, old shuffle LV.  Fortunately, when it is important for me, I never use the code which I can't trace the source, so I've always used my own implementations.  But myself and one or maybe two others, have tried to raise awareness of this potentially nifty VI.

I've included a VI repeatedly waving an array of integers 0. 9 paper.  It then calculates the distribution of final position for each value as well as the distribution of values for each index in the table, riffled.  It should be flat, but notice the bias edges.  For reference, I added a simple implementation of the FY shuffle, you'll notice the absence of bias in the results.

Other than the license protection (Riffle is SDS +), why did the implementation of such an algorithm standard hiding in a COLD LAKE?  Why is the algorithm, as many other non referenced?

Tested LV9, LV10 on Windoze.

    Hello

I'm doing a selection at random between 2 options, that one of these two options could be repeated, however, no more than three times.

I enclose my VI. At this point, I can do a random repeat between 2 options, but I can't program limiting the rehearsal for a maximum of three times.

As I am a beginner in labview, I'd appreciate any help or a thoughtful response.

    Thank you very much.

For the relatively small number of choice and repetitions, I'd go a slightly different route.  I would like to pre-compiled a simple table containing the authorized number of each choice (in this case 0,0,0,1,1,1) for the two choices (0-1) allowed three times max.  Then I would like to shuffle this table.  Here is an excerpt:

I use the built-in gun since it is perfect for this application, with the exception of the small matter of bias that makes so unnecessary.  However, you can go about this:

    http://forums.NI.com/T5/LabVIEW/riffle-is-biased/m-p/1921103#M642990

and find my Shuffle.llb replacement who has a polymorphic VI to do a good shuffle.  Replace Riffle with it and you're good to go.

Select Safari > view > Customize Toolbar > and balance your selections to focus the address bar. Move your actions right/left of the address bar, and or add "Flexible space" to focus the address bar.

  • MacBook Pro retina FaceTime Camera out of alignment / biased?

I recently had the screen of my retina Pro Macbook (13 inches, end 2013) replaced a program of quality of Apple due to the wear anti-reflective coating.  However, because the repair was completed, I've noticed that the FaceTime camera is out of alignment and/or biased.  In other words, I have to move the computer a lot so that my face is centered on the screen.  This problem exists no matter how soft, I use (photo booth, Skype, FaceTime, etc.).

Does anyone have experience with this problem and how to fix?  Thanks in advance.

BabyDingo wrote:... Does anyone have experience with this...

I've never known the specific problem you are reporting.

    BabyDingo wrote:... How to correct?

Contact the service provider of Apple who worked on your Mac as soon as POSSIBLE.   Explain the problem and make an appointment for parts replaced to be checked and adjusted if necessary.

Don't forget to back up your Mac and Deauthorize iTunes before the call for tenders for this next service visit.

When you take your Mac once finished all the work necessary, ask the service provider to demonstrate the camera so that you know it works before bring you it home again.

  • Scanjet G4010: scanjet G4010 biased image

We've had this scanner for a number of years now with no problems.  However, these days, the scanner started producing biased intermittently from the scanned images.  How this can be solved?

    Hi @Pizzaman21,

The test was good, so not a problem with the scanning hardware.

What software are you using to scan?

Is there a correct option of auto? If so what happens if disable?

The photo looks like has tried to keep the hand writing directly, so biased to the image.

What happens if trying to scan with the hand writing as a PDF document?

    Please get back to me.

    I'll do a try, ebiggs1, but I think it's more fun and more "creativity-friendly."

design labels using "The Print Shop 2." Maybe it was my initial mistake, try to print from printing to PRO-10!

    Thank you.

  • HP7280 prints are biased - band 1/4 "on the two adjacent sides

All of a sudden, my HP 7280 is printing 4 x 6 biased. The image is moved with band 1/4 "on the two adjacent sides.

I print from the drawer and the preview appears correctly.

    Hello

I see that you have a problem with the printer alignment. I suggest you do a hard reset with the printer. In addition, realign the printer via the front panel.

  • OfficeJet 4650: Biased Image of the scanned document

During the analysis of the image produced by the scan my documents is biased on the new page... a little as the document I wanted to analyze somehow go slightly twisted during the scanning process.   Y at - it a setting or fix I can do to help my scanned images is more aligned on the page?

    Hi @TalusHiker,

Welcome to the HP Support forum.

I understand that you use a printer all-in-one HP OfficeJet 4650 with a Windows Vista computer and analysis the scanned document is slightly asymmetrical. I would like to help with that.

In order for me to propose a proper resolution, it can help to collect a little more information from you.

You scan the automatic feeder (ADF) of Document, or the glass dish?

The scan seem asymmetrical when you look at it on your computer, or when it is printed?

Is the pages in a separate document or part of a book?

I'll watch for your reply, so I can go into it for you. Just reply to your convenience.

    Thank you.

  • So biased desktop computer.

The Office on my laptop Lenovo's C3000 is biased and lower should be.  Can barely see the START button and the right side of an open application is not visible.  Resolution change did not help.

    Hello

Usually this kind of problem is managed by controls on the screen itself, but with laptops you generally don't have these. Check your system documentation to see if there is a combination of keys (usually fn + f) to see if you can manually adjust the screen. • Display screen is biased

I had to reboot my computer and when he returned, the display was biased.  I can't see the icons or display on the left side of the computer.

    Hi Kerri,

The issue can be caused if the monitor settings have changed or problem with the display drivers.

I would be grateful if you could answer the following questions:

1 have you ever done any recent hardware or exchange of software on your computer before the show?

    2. What is the brand and model of the monitor and the computer?

Please follow the methods below and let know us the status of the issue.

    Method 1:

I would say lets you check the monitor settings if there is no alignment of the screen change and also you can refer to the manual of the monitor to the correct settings.

You can also make settings by default if you find difficulties.

    Method 2:

It's a Windows startup option that uses the most recent system settings that worked correctly. Whenever you turn your computer off and Windows shuts properly, important system settings are saved in the registry. If a problem occurs, you can restart your computer using these parameters. For example, if a new driver for your video card is at the origin of the problems, or an incorrect registry setting is preventing Windows from starting correctly, you can restart your computer by using the last good known Configuration.

Using the last good known Configuration:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows7/using-last-known-good-configuration

    Method 3:

I suggest you to update the display drivers for your computer and check.

Updated a hardware driver that is not working properly:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows7/update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isn ' t-work correctly

    For reference:

    Update drivers: recommended links:

    I hope this helps.

  • Someone else has met a screen of the CC 2014 welcome distorted/biased?

    I'm under IA CC 2014.0.0 (v18.0.0) Mac OS x Lion 10.7.5.
The content of the Welcome screen is distorted/biased.
Someone at - he met - and resolved - this?

NOTE: I later update THE CC of v18.0.0 to v18.1.0.
I get the same thing: distorted welcome screen.

Sumit, I THANK YOU for your follow-up. It is certainly appreciated!

I visited the thread you provided the link (above) [https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1512827] and reproduces the steps described in the last entry, by rebel Yankee on August 6, 2014, which is:

Thanks for your reply, but the problem is no longer a factor. I went to AApplications/Adobe Illustrator CC 2014/Adobe Illustrator.app/Contents/MacOS/CEP/extensions and deleted the folder "com.illustrator.welcome". Who stopped.

I had a problem of 16-up In-Design, timing of the launch. It starts but freeze then when the 'Welcome' screen appeared. I also deleted the docs of the In-Design Welcome screen in much the same way as described above for Illustrator. It then ceases to be a factor.

Note about the waterway (/Applications/Adobe Illustrator CC 2014/Adobe Illustrator.app/Contents/MacOS/CEP/extensions) :

In the case where someone else made use of this, you should know that when you get to "Adobe Illustrator.app" you must hold down the Ctrl key when you click on the application. Reveals it key to control, among other options, "Show Package Contents." Select it, and then the "Happy" folder Then follow the rest of the navigation instructions.

The above worked for me; window not more welcome (distorted or otherwise).
Even if this window is desirable for its links with new features, those which are accessible via the Illustrator main menu > help > Illustrator SupportCenter. This will take you to the page of the CC Illustrator on the Adobe website, where you can see these links:
"Overview," "What's up," "learn & supports, ' and 'download '.

  • Biased display of LCD HP w2408h - cannot fix

All of a sudden, my monitor display area moved off center. You can barely see the bottom of the screen where the taskbar is located. I tried to use the key "menu" on the display itself and it rises. I highlight the image control, the horiztontal and vertical options. They do nothing - the '-' and '+' doesn't freeze working and the menu on the screen screen. I went into the NVIDIA Control Panel, but nothing seems out of sorts there. I think it's a matter of monitor and not a graphics/video card problem, but I'm not sure. Any suggestions? Oh, I shut down the computer and restarted - which does not solve the problem either. Thank you!

    Product: HP w2408h monitor LCD

    Operating system: Windows 7 64-bit

Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GS

Solved my problem of onw. Weird! Reduces the resolution of the screen, then could see the screen Center once more. Updated the video/graphics driver. All right.

  • HP officejet 6500 biased paper feeding of small paper (4 X 6)

I have alignment issues when I try to use the 4 X 6 photo paper. I tried the printer head alignment and it seems to be makes it worse. I am running Windows 8.1. I see a little oblique when I print a test page for full size. I watched it pull into a 4 X 6 page and it looked like he pulled in asymmetrical (perhaps not the print head). Any suggestions?

    Hi picture_this,

I see this is your first visit with us here on the Forums of HP.  Please, let me take a moment to say 'Welcome. '

To help you get the most out of the Forums of HP, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

I see that you have a problem with throw or twisted impression.  A very important thing that you can look at is the printer rear access panel.  Please, remove the Panel and ensure that the small white wheels are circulating freely and do not bind somehow.  When you replace the rear panel, please be sure it snaps firmly in place and that one side does NOT stick.

Another thing to look at is the power for the printer cable.  Please make sure you have the power cable plugged directly into a wall outlet and not a strip bar.  Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer for example, but is intended for HP products in general.  Please click the link which explains the problems when connected to an uninterruptible power supply/Strip/surge protector power.

Please let me know if you still have questions and I'll be more than happy to do more research on the issue.

If I don't get an answer from you today, I hope your Friday is a good and I also hope you have a fantastic weekend.

    See you soon,.
