Right click issues are usually caused by third party software who pushed himself into the context menu. This is more easily managed using the ShellExView free program.

Desktop icons have all disappeared completely and cannot add new ones to the desktop display.
I use Windows Vista Business Service Pack 1 on a Toshiba individual 5 months old Pro.
Everything works well except all my desktop icons disappeared last week for example Recycle Bin, Internet Explorer, etc.
I have activated since the "Desktop >" section of the taskbar and can now access all the icons in a vertical list.
If I try to add a new icon to real desktop screen does not appear, but it does not produce a copy that can be chosen amongst the "Desktop >" list on the taskbar.
How can I display the icons on the new real desktop?Right-click on the desktop, click on the "View" menu
In the submenu at the bottom, there is an entry named "show desktop icons". -

Problem with the change of location of the folder on the desktop (Windows 7)
Hi all, I have windows 7 Home Premium and changed my location on the desktop of \desktop c:\users\ (user) on my drive d: since my c: drive was getting full (for that I click with the right button on the back of my office and I changed my location). However, the system has simply dumped all my files and Office files in the root directory d:\, without creating a new folder on the desktop, which is what I thought was going to happen.
To resolve this problem, I want to transfer all my files + folders office to a dedicated folder d:\desktop but found I can't since now there is now no desktop as folder! (catch-22). I entered the \links c:\users\ (user) file and changed the objective of the Office in d:\desktop instead of d:\, but it has no effect! My office target is always the root directory. How can I change this? I hope you can help! DavidGo to libraries, do a right click on desktop, cut, and then paste it on the other drive. The wonders of windows 7 will automatically record anything he puts on the desktop for now :)

Firefox creates "desktop" folder on the desktop whenever I have download
So I just installed Firefox on my new laptop, and whenever I download something, Firefox creates a "Desktop" folder on the desktop and download of the sticks in there. I used to be able to download directly on the desktop, but with this version, I can't. I tried tools > Options > save files to, but whenever I have click on the Browse button and select the location of my desired download (office under the "Favorites" section), Firefox ignores and sets the path as C:\Users\User1\Desktop\Desktop. Is it possible to fix this? It is extremely irritating.
See if it works for you as it does for me.
- Create a new folder on the desktop labeled downloads (or any other name),
- Open tools > Options-> general
- Downloads, click on the Browse button and select the new downloads folder that you just created.
Firefox wants a "folder name" for downloads, by specifying the 'bureau' only or won't 'Favorites '. When you try to force the issue, the name of the folder will mimic what the user is trying to specify. In your case, it created the folder "Desktop" on the desktop. Yes, it's different from previous versions of Firefox, but this change took place ago - many versions so it is not really 'new' any longer.

«Add 'New folder' to right click context menu»
While downloading or installing a new program, etc. I click often on the 'Browse' button provided to select a location to save the file to see that there is no provision for the creation of a new folder on the selected drive, so I have no choice, but to save the file in the root directory. Is it possible to add a "New folder" option in the right-click menu

Older versions of PowerDesk Pro 7.x are known to cause explore crash, so that the sounds on the right.
The current version of PowerDesk Pro is 8.5.
You might be able to get the old version to behave by disabling PowerDesk one shell extensions at a time until when you right-click Explorer no longer crashes. This will leave you with limited functionality of PowerDesk since those afflicted extensions will be disabled, but you should not have these extensions to do anything, you need to make sheets.
I would start with the PowerDesk ZIP shell extension (I already know about this one).
It is a version shortened and changed my notes on the use of ShellExView (since you already think sheets):
Download ShellExView here to see what Explorer extensions you have loaded:
http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/shexview.html
ShellExView does not install anything on your computer, simply of runs and displays.
After launching ShellExView, under Options, choose "Mark non-Microsoft Extensions" and extensions not Microsoft will be pink, clear, but on some systems which is a difficult color to see, so click on display, choose the columns and move the column Microsoft closer to the top, so you can see on your screen without having to scroll left and right.
Click on the column header for Microsoft sort display (by clicking on the column of Microsoft) then all the non Microsoft extensions are on top and easy to see.
Non-Microsoft extensions would be things you have added (non-Microsoft) and are what you should be suspect.
You can also Google the name of a suspect add-on and see if there is any success on the mistakes of the DEP and what other people have done about it.
For example, you could Google something like:
Explorer XP crashing (you must fill in the name of add your suspect on.) See what kind of search results hits you get and are looking for solutions or situations that sound like yours.
Right click and disable Microsoft no suspicious extensions one at a time take a list so you can enable them again later if you wish.
The result of the change is immediate and no reboot is necessary. Test your failure condition. If the Explorer starts to behave, you will know which extension is the culprit, then you can start to enable them one by one until the Explorer fails again.
Don't forget - disabling the extension does not uninstall the extension - it is just disabled so you can always turn it on again.
Disable them one at a time until your right click on do not generate an error, then restart and test again. You have disabled the last extension would be suspicious. You can then start to reactivate other extensions to zero on the extensions that are causing your accident
If the cause of the accident is a third party application or program, their may be a later version of the program available that solves the problem.
If you find the offending extension that's the problem, please let us know what it is that I can add to my list.

Right-click menu changed: used to be the first "Open link in a new window", "Open link in a new tab" second; in 4.0, the opposite is true. Can I customize 4.0 to switch back?
To change the order of these items, use the following:
You must update the following (your versions have known security problems):
- Shockwave Flash 10.2 r152
- Next-generation Java plug-in 1.6.0_22 for Mozilla browsers
- Check your plugin versions on one of the following links:

- Note: plugin check page lacks information about all versions of the plugin
- Update the Flash plugin to the latest version.
- Download and SAVE to your desktop, so you can find the Setup program later
- If you do not have the current version, click on the "Player Download Center" link on the 'download and information' or 'Download manual installers' below
- Once the download is complete, exit Firefox
- Click on the installer, you just download and install
- Windows 7 and Vista: will need to right click on the installer and choose 'run as administrator '.
- Launch Firefox and recheck your version or up to the download link below to test the installation
- Download and information: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
- Use Firefox to go to the site above to update the Firefox plugin (will also install the plugin for most other browsers, except IE)
- Use IE to go to the site above to update the ActiveX to IE
- Download manual installers.
