Roaming profiles, Outlook, Windows 7, Server R2 2012 2016

I am building a new network with server 2012, Windows 7 Pro clients running Office 2016.

I have configured roaming profiles on the server and testing now with limited success.

I started by dropping a small test file to the desktop, disconnected, connected to another machine, and here are the file. Great!

I make a change to the file, log out and then log a new machine (where the test user is not connected previously on) and the file is there, Great!

If I disconnect and reconnect the first machine, the file is still there but it does not show the changes I've done more recently, is not so great.

The second part of the problem is that Outlook profiles seem NOT work completely.

Following the suggestion by another post, I removed and reinstalled Office on a single machine, created an Outlook profile then disconnected.

then turn it on again for another machine, everything seemed fine. I have created a signature on the second machine, disconnected, then back to the first. No signature :-(

It seems to be is not quite compatible.

Can someone tell me the areas that I should look at?

Is there a registry entry that is not be displayed/hidden or is there a way to draw wrong why the locking file doesn't go away.

  • Persona with roaming profiles manager

Hello people, hope you can help me out here!

    NOTE: I've updated this issue.

The original question is far greater.

We want to use character whose profiles management; the profile path is set in the attribute of "profile path" users AD.

Set us up, as defined by Microsoft: How to configure a user account to use a user profile roaming in Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000 Server, or Windows n...

In particular, note the comment on this link:

Use the following format for the path of the user profile:

    \\server_name\shared_folder_name\user_profile_folder_name

For example, if you want to store the roaming user profile in a folder with the same name as the user account in a shared folder named "Profiles" on a server named "Server1", type the following path:

    \\Server1\Profiles\%username%

However, when you use management persona (assuming that it is configured correctly), we get errors in the log of the PM:

    [0] [23/10/2013 11:23:56:0116] [RTOVPHelper! RTOTestConnection] Impossible to obtain the attributes of the profile distance: \\ourdomain.com\userpathlocation\Profile\%username%. V2, 0 x 80070002

A test, if I change the attribute of "profile path" roaming profile of \\Server1\Profiles\%username% to \\Server1\Profiles\realusername then persona Manager no longer has a problem.

It seems that it cannot interpret the %username% variable.

Is this correct? Am I missing something? Anyone can shed some light on this situation?

    Thank you.

    ORIGINAL QUESTION BELOW:

Users can use many devices and can use a physical device or virtual in any place - they are not related to an office.

Traditionally, we use roaming profiles in our physical environment. It works well - their profile goes with them (we have some parameters of redirection).

When the user connects to the virtual, Persona Manager is not happy. It is said: "management of Persona is disconnected - please contact the administrator '

Check the log of the PM, the only things that stand out are:

(... indicates to other log entries between which have been omitted)

As we use roaming profiles, the profile path, \\ourdomain.com\userpathlocation\Profile\%username%. V2, stands in the AD user object. (NOTE: it's actually \\ourdomain.com\userpathlocation\Profile\%username% so the.) V2 is added by PM/Win7).

If I am not mistaken, 0 x 80070002 corresponds to error 2, be "the system cannot find the specified file", but there isn't. If I come home \\ourdomain.com\userpathlocation\Profile\%username%. V2 in Solution Explorer, it seems.

It almost seems that it does not expand the environment variable %username%.

PM group strategies are implemented in the virtual environment:

    Manage the user persona: ENABLED

The Persona repository location: ENABLED > > > share path: VACUUM > > > the user profile path override Active Directory if configured: ENABLED

Log file name: ENABLED > > > Local log file path: WHITE

Repository of roaming profile is established in accordance with this article:

VMware KB: Management of Persona does not when it is configured according to the directives of the Management Guide of view 5.0

Someone at - it ideas? I thought that the problem is the %username% in the roaming profile path, but this should be good, it should not?

Please let me know if you need more information.

    Hello

    I forgot to update this.

    > Support connected with VMware.

    > They have confirmed the problem.

    > Question is a candidate for the next generation of Agent (no confirmed release date).

In the meantime, we will have to use roaming profiles in Windows, there is no workaround for the Persona Manager solution until it is resolved.

I don't know if the variable userdomain % is resolved for you. I hope that the difficulty they have presented with determination all the variables, rather than just the %username% variable (I reported and confirmed they had the problem). I would say that you talk about VMware to confirm that all the variables will be resolved by the Persona Manager.

  • With VMware View can use persistent disks and roaming profiles together

Site already has XP roaming profiles configuration and are again VDI Win7 so new profiles (username.v2) will be created anyway. However, I want to continue to use roaming profiles, hosted on a server so that the data is replicated and backed up. (redundant solutions already in place) Initially while we configure persistent discs and the VDI will be not synchronize with the roaming profile on D:\   I confirmed that my roaming profiles work very well on a physical system running Win7, but problems with the VDI. I was wondering if I can get them in sync in the current configuration, or if I should scrap the drive persistent in a way that the data will be all stay and synchronize on roaming profile constantly even if I refresh or update my Golden VDI image?

    Hi, welcome in the community

If you want to use your existing installation of roaming profile, then the best option is do not use "persistent" disk configuration Redirect to drive persistent static and it brings the use of extra storage.

While commissioning a desk with persistent disk pool, view and changes the path of the user in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Profile profile list to the D drive.  This may conflict with your roaming profile configuration. To confirm that, in the physical machine, change string values "Default", 'Profile directory' and 'Public' in the list of profiles registry which refers to a new path.

    > If I should scrap the persistent drive in a way that the data will be all remain and synchronize with roaming profile constantly even if I refresh or update my Golden VDI image?

Yes, it could be a convenient option for you. Deploy pools dedicated without redirection of the user's data

  • Windows Vista and Server Standard 2012

    Hello

I inherited the administration of a small building single LAN, with probably a maximum of 25 users. The vast majority of currently connected machines run Vista 32 bit. The newly installed server running Windows 2012 Server Standard. We do not have it staff to manage the network, and as I couldn't run fast enough, I am.

When the server has been installed, the company that installed it created user accounts staff, but said that it was impossible to make roaming profiles for Vista SP2 and it could only be done with SP3. I found the last Vista SP2.

I meet a lot of resistance in the building if the user needs to create a profile on each computer he uses rather than having a roaming profile, and so I was hoping someone could tell me if roaming profiles are an option for this combination of software and possibly direct me to a place where I could see properly how do.

    Thank you very much

  • Correct configuration of roaming profiles on a WIN NT Server?

I'm trying to implement roaming profiles with a Windows NT 4.0 Server and a computer Win XP Pro. I created the account via the 'Users for domains Manager' tool, created a share named "Profiles" to the root of the c: / drive and has joint the XP computer to the domain. When I try to open a session, he said that the administrator group or the current user must have ownership of the folder, and that he "cannot find the local profile." I have granted 'Full control' to all groups, including administrators. I am able to log in with the account, but the changes are not saved when that I disconnect. It created a folder with the user name in the sharing, I put in place, but the error persists even when I delete the folder and start from scratch. The server is named "EVANSERVER" and has a local IP address of 10.0.1.37. The XP computer is named 'EVANSERVERWKSTN' and has an IP address of 10.0.1.38. Here are the current configuration of the user file directory and Home:

  • Server 2008, XP roaming profiles and "cannot create a file when that file already exists"...

    Hi all

I'm working on a Server 2008 domain with XP SP3 clients.  The question is: create a new user, their profile is \\server\profiles\%username% [where %nom user % is their new username!].  Security on the profile folder is set so that the administrators have full access and the user has read & execute, list folder content, read and write access.

The user is able to login ok there is no problem with roaming profiles [otherwise, they would get a message on with a temporary profile loading] which suggests, but when they disconnect they get a message saying that some files could not be created [it varies], followed by "cannot create a file when that file already exists".

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hello

  • No roaming profile tile problem windows 8 no clear pattern of how and why.

Hi I have a fairly extensive network of windows pc 8

I noticed a strange problem which does not seem to follow any particular model.
When a new roaming user connects to a windows pc, 8 who was not already a profile they receive the message 'Hi' and the implementation of the etc pages once they see the new tiles page which is fine.
However sometimes a new user will register in the "Hi" is displayed and set up takes a lot of time and when it finishes the new user has only 2 tiles... Internet explore and tile office!  If the user logs on to another computer, they may or may not have the tiles appear... This suggests that it is a local problem in the users on the c: folder.
As I said this happens randomly with new users and this is quite annoying because it doesn't seem to be any idea why it does.
    Is this a bug?

I found a way to fix it.

1 log in as a user to discover that no tiles are present
    2. close the session
    3 log in as administrator
    4 open System
    5. open user profiles
    6 remove the user profile
    7. close the session
8 open troubled as a user session
    9. the tiles are back!

    10. close the session

    11. open a session as administrator of PC

    12. open CMD as administrator

    10. run sfc/scannow from the command prompt and set the PC settings store tiles.

The problem was when I used a 3rd third party tool called delprof2... I guess that the profiles were not removed correctly. Infact delprof2 corrupts the tiles from the local profile. This causes problems with the tiles does not not like laptop settings and store.

You may ask why use delprof2? Well well the reason why I used delprof2 is that there are in the region of 100 profiles to delete and just, that takes too much time on each PC using the system / profile section... I don't know any alternative.

So for correct (after execution of delprof2), it appears that you must first connect and see missing tiles then disconnect you and go as an administrator and delete the profile via the option of system profiles and then open a session as a troubled user...

I really want to do underground work for us, because I can see the benefits of a beautiful beautiful screen with all work related icons at a push of a button, but the amount of problems, I hit when an area is absolutely crazy... makes me want to go back to the Start button...  At least with the Start button, you can easily add shortcuts... Unlike the subway tiles it is almost impossible to customize metro layouts over a wide area without tools such as oblytile...
My conclusion is that it seems metro tiles are related to the local profile on the c: drive of each individual computer which is a little annoying when you have to hundreds of computers. It would be nice if metro settings have been configured on users roaming profile on the server.

I'm getting the impression that Windows 8 was never designed for a corporate network * DUHH * and the metro is simply to home computers / tablets / mobile phone (consumers).

    Which is a shame.

But I'm not giving up on hope...!

  • Resolution of Windows Server R2 2012 stuck at 1024 x 768 generic Non - PnP

    Hello

I want to have my own windows home server, so I installed WindowsServer 2012 R2 on a laptop Aspire 7740. But the laptop does not screen because I don't need, I want to order the server remotely via VNC. The problem I have with the server, it's that I can't increase the resolution, so if I use VNC only 1/4 of my remote screen is filled with the desktop of the server due to the fact that my remote screen resolution 1920 x 1080.

Is it possible to increase the resolution of a generic Non - PnP monitor? (I tried to install the drivers from w8.1 but it did not work)

I have a VM of Windows Server R2 2012 on ESXi 5.5. When I add it to the field, and it asks for a restart, I click Restart and it sticks to the 'Notification services that closing of Windows'. I love Server 2012 vms on the field that work well.

I have with closing force, the event viewer after the event shows all the problems. Closing subsequent downs end in the same message. I even let him run over a weekend and he didn't move past this message.

Does anyone know any reasoning for it.

    Concerning

    David
