RoboHelp hangs at startup and using robosource control

Hello world

I'm relatively new to this forum. I have used RH X5.02 now for a few months.
|' m quite happy with it so far and find all the posts very useful here.

So I was happy until last Monday, when I came back from 10-day vacation.
Normally I start HR by clicking a link to RoboHTML.exe to my office.
Instead of asking me which of my projects open, I got ZILCH.
HR block just, the only way to stop is to use the Task Manager to end the process.
The same thing happens when I want to add a project to version control.

the icons of my 'most recently used file list' (Tools - Options - general) contain a big question mark red.
I can't remember than before.
From previous postings I unchecked "save without prompting."
It doesn't change anything.

I experience installation PushOK CVS SCC NT interface (v 2.1.1.2) to be able to use the Turtoise CVS version control system that seemed to work OK.
I decide to use the Turtoise and PushOK system yet, but kept on the use of RoboSource control. PushOK interface has no uninstall because I wanted to do an additional test on our central CVS Turtoise system later.
I had to renew the trial for PushOK software license when I came back. It came when I started the first time RoboHTML after my vacation.

As I suspected that this additional interface might have something to do with my problems, I uninstalled and reinstalled the software, without having to reinstall the PushOK software. I took out of version control projects until I uninstalled everything.

I expected to have no problem after all this, but to my surprise, it didn't matter.
I think that there must be something in the registry or the project files themselves.

I'm working on several projects HTML HR in 'same time', pass from one to the other. All projects are (or were) in RoboSource control.
I am working on a Dell laptop with Windows XP Professional which is automatically updated to the latest versions. Yes, all files are installed locally on the laptop, including files in the RoboSource Control.
We use Antivirus NOD 32 software.

Everyone can shine some light on this situation?

TKS, Paul

Then

1] you can open a project to source code control

[2] cannot open a project to source code control

[3] cannot open RoboHelp without pointing to a project.

My first attempt would be to uninstall and Reinstall RoboHelp but you have already done this. That failed, see the topic on my site on installation of RoboHelp. It includes a complete uninstall, some extra steps that involve going into the registry. If normal precautions should be taken.

See how it goes.

  • CLICK HERE TO ACTIVATE AND USE THIS CONTROL

Hi everyone, I'm pretty much computer illiterate but I was wondering if there was a way of not having to "click to activate and use this control" every time an activex, built-in flash element is in a Web page. Can someone direct me how to change that?

I have Service Pack 2 for Windows XP
    Internet Explorer Version 7.0

    Thank you.

Thank you for all the quick responses. I did google it and found there is a tool from Microsoft, you can download that solves this problem, BUT you may not have Internet Explorer version 6 to make it work. Well, guess I'll be clicking to use this control.

  • Click to activate and use this control

Whenever I go to a website and scroll on flash animation, a small box appears around the film. If you hold the mouse pointer here for a second he says "click to activate and use this control". It seems to be a security feature. Niether one of my computers did this a week ago and now all of a sudden they do both. Does anyone know why it does this and how to make it stop? Thank you!

I found an answer on the Macromedia forums. If you follow the instructions exactly it will work fine. The link to the whole subject is Forum of Macromedia/Adobe. Here's a quote from the first post.

    [quote]
Microsoft has started to deploy an update that changes the way IE treats the ActiveX controls:
    http://msdn.Microsoft.com/ieupdate/

MS offer some workaround solutions, all of them involved changing the way the object tag is written to the page, but here's a much easier solution that I came with:

Create a javascript file called, say. Ieupdate.js containing the 4 lines of code at the end of this post.

Then, at the bottom of the page that contains the Flash (Shockwave, Quicktime etc) add a reference to this file:

    And that's all!

It works simply by replacing the contents of the object by itself. This external rewriting the tag is only sufficient for IE accept that your code requires no activation of the user. The outerHTML function works only under IE, but that IE is the only browser concerned which is OK.

You could test for IE using your favorite method (document.all, etc.), and instead of add at the bottom of the page you can add the code to a window.onload function, depending on what works best for your site.

If users have JavaScript disabled then your site will work as before.

Hope that some people find it useful.

  • & quot; Click here to activate and use this control & quot;

I have a few animated flash buttons on my web page and they used to work properly. However, recently I am getting an error of Explorer 6 sp 2. When I rollover the text, I get a rectangle around the text, and a message that says "click to activate and use this control". I don't get the same error with Firefox. I mucked with the security settings, but if anyone knows just--I'm tired and want the answer.
    Signed,
Stay - home-mother who used to be a geek!

It is not strictly an error message. This is the new feature of IE
(presented in the Update April 2006 for IE6) to comply with a decision
    against the Microsoft patent infringement.

It is raised by the and tags on your page. It is also
triggered by the tag. Content imported into a Web page by these
Methods is known as active content and now requires an extra click
activate it and interact with it.

The solution rests ultimately with the Web designers who are now invited
by Microsoft and Adobe etc to carry out active in content controls
their sites via Javascript rather than HTML tags.

Apparently Eolas said to the Open Source community (FF, etc.) that it will not

Microsoft could have simply a use of the Eolas patent license but chose

  • To establish a link between RoboHelp and version RoboSource Control database

I have problems with the connection between RoboHelp (version 8.0.2) and the database of version RoboSource Control. I can't communicate properly with RoboSource Control, but when I try to open the project in RoboHelp (using the same connection settings), I get a dialogue box that says unable to connect. An interesting note is that when I search the database, I can see (and its content) fine in RoboHelp. The only problem, the connection occurs when I try to open the project in RoboHelp. How can I fix?

Although my experience was different from those described on this page, replacing the RSO3MiddleTierService.exe file as shown in this topic: http://helpx.adobe.com/robohelp/kb/cant-check-files-robosource-control.html solved my problem too. :-) (In case someone else runs into this same problem). Fixed! Hooray.

  • Tools menu of RoboHelp HTML idle for projects in RoboSource Control

I just upgraded our projects to support of X 3 X 5 and installed (and started using for the first time) RoboSource Control. The problem is that when I opened an aid project which is part of the RSC in RoboHelp HTML, the 'Tools' menu is inactive - really, it is not available. If I hold the cursor over 'Tools', it just flickers and does even not the menu drop down. I tried to open a backup copy (it is thus under the RSC) of one project and the 'Tools' menu works fine. Examples of project work very well also. This problem occurs on our server dedicated to CSR and my client machine.

It seems that it is a problem RSC. Note that I have installed all updates (5.02) on the server and my client machine.

    Thoughts?

Aid projects MUST be added to a database of RoboSource Control in RoboHelp html. Do NOT add the project assistance to a basis of RoboSource Control with the ADD FILES... option in the Explorer RoboSource Control.

We have 12 aid projects. Each project has its own database of RoboSource Control. Each project aid has added to its database using the Add FOLDERS... option in the Explorer RoboSource Control. Earlier today, I discovered that some of the topics in a particular database were corrupt so I rebuilt the database by using the add to THE VERSION CONTROL... option in RoboHelp HTML. He has successfully created and when I opened the project help in RoboHelp HTML, worked all of a sudden the menu 'tools '. I have rebuilt since a different database using RoboHelp HTML and I'm 2 for 2. I will update this post if I encounter other problems.

  • XP hangs at startup and the dialog box provides the following: a problem has prevented Windows to check exactly the State of this computer

I am rebuilding a system that has been attacked by several viruses and had to rebuild XP using the Windows installation disc. After completing the repair, I was greeted by the XP logon screen and I tried to log in as administrator. The standard screen grass-hill appears followed by a Windows dialog box to activate product indicating "a problem has prevented windows to check exactly the State of this computer. To keep your copy of windows must be activated with Microsoft. You want to activate Windows now? "If I choose 'No', then Windows drives me back to the login screen. If I choose "Yes" then Windows does nothing - activation does not occur and XP does not start... the system just hangs. I also tried to open a session without failure, but he said that I could not activate safe mode and started back me to the login screen. I am able to get to a command prompt, if I select Mode safe mode with prompt at startup. FYI, I am able to view the structure of this version XP Directory when I configure the HARD disk as a slave on another system drive. Any help to resolve this matter will be highly appreciated.

I have exactly the same problem and after 2 days of searching and trying stuff found on the internet, I have solved this problem.

At my computer configuration: Windows XP sp3 with IExplorer 8, but had to go back to the repair facility after that some system files have been corrupted, do not know why.
My repair CD installation was: Windows XP sp2

In my view, the main problem is that after the installation of repair, the system obtained in conflict of existing versions of IExplorer 7 and 8. IE 7 & 8A prevented the application of activation of MS (OOBE) of working after the installation of repair, the OOBE application silently chrashed and prevented the logon process.

I couldn't connect even in safe mode, BUT with failure + command prompt, safe mode I managed to log on! So, choose the mode without failure + command promt in the trunk. Then open a session with success. Then close the command prompt and press CTRL + ALT + DEL to Task Manager. In task manager launches the new application "c:" and answer 'No' to the following question, and after an error message you c: drive open and you'll have office. You can close the System Restore Wizard who opened. Then go to c:\windows\ie7\spuninst and run spuninst.exe. Do the same to c:\windows\ie8\spuninst. After you have uninstalled both, restart windows, and after the first issue of activation, you should get the big activation dialog box.

I have spent a lot more time, because I was told that uninstall IE7 and IE8 is possible to do this via the command prompt. I did, but it has not fixed my problem. Then I tried a thousand other tricks at the same time.

Please let us now if this helped you.

  • MBP 12 - hangs at startup and the screen Glitch

    Hello!

My good-condition, end 2012, 15 "MacBook Pro under OS X 10.11.4 is ill. There are two apparently distinct questions:

    • When starting, it does not get passed to Midway as indicated by the gray bar. It crashes and gives the time, periodically warms and turns fans.
    • From the start, the screen has a distinctive glitch superimposed on it that never changes or falters: a series of horizontal blue lines on each fourth-or-so row of pixels.

The problem started by wakes the MacBook to sleep and it gel. Eventually had to hard - reboot, and now here we are.

    I tried:

    • Start in Recovery Mode: (now ⌘R to the boot) hangs on white screen directly after the Apple-logo-and-progress bar screen, not a lot of help.
    • The PRAM reset: (now ⌥⌘PR) unfortunately has no effect.
    • Start in Verbatim mode: (now ⌘V) Always crashes, but it could provide a few tips:

In the image above, you can see the above glitch, the blue lines. (Non-glitchin boot Verbatim is just white on black).

If in any sense, the last printed line is always this:

    en2: promiscuous mode enable succeeded

    More information:

The reason why the boot in Recovery mode does not work maybe because there is no recovery disk partition. When you start while the possibility to select the startup disk, there are only two options: Macintosh HD and BOOTCAMP. Recovery disc or something similar is also meant to appear?

  • Hangs at startup and does not open anything

    Hi all!
I downloaded the trial version of AE and it worked perfectly until yesterday (court days have not expired yet).
This morning I tried to open a project, but AE crashes at the start showing nothing but its interface with a few big 'holes' (for example: I can see my desktop through a timeline window and preview) and it's freezing - awaits its response does not work...
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling AE, but the problem is still standing. Everything is up-to-date, there is no problem of system (WIN 7): I tried to open a new project, but the same thing happenend.
It doesn't show any eroor message so I can't tell you something else: the only thing I can do is CTRL + ALT + DELETE and end the program...
    Any ideas? Thnx

What has changed on your computer between work and it does not? Windows install some updates? All software did settle? Do you have any antivirus or firewall settings change? New hardware plug-in?

Also, try to update AE with the update it was released yesterday.

  • Guide easy to use to move the project to RoboSource Control?

We have an existing RH9 project and we want to make it accessible to multiple authors. Where can I find a guide step by step simple to use RoboSource Control to implement a multi-author environment? We have RH9 server.

I watched the RoboSource Control Help file and I find it fucking going - it seems to be targeted to specialist authors rather than using network.

Hi, in addition to the excellent suggestion of Willam, I thought that I have would develop a bit since this happens quite often.

If you deploy RoboSource Control in a 32-bit Windows environment, I would direct you to this article:

Getting started with RoboSource Control 3

    http://www.Adobe.com/devnet-archive/RoboHelp/articles/RoboSource.html

This gives a pretty good procedure step by step for the implementation. But you can also take a look at alternatives that can be integrated into RoboHelp:

    Alternatives:

RoboSource Control was inherited by Adobe of the old eHelp Corporation and has not been changed since. There are a few known issues when used on 64-bit Windows 7 machines more and more popular. This is why you would be well advised to consider alternative solutions that Adobe has usefully documented (see below).

It seems that most of the new facilities of control code Source for RoboHelp are turning to open (free) applications such as Subversion (with Tortoise SVN)

You can read an article from Adobe on this here:
    http://www.Adobe.com/devnet/RoboHelp/articles/robohelp_subversion.html

Another alternative is explained by Mark Whisler (a famous Forum contributing here!) in his article:
Integrate projects RoboHelp 9 with Perforce
    http://www.Adobe.com/devnet/RoboHelp/articles/Perforce-integration.htm l

RoboHelp can also be used with Team Foundation Server if it is something that is already using your company. A good article explaining this can be found here:
    http://www.Adobe.com/devnet/RoboHelp/articles/RoboHelp-TFS-integration .html

For the record, the RoboSource Control 3.1 (32-bit only) is still available and can be found here:

RoboSource Control can be installed from your DVD or unzipped download.

If you have of TCS3, can be found in \Add-ons\Adobe control 9\RoboSource to RoboHelp.

If you have RoboHelp 9, he will find in \RoboSource control.

Hope you find these useful options.
