  Looks like your current profile does not work correctly.

  Create a new profile as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problems.

  You will need to get to the bottom of this problem and try to prevent that from happening in the future

  Thanks cor - el your solution certainly improve things, in the end, I completely uninstalled firefox (with revo to delete the registry entries as well), then did a new facility, which has cured the problem.

  I use Vista and since updating to Firefox 8.0.1 each time I start Firefox, it takes control of compatibility of add-on.
  I tried from disabled modules, deleting files from update, started with a different profile, nothing.

  Updated Firefox to 9.0 same problem. Is there a solution? Tried both listed and they were less than helpful.
