Router lights

I'm new on this. Question: Left router is permanently connected?  Lights are always on. It should be. Cut router at any time? I realize that it can be simple questions for an experienced person, but not for a novice.  :-)

routers are essentially designed to be turned on all the time. Make sure that the ventilation is good about the location of your router. Although it does not hurt to turn it off (to save energy may be), there are cases in which the router resets or loses settings when turned on.

  • No router light not showing

Hello, I have a N300 wireless range extender and its does not work. Funny is that it seems to work.

I followed the instrustions to the letter (twice), as well as my wife (when it is in doubt let the wife embark, right?) Then all the lights (except the light of router) and even the deivce bright lights when I try my wifi device. The device says even his connection and then says connected with full wifi signal.but the router light lights not so, of course, it does not connect to my router (a superhub Virgin 3).

So, what's the problem? I've updated the firmware to 1.0.0.10 (I think that's what he says) and the Extender was about 3 inches of the router at the facility, but still no joy.

    Any ideas anyone?

Problem solved! It was a bad blank superhub 1 that was causing the problem.

    Thanks for your replies

  • Question about lights LED R7000

Question about this quote from the Manual: "when the router is turned on, the light during approximately 10 seconds and then turn. If all lights lit, this indicates a fault in the router"my router lights LED is turned off. Are they supposed to? I discovered how manually to disable using genius. NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1900 is defective?

I think the manual means just that at first they all turn on, then off for a few seconds. LED lights depending on what services are available.

The power light should stay lit. Port LAN LED come on if a device is connected the WiFi LED (Amber on white, 100 M, 1000 m), are we if the radios are turned on. The Wan or the internet LED lights up if there is a connection to the internet. Some of them you can turn off via the user interface, but it is handy to have on so that you know the status.

It looks like your router working normally.

  • Router WRT54G2 loses signal shortly after sign on

I have a router WRT54G2, server printing a wireless G HP 2101 and a Linksys WUSB54GC wireless adapter on my computer, which is a Dell with XP.  When I turn on the system, the router works and the print server connects.  After a few minutes the router stops sending a signal and the print server is no longer functions.  My laptop, which is wireless, is no longer gets a wireless signal.  My iPod Touch is a also wireless, no longer receives a signal. However, the router light continues to blink as if she was sending a signal.   If I stop the entire system and restart the router will begin to send out a signal.  If I disconnect and then reconnect the printer adapter will start to pick up a signal.  After that, the wireless continues throughout the work day.  When I stop and start the system the day after the problem recurs and I have to go through the second stop with the router and the printer.  What is happening and how I can fix this?

Sunday morning and the router worked for 35 minutes without problem.  The printer adapter also works.  The problem seems to have been resolved.  Thanks for your help!

  • Satellite L450D-13U - connections WLan problems

    Hello

I use talktalk as my internet provider.
I started having an intermittent connection and the internet on the router light goes red. Its a d-link router.

3 weeks a vist to a bt tech they now tell me that the problem might be my laptop.
How could it when he connects and then removes the iradic same connection.

    Hello

You said that the router disconnects Internet. Right?
So how can have this cell phone number? Sorry, but I don t understand this

In your case, I recommend to check the settings of the router.
You should check the update of the firmware and should also check if other computers laptops/computers connected to the same router would have the same problems.

If you are sure that your router is OK 100%, then you should check the notebooks of WLan.
In such cases, it s advisable to update WLan driver

  • EA4500 restarts with wired network connections

I use the EA4500 with Comcast internet and a cable modem from Motorola. As long as I only connect through the wireless network, the router works fine. This change when I connect devices to the rear ports. Now, immediately or in the next few hours the EA4500 begins to restart, even the wireless breaks down and the router light begins to blink a few times short and one long blink and so on.

I tried cloning mac address different from all the different devices that I have in my network, but it's always the same result. Works wirelessly with isn't a problem, but as soon as something must be connected to the ports it will restart sooner rather than later.

The EA4500 is just little more than a year and is used in a wardrobe of air conditioning.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Don't mention it, JuergenH01! :-) I even think that I am part of society, but I'm not. :-D I'm just a loyal user of their devices. They never fail me, so in return I'll try to help others as well. You can continue to share here. :-)

  • Wireless stopped working completely on WAG200G

Radio has stopped working completely on my WAG200G. I'm not talking only a weak signal. My phone or my laptop can see nothing even when there is only 1 m. Works always wired network and the wireless router lights, but they don't blink at all.

I tried a factory reset, but that did not work. Can it be fixed, or is it a hardware problem?

    Hi halfbeing,

When you searched a wireless network using your wireless devices, see Linksys? When you did a factory reset, the number of seconds you pressed the reset button? Light should be blinking.

  • How to get gigabit on WRT 310N speed

I don't seem to get the gigabit speed. Router lights are blue, and the user guide should be green for gigabit.

    The router firmware is v2.0.01

Computer model of Toshiba laptop as a505-S6015 announced as having spped gigabit

Network card in is a Realtek PCIeFE family controller

    DSL modem is Linksys ADSLME3

Ethernet cables from the modem router and router to the computer are the two CAT6

My ISP provides a 3.0 MBPS speed and I measured it at this speed

So, should I not get green lights on the router port, the power to the computer?

    Thank you

    According to Toshiba: http://laptops.toshiba.com/laptops/satellite/A500/A505-S6015

your laptop only has a 10/100 Mbps ethernet card.

Network map gives suggests the same thing: it is a controller PCIe FE. FE standing for "Fast Ethernet", i.e. 10/100.

I would say that your computer is not gigabit.

I do change all the settings on my PC or what that it either when I changed from my old G series for this new series of N, but for some reason, the 360 cannot find the PC but I see on the Linksys Easylink only it connected and I can see the light of the Ethernet port on the router light up when the 360 turns on.

    You can follow this Article

In addition, turn all the firewall off and then try to connect, once you are connected you can rekindle your firwalls...

This could also be a problem of computer software firewall.  When you replaced your router, your firewall software computer noticed "joins a new network" and therefore automatically itself so that no other computers/devices on the network are "trust."  Signals from the other computers and devices are so blocked by software firewall computer.

To resolve this issue, go to the computer on each computer software firewall and set it to "trust", other computers on your network.
If your firewall or PC security program maintains a list of approved applications (also known as a "zone of confidence"), so make sure that your router is in the zone of confidence on your firewall...

  • RV042 stopped working

    Hello

    I have the following problem:

My rv042 stopped working after about two weeks.  The configuration looks like this:

Belkin Wireless Pre - N in bridge to port 1 mode

    -RV042 1 computer connected to port 2

    -Cable modem Internet

-DSL Modem in bridge of dmz mode

    * The router works with the embedded firmware, it's never been flashed.

Everything worked very well for about two weeks and then suddenly stopped working.  I used the system in time.  Things just disappeared.  I tried the following:

    * manually Computer Configuration to an IP address on the network instead of DHCP

-No connectivity. Failed to contact the router at all.  Cannot ping it.

    * Power/disconnect router and wait 1 hour before feeding this back.

-No connectivity.  Failed to contact the router at all.  Cannot ping it.

Perform a reset of the modem

    -No connectivity.

    * Perform the reset of the modem. Reconfigure the computer.

    -No connectivity.

    * I tried with several computers.

    * I can connect the computer directly to a cable modem and internet access.  Cable/internet is so direct.

    * When computers are not assigned an IP address in DHCP mode.  Running "ipconfig / renew" cmd prompt fails with timeout.

    * When configured manually, I cannot ping the router on 192.168.1.1

    * No warning on the router light.  All the lights seem to be good.  When it is connected to the Lan 1 and Lan 2 lights flash constantly to any interval of 1 second.

Can anyone think of anything to try with this?

Thank you.  I managed to solve this problem by taking the following steps (found on another post here):

    (1) turn off all computers, the router and the modem and disconnect from the wall.
    (2) disconnect all the wires of the router.
    (3) turn on the router and let it start up completely (1-2 minutes).
    (4) press in and hold the reset for 30 seconds button, then release it, then let the router reset and restart (2-3 minutes).
    (5) turn the router.
    (6) connect a computer cable to port 1 of the router (NOT to the internet port).
    (7) turn on the router and let it start up completely (1-2 minutes).
    (8) the power of the computer (if the computer has a wireless card, make sure it's off).
    (9) try ping on the router. To do this, click the 'Start' button > all programs > Accessories > command prompt. A black DOS window will appear. Enter the following text: "ping 192.168.1.1" (without the quotes) and press the Enter key. You will see 3 or 4 lines that begin with ' response to... ". "or"Request timed out". If you see "reply from...". ", your computer has found your router.
    (10) open your browser and point it to 192.168.1.1. This will take you to the login page of your router. Leave the user name blank and in the password field, enter "admin" (without the quotes). This will take you to your router configuration page. Note the version number of your firmware (usually found near upper right corner of the screen). Exit your browser.

    (11) reload saved config.

    (12) connect 1 modem at the same time and make sure they connect to the routers statuspage.

    (13) connect one computer at a time until all are connected.

I never found a cause of this accident.  I turned more connection on the router in the hope I can find a cause if it happens again.  I hope this answer will help others.

  • E1000 activity led

The activity on this router light continues to blink.   It is a secure wireless connection and all my computers are turned off.  I live in the country, and my closest neighbor which is half a mile away so I doubt that I have someone outside my house, trying to connect.  I activated the record and it doesn't show any activity other than my computer.  The routing table only shows my computer as well

I had an older Linksys router and I just replaced with the e1000.  Two of them are doing the same thing.  If I turn off the router continually flashes the light on my cable modem stop activity, when I plug it in it.  I disabled pnp, that mormal?

This is normal with cable internet.

  • Two bad RV042G on

First buy one starts fine, then when the facility initial, the router lights began to blink several times and could get it no back up again.  Tried unplugging, holding the reset button in for 30 seconds, just could not get to the top.  So, I did a simple Exchange.  The second was (relatively) much more stable.  However, within 24 hours, the web interface becomes inaccessible.  I have to power cycle the unit to be able to reconnect.  In addition, e-mail logs did not work at all unless I manually hit the "Log Email now" button.  When you set up on the page of the newspaper, I had it lock up on me twice (to force a power cycle to return).  I have set the threshold time log on 10 minutes but have yet to receive an email unless I go in and click the button «Log Email now»  I'm still in my replacement/refund window, I would like to know if it would be interesting to exchange it again, or should I get a refund and wait for a few firmware updates before trying again this model?  I have an old version v2 of the RV042 which works very well.  I bought the RV042G for redundancy; do replace the RV042 as well as keep the RV042 as a spare emergency that I could just plug in and work, because the configuration between the two is almost identical and both have the same VPN configuration, etc.

    Advice?

I had the same problem with my RV042G that I bought new. suddenly I could not identify more and had to reset it by unplugging the power supply.

Then, after the addition of some transfer rules, he became a mess with the rules.

Then I reflashed the unit with the latest firmware (which is the same as the fw which stood on the device) downloaded from cisco.com

    Now he worked until now...
