Run programs in the Quick Start menu

I can't run any of the programs listed in my Quick Start menu. Nothing happens when I click on the name. I need to scroll the list of "comprehensive" in order to run the programs.

Hello Gus,

Are youtalking on the "Quick launch" toolbar in the taskbar or the recently used list just above the Start button?

For one of these, I delete and recreate.

Start menu > right click Remove from the list.
Simply run a program to him added

Quick Launch toolbar > right click on the taskbar and uncheck "lock the taskbar".
Right-click on the icons, and select Remove
Simply click dragging the items to it.
FYI: it is just an issue. You can open it by clicking START, and then type > Quick Launch > press enter
Then just create shortcuts here.

Hope that helps to Mark <> Microsoft Partner

    Hi Choy,

Please contact Microsoft Community. I appreciate your efforts to solve this problem, I'll probably help you with this problem.

To better understand the issue, I would like to know what is the brand and model of the computer?

This problem might have occurred because of these reasons:
1 conflict between third-party applications or equipment.

    2. bad power settings.

    Try the steps listed here:

    Method 1:

I suggest you to remove all external devices except the keyboard and mouse. Now set up your computer in a clean boot state, and check if it helps. Setting the system in a clean boot state will help you determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.

  • Shortcuts in the Windows Start menu?

Is it possible to create a shortcut in the Windows Start menu for a program that is installed on a Windows XP VM as of Windows 7 XP mode can do? I would like to be able to choose a program and have the virtual machine starts automatically.

We added this feature in version 7.1 (currently in beta).  When you are in the unit, move the mouse over the Start button to bring up the start menu in the client. You can drag any shortcut for the program on this menu and drop it on the desktop or any other folder. On a Windows 7 host, you can also lock a window of the unit.

    Hello

Default hard drive has been replaced by a v300 kingston ssd. I also enabled quick start.
I am trying to get into the BIOS but without success.

I tried all possible combinations (Esc, DEL, f1, f2, f8, fn + esc, f1... fn)

I found this piece of information through Googling: "press f2, and then press power. But always without success.
    Help with my problem?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Quick start can be enabled and disabled too using the Toshiba software called Desktop Help. Within this tool, you would find the HWSetup Toshiba and this part of software must contain the quick start option.

    Check it out.

By the way: for some series laptop, press INS key then F2 worked too.

  • Bug report - activate the quick start causes filesystem corruption and loss of data for Windows 8 NTFS when it is used by Windows 8 and Windows 2008R2SP1

My hard disk configuration is as follows:

    Disc 1: 0.5 terabytes
    Disc 1 - Partition 1 Windows 2008R2SP1
    Disc 1 - Data Partition 2
    Disc 2: 1 terabytes
    Disc 2 - Partition 1 Windows 8
    Disc 2 - Data Partition 2
After you install Windows 8 RTM and used for about half a day, I started in Windows 2008R2SP1. From the start in Windows 2008R2SP1, I had "one of your disks needs to be checked for consistency", and it proceeded to chkdsk both the 2008R2SP1 and Windows drives data. No problems were detected
I don't think a lot of it... and goes to copy several files from disc 1 - 2 Partition on drive 2 data - data Partition 2
Then, I started Windows 8 RTM one 2 weeks later and told me that 'one of your drives should be checked for consistency", and it proceeded to the chkdsk disk 2 - data partition 2 and found a small number of questions. But after that, all files, I had copied in 2 Disk - Partition 2 data were GONE!
So I decided to reboot and start Windows 2008R2SP1... and I got the "one of your disks needs to be checked for consistency" again this time what we found thousands of questions! He supposedly fixed, but my files (more than 200Gbytes) still LEFT!
I believe that it is this same problem: the bug - report serious corruption of system files and loss of data caused other NTFS de Windows 8 CP readers but I think it was not fixed on CP, and it is now on GTR!

One more thing why this site (http://answers.microsoft.com) don't have any option to ask questions about Windows 8 RTM? I had to choose' other/unknown '

    Update:

Apparently if you use the option "Turn on the quick start (recommended)" in your Power Options, when you turn off your machine, it's not really turn and that's why he won't let NTFS in a consistent state, and so, if the disc is read by another Windows, it will try to 'fix' cause corruption...

This could mean, even a double start between 2 windows 8 facilities system would auto destroy...

  • Reference Dell place 11 Pro 7130, how to activate the quick start Intel?

    Hello.

I found that the system supports the Intel Quick start feature. The setting is enabled in the BIOS. On the support page of drive you, I downloaded the driver.

First of all, it can be installed as a separate partition must be prepared for it. MADE with manual quick start by Intel. (By deleting the recovery partition, creation of the fast boot partition).

The driver has been installed and says in the system Tray 'active '. But it does not work. (After waiting on sleep hours, the battery is empty, but should be turned off to the quick start intel). BIOS is Version A6. Any clue?

According to another thread (answered by DELL), the function is NOT available on the same public participants11 it is listed in the BIOS.

Thank you DELL to hear me cry...

  • Moving icons from the desktop Start Menu

I was unable to move the Internet Explorer icon in my desktop Start menu.  Does anyone know how to do this?

    Thank you

You should be able to simply click on start > click and hold the left mouse button and drag the icon on your desktop. If it does not, click Start > run > paste C:\Program may Explorer > click ok. Locate the IE icon > right click and choose "send to" > Desktop.

  • 'Computer', search, sign, all inherent in the Windows Start menu does not not in Windows 7 x 64

Menu start search does nothing (it is empty) and nor "see more results". Control Panel opens a blank window.

Computer [also the shortcut on the desktop], music, Documents, etc. also does nothing. The frequently used icons still work, for example Dropbox and Malware Bytes on this machine.
    "All programs" also works.

    Edit:
I just realized that the empty window of the Control Panel does not close. There will be no X-out and Alt - F4 does not work.

I ran the Windows Microsoft 'FixIt'. That said he could solve the problem of the research, this raises the problem of research, then he said he solved the problem of searching (and only this problem), but it did not work.

It seems that my computer was restarted in the night, or possibly to crash and restart. The first time that's happened I assumed it was my antivirus (Webroot) reboot or something similar, because the time was good for that. But now that it's happened a few times, I'm much less sure about. I'm not under what anyone from one day to the next (like the video compression or download).

I haven't restarted, which I really hope will solve this problem. But there are a lot of quirks of windows you set with reboot (as in new versions of Windows)... is not an oddity. This is a pretty big failure. It's not like "Oh, it is not recognizing the printer, I'll restart."

A successful operating system should not stop the side OS/usefulness of the user interface like this. Even if a reboot "suit", is a major issue.

I'm an advanced user but not a pro. I did it and the user support, I'm building my own PC, I have owned them for adults 20 years of age and I am a computer science major. Unfortunately, I don't have much experience with advanced Windows troubleshooting, I use usually just Google and a few tried and true solutions to the difficulty of the PC of the user. I never did anything with the Windows log files, and I'm not anywhere near MCSE, obviously.

    Hi JCalton,

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Community Forums!

I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems during the search start, Control Panel, start menu and also in the Internet. Surely, I will try my best to solve the problem.

I would like to know more information on the issue, so that we can help you better.

-What is the "Microsoft FIXIT' you have tried to solve this problem?
-You receive error during the opening or closing of any folder or any application?
-Did you do changes on the computer before that
    question?

    Method 1:

Step 1: Place the computer in a clean boot state to check the issue
Start your computer in safe mode
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode
If the issue is not persistent, then follow the article to find the cause of the same thing.

Step 2: I also suggest to keep the computer in clean boot mode and check if that helps.
A clean boot to check if startup item or services to third-party application is causing this issue.
You can read the following article to configure the computer to boot:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After the troubleshooting steps, see step 3 of the boot link to configure the computer to normal startup mode.

Method 2: For the problem with the search and Index, I suggest you follow the steps to run the troubleshooter from the link and check the status of the issue.
Open the troubleshooter for search and indexing

Method 3: Also, I suggest you run the Microsoft FIXIT from the link and if it helps.
Difficulty of Windows Desktop Search when it hangs or no display of results

Method 4: To make sure that your computer is virus free, I suggest you to run Microsoft Safety scanner and check if it helps.
    Microsoft safety scanner
    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx
Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again. The Microsoft Safety Scanner is not a replacement for the use of antivirus software that offers continuous protection. For a real-time protection that helps you keep your home or small office PC against viruses, spyware and other malicious software, download Microsoft Security Essentials.
Method 5: File system (CFS) Checker
SFC tool scans system files and replaces incorrect versions of system files by using the correct versions.
To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:
    (a) click Startand type cmd in the box start the search.
    (b) right click on cmd in the list and then click Run as administrator of and programs.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue
    (c) at the command prompt, the following line and then press ENTER:
    sfc/scannow
How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7?

    Hope this information helps.

    Hello, campus56

You can try the system restore to when it worked as desired: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306084

If Windows Search is installed through Windows updates, you can try to uninstall. In Add/Remove Programs, check the show updates at the top and look for Windows Desktop Search and uninstall it.

    bleedorange1998,
Thanks for posting with us.  I suggest try to start safe mode and see if it works correctly.  If Yes, then you can start using the "last known good configuration."   If in Safe Mode, you have the same problem, you should run chkdsk /r and sfc/scannow.  Here are the instructions for these suggestions.  Post back with the results.
