Run vista with 6 GB of ram.
I use vista 64 - bit os and can't use all of my ram. SP2 is installed.
the properties of the computer displays 6 concerts, however, the Task Manager only reads and uses 4 gigs. Please tell me there is a solution for these problems.
Thank you
Although Vista 64 - bit can accommodate 6 GB of RAM, which does not mean that the rest of your system can handle it (or that it's ENTIRELY correct RAM chips for your system and installed correctly). I would check with the manufacturer to confirm that the RAM chips are suitable for the system and that the card mother and other devices are set to manage 6 GB.
This could also be a limitation imposed by your BIOS. Check to see if there are any configuration entries limiting the use of the RAM (and if so, check with the manufacturer before changinng the adjustment because there may be a reason for the limit that we do not know).
This problem with the task manager has happened for a long time now. I looked but I have not found a solution. I think that your system is using all of the 6 GB of RAM and it's a glith or a tactic of intentional programming (to show the RAM available vs total RAM or something like that) which is the cause of the deviation. If said system properties there is 6 GB or RAM, 6 GB are available. Don't pay attention to what the task manager says because I beilieve it means something another thann which is available on the system.
I hope this helps.
Good luck!

Update tries to install Office 2002/XP, but I am running Vista with Office 2007
Whenever I start the update asks me to install Office 2002/XP: Office XP SP3. It is classified as an important update.
My settings are "check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them.
But I am running VIsta Home + Office 2007. Never had Office 2002 installed on this computer. So why he asks me for this update? How can I stop asking him or should I install it? and if so why should I install it?
Thank you
Hi langsat,.
Welcome to the forum of Microsoft.
I would like to know some information like:
1. What is the number of KB of the update for office XP that fails?
2. Please check if you have Office XP installed on your computer application?
Some time, you get the update, if the application was installed before, then removed. All by removing certain tracks or files of the application have not eliminated completely.
In this scenario, you could get the update. If it the update to office XP SP3, it is not required in Vista.
3. click on start-> Control Panel-> Security and then under Windows Update, click view update history. Check your history of Windows Update and this list, what is the date of the last update installed, and let me know the number KB of the update that failed to download and install recently?
If you find that the number is KB832671 for Office XP Service Pack 3 (SP3), you should follow the steps mentioned below:
a - open programs and features by clicking on the Start button, click Control Panel, clicking programs, and then clicking programs and features.
b - search application for Microsoft office XP if installed, and then click Uninstall. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
c - in the case where you do not find the application in Add Remove programs or unable to uninstall it, and then download and run windows clean up utility from the link given below: http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9/d/e9d80355-7ab4-45b8-80e8-983a48d5e1bd/msicuu2.exe
d Please delete all files for Microsoft office XP, if you find.
e for more information please follow the link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
f - once all the files are deleted, restart the computer once.
We can also do the following to reset the Windows Update components manually:
Step 1:
Click Start, run and type cmd. Right-click "Command Prompt" and select "Run as Administrator".
Click on 'Continue' in the UAC prompt.
At the command prompt, type the following commands and press ENTER after each command:
net stop wuauserv
net stop bits
Step 2: Rename the Catroot2 folder.
Type the following commands and press ENTER after each command.
net stop cryptsvc
Ren %systemroot%\System32\Catroot2 catroot2.old
net start cryptsvc
Step 3: Rename the folder "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution".
Ren %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
Step 4: Save the files used by Windows Update and Microsoft Update.
At the command prompt, type the following commands, press ENTER after each command, and then click OK every time that you receive a verification message:
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wuapi.dll
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wucltux.dll
regsvr32 wups2.dll
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wups.dll
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wuwebv.dll
Step 5: Start the service of Windows updates, Background Intelligent Transfer and the event log service.
At the command prompt, type the following commands and press ENTER after each command:
net start bits
net start wuauserv
net start Eventlog
take the exit.
Please try to download and install the updates using windows update. (Be sure to restart the computer if updates need to reboot before installing).

64-bit with 4 GB of RAM installed; system does not boot
I bought and installed W7 64 bit so that I could use the full 4 G of RAM installed in the machine. Clean install after format but W7 would not move past the "Starting Windows" screen
Microsoft is absolutely useless as Acer support. Very disappointed in both.
So I started by disconnecting equipment: card reader. Try again. Nope. 2nd screen. Nope. Remove the piece of 1 G of RAM. There she goes. Now, I have everything set up and a few days later reinstall the 4 G of RAM. Still, no way in front of the window startup. Try changing on the sticks. No go.
So while Vista would go with the 4G installed, it wouldn't use it, W7 will not work with it. Max 3G. What gives?
I think it must be in the BIOS, but what? I also read that the removal of the video card and reinstall that after install the last piece of RAM will work, but I'm pretty skeptical.

Matshita DVD RAM UJ850s ATA optical drive will not read burned media, running Vista
* original title - CD/DVD unit read not "burned" cd *.
Hi, there are about 6 weeks, I had to do a recovery because a virus in my PC, the problem is that now the optical unit reads no CD, it reads 'original' CD, DVD (original and burned) but not burned CD specially those who have programs on them, could be a driver problem, but so far I have not been able to solve the problem , and I m not sure the original driver are in Sony's site, or any other Web site.
PS the thing Burns CD and they can be read after that that they were "closed".
I have a VAIO VGN-N330FH, running Vista Home Basic 32 bit (Spanish), the model is a Matshita DVD RAM UJ850s ATA Device.
Hello
You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
Playback of CD and DVD). So it is not unusual for parts from 1 or 2 to not work so that others do
correctly.Burning at low speed, or by using the master could help. A CD/DVD cleaner might help.
Brand of the CD or DVD drive can also be the problem. Low quality (cheap brands) are always problematic.
CD/DVDs have a tolerance + - and your can read/write on the edge outside these discs
tolerances. They may be delivered, but it is generally more economical to replace the disk.Several good info here:

I have a late 2008 aluminium MacBook El Capitan 10.11.6 running. The computer came with 2 GB of ram and the instructions say that there is a maximum of 4 GB. This ceiling is still valid or if I add 8 GB?
Yes, your MacBook accepts two RAM sticks of 4 GB, 8 GB total, you'd better update the firmware Version MB51.007D.B03.

Does anyone know if Lion will work OK on an iMac of 2008 with 2 GB of ram for basic navigation on internet, e-mail and Youtube? And what is the latest version of Safari on Lion?
Lion is pretty run down, you can't even download. However, if somehow, you have already installed the 2008 then yes it will work on 2 GB of RAM. We strongly recommend against it making, but it will run.

PC running slow increadibly with 128 MB of RAM - recommended to increase the RAM
Original title: pc running slow increadibly with 128 MB of RAM
My mother's PC runs incredibley slowly.
After you perform a clean installation of win xp and addition of firefox, and avast antivirus, pc still increadibly slow.
His laptop is a HP Omnibook xe4100 and has 128 MB of ram.
What I do need to update the ram of the laptop computer or is the problem of something that can be fixed with software recording cleaning?
Thanks for any help on this!If you did a clean install, it is not the registry slow down your computer. A clean installation removes all and back windows on the system with just windows files, so the registry is only what is absolutely need to run.
128 MB of RAM is incredibly low, so even if the slowness is caused by something else, you should buy more in any case, because it will help the computer a little.

I suggest you to make sure that Windows Defender is running. Follow the below mentioned articles and check.
Follow the suggestions below for a possible solution:
Method 1: I suggest you perform the clean boot and check.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: After troubleshooting, be sure to configure the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 7 in the above article.
Method 2: If the method above is not enough, then I suggest refer you the link try the steps and check if that helps:
How to perform an upgrade on the spot on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 & Windows Server 2008 R2
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2255099
Note:
You can back up data to an external hard drive and no CD. It is essential to back up data even if you do an upgrade on the spot.
If you are using the original computer and the new laptop image, you will need to purchase a product key to activate the copy of windows installed on the laptop.
