  I see that you are working with a 8600 Officejet who doesn't seem to have the scan/Fax options in the HP printer Assistant longer. I'm sorry to hear that, but I'll certainly do my best to help you!

  You can certainly just add the HP Scan icon on your desktop for the feature analysis on the computer, but if you need Fax options we then focus on the software uninstallation/reinstallation.

  For now, I'll explain how to add the icon HP Scan on your desktop (assuming that you are working with Windows 7) and if you want the instructions to uninstall/reinstall to see to get the other return options that I'll happily provide those in the next post

  To add scanning HP icon on your desktop click the start menu, click programs principally made, click the HP folder, click on the HP Officejet Pro 8600 folder and then right-click on HP Scan, click send to and select Desktop. Now you have a HP Scan icon on your desktop and actually save you a click or two

  When I scan I got my photo and all white for the rest of the screen

  It has no function of machine harvest in the 8600 software. To get the exact size, you will need to manually set the size for the scans that you do. You can find the setting by clicking on the blue link to advanced settings in the first scan window. Will take you to a place that will allow you to change the size of the scanning area.   Try the steps below to uninstall the existing entries to printer and software.

  Note: Make sure that the printer is not connected to the PC by USB.

  1. Press Win + R to open a window to RUN.
  2. in the window RUN, type %temp%
  3. Opens a window of time, and you will see a list of file names starting with 7z...
  4. Open who has the printer name in it, and then look for the name of the folder UTIL > CCC,
  5. then search for uninstall L3.bat and double-click it to run it.

  Once the uninstall is complete, reboot the PC.

  Now run the HP printer Installation Wizard to install the printer s/w.

  I guess I didn't hear that. I've had my printer for 10 years and it still works. I guess it's time to buy a new. I tried a good all-in-one printer. Unless you want to spend $150.00 or more, you won't find one. I'm not ready to buy a new one. My printer work under Windows 7. I just wanted to see my ink levels.
