Rundll32.exe error at startup.

The rundll32.exe path does not exist or not a directory.  This is the error message box that I get at the end of the boot.  I click ok and it goes away.  I ran an avast anti virus scan startup and also used a registry cleaner and can't get rid of this message.  Someone at - it ideas?

    Hello

Rundll32 errors can be caused by malware.

If you need search malware here's my recommendations - they will allow you to
scrutiny and the withdrawal without ending up with a load of spyware programs running
resident who can cause as many questions as the malware and may be more difficult to detect as the
    cause.

No one program cannot be used to detect and remove any malware. Added that often easy
to detect malicious software often comes with a much harder to detect and remove the payload. Then
its best to be thorough than paying the high price later now too. Check with them to one
extreme overkill point and then run the cleaning only when you are sure that the system is clean.

It can be made repeatedly in Mode safe - F8 tap that you start, however, you must also run

This is caused by viruses or other such pest that is already active on your computer, or which may have been badly removed (deleted without removing his boot entry).

Run a Malwarebytes scan on your computer: http://www.malwarebytes.org/

Clean your Temp files, parasites often hide in temporary locations.  CCleaner is a very good tool for the removal of temporary files: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

Do NOT use the function of registration of Ccleaner cleaning, registry cleaners are next few completely useless and mostly they cause more harm than good, they have a fix for the non-existent problems, at best they do nothing to improve performance, and at worst, they cause problems that did not exist previously.

  • Rundll32.exe error

    This is the message:

Windows cannot find C:\system32\rundll32.exe. Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again.
I get this when I open the control panel and try to use some of the tasks. This problem started to has occurred just after a routine download and installation of updates of Windows.

Oh... I see it now (with IE7).  I mainly use Firefox or Chrome.

Hey Robert Pyle, if you use Internet Explorer, when you choose to download the file, in the file name box, it seems fair to say:

    Rundll32

You need to change this to:

    Rundll32.exe

Then save it and put the rundll32.exe in the appropriate folders.

Or, you can locate the rundll32 you have already downloaded, rename the rundll32.exe and put it in the appropriate folders.  Sorry about that!

I'll work on the setting of my instructions in my notes (it's just a copy/paste).  I'm surprised that no one has mentioned this before that I sent this rundll32.exe repeatedly.  It seems that IE7 (at least) doesn't pay attention to the extension shown in SkyDrive (I tried a .dll file file extensions too-).

It makes IE even worse than I thought!

  • I have a rundll32 exe error. How can I reinstall windows xp on my laptop because it doesn't have a hard drive?

I got a virus and I deleted it but with the virus, I deleted and rundll32.exe and now can't open anything in my laptop and I can't use windows driver cd reinstall because this isn't hard driver.what can I do?

    Hi croky,.

-What is the hard driver who you speak?

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

    a. put the CD ROM of Windows XP disc in the CD-ROM drive.

    b. click Startand then click run.

    c. Enter c:\windows\system32\rundll32.exe expand:\i386\rundll32.ex_ in the Open box, where X is the letter of your CD-ROM drive.

    d. restart the computer.

  • After that the changing environment variables get various issues which cannot find %windir%\system32\rundll32.exe errors

After you sort a few UAC problems on the computer of a friend (see http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-security/a-domain-user-in-the-local-administrators-group/745fc28d-7573-4414-aa4e-657054fc62dd) we hit another problem.

After modification of the environment variables, it seems that windows loses some environment variables until a disconnection/connection is made. If you open a back command prompt and type the value, there are far fewer variables and things like %windir%\System32 disappeared. If you try to open the variable dialog environment again, you get a 'cannot find windir%\system32\rundll32.exe %. The same thing happens if you restart in safe mode. After a closed session/login, added environment variable are there, so they are saved, it just seems like it won't let windows none of them until a new logon.

One oddity is that the variable env pathext has different things in after things go wrong. He started as a

PATHEXT = .COM; EXE;. BEATS;. CMD;. VBS;. VBE;. JS;. JSE;. WSF;. WSH;. MSC. ; PY

and after adding a new use env variable and opening a new prompt back, together said

PATHEXT = .COM; EXE;. BEATS;. CMD;. VBS;. JS;. WS;. MSC

Is this a sign of a register messed up, that could have caused the original problem, or something else? Any ideas on how to diagnose this problem? Any help much appreciated. I have left this in the Security section, as it seems that it could be linked to the original problem, but am happy to move.

    Any help much appreciated.

I don't know what caused your problem, but your original path certainly seemed excessively long. There is a lot of overlap in it you need to remove - see below. In addition, having records of remote machines at the beginning of your path will cause the machine to slow down a lot. You should remove them.

    Hello

The CEC_MAIN. EXE application belongs to the software of the camera, and if you have already tried to reinstall, you should check your firewall and security software.
I think that your security software is blocking this application in order to check this!

If it doesn't work remove the software and reboot the laptop. Use CCleaner to clean the system and reboot once again. After that, install the latest software for the Toshiba page.

  • Rundll.exe error

How can I correct an error rundll.exe without reformatting my computer?

      • 1

Click "Ctrl + Alt + Delete" on the keyboard of your computer to open the Task Manager window. Click on the tab 'Processes' and search for rundll32.exe programs. If it is running and seems to access a lot of your system resources, click 'End process' because it's probably a malicious program and not a true Windows program.

      • 2

Launch the software to search, arrest and remove viruses, malware, spyware and adware. Often, these malware programs corrupt DLL files or cause it to be deleted or moved and, as mentioned, some rundll32.exe programs may actually be viruses on your system.

      • 3

Restart your computer to update the changes you have recently made to your files and programs. Many programs and applications require a restart for a successful installation.

      • 4

Uninstall an application or a program recently installed or changed and then reinstall it by using the default settings. An installed program cannot be loaded correctly, installation via Internet may was interrupted enough to create errors, or the program may have a bug. If you uninstall a program and see a rundll32.exe error, reinstall the program and uninstall then once more.
