Runninng Vista 32-Bit Windows Update - white screen updated

When I run the windows update program, the window appears without all elements inside. Just a progress bar continues to show action but nothing happens also after a long wait.

Here's what it looks like:
First: http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/3678/emptywinupdate0.jpg
After clicking on the button on the first: http://img710.imageshack.us/img710/6135/emptywinupdate.png

I think that I don't update for awhile. Can't remember if it worked even before (probably not).

Any other ideas then re - install windows?

Thank you.

He was never an antivirus program on this computer, not even a trial version, so far. Today, I installed AVG Free Edition 9.0.

I see.

Personal data backup (which none should be considered 100% reliable at this point) then format the HARD disk and do a clean install of Windows.  Please note that a repair installation (upgrade AKA on-site) won't fix this!

Once installed the clean, you will have the equivalent of a "new computer" in order to take care of everything on the next page before connecting the machine to the internet or one local network (i.e. other computers) otherwise and before using a flash drive or the SD card that is not brand new, or has not been freshly formatted:

NB: No matter what Norton or McAfee free trial which is preinstalled on the computer when you bought will be reinstalled (but invalid) when Windows is reinstalled. You MUST uninstall the trial for free and download/run the removal tool before installing updates, Windows Service Packs, or updates IE and before installing your new anti-virus application (which will require WinXP SP3 must be installed).

  • Under Vista 32-bit, windows update will not run.

    1. If an attempt is made to run Windows update, it displays the message that it cannot work because the windows update service is not running and the computer must be restarted.  Reboot has not fixed the problem.  Checking in MSCONFIG shows that the windows update service is running.  Tried the ap fix - it without success. Ideas?

    Hello

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.

You can go to start-> type services.msc-> press on enter. In windows, go to Windows Update. Double click on it. Make sure it is running and the startup type is set to automatic. Make sure that the following services are also running:

    Remote procedure call (RPC)

    DCOM Server process Launcher

    RPC end point mapper

Make sure the service above are running and that their startup type is set to automatic.

Now, reboot your PC and then try again.

If Windows Update still fails, try this:

Click Start-> type-> right click cmd.exe and click Run as administrator.

    Then, run the following commands:

    CD %windir%\System32

    net stop wuauserv

    Ren c:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution softwaredistribution.old

    net start wuauserv

Response if the issue is not resolved.

First of all, thank you for your Service !

See if this hotfix solves the problem - an update that improves the compatibility of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 with the Advanced Format drives is available
Be warned, if the following error occurs during the installation of the hotfix, it is the same mistake that the hotfix is intended to correct.

  • Windows Vista 32-bit security updates

After latest updates of Microsoft for Vista, 32-bit security, PC check errors system and restore to the point before the updates.  Tried to make an update at a time and new system get reset before updates.

Sometimes get no signal TV and the PC crashes and have to make a forced stop.  Get blue screen today and the message that Windows is not shut down normally press on enter to start Windows normally.  Enter the password and repeat.  Started with emergency CD today and then get the same results after execution of diaganostics: a blue screen, start Windows normally, repeat.  Look in safe mode did nothing no more.  It's several days ran disk clean up.  Defrag did not stand because the drive was only 1% framented.

Has started with an HDMI instead of VGA cable to TV around the same time, this problem started and wonder if I should go back to VGA.  Don't think that could be a problem unless there is something wrong with the video card HDMI port.

Got a new video card.  Cost not as so much that I would imagine in a local computer store.

Got to make changes to the settings.

Now I don't know even if I know how to find the old drivers.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Vista SP2 32-bit, Windows Update continues to install KB979683 and then re-list as a new "important update available"

Automatic updates of Windows installs KB979683, and then in the next update checking, it is listed under "important update available". He repeated every day for three weeks.

Under 'View Update History', he shows again and again KB979683 installation successfully.

Under 'updates installed, he said, "no update is installed on this computer". So I can't download it manually on my desktop, uninstall the update, restart in safe mode and reinstall manually. Also, when I tried to install manually in safe mode without deleting the file, I received the error 0X8007043c.

I tried stopping the windows update service, and then delete all files in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution > DataSstore and C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution > download, then by restarting the service, but it did not help.

I've updated and run Malwarbytes Anti-Malware 1.46 and AVG 9.0.829, but found no threat.

I use windows, as well as automatic daily scans with AVG firewall (manual scans with Malwarebytes: daily).

I don't know if it's important, but I'm under IE8, version 8.0.6001.18882, 256 bit zero versions updates. I have seen a recent update was available for IE8 (KB982381) but when you try to run manually, he said that the update does not apply to my system.

    Help, please!

Many many people have this problem when I talk to others. Miscrosoft compromises our computers so we would have to buy new ones?
They know there is a problem and they don't even try to find a solution for this. In this economy, they force people to buy new computers, they will just leave people blocked company becase NOBODY takes the phone, if you do not have email, people don't keep in touch, if you are not on a social network or business networking nobody will know your business, you won't make any money nobody reads the ACTUAL newspapers these days, everybody reads the news on the internet. They only hurt people, they are forcing anyone to buy a new computer, people just can't afford it. Hundreds of thousands of people can barely keep their utilities on. In doing so I wish they will reconsider. I am disabled I will definitely cut if my computer goes down for good.

Can we do any smell that?

There are also a lot that I need to run startup until the restoration. Windows restarts after the crash of the blue screen, I reinstalled windows twice, it works fine until I have start to install all updates. I have only installed MSE and it still happens. I lost all my music I paid a lot of money for, my paintings for children, important documents, all because I had to reinstall windows twice now.  I may have to reinstall them once more and I do NOT wish to install the updates again. He really never stops until I installed updates to windows. I thought that if I use the programs from Microsoft that it will work, because after all, it's all done by the same company, but no, nothing works. I am so in the sincere real despair. Be alone without technical skills, hardly what actually on my disability check, now I'm going to cut everyone. Now I can't do ANYTHING without it crashing, nothing fun anyway. I tried Microsoft fix, I tried so many solutions. I paid for Adobe photoshop, because I like to draw things and I'm terrified to install it. I'm afraid to do anything fun or useful on this computer.

If I can afford a new computer at any time, I think I will try Apple, I lost my trust in Windows. Unless they make an effort to solve this problem, then I would give them a chance again, but not if they will try to help. I'm so frustrated. I spend a lot of money on this computer, it's an ENTERTAINMENT laptop and I get not very amused.

    What is going on?

    Hello

Could be heat related - try using a small fan to blow into the air intakes to see if that helps.
It is just like it loses power or stop it in the normal way? Heat associated
does not necessarily mean excessive heat, it could be something is too sensitive to the same
normal levels of heat. Also a computer will produce more heat as is pointed out how adding
software or updates, among other measures, causes it. Of course those actions should not
cause enough stress or heat to shut down the computer.

For a laptop on everything that you can do is reinstall the memory and clean the ventilation openings (still may try to add
a small fan as a test). Of course first remove all power.

This sounds like material so if the above does not help you then probably need help
a real computer store (not the leeks and the glances at a Best Buy or other stores) or the
    Support of system Maker.
