  I used a lot of tv as honestech TVR 2.0, Intervideo windvr software 3, HT TV Plus gold but none can deliever the sound.

  Then I stumbled on Ulead DVD movie factory software that is packaged with my Vista Home Basic when I bought my laptop.

  I looked at the advanced video capture option, but there is no audio input source. It makes me wonder, if the supplied software, given my toshiba itself cannot solve this problem, it is must be something wrong here.   Just one additional bit of information for others. Other people I have rad and conversed with who have had the same question said that they could play the DVD movie with sound after you install the original version of Vista and even the SP1 update.   Try to remove the system disk in Device Manager and then restart and let find Vista and resintall the device.  If you have software and / or the drivers provided by the manufacturer, those must be uninstalled and reinstalled.

  You can also try a back a system restore date before the problem occurred.

  To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:
  Click Start
  Type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore listed programs.
  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
  In the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.
  In the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.
  Click Finish.

  The computer restarts and system files and settings are back to the State they were in when the restore point was created.
