S2409W, setting HDMI will not go into power saving mode?

So I searched high and low on these forums of the Dell Community (and other sites) and I've not seen this documented problem. The problem I have is when I plug the cable HDMI to computer (Tower slim 530) to my s2409w, I get a nice clear picture and everything works as expected, until I put the computer in standby mode.  The computer sleeps, but the monitor turns off almost as if he was going to sleep, but then display Saver screen default monitor that says "hdmi cable does not exist.  What I was expecting the screen to go to power save mode. When I use my DVI or VGA cable and put the computer to sleep, the computer and the monitor switch mode 'sleep' as expected.  This problem only occurs with HDMI. I tried setting the screen "automatic detection" and "hdmi" for the selection of cable and no work to put the monitor to sleep. Anyone has a solution, or similar experiences?  I've seen a lot of posts on power audio hdmi save the problem, but not with this one.

-Thank you

I know this is an old thread, but I had the same problem with another Dell monitor and a homemade computer.  In another thread, someone said that some cables HDMI I have this problem, and others do not.  I just wanted to confirm that it IS THE CABLE.

I swapped HDMI cables with my TV.  The TV had a cable older and thicker.  Immediately after that, the monitor will now sleep just right.  What I can guess is the skip of thin cables really cheap make the connections required for this feature since the TVs didn't have standby mode.

    Hi Oliver

I read your messages carefully and I'm really a bit confused. As far as I know all the tools pre-installed on each unit of Toshiba are tested. Sleep mode and standby extended too and I can't really understand what is happening in your case.

The problem may be caused by the use of some third-party software of the part. In my opinion, do not do some experiments with non-Toshiba (driver chipset or display) software, because the software is adapted to the architecture of the unit and equipment.

  • Monitor Dell Vostro 2705 keeps going into power saving mode

I have a Dell Vostro 2705. When I turn it on, the screen goes into power saving mode. We tried with a different monitor and it still does not work. I do not see there is a separate video card to replace it. Can it be fixed or is - a new computer?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

    Hello

Its usually a faulty motherboard. So the only option is to get the Board replaced.

You can try doing a power cycle and if still doesn't work then a replacement of the Board of Directors.

I have a client with a 660 Inspiron, and while working on this subject, the monitor goes into power saving mode.  Using another monitor has the same results. Now, here's the catch, the motherboard has been replaced with the same results so Dell sent his computer to another. After that set up the new computer things seemed to be OK for about 30 minutes, and then the new computer came into power saving mode. Again with another monitor to get the same results. Any thoughts?

  • Monitor goes into power saving mode or restarting PC

I recently bought a Dell XP 8500 with 7870 AMD and Dell U241M monitor.

When the computer is turned off for awhile (overnight, for example), the monitor almost always goes into energy saving mode while the PC starts in the AM (I do not see the BIOS/post visuals). If I stop the PC and power cycle a few times (turn on/off the monitor and the PC at the same time) it will generally work after 3-4 tests.

"Sleep" mode on the PC is turned off.

If I turn off the PC for the night and leave the monitor to go to sleep, the monitor wakes up fine when I move the mouse the next AM.

If I turn off the PC overnight and also If turned off the monitor, PC restarts when I turn on the monitor of the AOS .

If I turn off the PC or the monitor for a few minutes, it will work the next time it starts perfectly. The problems seem to be when he stayed all night.

I have exchanged monitors and see the same problem with the XPS and another monitor, while the U2412M works fine on another PC.

I tried DVI - DVI and DisplayPort to DisplayPort Cable with no difference. I tried to plug in a different bar / food. I tried to replace the GPU and checked that GPU power cable connections are tight.

So, I guess that the problem is in the hardware XPS GPU or PSU and I'm quite surprised it didn't fall Dell quality control (or it has been damaged during transport?).

Any thoughts? I don't really want a backup and reconfigure a new Tower and thought that I would get away from this kind of problems by going with a Dell.

    Thank you

    Sam

For those who might wonder what was the end result, Dell has replaced the GPU and now it's fine.

  • Computer runs continuously check disk and automatically goes into power saving mode.

2 days ago my computer was working fine, then yesterday he wanted to run the check disk at startup upward. Finished, he found no errors and proceeded to vista loading which then stated that he was going to power saving mode, the screen went black and clear screen turned yellow. Now he wants to run the check disk on every restart and ends with her past in power saving mode. I've only got 1 successful start since this all started. I tried to start in safe mode but it freezes. I also tried to boot to the last known configuration but that only prompted an another disk check and ended just as vain as other attempts. The hard drive is only a year so it should not be failing already. I don't know what I should try. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    Hello

    1. have you made changes on the computer recently?

    2. What is the brand and model of the computer?

    Method 1.

Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click programs, accessories principally made, right-click Guest, and then click Run as administrator.

The correct way to disable CHKDSK to start use the on command chkntfs /x switch in command prompt. The /x switch will exclude a verification by default startup car. If you have drive C: as your hard drive, then the command to disable chkdsk C: drive analysis would be:

    chkntfs /x c:

If you have 2 drives C and D, you can disable chkdsk with the command below

    chkntfs /x c: d:

    So go ahead and restart.

How to back up and restore the registry in Windows

Here are the steps to disable checkdisk at startup.

1 - click on the 'Start' menu of Windows on the desktop and click on "Search" (Windows Vista or 7).

    2. Type "regedit" in the search box and press 'Enter' to start recording.

3 - Click on '+' in the folder 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE' to develop. Click on the 'SYSTEM' folder and click on the folder "CurrentControlSet". Click on the 'Control' folder and then click on the "Session Manager" folder.

4 double click on 'BootExecute' on the right pane. You should see the default value of the key defined as autocheck autochk * (with asterisk). The asterisk (*) means that the Windows controls every drive for consistency. Add "/ K:C" at the end of the autocheck autochk * after the addition, the final value should look like this: autocheck autochk / k: C *.

5 - Click on "file" and click "Exit" to close the damper. Restart your computer. The disk check is no longer lance to the computer startup.

    Method 3.

  • My laptop goes into power saving mode after one minute. Someone knows why?

It's just started happening yesterday. I use a Toshiba laptop and out of nowhere, my PC goes in power saving mode after one minute when ALL my settings for this mode is 30 minutes. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Hi MattLipkint,

    1. Did you the latest changes on the computer?
    2. When was the last time it was working fine?
    3. You have security software installed on the computer?

    Method 1

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See section to learn more about how to clean boot.

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    (a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    (b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    (c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    (d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

    Method 2

If the previous step fails then I would suggest that you update the display adapter drivers, basic input/output system (BIOS) and motherboard chipset drivers.

Important: Change (CMOS) BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

    Hello Lollypop123,

    Welcome to the HP Forums.

Generally, when this kind of problem happens, it has to do with a problem of power or in most cases, are missing.

Please make sure you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a bar/power strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer for example, but it is intended for HP products in general. Please click the link which explains the problems when connected to an uninterruptible power supply/Strip/surge protector power.

When the printer is connected to a wall outlet, and it is running back, please use the power button to do a proper feeding cycle.  This will make a partial reset on the printer.

You are more than welcome to write me again if you have any other questions or if the troubleshooting does not help to solve your problem, I suggest you then call HP Technical Support to see all the other possibilities for you. • Monitor immediately goes into POWER SAVING MODE on startup

    Hello and HELP!

Just unpacked a Dell Inspiron 530, I bought in January 2009 (long story).

After all hang up, I turned it on. Monitor shows a brief moment, just a flash, AUTO DETECT (ANALOG INPUT) entering POWER SAVE, then it goes black and nothing that I bring him on.

This Inspiron came only with a VGA monitor plug. The flat screen has a DVI and VGA and DVI and VGA cables sheets. I connected the VGA cable to the VGA connectors.

I tried the fixes I found on this site: PC and disconnect the cable VGA pc and monitor, reconnect. Disconnecting power plug from the monitor, plug back. From the start, press the F6 key. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. He has been guaranteed.

I noticed when the monitor is not plugged into the pc and I turn it on, it flashes the message AUTO DETECT (ANALOG INPUT) entering POWER SAVING again and stops.

The cable would be bad? The video card would be bad? The video card could be on the DVI?
I can't even enter and see the BIOS, blind without visual. The speakers are in the monitor, and no sound is coming from them. Don't know if run even Windows (Vista).
