  Its usually a faulty motherboard. So the only option is to get the Board replaced.

  You can try doing a power cycle and if still doesn't work then a replacement of the Board of Directors.

  Looks like the defective video card/cable eventually.  Could be power issues or motherboard as well.

  I have Win7 Pro SP1 x 64.  I downloaded WindowsXPMode_en - us.exe (from Microsoft downloads) and run it.  The installation seems to work OK (I've specified a different location for the parent virtual hard disk file).  Then, installation happening and I provide the information requested (name of user and password for the XP Mode), updates Windows and OK to the issue of sharing.  The installation program then reports the following error:

  I get the error even if I try manually configure XP Mode (use the Setup Wizard).  I downloaded the installer XPMode (3 times) and reinstalled several times, always with the same result.  If it helps, I can't locate anywhere .vsv file.

  Any idea what's going on?

  I tried to RTFM, but research for this error go empty.  I'm curious to know why Internet Explorer being participates in it at first. But mostly, I'm just curious as to how to get this thing to work.

• Best practices for p2v - when to stop the physical machine?

  After you perform a p2v conversion, when should I stop the physical machine? By default, the virtual machine is turned off after the conversion and characterized by a DHCP address and not the static address that was on the physical machine... Why is this? Not the virtual machine is a duplicate... maybe it's a setting I'm missing the conversion.

  Looking for a better practice for the p2v conversion process.

  Hello and welcome to the forums.

  I tend to do the conversion and to choose to not to turn on the virtual machine later.  Once the conversion is completed, I make changes on the hardware as needed and then make sure that "Connect at Power On" is not checked in the device status of the NICs.  Now you can power up to the virtual machine and do what you need to do to prepare (uninstall the old software, change HALs, etc.) without fear of being on the network with the same name or IP address.  Once everything is good in Event Viewer, Device Manager, etc. - I shut down the physical server and then turn on the virtual machine with a "wired" network adapter to test.

  Another option would be to use the "Customize the identity of the virtual machine" option towards the end of the wizard import, if you need to be able to have the physical server and the virtual machine on the network at the same time.  This customization will give you virtual machine, a new name server and SID, and then you could just set it to a different IP address.

  • I am running Windows 7 for packs SP 1 or SP 2 does NOT solve my problem since neither one works with Windows 7.  Is there a way to search for this MUI (Multiple User Interface) missing file? The every thing must have himself installed in the first place. I took my mom (she died in June) and my brother on this PC as users so even if they do not use this PC supports multiple users. Maybe if I deleted as a reboot and additional users it will solve my problems. My updates install OK but I can't run at all system restore.     OK I tried everything and nothing works! Only added beginners are updated browser Opera 10.63; IE9 (Beta); Firefox 3.6.12 and Google Chrome 7.0.517.41 and Java 22. Of course like everyone else in the world, I had to uninstall/enable and disable/download again and reinstall new Adobe Flash 10 and 11 of the shock wave and they keep crashing too! Hello 4 keep screwing browsers and now I get connection network problems. I run Comcast doctor and did everything it said to do, but nothing works. Oh and I added 7-Zip and WinZip also.
