S2716DG, EVGA GTX 680, can't select 144 Hz, 120 Hz only?

I just got my new S2716DG and was glad to get things running.

I connected with the cable from port to screen included and updated my drivers nvidia for the latest version.

When I go into the two Nvidia Control Panel Windows &, I'm able to select only 120 HZ as my maximum refresh rate. I went through all the resolutions lower (I'm at the top) and no opportunity is given to select 144 Hz.

For context, I use an EVGA GTX 680.

Is this a known issue? Is this a driver problem? Is there a solution?

Someone suggested to create a custom resolution and by adjusting the refresh rate of 144 Hz - this would be a temp. Difficulty?

support nVidia ticket answer for this some time ago, hope that helps

«I have discussed this issue with development and after some research on the specification of what is expected due to the limitation HW.» The 2560x1440@144Hz of resolution would require a 586 Mhz pixel clock. Max GeForce GTX 770 pixel clock is 540 Mhz. You will need a 980 GPU GTX class, which has a higher pixel clock in order to support the 2560x1440@144hz resolution. Let me know if you have any questions. »

  • HP Desktop mastering Pegatron Truckee MB SLI with GTX 680 Information

I just wanted to post this bit of information to you about weather SLI will WORK with HP desktop or not.

I noticed through the forums on the web and even after having talk with several personal customer support at HP that some say SLI was possible on HP desktop computers and other said that it was not I've talked 4 different HP capacity SLI employee and they have all said that it works on HP desktop even after having them reassures me over and over again.

I'm here to tell you I gave a test with two EVGA GTX 680 in my HPE-490 and it does not work... the computer will recognize the two cards and allow you to use one as a main card and another form of physx card but the "SLI" option is never accessible to the general public in the same nvidia Control Panel after the graphics card driver update and reset the bios of the motherboard... also tried three different bridges SLI make sure that the bridge was not defective... but these two cards have worked in SLI, immediately after their installation in my computer self built Sandybridge brother.

Currently I use an EVGA GTX 680 FTW and an OEM GTX 460 as a card... let physx I also tell you that if you decide to use twp graphics cards (one for the card other hand physx) that you need to put your main in the top slot graphics card and the physx card into the slot in the bottom... the motherboard will default to read the top slot as the main Board if two cards are plugged on it in order to make this work you have to do it like that.

Some of you are probably wondering how can I adapt this in a HP desktop environment... Let me tell you, it's a very tight fit and I had to cut away some of the guts of the computer to make it fit.

The GTX 680 has been incredible, but there are a few quirks, you must be aware of the especialy if you try to put one of those cards in a computer with not much airflow... these cards will be truly downclock, which can adversely affect performance if hit 70 degrees temperature... so you'll have to add some case fans to blow on the cards (like me) or remove the side panel to allow more fresh air in the case after that I'm ideling at 36 ° c with my two GTX 460 and GTX 680 games I stay less than 62 degrees because I have an aggressive profile fan put in place in precision X keep this way some of you are probably thinking cards will get really strong when you do but as long as you take a 680 GTX which uses the type of spare parts / fans is not a problem... the GTX 680 FTW model uses a quiet fan, which is not unpleasant to blow to it's max, but I also used a stock GTX 680 and it was a little hard to do and the GTX 670 is even stronger running full tilt.

I wanted to just send you this information in the hope that it may help someone make sure that if you get a card 600 series to improve your diet for a beautiful 650 watts or under power with at least 38 amps on the rail... I recommend the Corsair HX650.

    Happy gaming.

I got this figured out. They bother running to the PCI-E 2.0X16@16 2.0 as they should.

On the Adobe site, he States:

And while I ask questions of Action, in an existing action, how do I start recording so that the new shares are placed right at the top? If I select the name of the Action, the new record is placed in the lower part. If I select the first element, the new record is ranked second.

    Marc, welcome to the forum.

Yes, I think that your motherboard should be compatible with the video card.  The card requires UEFI in the motherboard and your mother should have.  Just be aware that the specifications concerning the State of the map that it requires only a power supply (PSU) with 300W power.  Many members have reported that it is rather 400W.  You can try with the current POWER supply, but if this does not work I suggest one made by Corsair.  I recommend at least 500W.

  • GTX 580 3 GB or GTX 680 2GB

Hello everyone, I have a question.

I recently built an x 79 sys 3930 k, I bought an EVGA gtx 580 3 GB for the EMT PP... EVGA offers a step-up program for 90 days I can identify a better card. I just bought the card March 3, so I have a few more months. However, I walked in their for a step-up to the 680 2 GB gtx for the place in Cuda Cores... but because I've learned a few videos is Adobe After Effects will use all the VRAM (3 GB for my 580) and get a sorta performance increase? Can someone explain to me what I would be missing

ranging up to 2 GB 3 GB of video memory... Can I cancel my Step Up and pull together again for 2 months more... to see if the EVGA offers the 4 GB, at that time version here. At that moment I would enter again them step up program and upgrade to the 680 4 GB gtx... because it is I pay only shipping (8.40) for jumping to the 680 2GB, 4 GB version might cost a little more ($50-100) what the devil do... Although I do not have consequences at the moment I expect heavy-duty... I'm not worried to apply the hack for the 680...

Difficult question right now. It depends on a number of things. What type of material edit you? If it includes RED 4 K or 5 K EPIC, I would certainly wait for version 4 GB, but if you do this regularly, or only in small amounts, then the 2 GB version may be sufficient. The 680 GTX of course has the advantage of being PCIe 3.0, which can be put to good use on your 2011 platform and is supported by three or four monitors, something can't make the 580. If the 680 will be faster than the 580 with 3 GB remains to be seen. CUDA cores has tripled, but the memory bus went from 384 to 256 bits, and unclear yet what impact that will have on performance.

A second thing to consider is your destination AE, which you say will be heavy in the future. LLE done that After Effects can use several graphics processors for CUDA computation (for rendering 3D traced the beam engine) makes use of some sensible GPU configurations that may have been a waste for Premiere Pro.

IMO, you have the following options, including the announced but not yet available version 4 GB of the 680:

1 stick to the 580, but add a 560 Ti for AE and direction a third monitor.

    2. raise the 680 2 GB for the direction of a third monitor, but with the risk of running out of VRAM with RED material or EPIC and, hence, reduction only in software mode.

3 raise the 680 4 GB for management a third monitor without risk of tipping in software mode.

    4. take a bet that the 685/690 with a 384 bits memory bus may be announced in the near future (unlikely).

The problem is that TSMC, the provider of the nVidia 28 nm chips has requirements to encounter serious difficulties for these chips. See http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20120405PD218.html

  • HP Pavilion HPE h8-1214: GPU EVGA GTX 750TI will work with my HPE h8-1214

Hello. I plan to update my graphics card soon. Accoring to this, I have a card Mother Angelica. I read another post here of a user having a h8-1230 with a card Mother Angelica Revision2 , who said the EVGA GTX 750TI was inconsistent with this Council, and that he should look for a version of the 750TI MSI instead.

I was wondering if the same applies to my PC because my model is older that the other user has been. I prefer to use the EVGA GPU version, as it is cheaper than the MSI one, but I need to know if it will work with my computer. If not, will the labour card ASUS model, or should it be MSI? The map I intend to buy is present (EVGA) or this (ASUS).

In addition to this, does anyone know if the stock fans and 300W power supply provided with this computer would be appropriate for the new card, or not? I'm looking forward already pass the power supply, but I don't know for the fans. If I were to upgrade the PSU, 430W would be enough, or should I go with 500W? Thank you.

If anyone in the future who might wonder, I had this GPU works on my computer, but I had to buy a specific version of the map and the way I got it to work was pretty weird.

You need to buy this version MSI of the card, because the card itself has a switch on to change the UEFI to Jack supported BIOS Legacy. As far as I know, other versions of this card are UEFI only, and this computer does not support UEFI, so he needs a card that can run in the traditional way. It may look like a fit snug in the case, but it does not seem to cause problems and it cools very well with fans.

I also changed to a block of power SUPPLY Corsair 430W, which seems more than enough for the system, even with the card to load max. You could go to a higher power, if you consider the upgrade of several pieces, or reuse the power supply in a more powerful system later. I have not upgraded fans in the computer and do not seem to have cooling problems.

    Now to make it work...

    I had some questions:

When I first turned on the computer, it froze on the screen of the POST (the first screen with the HP logo). It would allow me to get into the BIOS, and it would beep 4 times (with long breaks between the two), before finally to a black screen with a cursor blinking and just stay there.

What finally got it to work:

I disconnected all the instructors of the map (cables VGA, DVI or HDMI), and then I turned on the computer. Without any monitor plugged, the computer should beep 6 times (the power button LED flashing with it), then the power led turns off. The LED went off as soon as I plugged my monitor into the computer (in my case, I used a VGA cord).

For the first few seconds, the screen remained blank and does not save a connection. The computer is beeping intermittently for a while, then after about a minute my detected monitor suddenly a signal, and the screen displays the Windows splash screen. I was able to boot into Windows, all right, even if the resolution of the screen will be a little goofy, until you install the drivers.

I jumped in the driver installation CD, and once it finished installing, I restarted the computer. Now, when it restarted, I had to do the same procedure I mentioned above so that he could start again. Now that the drivers are installed, I don't know if I'll have to do this procedure everytime I restart the computer (don't have not shut down since then), but since I rarely shut down my computer, it's worth it to me.

Hope this helps someone else, because I know that I spent 10 hours searching for ideas before discovering this solution myself.

Now that it is running, I have problems and I have run several graphics intensive games on it without any problem with cooling or power draw. It is very quiet, too. Even with a game running on high quality graphics, I can barely hear the fans when there is no other sound in the room.

  • EVGA GTX 750 TI

Hello, so I bought a ti EVGA GTX 750 yesterday and, to my dismay, the computer just sits there at the HP logo.

I hear no beeps or anything and the fan runs. If I tap Ctrl + alt + del it restarts but I'm still hanging on the hp logo.

My PSU IS only 300W so I of course upgrade that today, but I have read many reports that the EVGA 750 it can run successfully on a power supply with 300 watts. would it be just the PSU! What are these symptoms? I was under the impression that if I could not get enough power to the pc card would not turn, or the fan would not turn?

I read a lot of things in the last 24 hours, and I'm not sure how I should proceed with the question of fixing.

It is my understanding that this card is not compatible with my bios?  (which is the latest version of M3970AM - (Angelica2))

But while I was reading another thread on here saying apparently that the ti MSI GTX 750 has a switch that will make working with the legacy bios?  Is this true?

should I go buy the MSI card? or return this and just get something all together? I would REALLY like a 750ti if I could. Thank you in advance for your help!

Many brands and models of the NVIDIA GTX 750 will not work on HP computers that do not have a BIOS version 8.  The models MSI below provide a switch for use with UEFI and BIOS PCs.

  • GPU upgrade 2 GB Evga GTX 550 Ti suggestions?

I am looking to upgrade to a 970 GTX Gigabyte G1 Gaming or an EVGA if I'm looking at other brands as well.

    Budget around $350.00 USD.

I'm still doing research and research with options open but I'm really more leaning to the Nvidia 970.

My CPU is limiting the PCI-E x 16 running at 2.0 speeds, but even with that, I think that the 970 would be

the best choice in the GPU upgrade.  Thoughts or alternatives?  You want something that works long term and not just

buy something cheap, until the next thing comes.

I'm NOT a gamer I mainly webdesign so a lot of image, video and audio editing. I'm more a combination

between an advertising marketing exec and a web developer with programming in PHP, JavaScript and all back-end

stuff with databases and also web video and audio stuff etc... I just combine it all in the title of Web Designer for the conversation

who actually confuses real webdesigners because I build a LOT more than just html and css pages.

It is a type of prosumer system where it is used for work and entertainment. Watching movies and streaming video

This works well on the current computer and I actually don't really need more of an upgrade beyond the GPU as this computer

It meets my needs and has 2 years.  I expect to keep for a few years, I have built computers that will last

me 3 to 5 years, will eventually build a new, but for now everything works great.

I honestly don't care about having the biggest and best just something that will work for more than a year or two and meet my needs.

But it seems that the GPU tech is going through a revolution where the old technology begins to be depreciated and will not be taken in charge a large part

in the future I am looking to get a new video card might as well go with the new stuff now so it will be supported in the long term

    everyone at some point.

I'm just confused by models and manufacturers or resellers who slap their label on Nvidia technology.  Who is the best with little no.

problems.  EVGA seems to be popular, it's my current card brand, but I like the Gigabyte G1 with additional display ports and

possibility of having 4 monitors at the same time IF it can be inserted into my system, it's HUGE.

It was custom built by a store of the local computer that is off from where go out of business.

The upgrade of processor or motherboard is NOT an option that some purchased software is old school licensed

with attached directly to the CPU and the MOBO that cost more than the entire computer to buy

licenses (not associated with Adobe Professional software).  In addition the upgrade MOBO or CPU, you are required to

Microsoft to buy a new license for windows and windows 7 can probably just reactivated windows 8 can not.

This motherboard is a motherboard micro, I didn't know that until recently. I did not build the computer myself.

I had no idea of what food was until a few days ago, but everything worked 100% for about 2 years.

I'll have to update the bios of the motherboard before actually being able to use the new video card, but others have the same model

and it seems to work as well... I have a request to Gigabyte but just to check before actually buying.

Remember though it is a Ti 550 video card I currently have and almost any update would see great improvement.

Physical size wise how much greater is the 970 compared to 550 it 2 GB Evga gtx?   I add 2 GB because it

are other 550 which are totally different aspect that my card.

Also if you have any suggestions for the PSU that would be much too.   So far Seasonic, Antec and EVGA are brands that seem to

forthcoming models much earlier.  Not sure about the rating as some out Bronze models perform other models gold or Platinum so...

Budget about $150.00 USD for a new power supply too.

Thanks for reading this and for any suggestion, sorry that I can't upgrade mobo or cpu to be able to run amok with ideas, it is some what may be limiting.

Essentially, it's the GPU and PSU will extend my current level of use of a few years and the GPU has better performance even with

the other tech and bottlenecks in this particular system.

Like Bob of the Peru said. The money you would have spent on a GTX 970 would have been much larger than any improvement in performance that you could achieve (on a systemic basis, not only a specific component). In fact, the cost of a single GTX 970 would have been almost as much money as the rest of your entire system combined - and yet, the upgrade provides more than an improvement of 5 to 10 percent in terms of total return.

Very recently, I upgraded an i7 - 3770K and Z77 to an i7 - 4790K and Z97. Mainly because I wanted to spend my project/player and cache drive to SSD (s) in the not too distant future. (The Z77 supports two SATA 6.0 Gbps ports and 4 SATA ports 3.0 Gbps in native mode, which is the impetus for this upgrade). But in order to take account of the upgrade of the CPU, I had to get off my GPU slightly to a 660 GTX for a GTX 750 Ti (for my particular workflow, GTX 750 it performed almost as well as the GPU high-end in terms of overall performance of the system).

That said, there are reasons to move a GPU for a GPU to budget (or even ultra-low-budget, for that matter) to a 'Warrior' or the 'monster' GPU. But improving rendering performance on such a limited as LGA 1155 Sandy Bridge platform is not one of them. And a GPU upgrade is valid IMHO only if the rest of the construction of PC is to speed - with a much higher total system start-up costs.

Moreover, a single 1 TB WD black or blue (versions WD10EZEX and WD1003FZEX, respectively) may not achieve the best 180 - ish MB/sec - and it's on the outside tracks of his tray. A HDD WD four-year-old (Blue WD10EALS or Black WD1002FAEX) at 7200 RPM have barely hit 125 MB/s on the outside rails. As such, with disks one alone, I agree with the other responses: remember to save it upward to an i7-4790 a W97 chipsets motherboard instead of lose a single penny on this generation i7-2600/H61 (your current system, by the way, is completely maxed out on RAM to only 16 GB total - and you can not pass the RAM any more far away).

In other words, your current PC is, indeed, obsolete (as in "cancelled" or 'is there something better now in this category', not ' is no longer useful or usable").

  • EVGA GTX 750 + X 51 R1 HELP URGENT

Hello, this all started Wednesday when I got my EVGA GTX 750. I am a complete newbie to the PC and has committed several fouls, I was just following internet stupidly.

I installed the GTX 750 and error code 12.

What I had read I had to reset the bios and reset the cmos.

    What I did,

This led to 5 beep codes (which I had read online that I should update the bios to the A14 to the version it, so I have not tried yet).

Foolishly, I did not put my GTX 555 back in and start.

Beep codes, I tried to reset cmos by riders or something else and this led to the failure of the BIOS and hard drive. I had to start in the UEFI and reinstall windows. (with my GTX 555 inside)

From there I have updated drivers and licence my on-board card and GTX 555 to rework.

I noticed that my time kept reset each time power off, as well as to have no display on/off the bios boot.

For a time I even once I reset my CMOS and then changed the time in the bios.

The time now is very good, that I had to reinstall windows and start from UEFI again.

I tried to reinstall the GTX 750, but he couldn't-

When I directly connect and start I get no MESSAGE or beeps.

When I plug my HDMI on my Board, I get a single beep.

When I plug in my onboard, then move to the GTX 750, I get 5 beep codes.

Also, after reinstallation of my GTX 555, bios had no display, but my cmos has the correct time.

Now I'm just sitting here, typing this.

I want to install the GTX 750, the only solution I found is to update my bios.

That's why my BIOS no display?

How can I update my BIOS without chances of brick? All dell reference sites say through windows, but I read there's a chance so bricklaying, even with an almost new installation of windows.

How to upgrade the bios? -J' currently have A03. Should I go directly to the A14? or A03. A06, A11 then 14? Can someone send me specific information?

I spent 5 days in the search and the last 2 days of evil.

    Hey Evo,.

When you say that the GTX 750 showed 'error code 12' I assume you mean inside the Windows Device Manager? This error means that the system doesn't have enough resources to access the device. In other words this means that the drivers are missing, the graphics card is defective, your BIOS is set wrong or firmware BIOS will not support the material.

Is not limited to much, I know.

So let's try to evaluate the beep codes first, because that has nothing to do with Windows.

For Alienware systems 1 beep means that the ROM BIOS failure has occurred (sometimes it is simply a checksum error). Let's hope for a checksum error like this can be caused by a CMOS battery failure. Which brings us to 5 beep codes that indicates a failure of real time clock; which translates into a lack of CMOS battery. So why don't you try replace this battery?

Remove the battery CMOS & check at the back of the it. They usually have something like E #-just match that number upward with an another Energizer & Duracell one, use the same codes that I know. I'm sure they are standardized (as "AA" or "D" batteries).

Let us know if that equals enter you Windows.

  • First Pro CS6 and GTX 680

I recently updated my video card to a GTX 580 to a GTX 680. Initially, PP did not recognize the card and I had to add it manually to the config (?).

My problem is that PP CS6 very poor use of my new card. My render times are slower than before. When I check the use of the GPU, it keeps jumping up and down. It never reaches more than 40% weird.

    I'm doing something wrong?

The 680 GTX is a Kepler-class card. As you have noted, this isn't a card that uses Premiere Pro CS6 for GPU acceleration. You applied a hack to run as until now is, but be aware that there work additional actually engineering/development to do on our side to make this card works with Premiere Pro.

I won't comment on when or if that the work will be done, but I can point to the fact that After Effects has received an update the month last to use the Kepler maps:

    dded-GPU-and-3D-Renderer-support.html http://blogs.adobe.com/toddkopriva/2012/05/After-Effects-CS6-11-0-1-Update-bug-fixes-and-a

You might be able to make a few assumptions about Premiere Pro based on this fact.

  • What is after effects work with my GTX 680 cs6?

Hello, I have a GTX 680, but After Effects doen´t see it. I can´t use the CUDAS 1500 + to render!

I have seen that the Gtx 570 works, so I think the GTX 680 would work too!

    I do?

It s a great graphics card but for software issues I can´t use it!

There will be an upgrade in after using it? (hope Don t be in one year on the release of Cs6.5!)

Thank you and greetings from La Argentina

Yes, today we added the GTX 680 to the lsit of the GPU, which can be used for GPU acceleration plotted in 3D rendering engine Department.

This requires the After Effects CS6 (11.0.1) update: http://adobe.ly/Li3x61
