GTX 580 3 GB or GTX 680 2GB

Hello everyone, I have a question.

I recently built an x 79 sys 3930 k, I bought an EVGA gtx 580 3 GB for the EMT PP... EVGA offers a step-up program for 90 days I can identify a better card. I just bought the card March 3, so I have a few more months. However, I walked in their for a step-up to the 680 2 GB gtx for the place in Cuda Cores... but because I've learned a few videos is Adobe After Effects will use all the VRAM (3 GB for my 580) and get a sorta performance increase? Can someone explain to me what I would be missing

ranging up to 2 GB 3 GB of video memory... Can I cancel my Step Up and pull together again for 2 months more... to see if the EVGA offers the 4 GB, at that time version here. At that moment I would enter again them step up program and upgrade to the 680 4 GB gtx... because it is I pay only shipping (8.40) for jumping to the 680 2GB, 4 GB version might cost a little more ($50-100) what the devil do... Although I do not have consequences at the moment I expect heavy-duty... I'm not worried to apply the hack for the 680...

Difficult question right now. It depends on a number of things. What type of material edit you? If it includes RED 4 K or 5 K EPIC, I would certainly wait for version 4 GB, but if you do this regularly, or only in small amounts, then the 2 GB version may be sufficient. The 680 GTX of course has the advantage of being PCIe 3.0, which can be put to good use on your 2011 platform and is supported by three or four monitors, something can't make the 580. If the 680 will be faster than the 580 with 3 GB remains to be seen. CUDA cores has tripled, but the memory bus went from 384 to 256 bits, and unclear yet what impact that will have on performance.

A second thing to consider is your destination AE, which you say will be heavy in the future. LLE done that After Effects can use several graphics processors for CUDA computation (for rendering 3D traced the beam engine) makes use of some sensible GPU configurations that may have been a waste for Premiere Pro.

IMO, you have the following options, including the announced but not yet available version 4 GB of the 680:

1 stick to the 580, but add a 560 Ti for AE and direction a third monitor.

2. raise the 680 2 GB for the direction of a third monitor, but with the risk of running out of VRAM with RED material or EPIC and, hence, reduction only in software mode.

3 raise the 680 4 GB for management a third monitor without risk of tipping in software mode.

4. take a bet that the 685/690 with a 384 bits memory bus may be announced in the near future (unlikely).

The problem is that TSMC, the provider of the nVidia 28 nm chips has requirements to encounter serious difficulties for these chips. See http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20120405PD218.html

I recently updated my video card to a GTX 580 to a GTX 680. Initially, PP did not recognize the card and I had to add it manually to the config (?).

    I'm doing something wrong?

The 680 GTX is a Kepler-class card. As you have noted, this isn't a card that uses Premiere Pro CS6 for GPU acceleration. You applied a hack to run as until now is, but be aware that there work additional actually engineering/development to do on our side to make this card works with Premiere Pro.

I won't comment on when or if that the work will be done, but I can point to the fact that After Effects has received an update the month last to use the Kepler maps:

  • S2716DG, EVGA GTX 680, can't select 144 Hz, 120 Hz only?

I just got my new S2716DG and was glad to get things running.

I connected with the cable from port to screen included and updated my drivers nvidia for the latest version.

When I go into the two Nvidia Control Panel Windows &, I'm able to select only 120 HZ as my maximum refresh rate. I went through all the resolutions lower (I'm at the top) and no opportunity is given to select 144 Hz.

For context, I use an EVGA GTX 680.

Is this a known issue? Is this a driver problem? Is there a solution?

Someone suggested to create a custom resolution and by adjusting the refresh rate of 144 Hz - this would be a temp. Difficulty?

  • HP Desktop mastering Pegatron Truckee MB SLI with GTX 680 Information

I just wanted to post this bit of information to you about weather SLI will WORK with HP desktop or not.

I noticed through the forums on the web and even after having talk with several personal customer support at HP that some say SLI was possible on HP desktop computers and other said that it was not I've talked 4 different HP capacity SLI employee and they have all said that it works on HP desktop even after having them reassures me over and over again.

I'm here to tell you I gave a test with two EVGA GTX 680 in my HPE-490 and it does not work... the computer will recognize the two cards and allow you to use one as a main card and another form of physx card but the "SLI" option is never accessible to the general public in the same nvidia Control Panel after the graphics card driver update and reset the bios of the motherboard... also tried three different bridges SLI make sure that the bridge was not defective... but these two cards have worked in SLI, immediately after their installation in my computer self built Sandybridge brother.

Currently I use an EVGA GTX 680 FTW and an OEM GTX 460 as a card... let physx I also tell you that if you decide to use twp graphics cards (one for the card other hand physx) that you need to put your main in the top slot graphics card and the physx card into the slot in the bottom... the motherboard will default to read the top slot as the main Board if two cards are plugged on it in order to make this work you have to do it like that.

Some of you are probably wondering how can I adapt this in a HP desktop environment... Let me tell you, it's a very tight fit and I had to cut away some of the guts of the computer to make it fit.

The GTX 680 has been incredible, but there are a few quirks, you must be aware of the especialy if you try to put one of those cards in a computer with not much airflow... these cards will be truly downclock, which can adversely affect performance if hit 70 degrees temperature... so you'll have to add some case fans to blow on the cards (like me) or remove the side panel to allow more fresh air in the case after that I'm ideling at 36 ° c with my two GTX 460 and GTX 680 games I stay less than 62 degrees because I have an aggressive profile fan put in place in precision X keep this way some of you are probably thinking cards will get really strong when you do but as long as you take a 680 GTX which uses the type of spare parts / fans is not a problem... the GTX 680 FTW model uses a quiet fan, which is not unpleasant to blow to it's max, but I also used a stock GTX 680 and it was a little hard to do and the GTX 670 is even stronger running full tilt.

I wanted to just send you this information in the hope that it may help someone make sure that if you get a card 600 series to improve your diet for a beautiful 650 watts or under power with at least 38 amps on the rail... I recommend the Corsair HX650.

    Happy gaming.

I got this figured out. They bother running to the PCI-E 2.0X16@16 2.0 as they should.

    Pawel,

As you can see here, the two should work with GPU, so I doubt there will be much difference,

  • AE 2014.1.1 does not recognize my Nvidia GeForce GTX 680 more

I bought the card Nvidia GeForce GTX 680 (2 GB of VRAM) specifically to run on my Mac Pro 2012 with after effects CC and it worked fine.

Now, I've upgraded to AE 2014.1.1 and I get an error stating I have no CUDA compatible card and to install at least CUDA 5.0 (I have the latest installed 6.0.54) and I want to use Ray Tracing in AE, so it is quite a setback, I know what AE didn't use CUDA for much other than the acceleration of the interface a bit.

Ideas that happened and how do I get the AE to recognize a card lets it know?

    TIA

    Kevin

I found a solution to this!

I noticed when I checked in AE preferences it says he had not installed CUDA driver.

When I watched my CUDA driver through system preferences on my Mac, it said that there is no update available for my CUDA driver v 6.0.54

So I jumped on to CUDA downloads and there was a version 6.5 also supports OS x 10.10 Yosemite.

I installed and now After Effects 2014.1.1 use my GPU Nvidia GeForce GTX 680 Ray Trace mode!

  • H9 - 1170t supports Nvidia GTX 680?

The system has a 600W power supply

Your welcome. I hope it works for you, I don't want to come across as saying that it will work for you, but I will say that if I were in your shoes I would definantly give it a shot.

Even if it works, keep in mind if you overclock the card which will have much more power of the PS that can give problems.

If you're going to upgrade your desktop computer HP with a spare PSU and your HP uses the motherboard Pegatron IPMTB-TK he is VERY fussy about what replacement power supply will work with.

I installed several feeds on this motherboard and the only two I've ever had to work were 600v2 Corsair CX and the Corsair HX650... I tried several Seasonic supplies all failed... each failed with the exception of the cx600v2 and hx650 corsair, there seems to be a power limit of 650 watts or lower they can take more there are other underlying issues of compatibility (probably of various voltage problems) which are most after market office supplies does not work with desktop HP... just to let you know if you follow this path because I don't want you is the size on the ton of money to experiment with different power supplies as I did try to find on that works.

  • Windows 10 could be damaged my GTX 680 M

    Hi all

First of all I would like to say that I am writing this post after a long time (3-4 months) research and no not tried to solve my problem.

My Alienware M17x-R4 gives errors "display driver stopped responding and has recovered." everything at stake, causing many exe crashes and even complete computer freezes while gaming. Most of the time my screen becomes black and doesn't come back until I close & reopen my lit. Also I don't know if it is connected or not, but my device manager and my BIOS are not able to detect my integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000.

All these accidents and the integrated video card not detected number started after I upgraded my OS to Windows 10 Windows 8.1. At first I didn't even suspect that Windows 10 caused this. But after all this time and after that I found others have almost exactly the same problems after upgrading windows 10 I'm pretty sure that Windows 10 has something to do with it.

To clarify and summarize things since the beginning of the question:

I tried almost all common suggestions that the internet can offer to these accidents. Which is:

-Clean install of new Nvidia drivers. / rolling back to an older driver from nvidia.

-Creating a TdrDelay value in the registry files.

-Go back to Windows 7 with a clean install.

-Change my thermal paste on CPU & GPU. (Even my temperature values never went up to risky steps)

-Cleaning of the dust inside my laptop. (where he was not the one at all.)

These issues will never happen when I'm not game and pc is not powered. So I expressed whenever my PC sends the voltage highest for my CPU & GPU things start to happen. The fact that if I play only on battery (limits of PC hardware of voltage parts get while on battery) I never get these accidents showed that I am on the right way to make a diagnosis. Until a few days ago, I was very confident that it's a hardware problem and not a software problem and I suspect never upgrade Windows 10 because after that I returned to Windows 7, nothing has changed.

A few days ago, I learned that my cousin who has completely different platform began to have almost exactly the same questions I receive. driver crashes resulting black screen & integrated video card is not detectable. He said that he has just improved for Windows 10 and after a few days and a few updates, these accidents began to arrive. Then it hit me, my plant started after I upgraded my OS to Windows 10 too. A quick search shows that many people had similar problems with their equipment after upgrade windows 10. Some of them said that they had to change their cards.

So my question is, 10 Windows actually damage your equipment permanently or is it just a software problem that sticks even if you format your pc completely and downgrade to Windows 7? I know this is a serious charge, but after that I eliminated all my options is the only thing that makes sense. It is not a coincidence that two completely different rigging has the exactly the same problem after an upgrade of Windows 10. Notice that we used different sources to upgrade our windows at 10. This isn't a same file .iso or something like that.

I want that some members of authorized personnel of Alienware for help me fix this please. If it is a hardware problem, whose cause is not under my control, I refuse to pay for the repair and the replacement hardware, and if it is a software problem deep I want a helping hand please. I am very frustrated and completely tired of this question. I can't still have fun with simple routines of games every day. He has started to become a hatred of the Alienware brand.

    Thank you.

So, I solved this problem on a few days ago. Never had blocked it again. I still don't know the cause, but it turns out that for some reason my GPU has cause of instability when running at full speed, so when I lowered the Base of only 25 MHz clock offset my blocks instantly stopped. I use NvidiaInspector, but I believe you can also use other tools to overclocking.

  • Work with C4D jerks in the C4DLite and AE

    Hello

I recently discovered Lite C4D in AE and tried to create a simple 3D text to import then into EI.

However C4D Lite is very slow and jerky for example, when you use the rotation and move the visualization tools (the text he stutters / freezes when moving from the view when you create during short intervals, turning the wire 3D text then just a square). Once in AE, when you use the AE camera in 3D tool, it also translates into a jerky and very slow movement.

C4D recognises my GPU under the opengl settings. In addition, I played with the rendering of C4D plugin settings in AE (also try the new opengl mode). I also changed AEs parameters to set aside approximately 25% of RAM for other applications, while that join all my SSD cache. But it does not help.

Can you please tell how I can improve the performance of C4D Lite and its plugin in AE? Is it time to bury and change my GPU or pay for other expensive equipment enhancements make the process smoother? You can find the form below.

    Thank you!

  • Alienware X 51 RT2 Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 video card upgrade

    Hello

I have the Alienware X 51 RT2 with 330 Watt power supply and 8 GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1600 MHz.
    Currently, I have Nvidia GeForce 760 with 1. 5 G GDDR5 accompanying my Alienware X 51 RT2.

So, I want to upgrade my GPU GTX 960 (4 GB) if possible if not then of 2GB.

I don't know if this will work and works perfectly with my office:
    PNY GeForce GTX XLR8 960 4 GB graphics VCGGTX9604XPB

Need of your recommendation. This is a good option, or there is a better option?

    Thank you in advance.

Because Alienware has not tested or it has given approval. The same happened with the R1 GTX 670 and X 51. The GTX 670 ends up being a GPU supported for the X 51 R2 after testing. In theory, even a GTX 680 could work at the X 51, but you need a little powerful processor (like an i3 or a processor of T).

PNY has a GTX 970 you can use. As long as it looks like the PNY GTX 970, you good to go. First and foremost, I suggest you look at the sons of the X 51 + GTX 970 before making a decision. Not only those who have proven it works, but those warning as well. Do this first before answer please.

  • HP Z420 with Nvidia Gtx Titan

    Hello

I considered buying a Z420, and I intend to use maps of Titan since I rendered by GPU, as well as the CAD uses and in real time. (Autocad, Revit and 3d Max). I've used a Quadro 4000 card, but it is certainly not useful for real time rendering.

So in my case, a map of Titan is more advantageous. But today, I realized this of Nvidia Geforce series only is not supported for HP workstations. So, what should I do? Is there a way to use Titan with Z420? Should I look for another computer?

    Thanks in advance...

GTX Titan uses the 250W peak power and NVidia said a 600W PSU enough Z420 has a 600W PSU. So unless you have something else really your Z420 (such as five 15 K disks without spin shifted upwards) - the lust for power, you should be fine.

Personally, I have not used a Titan in a Z420 (GTX - 680 was the largest map that I installed) - once again - it looks good on paper.

HP will not support it in terms of pilots or guarantee-, but it will take care the rest of the system.

All that being said, a Z820 is a bit better suited to the Titan GTX...
