sad Mount of iMac 2009

Hi all.

Wanted to change the hard drive and installed a 1 TB Samsung EVO, watching the videos looks a little difficult, but changed to an SSD in my macbook pro 2.   However, a few steps more during the change of an SSD in an iMac.

I have an iMac late 2009 model.  The videos show that a mounting bracket is required for the SSD, because it is smaller than the original drive.  I have searched for a mounting bracket, but fails.   The tech told me that it must adapt and support is not necessary.  I don't want to open my iMac and then know that I need a support.

Can someone let me know if a support is necessary or the Samsung SSD will fit without support.

Thank you so much everyone.

I'd say you check/contact this site: OWC (macsales.com) - they are Mac centric; You can also watch videos to install on their site:

I would also like to look here Samsung SSD (seem to have problems) and their site for SSDS.

  • can I put a disc more into my imac 2009?

My wife has an iMac (2009) vintage with a hard drive internal 640 G which is fill to the top. She wondered if it can replace it with a larger drive, and if it is not a useful expenditure. (The computer plays very well this time, incidentally.)

    Thank you

Yes, you can, if it is quite difficult to replace HARD drive in iMac by yourself. You must order the replacement to the service provider.

Why not connect the external HARD drive and use it as data such as images and music player?

  • iMac 2009 upgrade Question

I have an iMac 2009 (20 ") with a 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4 GB RAM, 640 GB SATA HDD and running OS X 10.9.5. I know this machine is 'old', but I want to upgrade a new OS and get some speed back (lots of ball rotation range, especially using Safari). I get the runaround from people at the local store simply Mac, that push to get me to buy a new system. I think with most recent - especially the SSD - HDD I can upgrade to El Capitan and extend the life of this wonderful machine... especially since I can't afford or justify the purchase of new at the moment. Your thoughts?

IF you upgrade your ram to 8 GB and the switch on the rotation for one SSD HARD drive you will swear that you have a new machine. My late 2009 with 16 GB of ram and SSD never sees a spinning beachball. Mine is a quad core i5 processor, but I bet you'd be happy.

How can I selectively transfer files from an iMac 2009 to a new iMac in 2015? The two running os 10.11.3.

I do it with a G4 OS Tiger and the Mavericks MacBook by plugging into an Ethernet jack on my router and by enabling the sharing of files on the G4 in System Preferences > sharing.  If items are placed in a folder called 'Public', it can be read by anyone on the network by logging in as a guest. Otherwise, if I login with my user ID on this computer I get access read/write for all of my folders.

DVD player on the desktop iMac 2009 went to play DVDs on Yosemite.  What is the solution?

The first thing to try is a disc cleaning disc. About US$ 5-15 in most computer, office supplies and electronic. Loading slot discs get pretty dirty and this dirt/dust can interfere with proper disc. The cleaning disc is an inexpensive and simple step that often solves the problem.

  • The latest operating system running slow on an iMac 2009

    Thank you for your kindness.
I have a 2009 27 "iMac running the latest OS from August 2016.
Problem: It takes half an hour to move the mouse. Maybe a little exaggerated. But unusably slow.
In hindsight, it seems to have gotten slow slowly but faster to get slower lately... so now it takes half an hour to move the mouse.
How can I yet to diagnose the problem and find a solution?
    Once again, thank you!

    Hi commddot!

Looks like you're running into a problem where the iMac runs more slowly over time and is now to the point that it is difficult to do anything about it because of how long it takes to move the mouse.  I can only imagine how that would interfere with being able to use it for normal tasks while we must certainly take a look inside and see what happens with it.

One of the first things to check would be to see if there are elements of openness that could be causing the problem.  To do this, click the  in the upper left corner, click System Preferences.  From there, click users and groups, click connection points.  If you have things listed there, click on each one and then click on the symbol less box, it so that nothing is listed.  Then restart the iMac and test to see if it's better.

Also, take a look at the Activity Monitor to see if there is runaway applications or processes that could cause it to run more slowly.  If there are those who use a lot, then go ahead and stop the process.  Here, this article shows how to use the activity monitor: use on your Mac activity monitor

If it is still slow, so we would need to test it in a new user account and also in safe mode.  In this way we can isolate more when the question is in fact.  Read these articles to find out how to do this:

  • screen internal iMac 2009 has stopped working

    Hello world

I recently made a bunch of system updates (I've been long) and my internal screen no longer works. At startup, the gray screen appears and then goes to black before loading the full operating system. I connected to an external monitor that seems to work without problems. Every now and then when I wake up my computer, the internal display works for up to a minute then goes black again.

I tried some basic troubleshooting things that seem to help: 1. turn off the computer, unplug and leave for a few hours. 2 reset the NVRAM 3. I tried to run AHT but I'm do wrong ("D" of operation at startup) or I do not see the it, as my external display only started working once the operating system has started.

I wonder if it's a hardware problem or a software problem or even how I know.

A few years ago, I upgraded to 32 GB of RAM, which is not officially supported but have not had any problems with the computer since I did the upgrade.

    I'm on an iMac 27 "2009. MC507LL/A

Any help would be greatly appreciated on how I can fix this, or at least to know the cause of the problem. Please let me know if there is any additional details that may help to resolve the issue.

    Thank you very much!

You have the same problem if you try to restart in RecoverHD?  If you do,

Then, you can pretty well assume that you have a hardware problem.

If the startup in RecoverHD works fine, then restart normally with the external display

and back up all your data as a precaution.  Then reboot in Recovery and reinstall

OSX.  He should ' t do anything else, but the backup must be just in case.

  • What is the maximum size of external drive for iMac (2009)

Y at - it a maximum size of external drive that can be used for the iMac (late 2009 model)?

I believe that the greatest single external drive currently available is 6 TB, but I heard 8 of TB are coming or may even arrived. OS X does not have a capacity limitation on the HD that it can address.

  • Can I install Airdrop on my iMac 2009?

I am trying to upgrade my OSX 10.5.8 on my iMac9, 1 with Intel Core 2 Duo processor. I have installers for Yosemite and El Captain on my MacBook Pro, but I can't find a way to get them to the older iMac. It's current OSX is not supported by Dropbox, the file is too large for e-mail, even when condensed, and I don't have a CD that is large enough. Airdrop can be installed on my iMac and who would do the trick?

    Thanks for your suggestions.

    Catherine

    Your iMac does support AirDrop.

To update to OS X, you will need to do it in steps. First of all, on your iMac using Software Update in the  menu. This should take you to OS X 10.6.8 who will install the Mac App Store application. Once this is done, launch and use the screen more compatible fo updates updates.

  • iMac 2009 does not start

My imac has been running really slow, began with safari, so I switched browsers and that worked for a while the origin of the problem. So was slow today and I decided just to shut it down for a while and now it won't restart. When I hit the power button, it sounds and passes to the gray apple logo screen with the start-up of the below status bar, but when it comes to halfway, it just stops. I was able to start it in safe mode (?) Now command + option + r) and I was able to run disk utility, but when I ran check it or repairing, he said that player could not be parsed. I have a backup so I can certainly restore from that. but looks like it could be a more serious problem? In addition, I am running the latest operating system.

What you're saying, looks like your iMac's hard drive is seriously damaged. First of all, he started to work slowly, but now OS X will try to repair the drive each time you start, even if she can't, so your Mac goes off.

However, there is another problem: your Mac is now considered to be "obsolete", so Apple does not provide technical support for this. This means that you should look for a new hard drive for your iMac, install it and restore your Time Machine backup.
