Safari is moving at a crawl

My Mac works well in all areas except internet. Pages do not load or take forever and I have to hit the button reload several times. If I just stop and restart it is better, but only for a little while before he is bogged down again. Will erase everything and restart Safari help?

Depends on if the problem is in the speed of your Internet connection, which will be using Safari rather tedious, if it is related to the plugins/extensions you have installed, or if you have any antivirus / 'maintenance' installed, programs that may be using the computer in general hard.  Please post the results of your report to EtreCheck .  It is a tool of diagnosis developed by a contributor trusted and respected here, and this will allow us to see what is currently installed on your hard drive.  No sensitive information of any sort is included in the report, such as the e-mail address, passwords, serial numbers, etc.

  • Safari has slowed to a crawl.

Not sure if it started with updates of Yosemite or the latest version of Flash Player, but it seems to be deteriorating. It is especially noticeable when I try to check my email (www.mail.com). It is designated as my opening page, but if you connect brings me to this page, access my email takes forever. The same is true if I type in the address of the server manually.

Firefox also recognizes my login immediately, information while Safari makes me keep trying again and again.

I don't know how long contributions to open later, because after what looks like a reasonable length of time, if I switch to Mozilla Firefox, access to my mail is immediate then, after a quick check for new messages, if I go back to Safari, it is finally open.

I already started to remove items (such as cookies on the sites that I visit rarely... passwords that I use more... and the story that is more than a year, but none of this seems to help).

I don't know if the current update of browser everything is better, but after my experience with Yosemite, I'm hesitant to try.

I've been a Mac user for quite a long time to remember when you remove plists was an easy fix for most problems.  Had all but forgotten about it until I read an answer to a MacUser who recommended as a solution to a specific problem, but which have delayed looking for and removing Safari plist to what I don't know that it will not worsen.

Restart Safari by holding down the SHIFT key. If you still have problems of Caches empty (Safari menu > Preferences > privacy > remove all data from the Web site.) (This will also remove the history) If the problem persists, download and run MalwareBytes.

  • Safari by moving my nav buttons

    Hello

I tested this www.schoolsofmiracles.org site in all major browsers. For some reason any Safari takes my nav buttons and throws them to the right. (All other browsers display correctly). The nav buttons CSS has 10px of padding on top and low, but nothing else.

Tried adjujsting the wrapper and the various other div but no joy. No idea why safari should take an aversion?

  • Where is History.plist Safari in El Capitan

    I can't find history/plist in El Capitan.

I had problem with typing in Safari Google searches when it won't let a space when you try and add a Word to a search or simnply hangs and stop typing you anything at all, so I want to do the following:

Finder > user account > library > Caches. Move it to the trash, the com.apple.Safari file and folder bookmarks in Caches > metadata > Safari folder. Then, same library, go to the Safari folder, moving in the Recycle Bin, the file History.plist . Now restart Safari and try the URL

Also, where is El Capitan account username please?

    1. nowhere else. Yosemite and more recent use History.db instead.

    2. choose homepage in the Finder Go menu or press menu Option opens and then choose library.

  • I moved a folder of bookmarks in Safari on my desk to alphabetize it but could not move again. Now, Time Machine restores not Safari where I started. Restoration is grayed out and the office keeps - not editor of bookmarks. TM works well.

I tried to move a subfolder of my bookmarks folder to alphabetize it moving it on my desk. It worked, but I couldn't get back in Safari. So I tried to restore the Time Machine Safari but it brought back my desktop and the button restore is gray. I am running Yosemite on one end of 2013 27-inch Mac. Time machine seems to work ok on other issues.

You can only restore the entire file of bookmarks to a previous state. It is not possible to restore the individual bookmarks.

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select, then copy it to the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination:

    ~/Library/Safari

    Quit Safari.

    Select

    Go ▹ go to folder

in the Finder menu bar. Paste it into the text box that opens by pressing Command + V, then press return.

Should open a folder window. Restore the file named "Bookmarks.plist" in this folder from a previous backup of the changes unwanted.

If you don't have such a backup, but the Favorites are still present on an iOS (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) device that synchronizes with iCloud, then see below.

Save your iOS devices. Turn off sync iCloud Safari on all devices except those. Quit Safari and delete the bookmarks on the Mac, and then enable synchronization Safari on it. Launch Safari. Bookmarks synchronization of your iOS device.

  • I'm moving to Safari, but

I told myself that my browser (Safari) does not recognize youtube formats. Chrome has no problem. I can't if I can't see the youtube videos. What should I do?

You shouldn't have any problems with Safari on YouTube if OS X is up to date.

Open the App Store, and then select the updates menu.

  • Instant Fusion 3.1.2 autoprotect slows down my Mac Pro to a crawl

Whenever the merger takes a 'snapshot of autoprotect' virtual machine Windows 7 (2 GB of RAM, 2 processors) running Mac OS 10.6.7 on my Mac Pro 2.8 GHz Dual Quad Core (6 GB physical RAM), the Mac user interface slows down to a crawl. Command + Tab through all open applications, launch of new applications, updating the data displayed in the activity monitor all are affected, as it is the interaction of the user with other Mac applications. for example, the navigation in Firefox 3.6.17.

Any suggestions what I could do? Options may include:

    1. Moving to FF 4
    2. Increase the physical RAM in the Mac
    3. Changing the configuration of the virtual machine (less than carrots, less RAM)
    4. Dumping FF altogether as my default browser and back to Safari.
    5. Do my snapshots, autoprotect only in the middle of the night (but that would mean letting the VM running when I have no need for anything either).

Is this a problem well known with the known solutions or workarounds? I tried some forum research but did not come with anything. Thank you very much.

With 2 GB of RAM assigned to the virtual machine, the snapshot creates a 2 GB file that remains in the current state.

Regarding your question on what to do. I would add the option 6. Disable Autoprotect and create a snapshot if necessary and while the virtual machine is turned off. Make sure that you back up the virtual computer on an external drive. AutoProtect is no replacement backup!

  • Default browser in Safari 10.0

Where can I change the default browser in Safari 10.0?

It is not defined in Safari more. Some time ago, it was moved to a much more sensible place.

In system-> general preferences there is a context menu for the default Web browser:

  • Safari 10.0 no minimum font size setting

Just downloaded Safari 10.0 on my Early 2011 Macbook Pro and there is a remarkable lack of functionality: definition of a minimum font size. The setting seems to be replaced by the percentage of zoom of page that is not as useful for me. Anyone know if Apple has just moved this setting or if it is gone for good?

    It seems that he's gone.

You could try a different resolution in system preferences > monitors > display > chipped.

Or system preferences > accessibility > Zoom.

  • I want to add the sites common to the toolbar so I can open them with a single click I can do in Safari

For example, I want access to Google Translate, my e-mail personal, Blackboard, Bank of America, YouTube, etc... and I just click on the toolbar and I opened the page I want. I want to do this in Firefox, but I have not found the way to do it.
Please, look at my attachment to see what it looks like in my Safari browser.

Firefox has a folder in bookmarks called toolbar Bookmrks put bookmarks and they will appear in the bookmarks toolbar. Or if you add a folder or nested you get selections menu drop-down.

There are several methods of adding or moving of bookmarks. They'll drag and drop in the Bookmarks Manager. Or you can click on the star to bookmark and choose or change the location.

See for full explanation with screenshots

Please post to say how you're going.
