safe to delete files remaining sp1?

I have Vista Ultimate 64-bit sp2 running.

I found a directory with a name consisting of 24 hexadecimal characters that contains what looks like .cab for sp1 files in the root directory of the c: drive.

  • / var/log - safe to delete files

    Hi all

On 1 of my hosts ESX file/var/log has grown to the point its me cause problems creating VM etc... look at the files in this folder are large size particularly sercure.1 and secure.2 (more than 200 MB) my question is, is - it safe to delete these files? I have also a lot of vmkernel.* is also safe to empty these files?

    Thank you

The files that you see with le.1,.2,... extensions are newspapers archived resulting from the rotation of log files. Log files are usually shot based on their size, or when a host or VM is powered. You can remove these log files rotated if you want to free up disk space. I do not recommend you delete the files '.log', because they are usually the current criteria (except for virtual machine logs).

However, if the log files have this size, there must be a reason for this. I would recommend that you first take a peek in log files to see if there is an issue that must be resolved before you delete.

  • Safe to delete files...

I just uninstall most of my programs Adobe CS6 because I installed CC versions of them. I noticed in ""C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe " there are a LOT of files for the uninstalled programs still drag." It is safe to delete these because they take on 2gigs of space?

    Hi Syrax12,

The most recommended to uninstall Adobe products is to use the cleaning tool:- http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

The second way to uninstall is by following the instructions in uninstalling upper air & features in Control Panel.

These two steps are the most recommended to uninstall. Incase you want to remove the folders to the location mentioned above, it will be safe to bring them uninstalled or removed by an expert of

Adobe. The expert will be able to guide properly.

  • Is it safe to delete files from C:\Users\[my username] \AppData\Local\Microsoft on Windows 7?

    Hello

I have a 111 GB C with 24GO hard left on that and I'm trying to free up space. I noticed that about 45 GB are stored in my
    C:\Users\[my username] \AppData\Local\Microsoft
but when I open the file it says 920 MB instead. (the "hidden check box is not checked, so I don't know why I'm not able to see all files and folders")
Should what files and folders I delete this file?

Looks like your browser cache is crazy!  In Internet Explorer, click on the gear, then Internet Options.  Under browsing history, click settings and make sure that the cache size is somewhere between 50 and 250 MB.  MO is, not gigabytes!  Then at the bottom of the settings window there is a box to set the no. days for which these pages are kept, set it to something like 20 days (and certainly not a year)!

    Good luck.

  • Safe to delete files after the installation of Master Suite CS6 on Windows 7, 64-bit system?

I installed Master Suite CS6 on a new Windows 7, 64-bit computer system.

The computer has a small SSD that has the operating system (120 GB), and I try to install the rest of my programs and data on disks, standard.

    I just noticed I have a 6 504 448 KB MasterCollection_CS6_LS16.7Z (file Type 7Z) and an Application KB 1031 MasterCollection_CS6_LS16 file under C:/users/Robert/Adobe CS6

Can I remove the 7z 6.5 GB file or to the operation?

What about the smaler one - is to launch applications or was it just to launch installers?

I also have a GBAdobe Master Collection 8.16 CS6 folder on my desktop (which is in fact a regular hard drive 1 TB instead of C :))

Inside this folder are two directories: Fonts (211 MB with many fonts inside) and Adobe CS6 (with subdirectories deploy packet payloads; resources; and the application of editing 2163 KB)

Do I need to save this file, or was it just for the installation of the master Suite?

    Thanks for the help.

Those are downloaded installer files. The file is extracted from version

the files that the system is actually used to install them. You should back up

one or the other but they can all be deleted safely and are not required to

    Launch the software.

  • System restore recover deleted files?

Original title: Windows recovery and office productivity.

Suppose my computer hard drive is partitioned into C:\ and D:\ and sometimes I delete some files (which are not system files) in the drive D:\ (which does not contain the windows), a system restore will recover files?
Second Question: How she chooses a certain specific pages to assign page numbers to in microsoft office word 2010, assuming that I have a 20 page report and I would like to number the pages of a to the last page without the first page on the computer start?

System restore do not know or care about your personal files.

If you accidentally delete a file, and it is not recoverable from the Recycle Bin, there are third party tools that you can watch to see if they can recover your lost files.  In general data from the 'deleted' files remain on the hard drive until the premises they occupy is needed for something else, while the space where your deleted file is crashed.

Keep in mind that you "use" your disk and read/write data, less your chances of file recovery will be since XP can decide to use this area of the disk where the deleted file is.  So, if you delete something by mistake, you should try to recover as soon as POSSIBLE.

Some people have good result with this free tool (you can use Google to find others):

    Recuva

If you want to try it out, install it, make a few temporary files or copy some files somewhere in another folder/location and remove the temporary or copied files on purpose.

Then see if Recuva will get it for you.

If you don't like it, uninstall it.  Sometimes I install just to recovery a file (s), then uninstall it when I'm done.

    1. open the Task Manager by right-clicking on the taskbar and then click on Task Manager.

    2. If you see Nitro pdf reader in Task Manager right click it and click end task.

1 n ° put them on a regular external drive and the value of Time Machine to back up as well; the files you want to keep should be at least two disks in case one of them goes down.

    2. they will not be usable until the restoration.

In C:\Documents&Settings\username\, there is a hidden folder named Local Settings, and to whom a Temp folder with many files. It is safe to delete these files?

Yes.  In fact, if you are using disk cleanup (start > run > cleanmgr.exe > OK) it will delete all files in this directory that have been consulted at least 7 days ago.

You can go directly to this folder by typing the folder in the start menu > run box and click OK.

    Hello Mdquinn,

I would give this a download try CCleaner link: http://download.cnet.com/ccleaner/?tag=mncol   who is known for his ability to clean up your

computer better than Windows 'disk cleanup '. In regards to the registry cleaner in CCleaner, unless you have above skills and knowledge of computers

or the registry, I suggest you do not to use the Registry Cleaner option. If you use it, then always use the backup feature in the steps before you

clean up the registry in case of computer problems later, so you can restore the registry to its previous state. Hope this helps you. Let us know anyway.

    Make it a great day!
