Safe to delete all downloaded programs files?

T saves disk space, I want to delete files progam downloaded all.  Is it safe to delete these files?

Hello Mdquinn,

I would give this a download try CCleaner link: http://download.cnet.com/ccleaner/?tag=mncol   who is known for his ability to clean up your

computer better than Windows 'disk cleanup '. In regards to the registry cleaner in CCleaner, unless you have above skills and knowledge of computers

or the registry, I suggest you do not to use the Registry Cleaner option. If you use it, then always use the backup feature in the steps before you

clean up the registry in case of computer problems later, so you can restore the registry to its previous state. Hope this helps you. Let us know anyway.

Make it a great day!

  • Temporary Internet of objects/Downloaded Program Files

The temporary Internet items/Downloaded Program files: delete Internet Temp files/cookies but never the objects/program Temp files regularly. The reason is that the "last date of access: ' is still showing the day I visit the. I was under the impression that they were originally uploaded to the Temp file before be downloaded on a disk, IE C. If so, can they be removed? I didn't want to do it if it meant it would interfere with the operation on the day the day of my PC/access some programs. Program files consist of programs such as JavaRuntimeEnvironment, ParallelGraphics Cortona, MessengerStatsClient, ShockwaveActiveX and others. Most say "installed" and a date of creation, but some say "damaged". My apologies if this question is fundamental, but appreciate any thoughts on this issue. Thank you - Keith-Shenstone

    Hi Keith,

    · What you are referring when you say "but some say"damaged "?

    · Where exactly do you see that?

Downloaded program files are ActiveX controls and Java programs that are automatically downloaded from the Internet when you view certain pages. These files are temporarily stored in the Downloaded Program Files folder on the hard disk.

The "Downloaded program files" folder contains a feature that allows you to easily uninstall ActiveX controls. When this folder is deleted, a new "Downloaded Program Files" folder is created the next time Internet Explorer to download new program files. However, the newly created folder does not contain the functionality to easily uninstall ActiveX controls.

The controls that have been deleted by the original folder are listed with the damaged state. These controls must be removed because the associated files have already been deleted.

You can use built in Disk Cleanup tool in windows that allows you to delete unnecessary files from your hard drive.

    Two points:

    1. If you want to delete some installed programs, do not make
deletion of the folder they are in. That doesn't remove them only partially and
can cause problems. Remove programs by in control
    Configuration/program Panel and features.

    2. a drive of 74 GB is a tiny disk these days. There are a number of
things you can do to save space, but they are all basically
temporary and you will soon find yourself in the same situation.
The only real solution is to buy and install a larger capacity drive.

You can move all your documents without problem, but not your
installed programs. This is because there are a lot of references, in the
Registry and elsewhere in \Windows, where programs are.

There are a few third party programs that can get to those
references and supposedly change them for you, but my experience
try these programs is that none of them are perfect and use one of
them is likely to create problems with some programs.

Therefore, it is best to reinstall programs.

  • Is it safe to delete all files from "C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp' __evry time I do and then try to use MS Office it asks me the install files. I'm reinstalling MS Office 2007 in its original DVD.

I deleted all files in the TEMP folder. So when I try to open any MS Office 2007 program, it has me reinstall the suite complete from the original DVD, because the msi file is not the correct version. Is this normal?

No problem as an administrator. Seems that the problem has nothing to do with the TEMP folder.

  • I - delta.vmdk files, non - .vmsn files. It is safe to delete all the snapshots in snapshot Manager?

    Hello

Our VM froze because our ESXi data store is full. I deleted - .vmsn for the 1st file snapshot via CLI (using the "rm" command).

VM is on thick disk and have 2 snapshots. so I still - flat.vmdk, - delta.vmdk. (for the two snapshots) and - .vmsn (only for the 2nd snapshot).

wouldn't be all right if I delete all the snapshots in snapshot Manager? ATM, we don't have that 8 GB on the data store, and snapshot size is approximately 67GB

    Thank you

    Dan

The lack of . VMSN file shouldn't cause problems because it is necessary in case you want to or need to go back to a snapshot. In all cases, with only 8 GB of free space on the disk, you can consider deleting the snapshot with the virtual machine being turned off. This avoids the need for disk space temporary additional database snapshots while / delta are merged into the base/flat disc.

  • Files corrupted in "Downloaded Program Files".

I have a list of files downloaded programs that do not match any IE Add - ons, but at least some of them are related to activex controls and java prevents me to use either in a browser - can I still use the download from Microsoft Technet at this stage because of this problem.  I thought if I could possibly get rid of these damaged versions, I could get new ones and be done with it. However, I can't do even that much in Vista, given that my only option is 'Properties' and not delete.  I tried to delete the registry keys autocorrelation for who is appointed as such, but they are still there.  I hope someone can help me solve this problem, I don't really have a restore to go back to that point.
