Safely remove the Office libraries folder?

Under desktop icon settings are the boxes to check or uncheck for:
Computer
The user files
Network
Recycle Bin
Control Panel

I only checked trash and it's the only other file system that appears on my desktop.

Libraries is not among the files listed there.

Right click on the folder libraries says it is a system folder and offers the DELETE option.

Many other "system folders" are located in the folder called Desktop but are not actually on the desktop.

How can I remove this from the desktop?

I appreciate your reply Bruce, but I am reluntant to power a difficulty of recording or to do something that I don't understand well or not am not sure I can cancel.

What baffles me, is that I have a desktop pc with Windows 7 and libraries (icon) file does not appear on the desktop it. I remember never delete or do something with it.

I used this fix file zip for the library icon and one for group House icon. Very painless. I do not have a home group, and I have an icon in my taskbar to access my user folder which is the folder root for libraries, so I see no reason, that I never needed on the office.

I bought this computer from office in November 2009 and had the icon on the desktop. I bought a laptop six months ago, and the icon wasn't there. Obviously some change by the developers. Make sure your fully connected to Windows updates.

    Hi templar_39,

DM (Message Delivery) file types are not Windows files, they can be generated by a third-party program.

This particular file type is often associated with audio data and can be hosted on some cell phones to be used as ringtones or multimedia clips. To my knowledge, these files can be generated by your mobile phone.

Note: you can go ahead and remove these files only if you notice that the files do not contain any important information.

If this happens without connect you all devices (like mobile PHONES), this may be a virus or malware activity. You can run a virus scan to get rid of them

Step 1: A scanner online for any threat and try to correct

  • Can I safely remove the Windows.old files?

What's up guys?, I have a Compaq Presario supplied with the Windows Vista operating system, 32-bit. I backed up all my drivers on DVD and I downloaded a clean copy of Vista using an ISO on a DVD burner. I reinstalled the new copy put in my original product key, and he agreed. I reinstalled my drivers and all seems to work fine. I transferred all my data, mp3, jpeg, etc. for Flash readers and/or new programs on the new OS. The reason for the new OS was a virus infection which partially damaged the registry.  I really want to keep these files in the system for obvious reasons. Can I safely delete the files "Windows.old" and what would be the best way to do it?

  • Hello... can I remove the windows.old folder?

IM installing my windows 8 from the installation of costum (im not not formatting my hard drives).
some of the software I used was installed there. but since unneed software is much more software I've used, I want to
to remove this file... it is therefore normal to remove this folder? If so, how?

    Hello

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community Forums.

No need to worry, we're here to help you and guide you in the right direction.

The windows.old folder is the old system files. Be sure to copy all the files that you can out of the Windows.old folder before you delete it. Once deleted, they are gone. You must be logged in as an administrator to be able to do the steps.

The Windows.old folder contains the following folders:

    • Windows
    • "Documents and Settings".
    • "Program Files."

The Windows folder stores mainly programs and files that are required to run the previous version of Windows.

The "Documents and Settings" folder stores mainly the 'My Documents' folder and the Favorites folder. In addition, the "Documents and Settings" folder stores the office files that have been used by the previous version of Windows.

The "Program Files" folder stores mainly programs have been installed on the earlier version of Windows.

There are two ways to delete the windows.old folder. Here is the simple step.

Method 1: Delete the C drive.

    (a) open Windows Explorer, click computer.

    (b) select C drive and you will find the Windows.old folder.

    (c) make a right click on the folder and click Remove.

Method 2: Remove the "Windows.old" folder using disk cleanup

    (a) open Disk Cleanup by clicking on the button Windows + C to open the bar of charms. Click on the charm of the Search .

    (b) type cleanmgr in Search Applications box in the right pane, and then click cleanmgr.exe (disk cleanup) in the left pane to open it.

    (c) If you are prompted to choose a drive, click the drive that you have just installed Windows on and then click OK.

    (d) in the Disk Cleanup dialog box, on the Disk Cleanup tab, click clean up system files.

    (e) If you are again prompted to choose a drive, click the drive that you have just installed Windows on and then click OK.

    (f) select the Previous Windows installations check box and the other check boxes for files that you want to remove, and then click OK.

    (g) in the message that appears, click delete files.

Let us know the status of the issue. If you need help, I'll be more than happy to help you.

  • Satellite L750-A218 - how easily / safely remove the MMC card

    Hello

I just tried the MMS and inserted a MMC console.
I have a question now. After eject devices.

How to remove it properly. I tried pushing gently so that it would make the ticking and make out but that has not worked. I didn't force and ruin the slot. I can get out, but I have to raise the laptop.
On the user manual. Those are the steps for removal:

    1. open the icon remove the device safely and eject media on the Windows taskbar.
    2. tap media memory and click on the left Touch Pad button.
    3. Enter the media up and out of the computer to remove it.

I have not quite step 2. Please explain to me how easily / safely remove the MMC on this laptop.
Also, tell me if pushing the MMC will be out or not.

    Hello

What card insert you? MMC (MultiMediaCard)?
Usually you will need to enter the card and pull it out of the computer s slot to remove the media but when you insert the support of memory in the wrong direction, you will not be able to remove

    > I have not quite step 2. Please explain to me how easily / safely remove the MMC on this laptop.
In most cases the task bar contains a small icon showing that the media card is inserted...
We must therefore stop this read/write process before removing the card...

Unfortunately there is no such feature which keeps track of the information of deleted files. However, you can check the trash on the network to see if the deleted file's still in there.

  • How can I remove the old Windows folder to a different drive?

Original title: Old files Windows, Program Files, etc.

I tried to use before Disk Cleanup and it worked, and I haven't run a complete installation.

I'm having a problem now, this time, and I did a full install.  Disk Cleanup doesn't show any options to remove an old Windows as it did before.

How can I remove the old Windows folder to a different drive?  I also try to remove the Program Files folder, as well as with an implementation since.

It is showing an error message "I need to be in the Administrators group ~", and that TrustedInstaller is owner of the present.

I have a question that "TrustedInstaller" has full authority on the file system, and 'Administrators' has limited access.

I noticed that there are other three to make a total of four names of users who have all or nearly full access to the file system.

Can it be fixed... it's pretty annoying to see this continue..., strictly through Windows Update.

I look forward to your reply.

  • Restore the Office Public folder

I have a problem in a laboratory on the Dell Optiplex 745 computers. In this workshop, there are 29 computers initially running Vista SP2. I cloned all 29 computers to Windows 7 Professional SP1. After I cloned these computers, I found 15 of them, the Public Desktop folder is missing. All other public folders (Documents, music, photos, etc.) are visible. What happens to all the accounts of profiles (Admin, teacher, student). It doesn't matter who is connected to one of the 15 computers. This isn't a unique profile corruption problem.

I have show hidden files, folders, disks and I have disabled the 3... hide boxes. It is not restore the Office Public folder.

I tried the file REG RESTORE. Nothing.

I've tried searching Office Public folder. Nothing.

    I restarted the computer.

I play ALL of these tests under an administrator account. Since the student on these 15 computers files, I can not re - clone these computers or can I do a repair on these computers. I don't want to take the risk of data loss. There must be way to restore the Office Public folder WITHOUT cloning or the repair of these computers.

I tried to log on as LOCAL ADMINISTRATOR to resolve the problem to one of these computers. Also, I tried the administrator account to correct the problem.  Two of these accounts does not solve the problem

I need to restore the original DEFAULT Office Public folder in C:\USERS\PUBLIC. Create a new folder and call it Office Public do not solve the problem. How do I know this, I tried to put a file in this new folder of the Public Office and did not appear on my desktop. That's how I know that simply create a single file does not work.

I upgraded my computer to Windows 7 to Windows 8, a few months ago, when Windows 8 came. It is my understanding that when you perform an upgrade of Windows from one version to the other, it can save a lot of files and folders under the folder Windows.old. And I understand that you can delete the Windows.old folder.

In other words, I don't think.

My computer (drive C) is a 9 GB of satiety, and I need to reclaim space for data.  Can I safely delete the files in the folder of reconstituted under my documents document library?

If not, how can I recover more disk space?

    Hello

You must understand a basic first concept.

Libraries in Windows 7 do not contain the physical files. They show only a virtual display of the physical files that are contained in other physical files that have been added to the library.

    Example:

By default, the Document library displays the files that are contained in the C:\Users\your utilisateur\Mes Documents folder and the folder C:\Users\Public\Public Documents .

If you simply right click and delete the Document library, it will not add any free space on the C: drive.

To add free space on the C: drive, you need to remove the C:\Users\your utilisateur\Mes Documents to the folder that contains the actual files.

Before you do, make sure that you have backed up the files you do not want to lose.

The best way to add free space on the C: drive, would be to move the Documents and other user folders to another drive internal or external.

See the Second Option in the following tutorial.
