  I'm looking in the configuration of SNMP on our ESX for Solarwinds alert guests, and is the last step I have to restart the service mgmt-vmware.

  I looked around online and have been unable to find confirmation that it will not have all the time with the virtual machines running on those hosts, as production machines.

  This is your on your VCDB (Virtual Center Database).  Talk to your DBA and let him look at the logs of transactions for the DB instance in question.

  The Manager of EgualLogic we have IP 192.168.1.5 (it is an iSCSI network address):

  In the user interface, select the Member-> network.  Check the latest interface.   It should show to the management.  The verbage depends on the firmware version and table model

  I'm unable to start the Server service of vco on Windows 2008 R2 machine. If I try to restart the service it displays the following error;

  "Service server vmware vcenter orchestrator on local computer started and then stopped. "Some services stop automatically when not in use by other services or programs.

  Can someone give me the solution for this?

  First check the configuration of the vCO application and that all green lights. If this isn't the case difficulty what the problem is.

  If everything is green, see the server.log file and look for FATAL / ERROR.

• Information on the Health Service OSB tab

  Hi all

  I was supposed to do some monitoring and tests on OSB performance services. During this process, I allowed surveillance on the required services and managed to find the respective parameters in the Health Service of the OSB Console tab.

  Here is my question/request,

  • Where the OSB stores this information which is displayed on the console. Could you please let me know if any of you know the name of the Table
  • If this isn't a picture, could you please let me know is there a way to access this information in a different way

  You can access statistics using the JMX API. By using JMX framework you can draw information.

• Impossible to restart the service mgmt-vmware

  Hi all

  Noob here and I am strugling just restart this service.

  Basically I can't connect to a stand-alone ESXi 4 host via vSphere. I get an error message; vSphere Client cannot connect to... a unknown connection error has occurred.

  I've read here to SSH inside and resart service mgmt-vmware.

  But when I Putty as root and try to run the following; service mgmt-vmware restart

  I get this; Service: not found.

  Need help please, what am I doing wrong?

• 'service mgmt-vmware restart' in an installation script.

  like many propably you do, I do 'service mgmt-vmware restart' in a script installation.

  I need this because I want to use vmware-vim-cmd ommands.

  When the mgmt-vmware restart 'service' is executed, the complete installation stops and is right there.

  When I do a "service mgmt-vmware restart' manully of a session SSH, no problems.

  When I do a "service mgmt-vmware restart' to a console session (HP Iloé) the problem becomes clearer.

  During the restart, the screen moves the "to open a session to the ESX Server...". Press ALT - F1 etc."- screen

  When I press ALT - F1 I re - enter my session again and see the result of the command "service mgmt-vmware restart '.

  But clearly it's killing my script because it cannot continue.

  Someone at - it ideas?

  BTW: ESX 3.5 U3

  Other users I know orders vmkernel put in a file to run at startup and not during the kickstart himself.  Put all your commands in a script and have /etc/rc.local run at startup and then remove the rc.local.

  I intend to use the following configuration (not yet deployed) and would appreciate your comments and input:

  2 physical host servers running VMware ESXi

  1 SAN Fiber Channel

  high availability and vMotion

  I just have a few questions:

  (1) then I keep all the VHD on the SAN files?  (I intend to have VHD files separate OS disk and DATA drive for each virtual computer).

  (2) is it recommended that I have all the hard drives the on host computers physical (to run virtual machines or anything else like swap files)?

  (3) how much space I have on the SAN?  I guess too much for the readers of the OS and DATA readers of all virtual machines... it's any additional space recommended for anything?

  (4) everyone would be able to direct me towards guides describing how to set up?

  Yes you can, and just a tip, on VMware world the virtual disk is called VMDK :-)

  You can use the same physical host computers without the hard drive, because you can boot from SAN, or use features such as automatic deployment, but it is the facility for the virtual machine, my recommendation is to use disks (volumes) of your San and share this volumes between your hosts to be able to configure High Availability (HA). Without shared storage, you can not HA.

  (3) how much space I have on the SAN?  I guess too much for the readers of the OS and DATA readers of all virtual machines... it's any additional space recommended for anything?

  Space on SAN depends on the size of your virtual machines and little extra space to make room for Exchange and snapshot files.

  (4) everyone would be able to direct me towards guides describing how to set up?

• Correct implementation of san iSCSI initiator swiSCSI vmware

  Just look to see if I missed anything regarding my planned layout.

  I have a Solaris 10 export server target group NIC-supported ZFS. If I understand correctly, the initiator of sw vmware does not support multipathing so I would be better served by using groups of portals target to assign the LUN to different groups of network cards to resources shared (at least fault tolerance) on the san and esx server and spread manually the IO?

  Is there a better way?

  LACP / LAG (foundry) / EtherChannel (cisco) / trunk (hp), any other name for the same thing.  It allows you to spread the load over several interfaces.  To use it, you must have several combinations of src - dst ip and connect to the same physical switch of multipile interfaces.  Separate switches, does mean no etherchannel.  You want switches for redundancy.  So, in this case, to get the best of both worlds, would need you 4 interfaces (2 per switch), or you need a together stackable switches (which makes the battery well enough in a virtual switch).  If you do not connect to a single switch with several interfaces, and establish a channel between them, then you need to use ip src - dst hash on the side pSwitch for load balancing and ip of the hash on the side of vSwitch. Otherwise, you will not use two network cards.  Now, if you have the pSwitch, the vSwitch and balancing of configured policy, you must have several IP src - dst to effectively use this load balancing policy.  So, you can use an interface vmkernel, in a channel of the ether, with multiple targets and who will use two network cards.  Or, you can have several vmkernel interfaces and spread your LUNS on them.  This can be done without the ether channel and with everything just a NETWORK card active for a vmkernel interface and the other NETWORK card active for the 2nd vmkernel, with each standby interface for another interface vmkernel NIC.  It's a simpler configuration.  Crossover is fine, but it limits how you talk and who speak to you.  Not much redundancy won here, but you decrease the chances of latency due to network devices.

• Move existing partitions of SAN to a virtual machine

  We are moving all systems an ESXi environment.  We currently have many servers have a partition, bare bones system with multiple partitions of data from our SAN.  What is the best way to convert these systems?  Is there a way to map the existing partition of data directly to the virtual machine, or it must go through the converter?

  Hello and welcome to the forums.

  You could use the VMware Converter and just put on the partitions you want to (exclude the data partitions).  You could then reconnected to the later San with RDM.

  How big are the partitions that you speak?  What are you trying to accomplish in the end?

• Connection to the disk Service virtual stalls

  Installed a second internal hard drive of my computer and when I go to disk management to format that nothing appears.  Not even my C: drive or my external hard drive. He just repeat "connect to a Service of virtual disk...". ». If someone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

  (a) how you installed the HDD internal?
  (b) who is the manufacturer of your computer?

  Please check if the drive appears in Device Manager.
  To do this, follow these steps:
  1. type devmgmt.msc in the start search box and press on enter.
  2. to check device manager if the drive is in the list.

  Let's try this steps and check if it works.

  i. Click Start-> type Services.msc in the search bar and press ENTER.
  II. find the virtual disk Service and make commissioning manual type. Click the Recovery tab, and make sure
  Second failure > no action
  Finally, the failure > taking no action.

• Nexus 1010 Services Virtual Appliance and VN-link hardware

  We deploy the Nexus 1010 Virtual Appliance service in order to use the analysis network (NAM) Module.  The 1010 necessary hosted of the MSM to deploy the 1000v switch into ESX.  We would also use VN-Link in the material by which we "get around" the virtual switch and use the 6120's for switching.  What I need to know, it's possible the 1010 always to analyze network traffic using hardware VN-link?  Hardware VN-link does not seem to need a VSM, so I think that the 1010 cannot monitor traffic because there is no "attach" to 1000v.  Anyone can shed some light on this?

  The NAM module present in the 1010 is not exclusive for Nexus1000v traffic.

  Its there as part of a device which is be the VSM (1000v) and is set on its own.

  If you look at the Nexus1000v, the VSM (which is the 1010 and holds the NAM in this case) is * not * part of the VM data path.

  He's wanted for initial virtual port instantiations (veth) but after that the traffic does not go through it.

  So to send data traffic VM to the NAM module for analysis, another mechanism (such as ERSPAN) is used to route the data traffic of the VM is to her.

  The Nexus 1000v support ERSPAN.

  Same logic applies you have a NAM module-the 1000v can send traffic to it through ERSPAN.

  Looking to VN-link in hardware - there a MSM which is the INSTITUTION itself.

  In this case, the veth is on FI.

  If the FI did support ERSPAN (which is not currently), you can use the same NAM module or any other module of NAM for sending traffic to it.

  If this isn't a limitation of VN-link in hw methodology vs 1000v switching switching, but the fact that the FI does not yet support a mechanism of 'export '.

  If you purchased Windows 8.1 or Windows 8, you can download and install Windows from this page using only your product key. You will have the option to install Windows now, later, or using media with an ISO file.

  Go to the Microsoft page for upgrading to Windows 8 with a product key, then click on the button 'install Windows 8' light blue.

  Once ISO finished download, the installation program will take several minutes to check download and unzip the installation files. When you are prompted to choose an installation option, choose "install by creating media".
