  It is a common misunderstanding when you start working in Ae. It takes time to get used to, and even veterans are still this error from time to time. Here's the thing, you have to get in your head: your project Panel is where your source material is, and the timeline is the place where there is a representation of this source. This means that if you duplicate an item in your timeline (particularly relevant for the precomps) it will duplicate a copy, not the source. so, if change you it - it will change all instances of this copy. If you want to duplicate a precomp and create another source, you will need to do it in a 4 step operation:

  1. duplicate your precomp in the timeline (you got that day)
  2. Select the source of this copy in the project Panel (currently the same precomp)-right click on the-> precomp 'reveal the source layer project.
  3. duplicate the precomp selected in the project Panel
  4. replace the copy in your panel mounting with the duplicate of the Source Panel (shortcut - Ctrl + alt + / when both are selected, or drag it to double with pressing Alt)

  what you are really duplicate the precomp twice - once in the project window and once in the timeline, and then one link to the other.

  I tried to embed a video in my menu, but despite many tutorials, I am always sick. Here's my menu created. I've created so that I can play a video within the large white area, covering the lower left corner of the menu. I would like the video to play under the picture on it AND have the 'play' button at the same time, but it seems that cutting diagonally makes things difficult. Any help please?

  

  I get another menu preset of still - one with a video resource already attached. When I saw that, the menu was visible, but did not play the video which has been attached to it either. Perhaps, the preview does not play everything in the menu? Or am I missing something?

  You made the menu for this one?  This should work, so try to address this issue.

  Ok. As far as the Avenue of Photoshop goes, when I change the menu in Photoshop the background video layer is visible with all layers.

  The lower layer, one named "background", are not technically a video layer, it should be the 'yet' to the background of the menu.  When tied in again and rendered, again should play this video rather than the background again.  I guess that's what you see in PS.

  With the main layer (which is the layer of the image at the top), I must reduce its opacity to see the video layer.

  If it's the graphic that is in the upper part of the screen of the diagonal, right?  Do you mean that you do not see the background layer at the bottom of the screen of the diagonal unless you decrease the opacity of the layer "main"?  If so, this is the 'full frame' layer that is blocking you.  If you say that the top blocking the upper part of the background, it's what you want, right?

  That makes no sense at all.  If the background is blocked by the layer of 'main', then white then as well.

  The strange thing is, it only happens for a show, "Star Trek: The Next Generation" at 07:00 on channel 55 Houston.  Sometimes it is live or recorded.  Shown immediately before and immediately after about 55 works fine, as does anything on any other channel. (Although if I leave the video error for more than a few seconds, then I get an error of the tuner on the other channels until I quit Media Center and bring backup.)

  Maybe my computer is a militant fan of Star Wars?

  I just got my new sansa e260 and after it loads for a day and a half, it not light. I tried to hold the power button for a long time, but it would not turn. When connected to a pc, it says 'connected' and shows that the battery is charging. I can browse files, etc. However, if I unplug the PC, it goes dead.

  I tried to update the firmware, but it fails. I changed the settings of the MTP to MSC USB device with no luck!

  Any idea what's going on? All the solutions out there for this issue?

• Sansa Clip 2 GB shows "Connected" when the charger is plugged

  I have a Sansa Clip 2 GB is around the age of 6 months.  He played very well for 5 months, but for the last month, he periodically left the game and shows 'Connected' when the charger is connected.  I can sometimes turn off and on and it will start working again.  He will play for awhile, sometimes minutes, sometimes a few days and then stop playing again and see the "connected".  When he is in this state it will load but not play.  I tried 3 different Chargers and all have the same problem later.  I updated the firmware of 01.01.32 but no help.

  Someone knows how to fix this?  TIA for any help.

  OK, here is the last, this problem is resolved, but he caused a new sorta related problem.  What I did I deleted all my files and just put all the songs in the Music"" folder.  This seems to have solved the problem where it says 'connected' and stop playing, however, now it plays a day or two and then stops himself.  I just press 'Play' and he starts going again, so it is not much more than an annoyance I can live with that, and I could see where maybe he could do so on purpose after she played all the songs, but why it not it that way when I got it?  He played continuously day and night for months as a first step.  I'm confused, but I can at least live with the Clip now.
