Sat Pro 2470 memory and BIOS update

I recently received from Win XP SP 2 installed on the laptop and the free memory is very low (64 internal, additional 64 installed)

I would like to add 2 x 128 MB to 320 MB total authorized under the current BIOS.

After doing this, the manual says in Chapter 8 on page 7 that some files must be removed by following these steps:

Click Start, and then turns off
Brand to start the computer in MS-DOS klik OK

Write to CD\Windows - renterb]
Write the output - enter

With XP, I can't find the option to choose start in DOS at the next startup. Is this also necessary when I add memory?

Question: why should the battery be taken out when changing the memory? Isn't out enough power?

WE BIOS: I can't find any information on what brings the BIOSupgrade available for this laptop. If I update the BIOS, which is the maximum size RAM and HARD drive? All the other important points?

Concerning

Jonas L/Brussels

Hello

I don't think that you should remove all files with Windows XP.
Simply insert the modules of memory and power on the machine.
Updated the BIOS normally does not increase the available memory.

Good bye

  • Satellite Pro P200-15W: after Bios Update 1.90 incredibly noisy fan

Hi, I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro P200-15W, I recently made an update to BIOS version 1.9 and seems to have been a big mistake.
After restarting the computer, I had a lot of software deconfig and the fan has become incredibly noisy.

I have the problem with the Toshiba Vista registration software, I get this message: "registration of Vista has stopped working". I read other discussions, I don't want to just disable it in the start.ini file, I would actually solve the problem if there is a way.

Is there a way to change the configuration of fans? I read a post from Toshiba on another model of laptop that has had the same problem of noisy fans after an update of the BIOS, they gave that a solution with a new version of the BIOS, is there a way to reverse the BIOS to the previous version? (recovery CD will be useful for this purpose)?

    See you soon

    Edgard

    Hello

It seems that the picture of the fan was changed and renewed in the new version of BIOS, and so fans run fall.
Why the table fan has been changed?

Well, usually something like this is necessary to improve the reduction of the internal temperature while the CPU and GPU are running with maximum performance.
This helps to prevent the equipment from damage!

Usually, the recovery CD formats the whole HARD drive (partitions too) and installs only the image of Toshiba on the notebooks of HARD drive.
The image contains the OS, drivers and additional software and has nothing to do with the BIOS update.
But you can try to recover the laptop to see if you can solve the problems of software as "Vista record"!

If you want to reverse the BIOS, you will need to contact the ASP in your country!

Sorry, but all I can suggest.

    Best regards

  • Yoga 2 Pro Black Screen after Bios Update

Only, I have formatted my yoga 2 pro, downloaded the drivers and ran the update of the Bios. I followed the instructions on playing ran me the .exe, one click on next/ok until you restart the laptop and if I'm not mistaken a menu red with a progress bar appeared. At this time, I left and when I came back a few minutes later, the laptop is on, the lighting of the screen was on but the screen was black, the backlight of the keyboard was also turned on and everything else was off. Lights on/near the switch indicating if there turned on and connected to the AC are off.

It was like that for more than 30 minutes now, no sign of progress. This happened to someone else before? I'm not very keen on must turn off or unplug the laptop while flashing the BIOS, but at this point there is not much else I can do.

I found the answer to my problem to

There are updates of bios for my laptop, and so I thought I would try a flash update. I can only find the Trad version and not the flash version of Win.
the problem is that the traditional flash update file asks you to create a bootable cd for the update procedure. Software CD, Toshiba in their wisdom have provided a cutting of the version of "save now". Guess what this special version of toshiba cannot create a bootable cd you have to spend £25 for the full version.
Someone knows, there is a version of the flash upgrade Win

    Hello Andy

As far as I know just BIOS updates listed on the download from Toshiba site are available. I guess that your unit is a relatively new. If you have any problems with this device do not do any BIOS update. Only if there is a problem the update of the BIOS by using external devices or something like that is recommended.

  • Compaq dc7800: DC7800 CPu id and BIOS update probem

    Hello

My first post here, I hope you get what I'm trying to say.

Well, I have this old compaq dc7800 sff and I managed to level it's OS to Windows 10.

And now, I would like to update its bios and CPU id, but I can't run those exe, I downloaded on the cd7800 support site.

I know that these bios update programs and so forth are not published for Windows 10, but I thought that windows7 versions would work.

    But they did not.

For some reason, I got the the messege that "software publisher has refused to run this program on this computer.

    While this mean?

I can't run these programs even with administrator privileges, I get the same messages?

Because of Windows 10? Or what?

The reason why I came across this problem was that I tried to update the CPU of the Q6600 to Q9550 and I got the error of CPU - ID firmware.

    Hello:

It is very easy to update the BIOS on a dc7800 without being under Windows.

In the menu of the BIOS on the file tab, there is a rom flash system command.

All you have to do is put the BIOS files on a USB stick formatted with the FAT32 file system.

Rather than go though all the steps to get the BIOS files, I've zipped or less than joint under attachments.

Unzip them and copy the content of the file of the folder (not the folder), for your USB flash drive.

Plug the flash drive into your PC and restart it, tap the F10 key to access the bios, select the file menu and on this list will be a rom flash system command.

What to choose, and the PC will 'see' the files on the flash drive.  Follow the instructions on the screen to Flash the BIOS.

I have attached files to the latest revision of the BIOS (1.32 Rev. A (6 Dec 2011)).

If you still get the microcode error after updated the BIOS with the latest version, let me know, because then update the firmware, and it is a much more complex process.

    Hai guys

I have a toshiba laptop psl48l-0200u and lowered the score on XP Professional, but realtek audio does not work.
At the launch of the facility, there is an error message "realtek audio installation failed.

I think that this may have to do something with bios - then I downloaded Bios for XP and extracted into a folder - but the update of the bios.

    Help, please
    Thank you

What to first say if you installed XP on your laptop, then you should also update the BIOS to the version of Win XP.
The BIOS update must be performed on Windows XP!
Simply run the exe file and follow the instructions on the screen.

    Regarding the sound issue.
Well this problem is not related to the BIOS, but you have not installed the XP patches!

Have you checked this forum for a similar question? I don t think so.
    I found this example:

  • CPU and BIOS update problem

I have a M57P 6395 33 M system and some time ago I added an E8500 CPU, I thought it would work even if Lenovo not listed the E8200, E8400. I was a little disappointed and I still wonder WHY lenovo gets SO specific with CPU connection. I don't see why she accepts only 2 CPUs and no other?

Well, I bit the bullet and found an E8400 to put in the machine. I added CPU, removed the MB battery and left out for a while then went back on the new shoe, set all the necessary info. The first part of the BIOS screen mentions that there lies an E8400 (as he did for the E8500) but when it goes through the boot process it is said AGAIN that the CPU code is not enough to recognize the E8400. I am now confused.

When I updated the BIOS, I used the that I've been led to believe was the GOOD .54KT23AUS (through the windows), but I still get the error 0167. It would be better for me to put the back E8200, re run the BIOS update using a CD?

and there is another update of BIOS listed for the M57P 2RKT64A, I wonder if it would be better? It is not for use on 6395 but, the FIRST thing listed for THIS update is an update of firmware of CPU.

I know that this means not much to all the world and I hear people say 'why bother? ' but I would use the machine as I'm n ot offer a more recent machine as I am a pensioner.

    A little help please.

Thanks a lot for the quick response. I tried Flash via the CD with the E8400 in and it would not allow me to do when he came up with the error of CPU to half way through. I have since updated the E8200 back and did the BIOS update through the CD. The machine seems to have taken the update of the better BIOS this time but, the E8400 still does not work

As for the E8400 CPU, I have an Intel CPU program on the computer and deepening classified by it for the E8400 says it's A07? However, I can't find any info on it. I guess I either will set up with hitting the F2 key when I start with the E8400 inside or just keep the E8200.

I finnd the info on these rather confusing processors. The Intel CPU app I have gives me different information from a site like CPU world. The TDP of the processors are 65W but the ONLY thing I see different is the deepening of the base. The E8200 is listed as C0, while the E8400/8500 are E0. Why who would have much effect on the use of the more major? You would have thought that Lenovo engineers could make the system accepts the E0 revision or what is Lenovo wants to sell a new machine?

Like I said, it's a shame that Lenovo is so affected by these machines with tunnel vision. Well

  • Satellite U300 maximum PSU30E of expandable RAM and Bios Update

What is the maximum expandable ram for the U300? The last update of the bios will allow two sticks of 4 GB of ram for a total of 8 GB?

Only, I ask this because there is no history of clear version with the Bios Toshiba updates.

I appreciate all the advice, thanks in advance.

    Hi Bob

I'll try to help. Let's go:
    > What is the maximum expandable ram for the U300?
Satellite U300 with model number PSU30E-xxxxxx can handle with 4 GB RAM max.
    > The last update of the bios will allow two sticks of 4 GB of ram for a total of 8 GB?
N ° BIOS update has nothing to do with it. There is limitation chipset.
