  • Corrupt system tray icons

My system tray icons have disappeared - apparently after an uninstall of Norton Internet Security (itcould be independent - but a lot of things went wrong at the same time!)

I tried fiddling with the options of customization of system tray - hide / show etc - but this has no effect. In addition, in this menu, all icons are false. for example, the volume control - normally a photo of a mini speaker - is now just a folder icon in windows (like most of them) while others have bad program icon.

    Any ideas?

I presume that you have uninstalled Norton via the Control Panel / Add or remove programs.  If you haven't already done so, you must also download and run the Norton removal tool.  For more information, see

  • Parameters of system tray icons keep the reset after reboot

    Hello

My system tray icon settings are lost whenever I restart my laptop.

I tried to reset all settings, I tried to install the experimental fix Windows6. 1 KB979155-x 64.msu nothing works.

I also tried the following registry settings that now I have no more than two keys mentioned and I do not know if they had to be re-created after I cancelled them.

    1. Click Start , type regedit in the Search box and press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click allow .

    2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
      Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify HKEY_CURRENT_USER
    3. In the Details pane, click the IconStreams registry entry.
    4. On the Edit menu, click delete , and then click Yes .
    5. In the Details pane, click the PastIconsStream registry entry.
    6. On the Edit menu, click delete , and then click Yes .
    7. Exit Registry Editor.
    8. Restart the Explorer.exe process. To do this, follow these steps:
      1. Press CTRL + SHIFT + ESC.
      2. On the process in the Task Manager tab, click the process explorer.exe and then double click on end process .
      3. On the file menu, click new task (run) , type Explorer and click OK .
      4. Exit Task Manager.

The only option is either to have all the icons in the sawn system tray which takes 3\4 of my task bar or do them all hidden which is a pain in the neck because I have to open the "new taskbar" every time.

I hope someone can help me.

    Thank you :D

  • VMware workstation tray icon starts the Notepad?

Whenever VMware Workstation 11 runs in the background and I double click on the icon my computer - Notepad opens instead of VWware workstation on the host.  The same thing happens if I right click and select "Open VMware Workstation.  This was happening before you install version 11.  I was hoping that the new version/installation might solve the problem.

Since the installation of version 11 - I tried to uninstall and reinstall the application.  I also tried to uninstall, run the application to install with the option "/ clean" and then reinstalling with reboot between each.  I also tried the suite "The clean after an incomplete installation on a Windows Welcome guide" all with the same effect.

Any ideas?  Other then not being able to open VMware Workstation via the everything tray icon works great.

  • Satellite A300 DVD tray will not open and cause high CPU utilization peaks

    Hello

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite A300 - 1 MM and I have a problem with the optical drive (Mat * un DVD Ram Uj880as):

DVD - RAM plateau sometimes refuse to open. The LED lights up briefly, but still nothing. Windows recognize the drive but the plateau of refuses to open. Eject commands the position of work and management of the computer-> disk management will not work. I can open the tray manually but the optical drive will not read any cd/dvd. No error code in return.

When that happens it cause peaks of high utilization of the processor (from 60 to 100%) in the System Idle Process. Just stop and restart it solve. After that, the laptop also runs fine and the optical drive.

    I replaced Win7 32-bit with a 64-bit version and the problem persist.

    Help, please. Thank you.

I have the same machine with Win7 32 bit and use several players. Everything works perfectly. On this virtual path, it is not easy to say what may be the problem. The configuration of your laptop is not known to us, and we don t know how you set up your operating system and additional applications are preinstalled.

Maybe stupid advice now, but you must install recovery image original Vista that you got with the functionality of your laptop and test with the factory settings. If the same problem occurs we can chat about it.

  • system tray icon

How can I reduce a VI to an icon in the tray (7,8,8.1) Windows system?

Using the NotifyIcon .NET class. There is a nice wrapper of LabVIEW for the functions available here: https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-10683

I used it in the past and outside a few leaks memory (see discussion below), it works fine. I used stably in an application for almost two years and have no problem with it.

If you also want to hide the taskbar, you must put an INI key in your executable files. INI file (HideRootWindow = TRUE (I think?).

(And please do not use large fonts in your posts - the default font size is fine )
