Satellite 2400-103 shows no BIOS or Boot Menu

I want to save this beauty that I found but I have a problem: after entering the Bios password Windows XP starts immediately, no JOB nothing.

I tried the method that theoretically works: "ESC" key while Toshibe logo appears and then 'F1' at the prompt, by coolies restarts when I hit F1. Also, I can't from the CD. I read that you can boot from the cd while you press 'C', but it does not work. Can it be a CMOS problem?

Can someone help me? TX and sorry for my bad English.

This with ESC is right. If you want to enter the BIOS settings, you should only use ESC.
Start your laptop and press ESC only. I hope that you will be asked to enter the BIOS password and after doing this, you should be able to enter the BIOS settings.

In my opinion, you should remove BIOS password and set it back to default settings. After doing this I believe that the use of the CD drive as a boot device should not be the problem more.

    Hello

I am currently in the processing you want to perform an update of the operating system on my laptop. When I bought the laptop in a well known department store, it came loaded with Windows 7, despite the operating system preloaded in Windows 8 when buying.

I already disabled fast closing down, such as recommended elsewhere on the forum. However, after the closure of many downs and startups, based on all kinds of combination of keys to try to get the menu of boot or bios, I can't do it. It starts directly to Windows.

I tried to boot from an aswell as a bootable USB external DVD drive.

I tried F2, F12, F10, ESC and DEL at the start, but nothing. With pressure repeated, with continuous waiting, with the FN button, just in case... just nothing!

Could someone provide an overview of this please?

  • Satellite 2400-103 - what is the maximum size of HARD drive?

    Hi all.
    New here.

Nobody knows what the maximum hard disk size is for a Satellite 2400-103? This laptop has a 30GB HARD drive which is complete at the moment and I'm moving to a 160 GB unit.

Used software - DiskCopy - clone Moose 30 GB of cloning to the new 160 GB drive. This creates a partition on the disk that is the same size as the original (about 28GB). If the new hard drive is installed on the laptop at this point, the laptop will be start OK. If I use a partition manager - Partition Magic - to resize the partition to the size of the new disc (about 150 GB) then the laptop does not start.

Would it because there is a limit on the size of the hard disk supported by this laptop?
If so, what is the limit?

    Thank you and best regards.

    Mike

    Hello!

Satellite 2400 is very old notebook, so I think it has a limitation of LBA 28 bits. This means that you can only use up to 128 GB of free space so the maximum capacity of the disc HARD would be 120 GB. So I think that's the reason why the computer laptop can-t start successfully with the 160 GB model.

In your case I bring back the 160 GB model to the computer store and ask one another 120 GB one. It should work normally

  • Satellite 2400-103, problem with the Yamaha AC - XG WDM Audio driver

Need help. I've updated my Windows system of my Satellite 2400-103 for reasons of security through the SP pack. However, once done the Yamaha AC device driver - XG WDM Audio is not compataible. That's why I need to download another compatible audio driver. Help please...

    Hello
I think you are talking about Service Pack 2, you?

Microsoft considers that the pilot of his Yamaha AC - XG is unstable and can compromise the stability of the system. When Service Pack 2 is installed, Windows disables the audio driver.

You can try to install the drivers of its generics, but it may not work with your system.

If the sound is working, you will not be able to use a volume control on the taskbar when you use the generic driver.

  • Satellite L30 - 11 d: update Bios to boot from USB

    I have a Satellite L30 11(d) bought Sept 07.

I'm interested in trying to boot from USB, at the present time, my bios does not.
I am looking to update my bios. There is a updated bios updated for me to download (3.10WIN).

    I have 3 questions:

    (1) 3.10WIN allows to boot from USB?

    (2) is 3.10WIN related to the use of MS Vista? (Looking at this article , it seems that the new phoenix / toshiba bios only allows panoramas...?)

    (3) how to settle?

(with ubuntu 7.10 works well... aside from the sound)

    As to the question;

    (1) No, it is not possible to boot from a memory stick USB HDD or USM

    (2) each BIOS for each series of Toshiba notebook is different! Please don t no matter what other laptop computer BIOS or fixed PCs. Satellite L30 - 10 d belongs to the series of the 3,10 and PSL33E BIOS is OS independent. If your laptop comes with XP then the BIOS supports XP completely. Of course, you can try to install Vista but it is possible that some features of the laptop as FN keys will be does not work

    (3) the BIOS should always be done in the Windows operating system. As you can see on the page of the Toshiba driver the BIOS version is called 3.10Win - version

  • Satellite 2400-103 - how do I replace the DVD-ROM?

    Hello

I am trying to replace my s2400-103 satellite dvd - rom drive, but I can't get the laptop computer. I have tryied to remove all the screws at the bottom of the laptop, but the disc has yet been set. How can I get the old dvd - rom on my computer?

    Hello

Are you sure that you have removed all the necessary screws which were placed at the bottom of the unit?
In my view, the reader is fixed with an additional screw that is placed on the inside but I m not 100% sure.
You can also ask the service partner how to replace the drive because it has detailed documents and information on these procedures.

  • Satellite 2400-103 changing from french to English keyboard

I have a laptop s2400-103 of the french satellite which is running windows software and English - which is fine as long as I don't have to type in a hurry.
Can someone help me with room for an English keyboard and number ideas as to where I could get hold of one

    Thank you

    Hello

The keyboard is compatible with this unit, you will be able to order is the Toshiba service partner in your country.

PS: I guess your language settings of the keyboard in the regional and language options are available in the UK. Try changing it to the French. In this case, you will get the same signs as on the mentioned keyboard.

  • Satellite 2400-103-led power flashes orange!

    Can someone help me?

After restarting my computer laptop the power light indicator is flashing: short - long - short - in short - short - short - long - long
    and do not start.

I have to remove the battery and the AC adapter. Then I wait a few seconds and it works.
What does this light flashing? (should I replace the CMOS bat?)
    Thanks for your help.
    Uwe

    > Whatever that means flashing light?
It is a firmware and, it seems, especially if a motherboard error has been detected.

The blinking short average 0 and long flashing means 1.
In your case; 0100 0011 due the low tip must he read behind 1100 0010.

    > Can I replace the CMOS bat?
Unfortunately, it s I don't known what that error code could mean exactly.
But as far as I know that ASP can help you. And you shouldn't t replace the CMOS battery because you don t know what the code means and if the replacement would be useful.

  • Satellite 2400 - 103: sound does not work after installing SP2

    Hello!
I had to install Windows XP Service Pack 2 to keep my Windows Update. Unfortunately, my audio device does no more work because XP is considered a potential threat.
When first, I installed SP2 last year and saw that I had no sound on my PC, I just uninstalled it because I didn't know what to do for my sound card.
Now that I have to install it, I must do something for this sound card (as a music lover, I am not not to be able to listen to it).

Could you please tell me if Toshiba has created a code for this problem? The devices dialog box tell a Code 48. I'll contact Yamaha?
Thanks a lot ofr your answers.
    Good bye
    Catherine

    Hello

Have you checked the page of the Toshiba driver to update the audio driver?
If this isn't the case, then do it!
I visited this site and find a sound driver of Yamaha. The update is on 14/01/05 and all other drivers are since 2002. So I guess that the audio driver has been updated on the page.

So download the driver and install it on your laptop!

    Good luck

  • Drive 1 not found, cannot enter the bios or boot menu.

I hope you guys can help me with a problem. I have a workstation t5400. A few days ago it stopped booting. I get a disk 0 not found: Serial ATA, Sata 0. On the bios boot screen, I can hit f2 and it says its set of entry towards the top but just goes back to the drive not found error. I tried to change the cables, tried plugging the drive into another port (which I do not know is actually activated because I can't get on the bios). I know for a fact that the drive works. I replaced the motherboard battery. I wouldn't be able to get into the bios without any installed readers?

Any help would be a life saver. Thank you

    Morgan.

Thank you. I unplugged all readers but that did not work at first. It took me ten minutes to realize I should probably remove the battery for a second. I finally had no error! messages and means able to enter setup. All disks have been disabled. That makes sense to me because 0 is enabled by default and it wouldn't give me a not found error if the port has not been activated and that I should still be able to access at least bott settings.

Anyway, problem solved. Thanks for the help. I still want to know why he messed up.
