    Hello

Well, in my opinion, this problem occurs if the USB port can't provide enough power.
In this case, that the USB hub must be connect to external power.

  • How to use on the Satellite 2430-101 S-Video port?

    Hi all!

I don't know if I'm in the right section... I have a second hand S Satellite 2430-101 and use Microsoft Windows XP. Unfortunately I can't use the s-video output, because I do not know, how should be done. Quite simply, do not attach the s-video cable to the TV worked. What do I need to enable something in Notepad? Thank you in advance

    Hello

As Nicky said if the unit is pre-installed with recovery CD, you can use the FN + F5 key combination and switch to the external display or TV. Check also display properties > settings > advanced > nView. Control the clone and device settings option. Under device settings, you can find the device selection option.

  • Satellite 2430-101 is compatible with 100 GB HARD drive?

    Dear comrades,

    I immediately bought a Hitachi Travelstar 7K 100, 100G of HARD drive.
Can I use this HARD drive with my laptop Toshiba 2430-101? Has anyone had experience with this combination?

    Kind regards

No, you cannot use the 100 GB HARD drive.
As far as I know the laptop supports following three HARD drive sizes:
    -30 GB (4200 RPM)
    -40 GB (4200 / 5400 RPM)
    -60 GB (4200 / 5400 RPM)

More large hard disks could not be recognized by the BIOS.

  • Satellite 2430-101: BIOS and many other issues

Then... I had more than 1 question and I hope someone out there can answer...

1 - is the new Bios (1, 60 - WIN) supports Hyperthreading? If not, is there an other BIOS that is compatible with the S2430-101?

    2. I want to replace the P4 2, 54GHz with a P4 2 8 GHz (800 MHz Bus, HT). If the Bios recognizes the new processor? The heat problem is not really a big problem for me, cause I plan to underclock (if its too hot for the old cooling system to manage) the P4 to 2.6. I want just the stuff (for example HT) of the new processor

    3. not the BIOS recognize a 120 GB HD?

    4. does anyone have experiences with the MSI mini-PCI combo (Blutooth/WLAN) card?

    5. the S2430-101 got a Geforce 4 420 go 32 MB... I was just thinking to upgrade to Geforce 4 440 go with 64 MB... Is this possible... His chip with several pipelines and so on... Its the same family... Has anyone tried replacing a laptop graphics chip? Perhaps a 'material-designer' Toshiba could give some comments to this :D Hey guys... Is this possible?...

6 I need more power, I need more mAh: D... Do anyone know why the battery has more than 2 pins? Is there any material in the battery which tells the system information of the battery? If so, is it possible to build its own battery or system requires information from the battery in order to operate. If Yes, where can I get the specifications of this "battery pack material"?

    Thanks in advance... Stryker

    Hello

I'm not an expert, but I'll try to help: :)

    1. There is no public list where you can read what each update BIOS contains or which issues are fixed. It is always recommended to install later and ONLY Toshiba designed update the BIOS.
    2. I can't give you specific information about CPU upgrade, but as far as I know, replacement of the CPU is often not possible. The processors used in laptops are connected to the motherboard using a process called TCP (tape carrier package). It is a method of permanent connection and it is used in the interest of the miniaturization and heat dissipation. For more information try to contact the Service partner in your country.
    3. you will be lucky if someone has tested with the same unit. This unit is about three years old and it is not easy to say what is the maximum size of HDD supported by the BIOS. I found the info set comes with 40 GB and you can use 60 or 80 GB HARD drive, and I think that there should not be no problem. If you need more space, you can use external HARD drive (unit has USB 2.0 and data transfer speed will be fast enough)
    4. I don't think you can use any card combo on this device because of hardware architecture. WLAN is here but BT module is missing and you can use an external solution such as BT USB stick.
5 update graphics card is usually not possible.
    6. sorry but this question is a bit stupid to me :) and I really put t know how you want to use the battery clean.

Expensive Stryker at the end I just recommend you to buy a new laptop. Believe me it's much cheaper than all your projects for the upgrade. Please think about it!

The wireless is optional in this unit. So you can improve this laptop with a wireless 802.11 MNI PCI LAN card.
Please see your service partner Toshiba for installation of a wireless card. If you open Notepad by yourself if you lose the warranty.

You will need the SDRAM PC133 modules.
Buy the Toshiba recommended modules you on the right side.
I found these modules that are recommended by Toshiba.

    PC133 512 MB (PA3108U - 1 M 51)

  • 2430-101 stops at Toshiba-Logo (BIOS Setup/Boot-selection products deadloop)

    Hello.

I have a serious problem with my Satellite 2430 101:

The system stops at the start after reaching the TOSHIBA Logo. Pressing F2/F12-key appears common waiting messages ("enter in BIOS-Setup" / "entering Boot Device selection Menu) "), but the system hangs and then upward in a deadloop (you can hear the fan turning after a few seconds). Restarting with Ctrl + Alt + Delete system works perfectly, but as soon as it happens

This is what happened before the last stop:

I simply restarted the system (OS: Novell/SUSE Linux 9.3 kernel 2.4.xxx) and usual stop messages appeared. Then there was strange messages, which resembles BIOS-output (I'm sure it's no message-Linux)-I remember only something about "Boot PXE" and that it was an error message. After waiting some time (about 15 minutes), I rebooted manually by pressing the power button.

I tried unplugging everything which has been connected to the system (including ModularBay devices) - without any result. I use the old BIOS 1.10 because there is no BIOS-update to the 2430-101 available in the downlads (maybe that was the problem). I also tried out the hard drive - even without a hard drive, the system displays the same behavior (if the hard drive is not the problem)...

I hope someone can help me with this, because I need my laptop for my work...

    Thank you

    Hi Rico,

Have you tried to boot in SafeMode (PF8)? This should at least help you in your system to check for any errors.

You can also try pressing them ESC when starting so that you can see the progress of the BIOS and the error messages.

  • Broken KeyCaps on Satellite 2430

    Dear all,

A cap broken on my Satellite 2430. The question is: I have to replace the full keyboard or are available separately. If Yes, where can I buy the keys? Thank you very much for your support in advance.

    Kind regards

    Robert

The best way to replace a broken/missing CAP is via E - bay. Get a used/broken/new keyboard and detach the CAP you need.
    http://search.eBay.com/Toshiba-keyboard

Toshiba supplies as much as I know only all keyboards (over 100 US$) or 'Language Exchange keycaps' (see link for photo):

  • Satellite L20-101: Question on battery & BIOS password

    Dear Sir or Madam:

I have a Toshiba laptop satellite L20-101, so can u please answer my questions below.

Is it better for the battery life to always stay connected to an electrical outlet when possible, or charge the battery and then use it until it needs to be recharged again? I mean what is best for the life of the battery, and I need to know if stay connected to AC power affects the battery life.

How can I set a password for the laptop not windows? Because when I enter BIOS setup and set a password for user and supervisor. He just ask me about this password when I try to login to Setup again, but it is still continuous to the windows boot without asking me about a password.

    What should I do?

    Kind regards

    Hello

The fact is that you can charge/discharge the battery about 500 times.
After this period, the battery will lose performance.
More recent laptops and batteries use the latest technology of load.
But I recommend to remove the battery, if you work on the DC for a long time.
In this case, you can extend the life of the battery and the performance

Please also check other topics on this topic like this.
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=13088&MessageID=47924

If you want to set the BIOS password and it should appear at the beginning, you must activate the password at startup option in the BIOS.

  • Satellite L20-101: Question about memory PC2-4300 and PC2-4200 of mixture

    Hello

I have Toshiba Satellite L20-101. He took 512 MB RAM (PC2-4300). Today, I added another module of RAM but this new module is PC2-4200. Is there something wrong with that? The two modules are DDR2 and 533 MHz and 512 MB.

    Hi Pawel,

In principle, there is no problem with the mixture of slightly different types of RAM modules, but normally the total RAM will run at the speed of the slowest module. When your notebook detects the right amount of RAM from two sticks then it don't will don't... no problem.

    Kind regards

  • Question about updating BIOS for Satellite 2450-101

Hi, I want to update BIOS for my Satellite 2450-101 (model: PS245E-01TMY-IT). I downloaded the BIOS "bios - 20071008123347.zip" on Toshiba Europe site (see link below). Is this the right one for my PC?
What do you propose to make a backup of the existing before installing the new?

I want to make an extension of memory, but I'm not sure whether this is necessary. Do you reccoment to update the bios anyway?

    Thank you very much!

    BIOS

    Hello!

Yes, it's the good BIOS because it s also for your model (Satellite 2450-101).

A BIOS update is an upgrade of RAM is not necessary. The BIOS has nothing to do with the maximum RAM capacity.
Satellite 2450-101 supports up to 1 GB, type PC2100 DDR - RAM.

    Good bye

  • Lost recovery CD and Satellite 2430 201 joined...

I have laptop of TOSHIBA Satellite 2430 201

    (1) I ve lost Windows recovery CD ROM How can I get another one back.

    (2) is this type of laptop have integrated Wireless LAN?

    (3) is to have this type of computer laptop built-in mic?

You can order your CD from recovery of your local Toshiba authorized provider only, given that each cell has its own recovery CD. Maybe you could find someone with the same model and ask him. As for the other questions, I don't know--not even look it up in Google I found this model. This characteristic model what? I mean, what CPU, etc. Perhaps you could search the net and find something about it.

I asked in some pc shops & they loaded some software, there by some functions like music before keyboard does not work and my laptop has become its slow. Hello

the problem is that no one here could provide you with a recovery disc because it's just a toshiba user forum and not a support line for users of toshiba.

You have still a few options to make your system works, if you have an original disc of windows then install and download the drivers and tools of this site:

    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp

Otherwise, you can contact a local asp, they can sell you a recovery cd, if you wish.
To find a servicepartner you can use the following site to find the nearest ASP in your country:

    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/generic_content.jsp?service=EU&ID=ASP_SUPPORT

In the case of any question: just do it. Ask. ;)

    See you soon
