    Hello Saud

I guess that your processor is in permanent use and it is possible that for a moment the screen freezes. N my opinion you should check in the Task Manager, applications and unnecessary processes running in the background. Try to stop the tem and thus reduce the CPU usage.

  • Satellite 5200: lines on the screen - driver does not properly

    Laptop: Satellite 5200 702

A few days ago, my laptop screen went all funny lines, came to the screen in a form of flickering green, the laptop froze and then the driver failed. The funcitons still mobile but I have these lines always start the toshiba XP loading screen system, so I know it will be a hardware problem. I have attached an external monitor to confirm that this is not a screen problem.

Sometimes I turn on the laptop and the screen will be fine and loaded drivers, but that only lasts for about 2 minutes then XP lock ip, blue screens and reboots. Then once it to load with the dirver does everything wrong.

I took the flat laptop cleaned and looked for something sensitive which could be causing it? I have not changed or verified the memory of the laptop, if it's an idea to do?

    Any suggestions?

    Hello

This really looks like to me a graphics card failure. What do you think?
Have you tried recovery of the operating system with the recovery CD Toshiba delivered? If this is not the case, try to install the OS from CD. Then you can be sure that the issue is not relegated to a malfunction of the software (driver) to 100%.

But generally, I don t think you can fix it yourself. I m not sure if the graphics card may be withdrawn or entire motherboard but if it s a bad hardware work if the part needs to be replaced.
If you have no significant experience in the laptop repair, then you should ask a technician for help.

  • How to set the Satellite Pro M10 screen as secondary in a configuration double monitor?

I tried to use the laptop as a secondary display screen in a dual monitor Setup, but I can not change in display properties. To choose an external monitor like main screen is grayed out. Only option is to use the external monitor as a secondary screen or a clone, but this isn't what I want.
    I tried the things:
    * Laptop computer in a docking station
    * Update the video card drivers
    * Use UltraMon

    Any ideas on that?

    Hi Steen

Can you please tell me what model of laptop you have? Is this other older or the new brand? As much as I know this option is not available on all Toshiba laptops. On my Tecra I'm not able to use this option, but I know with certainty that on some cell phones, something like this is possible.

  • Satellite 5200 - powers automatically (sensor/hall-magnet)

I have an automatic feeding weird issue with my laptop Satellite 5200.

    * Situation. *
1 laptop is turned off and the cover is open
    2. I close the lid while the laptop is always off (just battery is connected)
3 result: the laptop automatically and boots: how weird is it that

It has something to do with the magnet that is integrated in the screen/lid place/located near the right hinge. When you close the magnet is close sensor (hall sensor) and apparently, this magnetic field causes the cell to initialize. Normally, if your laptop is running and you close the lid of your laptop computer goes into mode sleep with this technology (magnet and sensor). My laptop works well if she runs and I close the lid. Then it goes on standby as expected. When I opened the lid he returned from sleep mode.

The issue I am facing now is really just when I close the lid, * while the laptop is turned off already *.
How do I fix this behavior stupid - how to adjust the magnet/sensor so it has not received the impulse to automatically feed upward.
The solution must be around here somewhere. And I don't think it's a software configuration problem, because the laptop is turned off when this occurs - so no Windows is running, it is not in standby or hibernation mode.

    Your help would be appreciated.

Thank you very much for your advice!

    Hello

If he s really a lid switch problem then it would mean that there is a mechanical problem that could be solved by a service partner
But I think that this is not a sensor problem possibly display frame/cover touch the power button (that's my opinion) and that feeds on the new laptop

Just a question; What is cable LAN connected to the laptop when the laptop automatically?
If Yes, then I would recommend checking the BIOS if the Wake up on LAN option could be disabled
In many cases, it would lead to the reactivation of the laptop

BTW: I'm sorry for my bad English

    Hello

Well, sorry, but I can't give you a good answer to your question.
The fact is that the screen of the laptop is a portable computer expensive part.
You should contact Toshiba service partner in your country and ask for replacement costs.

Also, I found this page where you can find the compatible screen.

  • Satellite 5200: Question on TouchPad scroll function

My Satellite 5200 Series has a scroll wheel PHYSICS to the title of the two touchpad buttons 'the mouse'. I found a useful feature heavily but cannot find all the current models that have preserved it.

    It was rejected?

Is there another way to scroll with newer machines?

I would rather not add an external mouse because it blocks a precious USB port AND I actually use my laptop outside on my KNEES.

    Hi Tatterdemalion,

Most modern laptops using a touch pad have a scrolling function software (which can be disabled if you wish) to control automatic scrolling. This is very useful for navigation text in Word documents or web pages etc., the technique (when enabled) is to set the top left or right of the touchpad to 'activate' and by touching this area temporarily, it will change the pointer of the foam to indicate the auto scroll option. Then only, drag the pointer slightly down and the screen starts to scroll until you tap the key again.

A manual scroll mechanism is also available and can be used simply by stroking the right side of the touchpad (down to scroll down and up to scroll to the top) and the bottom of the touchpad to scroll left and right.

I find these features useful, but I know other people who find them extremely irritating. It is useful to check.

    Kind regards

  • Remove the satellite 5200-902-word of past BIOS

Just turn on the computer laptop Satellite 5200-902 Harman Kardon hangs on the Toshiba screen and asks me the password I never set.
I can't boot from any external device. In the little LCD Panel under the touchpad, I see the prompt for the password after three incorrect attempts, turned off the laptop.

    You kindly help me?

BIOS password can be set only. If you don't set it maybe someone else did it for you make problems. BIOS password can be removed by Toshiba authorized personal only.
You must also understand that BIOS password is very important security feature and how to remove it isn't for the public forum.

I hope you agree with me.

  • Satellite 5200 701: I can't use the TV-out more.

    Hello
This is my first post on this forum. I have a Satellite 5200 701 for 3 years now. I can't watch movies on my TV. I could use this function in the past.

Last November, I formatted my laptop with CD from Toshiba. As I didn't have a TV, I tried not using the TV function. But now that I have a (different) TV, I tried to use it without success.
When I press Fn + F5, nothing happens. When I go to the selection of the screen, I can select the 2nd display but in "Advanced", I can't find the same features I've had in the past (before formatting). I don't have the Nview utility in "Advanced"...
Is this a driver problem? NVIDIA, Toshiba or Microsoft? Problem of material...?

I don't know how to solve this problem.

    Kind regards

It cool s that you have solved the problem.
Thanks for the information. It could be very useful for users of the Toshiba a different forum.

  • Satellite 5200-801-failure of graphics HW

    Hello

Is it possible to change the graphics card to a Satellite 5200 801? Or it is part of the motherboard, means, I need to change the mothermoard? If it is possible, what is probable invest?

    Question:
My graphics card appears to show a HW failure. After that turn on the screen of the laptop shows the thin vertical lines and it starts flashing after a few seconds.

During the startup of Windows XP, the machine meets a bluescreen detection of problems with the nvidia device.

When I start the laptop mode safe, the notebook starts up and I'm able to evidence with the Manager of Windows hardware, Windows detects a HW problem with the graphics card.

So I'm sure it's the graphics card or the video RAM. Even playing with the video modes do not change or correct the problem. Also the video mode with the highest resolution is no longer available.

The LCD display is new. I changed it with a new 3 months ago.

    Thanks in advance,
    MacSobeck

    Hello

The Satellite 5200 801 was delivered with an nVidia GeForce4 460Go 64 MB graphics card.
But as far as I know it of not possible to change the graphics chip. This small chip is attached to the motherboard.
I guess that it of necessary to replace the motherboard.

  • Satellite 5200 701: RAM problem?

    Hello

After my last thread, I could somehow isolate the problem further.

My Satellite 5200 701 boots Win XP correctly, but when it is lifted upward or to the smallest shake the screen freezes or displays the Win screen in strange colors. When I hit carefully on its underside after you have started successfully, it crashes immediately when I touch the part of the cover of RAM.

So, I guess it has something to do with the RAM. However, both RAM blocks have been verified by Toshiba, as well as the HARD drive.

    Does anyone have a solution?

    1 million thanks!

    Hi Moritz,

According to your description of the problem, it is most likely something made intermittent contact where your RAM modules are connected. Try to remove and then reposition modules RAM themselves (by taking the necessary precautions of antistatic property course) to see if that helps. Make sure that the RAM modules are in place and properly locked in place.

You can also try exchanging the RAM autour modules so that they are in the bays of spare.

If your problem persists, then it is likely that there is a bad connection between takes of the RAM and the motherboard connections.

  • How to restart the Satellite 5200 801 without using the recovery disk?

    Hello
I haven't used my Satellite 5200 801 for awhile and now it does not start. That's what I have on the black screen:

    Intel® Boot Agent Version 4.1.04
    Copyright © 1997-2002, Intel Corporation
PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable of
PXE - M0F: Exit Intel Boot Agent.
    Insert system disk in drive.
    Press a key when tready.

I have the product recovery disc, but which will erase all existing data and rebuild. Is there a way to boot my PC without the use of the recovery disk?

    Thanks for any help.

    > PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable of

This message means that laptop tried to boot from LAN.
Given that this was not possible the PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable appeared

I guess that the HARD drive is defect and therefore, the laptop won't boot from the internal HARD drive.
In this case also your internal data on the HARD disk are lost.

But to be100% sure that you can remove the laptop HARD drive, could use a drive enclosure HARD 2.5 to connect the HARD drive to another computer just to check if you would be able to access data on the HARD drive

  • Dysfunction of graphics on a Satellite 5200 801

    I have a Toshiba Satellite 5200-801 (nr.PS 520-31P1D-PT) with the following problem:

After pressing the button operation, the screen shows vertical stripes, alternately, with large rectangle B & W points. After Windows XP spit and the only thing I can do, it's a hard reboot again and again once.

It happened all of a sudden without any specific reason a few days ago, and now I never finished a full boot sequence Windows normal.

I read another discussion here in this forum, and I guess that the problem should be on the graphical circuit inside the motherboard. Do you think this could be a malfunction of this series from Toshiba?
I try to call today for the phone number of European support, but after 15 minutes of waiting I hang it up.

Here in Lisbon (Portugal), I have no idea how to solve this problem.

Could all those who have already opened this model, you tell me if the graphic chipsset could be changed? (This is perhaps a silly question :-(sorry on this subject)

Thank you very much for other ideas solving this dysfunction,
    Luis Pitta (from Lisbon)

    Hi Luis

He damage of s to hear that I agree with you it could be a graphics card but I put t think it is of a common malfunction of this series laptop.
You know, these defects occur just my laptop another production was fixed 2 times due to the fault of the sound card
I think laptops are more affected by various malfunctions due to the temperature inside the laptop. The devices together produce a lot of heat and after several times the chip can damage all simply.

It seems that you don't have much experience with this replacement and so I don't t recommend trying to fix it yourself. Firstly the replacement of the devices isn't easy as on the desktop PC and second you don t have the right parts.
The technicians of the partner of service authorized in your country have more experience as a common user like me and you.
    Guys should check the laptop

  • Satellite Pro M70 - screen is blank

    Hey guys,.

Have had my Satellite Pro M70 for more than a year now and never gave me any problems before. On about 3 times now, the screen disappeared all of a sudden completely gray and white and stays that way, unless I restart and is so very well.

Appears to be spontaneous, can't everyday and not even aware if his reason leaving for a long time.

Ive noticed that more than half of the screen flashes from time to time but don't know if it's because it's on during a long period or heat related but only started to do this recently.

It just seems to be a problem with the monitor, like running programs under were unaffected (IE if I was running MSN messenger and the screen went gray, I could still type messages, etc just not see them!).

Have the latest graphics driver for my Intel knowledge: 6.14.10.4363, don't know if it could be a problem with the card? Hepatitis a lot of free hard disk space, seeking to increase the ram (currently 512) suggestions?

    Hello

I am very happy that I don't have these problems on my Satellite M70. I recommend you test your laptop connected to an external display to see if the symptoms are the same. If so, I fear that there is a problem with the graphics card.

On the RAM, can I just say that your laptop can handle with max 2 GB RAM and compatible RAM modules are:
    512 MB (PA3412U - 1 M 51)
    1 GB (PA3411U-1M1G)

    Good bye

  • Satellite U500-119 toolbar disappears sometimes

On my Satellite U500-119, sometimes disappears from the toolbar.

To solve the problem, I have to restart the computer.

    How to solve this problem?

    Hey,.

    Which toolbar say you exactly?
Do you mean Flash cards on the top on the screen?

If so you should try to reinstall Toshiba Value added Package. This package controls the FN keys and Flash cards, they will be displayed if you press a FN key. You can download it here:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

You must remove the older version first, and then restart your laptop. Now you can install VAP last page of Toshiba.
