Satellite A10 won't begin until after several removals of battery

I have a Satellite A10 I bought in 2003. Since I have it, sometimes just does not start. I press the Start button and nothing happens. So, I have to remove the battery and put it back in, then try again. I have to repeat this step up to 6 times before it starts. Sometimes it starts right away, but in most cases I have to go through this procedure. If I ever get the battery completely, same thing. He will start only after trying it several times.

I figured out that if she had been closed only a few hours ago, it has no problem starting. But in the morning, after having been turned off for 12 hours or more, that's the problem.

So far it has always started after several tests, but I'm afraid someday he will stay dead. If someone had the same problem and knows if there is help?

Hello

In my opinion, there is definitely hardware problem and this behavior is probably defective electronic power responsible. Because of this, I put t believe you can do something to make it better. I recommend you contact the partner of service allowed in your country and explain the situation.

If you need addresses you will find under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/ - Support & downloads search for an ASP.

  • Satellite A10 won't boot up - bad sectors on HARD drive

    Hallo,

    I have a Toshiba Satellite A10
    Model No.: PSA10E-018EZ-DU

The problem is that you comp. won't start.
There are some areas of bad or damaged HD
I ran chkdsk a few weeks ago, it has helped but now there are still problems.
    If chkdsk is running again.
Is there a better program to check your HD or should I do something else?

    A new HD?
What kind of HD am I looking for?
is a HD for a nootbook oke?
Or are there restrictions for a HD satellite A10?

    http://www.csfolmer.nl

    HEY Kees,

There are other utilities that you can use to check your hard disk (Norton Disk Doctor for example) but CHKDSK is as good as all the others.

If you get repeated hard disk problems, then this is a good indication to a new hard drive. I suggest you try to backup your data even if you can't always. I'm not aware of any restrictions on the ability of any hard drive that you choose for your A10, but it must of course be the same as your existing drive form factor. You can also consider using a drive with a speed higher than the original drive.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite A10 dies after the power LED blink

    Hello

I have a problem with the power supply of my Toshiba Satellite A10. Sometimes, after the computer sat for some time, I have a problem with the power. The "plugged power cable" - LED will start to blink and shortly after, the computer just dies.

It can also have the time to go into a lower energy state before he does. When it happened once, it will most likely happen also when I restart the computer, but after a much shorter time. WXP won't even have time to start. If I stop to select the source of start-up, the problem will occur anyway, this isn't the software. It should also be noticed that when the computer is not turned off, the 'smart power' - is on correctly.

I know that my battery is not very good. Completely loaded, the computer can run for maybe 3 minutes with only the battery. I know that I must have a battery connected, even if I use the power cable, but this occurs even when the mine problem. The battery would be pretty bad not even allow me to use the computer with a cable?

It should be added, that sometimes I can use the computer for long periods of time without this problem to happen. I also have a problem with the battery not being not properly in physical contact with the pins of the computer, but this isn't the problem here, because I have the same problem with the battery removed and me holding the battery in place.

    Thank you for your help.

    Andreas

    Hello

You description is very long and detailed and it of still not easy to say what's wrong.
Usually, the DC-In witness lights up green when DC is provided FRO the AC current. If the output voltage of the adapter is abnormal or if power outages, this indicator flashes orange.

So I think that is your AC adapter malfunctions or there is something wrong with the electronic power supply on the motherboard.

Sorry to say but it seems that you used the wrong BIOS!

  • Satellite A300 - after several months, it became noisy

    Hi all!

I have a problem with my Satellite A300. The cooling fan is not functioning effectively. The fan runs almost constantly, even if the PC in standby, when I do nothing on computer.
I cleaned the fan holes and ventilate the air, so it is very clean. I checked the cooling modules in the Toshiba Power Saver, as well as in the ATI PowerPlay.
    All settings are OK...

The question is, why my Toshiba works fine, when I just bought it, but after several months, it has become a noisy machine? It was very very portable and fan worked perfectly...

Thanks a lot for your help!

    Hello!

In your case I would use compressed air jet on the underside and on the left side of the laptop to make sure that blow you the dust from the cooling fans.

After cleaning your laptop, you should look into the Vista power management. Here you can change the cooling method and choose another option, for example optimized battery.

Maximum cooling performance method means that your CPU can run on the highest speed and so it needs more cooling.

    Good bye

I have a satellite a10, I bought a new hard drive on ebay brand new in the package and it's a 40 GB with the Toshiba name thereon. I took the old 30 GB and put in the drive.

Put in the original recovery CD, I got with the laptop and get the screen: "WEelcome to the toshiba recovery utility" etc, etc. HIT F1 ok but nothing happens,
    Any thoughts?

Recovery at startup press 1 procedure and not F1 for installation in Standard mode.

  • The site Web of Toshiba LAN drivers - won't work - Satellite A10-163

I downloaded the following drivers (for my laptop; Satellite A10-163 model number: PSAA9E)

    LAN-sa100-PaaS-xp-8021101
    LAN-sa100-PaaS-xp-8021102
    LAN-sa100-PaaS-xp-9024
    LAN-sa100-PaaS-xp-9025

I unzipped each other and cannot find a file PROUnstl.exe, which UN-installs all the existing drivers. I can't find a "Setup.exe" or something that puts in place one of my wired or wireless network cards. I use Windows XP Home edition.

Is there anywhere I can get a driver that has a more easy to use the file "install.exe" inside?

Is there anyone who can help me to overcome this problem?

    Hello

First of all, all the drivers that are available on the page of the Toshiba driver should work properly. I m 100% sure on this subject. If you n t find any install.exe or setup.exe in the folder of the driver, then you must use another driver installation procedure.
Go to Device Manager, select the network card and install the driver. Please select the driver form the driver download location.

  • Satellite A10: "base system device" after reinstalling the HARD disk

I formatted the hard drive of my laptop (Toshiba Satellite A10) and downloaded the necessary drivers of Toshiba Europe's web site. Everything worked very well. So I decided to update my (bad decision) network card driver and it has slowed down considerably the system.

Believing that I was holding the solution in my hands, I formatted to new HARD drive, and when it came to reinstall the drivers all loaded ok except one:
    BASE SYSTEM DEVICE
Please let me know how to solve this problem.

Have you installed the chipset utility?
If this is not the case, first of all do before installing any other Toshiba tools and drivers.

I recommend to use the Toshiba Recovery CD.

  • Satellite A10 - how to get the new job of CPU?

    Hi all

    Cut long story short:

I own a Toshiba Satellite A10 former model Celeron 1.8 Ghz processor, running Windows XP SP3.

Just bought a 2.5 Ghz Celeron processor SL75T, verified even FSB, same PIN, compared to the current 1.8 Ghz via Ebay.

Do you have a swap and replace the 1.8 Ghz with the last 2.5 Ghz, the laptop is able to start, but it just hangs before entered into normal windows.

I tried safe mode, it went smooth, however intermittently crashes, too, but unless I could enter and change some settings.

Initially thought it was the power of thermal design of the 24.5W old abreast 35W. Although without any solid evidence to me i.e. get made reliable on temperature processor 3rd party software (coz the 3rd party software cannot run in safe mode environment), the fan is still running strong, just changed new fan not too long.

My hunch is that, when I was in Safe Mode Windows, I could see that in the list of the hardware in the Device Manager, the processor is still showing old clocked at 1.8 Ghz and not the latest 2.5 Ghz? However, when I right click on my computer and select Properties ==> system properties, it is show 2.49 Ghz-very good, just not inside the hardware of the Device Manager list. I tried to uninstall, but it still does not work after that several reboot.

I don't think that there is no driver for the change of processor, what should I do to avoid this 2.5 Ghz to hang up every time before, it tries to go in normal windows? I think that this should be an operating system problem I right? (not sure) Please enlighten. Thank you!!

    Hello

in my opinion, your motherboard is not strong enough to continue to run this processor and any 2.5 Ghz Celeron processor SL75T has the same FSB and the stem.

  • Keyboard on my Satellite A10 error

I have a portable satellite A10. It works very well, to accept a part: the keyboard. No reason, at some unpredictable point all the special keys on the right-hand side are mixed up (as of the key (,. / '=} etc.).) So, for example when I use the key / on the screen you will see =. I tried an external keyboard: same error. The problem can be resolved by restarting the computer, but it is up to each time.

The laptop is purchased nov 2003, tried install several drivers, nothing has worked. Everyone recognizes this problem?

    Hello

I guess the reason for your problem may be in the language settings. {[For example, if you have a keyboard of the France and the default input language is set to English, all the keys as & ^ _]} + will be mixed.

Please check under the Control Panel regional and language under text services and input languages Options, you will find the Details button. Go ahead and check your default input language. Should set you your regional language.

If you have some problems after that, please write again.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite A10: Cannot recover system with recovery CD

    Hej everyone!

I was struggling with a strange problem lately, I can not understand yet, so if anyone has any ideas so pls...

I have 2 laptops Satellite A10. I lost the CD of recovery to one of them, so when I tried to reinstall the laptop I decided to use the other one recovery CD to do that because they are the same... at least I thought they were...

I repartitioned the laptop with fdisk and made the partition active, formatted and then when I boot with the recovery CD, it began, began to dump files, but about 20%, he just say 'impossible recovery' or something "partition is not active" and restart. When I rebooted, it saw that the format of the C partition was gone (he said unformated or damaged partition).

Now, I tried 1 partition, 2 partitions, FAT32 and NTFS, no joy... I think you must have some special configuration of partitions to ensure the success of the recovery, but I don't know how.

I have not tried to reinstall the other laptop with the recovery CD because I'm afraid that it's too bad...
    Can someone help me pls?
    BR
    / Linus

    Hello Linus

Before you begin the recovery procedure, it can't do anything. Simply start the recovery procedure. I don't really know why the recovery procedure stops after 20%, but please do not prepare HARD drive before using the recovery procedure delivered.

If I remember well you have two options before the start of the recovery procedure: standard and expert mode. If you use the standard mode is wiped the entire HARD drive and recovery image will create a partition (the whole HARD disk capacity). Using expert mode you can create a clean partition and later in management of the disks (under WXP) create the second logical partition.

Please try both options. If the recovery CD is not damaged I really don't see any reason why the recovery procedure can be done successfully.

  • Incompatibility of modem satellite A10

    Hello
A few months ago, I bought the laptop satellite A10 in Australia. All the time I've been able to, I was very sattisfied with it.
Now, when I moved to the Slovakia, I realized an incompatibility of modem dial-up, so the modem does not work in Slovak telecommunications network.
Is it possible to install a firmware or to do something about this modem won't work in this area?
    Thanks for help

    Bishop

    Hello
Checked the modem country settings in the control panel?

    Good bye

  • satellite A10: no com3 don't dailtone

We have a toshiba satellite A10 with a modem internal toshiba. (XP OPERATING SYSTEM)
We lost the connection while working, and when we tried to reconnect there was no dial tone.

the modem works fine after interrogation he under the modem diagnostics, but just to be safe, I also tried another card modem with the same results.
the line is very good, I use it now.
in Device Manager, I could not see an entry for the ports, so I did a scan of hardware, but which does nothing and then I added a Compote via the Add Hardware icon in Control Panel. This solves the problem I couldn't see the ports in the Device Manager but now the thus created com3 has a yellow exclamation point and tells me that the device cannot start code 10.

So I deleted all the devices of yellow exclamation point and the modem, then restarted and after that the modem is immediately recognized and installed but her agrees not and they must be added manually with the same result of yellow exclamation point.

Some people suggest I get into the bios and remove or disable the ports and then start but bios does not even an entry for the ports. I get into the bios by keeping ESC pressed to the commissioning and in fact Toshiba adds a nice button on the control panel with HWsetup that gives the same options.

so now, I ran out of options and turn to experts for help.

    Thanks, Leo

    Hello

Code 10 means that this device cannot start. I'm a little confused about your problem. First COM 3 is a virtual port and it is normal that this port is invisible. If this port is visible, it must be with exclamation yellow because it's the virtual port, no real hardware. But it is not necessary be installed with the Add Hardware Wizard.

Your problem can be caused by many things.

    1. delete all entries with yellow exclamations. Search for hardware changes again. Now new modem is installed, and my opinion is that should now work correctly. But remember: you must make the new dial-up network connection and old must be deleted. It is very important because the old a lot of content of information settings that installed new Modem cannot use more. Also check the properties of your modem.

    2. after the installation of your modem card, there may be some conflicts with Modem from Toshiba. If you do not use the modem card all maybe more, is useful to delete all installed software.

    3. it is also possible that you have some dialer installed on your machine. Check it!

If that doesn t work, please let us know. And if you create your connection again, tell us what a problem was.
