  I have problem with my laptop its TOSHIBA SATELLITE A100-405 and 2 year old so no warranty now.

  I think that you should also check your RAM upgrades for user manuals. As far as I know that you can upgrade your laptop with 4 GB of RAM. Therefore, you can use DDR2-533 modules. You buy from an authorized service provider or Kingston modules also recommendable.

  Upgrading the CPU is not supported. BIOS and motherboard are tested only with the preinstalled CPU.

  I've got a 2.5 years old Satellite A100. He was going well until recently, when I found that the pc freezes completely - this looks only happen when I move the cursor on the screen. The only thing I can do, it's a hard re-boot.
  The problem has become more common, and I had to reinstall the operating system (using the disc that came with the laptop). After you have reinstalled everything worked well.
