Satellite A100 (PSAA9): How to get to the Vista's HotStart buttons?

BIOS: Recent v5.10

Problems:
1 button launches Internet Explorer IE correctly when connected, but if you press on when the machine is off, the machine is powered and Vista starts normally, but IE is not launch as expected after the initialization is complete.

2. Windows Media Player button doesn't launch Windows Media Player as expected when connected under Vista.
Tried all the registry changes detailed at: http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/platform/firmware/hotstart.mspx but without success.

Device Manager reports three unknown devices (two ACPI PNPC032: they are the HotStart - HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\ACPI\PNP0C32\ buttons and an ACPI\TOS1901 yellow exclammation mark and missing driver - Toshiba Firmware liaison pilot?).

Thank you.

Try downloading and installing the added value package (for Vista platform) on the toshiba site. This should fix at least one of your 'yellow exclamation marks '.

  • Satellite A100 PSAA9A - how to reset fingerprints

This is a "Satellite A100 PSAA9A-1L400F" and will not get beyond the "scan finger print" newspaper on the screen.
The finger print scan is always feel like I scan my finger or ask me to enter the password.

Someone please tell me can I reset, to bypass or disable this function? otherwise, I can't use the phone more.

    Thank you very much
    Mason

    Hello

As you said; the fingerprint application for fingerprint or password.
Generally if you have configured the footprint then you need to enter the password in case something would be wrong with the fingerprint reader.

If you cannot use the fingerprint and don t know the password that you put everything in the fingerprints configuration then you can't do anything only the ASP can delete and remove the security.

Therefore, you will need to contact a local technician to ASP and having to ask for help.

You can also try to contact the ASP in your country and ask the guy if he could order the Toshiba disk directly

  • Satellite A100-529: How can I enable the wireless network adapter

    Hi all!

I'm new here, but I want to know how can I activate the wireless network device. On my Toshiba Satellite A100-529 keyboard is a Fn key that must be pressed with the F8 key to turn on the wireless network device. I did, but it does not work.

What can I do to turn on my wireless device?
    Thank you!

You are right. The FN + F8 key combination should be used to switch to the WLan card.

But look, man. Have you checked if your laptop supports wireless network card?
I think it does not support the minPCI wireless network card and the card does not exist!

That's why the WLan card cannot be activated :) you know ;)

  • How to get off the Vista of Portege M200?

    Hello

I inherited Portege M200 from my boss, and he has updated using an external DVD from XP Pro to Vista Ultimate. Slow as a slow thing, very few pilots etc, meant that I am determined to go back to XP Pro.
I (128, 1 Gig and 2 gig options) SD cards and USB HP dvd1040e external drive, and XP Pro Tablet records.

I tried to select the devices to boot from the toshiba start screen, selecting SD or external DVD, but nothing helped. I changed the boot sequence in the Bios (hit escape and F1 at startup screen spalsh) and tried all combinations. I copied the image file to $TOSFD00.vfd on the SD card.

I managed to loop the machine, in all configurations, so that I just get support PXE-61 test failure, check cable PXE - MOF existing boot lines agent, then go to the Boot Manager Windows asks me to insert the windows installation disc as winload.exe may be damaged or missing. I removed the drive, checked that the winload.exe is present on the HARD disk, it is, and it is in its original version / size / format the date created.

Someone at - it a suggestoin which stops me pulling my hair?

    Thank you

    Hello

If you want to start from the CD or DVD you need a compatible external CD/DVD drive! Without that player you will not be able to reinstall Windows XP from the CD!

But the boss installed you the Vista operating system by using the external drive. Why you n t use the same drive to reinstall the XP?

The install form SD card is not possible! And if you want to install the image using the LAN you must configure a server

  • Satellite A100 PSAA9A - drivers and applications from the recovery disk

This laptop was reformated HARD drive and I decided to try Windows 7 (beta), which is currently installed and working well. I would like to install the original drivers and applications from the Toshiba recovery disc but I don't want to reinstal the operating system (XP). Is this possible?

As far as I know that is not possible because applications from the recovery disk and drivers are for Windows XP and they are not compatible with Windows 7.
In addition it of not possible to install the only special drivers or applications from the recovery disc.

You can download all the drivers and tools on the site of Toshiba, but I doubt that it of compatible with Windows 7, but you can try it out and post your result here.

  • How to create a new image complete for Satellite A100 PSAA9E?

My Satellite A100 PSAA9E is so amazing slow, in my view, that the only option is to uninstall everything. I mean how do I restore my laptop to its original condition inlc. last units of driver.

    Best regards
    Stef

    Hello

Before performing a new installation, you can clean your system using a software like TuneUp utilities. This is shareware, but you can use it for free for a month. It cleans up the registry, removes matched files, and...
If you want to restore their original state, use recovery discs or hard drive recovery image (by pressing F8 at startup). If you burn and missing hard drive recovery image, you can order from Toshiba for money or get a copy of windows for installation (all drivers you will find on the page of the Toshiba driver)

    Welcome them

  • Issue of the upgrade to Vista - Satellite A100 (PSAA9)

    Hello.
Well, I think to upgrade to windows vista from my laptop (Toshiba Satellite A100 (PSAA9)). I was researching (little) on the drivers and hardware compatibility with vista, and it seems that if I update now, I can't find major problems. Is this true?
I ask because when I was looking for drivers for vista, I found many (and some of those that exist, I can't download them!) But even without a driver, vista will recognize and install drivers 'default' for the material of my laptop? Can someone answer this with some?
My major concern is connectivity: lan and wireless! I'll be able to install the hardware drivers to operate these two things?

Thank you very much to all those who somehow tries to help with these issues!
    Good bye.

    Hello

I upgraded my and installed all the drivers from the card reader SD me just used for XP drivers and they worked very well. There are a lot of vista drivers now available for this model, although I am having trouble with the value added package to allow me to use the function keys and access keys.

Apart from that, I had no other problems!

Good luck... Let me know if value-added package that works for you, seems to be working for some but not for others.

  • Re: How to create a partition for instant recovery on Satellite A100 PSAA9E

.. .This can be a difficult issue but I wil give it a shot...

    I have a Toshiba Satellite A100 PSAA9E and a defined recovery disk.
In the recovery for the operating system (win xp MCE) disk there are two iso: PEbase.iso and the HDbase.iso.
After some snooping in the Northeast, I discovered what an enivorment of preinstallation and installation (sysprep) prepared.

Now I wonder if it can be so simple place the image .tpa from the recovery disk in partition and install it whit a pe that works directly from this partition.

The only real obstacle is that there is some .inf and .sif PES statically to the installation partition, which can be useful to know what has changed from the original version of xp MCE.

I know that the question is not easy but I hope that in the expertise of the admins

    Hello

    > Now I m wondering if it can be so simple place the image .tpa of recovery in a disk partition and install it whit a pe that works directly from this partition.

I doubt that it will work to be honest, I've never tested so I can't say exactly if it will work or not but in my opinion it is not possible

New laptop model are equipped in HARD drive recovery option, but this recovery works completely different. There is an additional menu that allows to start the HDD recovery procedure.

Your laptop supports the recovery disk and that disk must be used to retrieve the laptop.

By the way; I have a Norton Ghost utility. I create my own image using this tool and placed it on the second partition. If something goes wrong with my OS I can restore the entire system using the shadow and the filename of the image to the other partition.

    Good bye

  • Satellite A100 PSAA9A - can read DVD BUT not CD with Windows XP

I use a satellite A100 PSAA9A computer laptop and I started having trouble with the CD/DVD drive. It was working fine until yesterday when he decided not read no matter what CD I get the message asking me to insert a disc, when there is a CD in the drive. It still reads DVD good.
I don't know if he has anything to do with the download of the updates of Windows XP because the troubl seems to start after I did.
Is there somewhere in the creation for the player who controls this? Also when I run the troubleshooting test it always ignores the test of this drive.
    I'd appreciate any help.
    See you soon

Optical drives, DVDS, has some different faces to work with CD and DVD, but objective and optics are the same. He had arrived, when in one two heads become a dust or something else. I thing that you must visit the Service and your disk cleanup. But do not use a cleaning disc!
PS. Windows updates, as and OS, are not issues.
Make sure it's easy - attempt to start bootCD (not BootDVD) with anyone by pressing F12 at startup. If the running machine - it's Windows, if not - DVD player.
    See you soon
