Satellite A100 - starts Windows

Without changing anything, my Satellite A100 starts Windows.

A screen with Windows foutherstel (failure recovery) gives two options; Start windows normally and start recovery. When I push the first option, there is a quick blue screen, which disappears too quickly to read the music. Finally the resumption of failure screen comes back. in the alternative, there is a system that is said; Recovery Options screen It cannot start the program installated. Click Ok to shut down the computer.

How can I solve this problem?

Hi hans_3,

Maybe something has confused the Windows registry or some important system files and thus, you can t more to start Windows or start the system repair option.

I think in this case it of necessary to reinstall Windows. Therefore, you can take the Toshiba recovery disc that brings your computer back settings factor o where all the drivers and tools are already installed but it erases the entire HARD disk.
It only takes a few minutes and needs just a few clicks.

Good luck! :)

    Hello

Can someone help me with the following problem. With regard to a Toshiba Satellite A100-207 with windows XP media edition

When starting the laptop hangs with error * \windows\system32\config\system is corrupt *.

This article is the closest to the problem http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545. but the warning in the article on the point is not to use with circumspect OEM on more facilities of he made me.

I have lost the disc of recovery (recently).
But were able to boot the laptop from USB using a cutter (lite) version of windows.

The scene in the article copy c:\windows\repair\system c:\windows\system32\config\system fails because the file does not exist (the other files do however).

In this folder there is a system.bak, this would solve the problems like the laptop boots windows logo screen then after 5 minutes restarts and just go around and around a certain extent.

There is also a file system.sav in the folder windows\system32\config using this all goes someway to to solve the problem, the laptop restarts and resumes product set-up with off course fails has so I don't have the recovery disk.

I would be grateful if someone could help with the problem

    Regards Garry

    > but the warning in the article on the point is not to use with circumspect OEM on more facilities of he made me.

You can ignore this warning, you have no other choice than to try to fix this system following the article in the Microsoft Knowledge base.

But to be honest, I doubt that the system would run smoothly after this work around.

I would recommend the new installation of the OS.
If you don t have a Toshiba Recovery disk, you can use a Microsoft Disk to reinstall the system. Essential drivers are available Toshiba driver Web site.

  • Satellite A100: Use Windows to configure my wireless

I created my Satellite A100 to connect wireless. It connects when I start sometimes and other times, I have to go to control panel and change the properties by placing a check mark in the "use Windows to configure my wireless"-it connects then immediately.

Problem is that he doesn't remember this setting and 8 times out of 10. I have to go a place the tick in the box when I start. Also after hibernation, the network no reconnect and use windows to configure option is not checked but greyed out.

Anyone has any ideas how I can make the tick in the box to default setting?

    Hello

I never heard this issue before.
Have you used an especial as Utility Intel ProSet utility to configure the WiFi connection?
As far as I know on some computers the Intel ProSet utility portable Satellite A100 was preinstalled. You should find it in the assistance of Toshiba.
I guess that this utility share rights of WLan connection. It is perhaps a reason for that matter.

  • Satellite A100-709 - Windows XP Pro lost key

    Hello

I formatted my machine today and re-installed the same operating system (Windows XP Pro), but did not notice that my key of windows on the back of my Satellite A100-709 has been torn. :(

So now I have a machine with an inactive license.
No idea how I can get it back, should I talk to Toshiba/Windows to do knowing that they might have in their books of b?

    Hello to omak

Problem s that this key at the bottom isn't for the activation of the OS and this is the license for the original Windows Toshiba version offers with this laptop.

If you are using clean install of Windows XP Home edition, you must use the key to legal license for this version.
You have original Toshiba recovery DVD that you got with your laptop?

  • Satellite A100 - low Windows Vista performance index

    Hey there,

I bought a Toshiba Satellite A100 just for more than a year now with Vista Home Premium. I recently formatted the laptop and installed Vista Business. When I got Home Premium, my 'Windows experience index' (found in Control Panel > system) has been a 3.0 for the graphics. Under Business, is however now that 1.0. I guess that it has not detected the graphics hardware on my laptop.

    How do it detects hardware?

    > I guess that it has not detected the graphics hardware on my laptop.

I put t know what do you say that it has not detected the graphic material, but you should definitely check out if the graphic and other driver drivers Toshiba have been installed on your laptop properly.

In addition, the Windows Vista experience index can change and can go down if more programs are installed on the system.
I noticed that my Windows Vista performance index decreases every time if a 3rd party application has been installed and then removed from the system.

In my opinion, Windows Vista index experience might be less because you have installed a newer version of the Vista operating system which contains functions of Vista more and so would need of more resources.

  • Satellite A100 - c:\windows\system32\drivers\sptd.sys blue screen error

    Hello

Hoping someone can help with this.

I have a Toshiba A100 with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.

When I try to start my computer, I get a message saying that windows did not start successfully.
I gives me the options of:
    Safe mode
    Safe mode with networking
    Safe mode with command prompt
    Last good known Configuration
    Start Windows normally

None of these options works. When I try Safe Mode, I get the following message:

    multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition\Windows\system32. .. .etc

This message is repeated over and over again very fast, each time with a different .sys file at the end. Then I get this message:

Press ESC to stop loading c:\windows\system32\drivers\sptd.sys...
If I press ESC, I get the following blue screen:

A problem has been detected and Windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
The problem seems to be caused by the following file: c:\windows\system32\drivers\sptd.sys
The driver mistakenly marked a part of his image pagable instead of nonpagable.

I don't know what except using the product recovery CD and fitness in shape, but I can't afford to lose some of the data on my computer, and this would erase everything.

Has anyone had experience with this? Any advice?

    It would be much appreciated.

    Hello

Seems the OS or the partition where the operating system has been installed, is corrupted.
I don't know why this happened, but there are different reasons for this

In any case, I think that you have no choice as to reinstall the OS using the recovery disk.

You want to get access to the data on the HARD drive?
Well, you could remove the laptop HARD drive and it could connect as an external USB device to another computer. Then, you should try to copy the data to another HARD disk.

    Hey Hadisch

What wrong with you? You can find the drivers in 2 minutes, but what do you ask this simple question here and wait. It must be more comfortable. Am I right about that?

So let's ' s logically do: If you have a model of cell US drivers are available on US support page. For a European model to support European page but if you have a Canadian model laptop please visit Toshiba Canada support page and try to find your laptop model and all the drivers available for Windows XP Home edition.

So either search only or we say what country you purchased your laptop.

Same thing with the PCMCIA card.
On windows xp, it worked great!

  • Satellite A100 PSAA5A Windows does not recognize ethernet controller

    Hello

    I'm having a problem with a PSAA5A-01H00T A100 running Win XP sp2.
Windows does not recognize an ethernet controller, so the wireless NETWORK card does not work, even if the wired connection is.
I tried to install the latest WLAN drivers on the support site (two of them), does not. Windows insists that the correct drivers are not installed.

I suspect a hardware problem and I have the user on an external wireless NETWORK card, but I would appreciate any idea that you guys can provide.

    Thank you.

    Hi mate

What Ethernet controller is not recognized? WLan or LAN?
You have a few unknown devices in Device Manager?
If so, then a critical driver is missing, and so the controller is not recognized correctly.

You n t know what LAN or Wlan chip you have and what driver is needed?
    Check this box:

How to identify an unknown device (e.g. LAN wireless module)?

On my Toshiba A100-920, it is possible to operate the disk partition, using the existing disk manager function. All applications and data are placed in a single space (100 GB)! that's really a nonsense!

    Hello

why Don t you use "Partition Magic"? With this program, you can do almost every partition on your hard drive. It s a great program and it shouldn´t be absent in your software collection.

I suggest you to get the latest version of this program, it s really useful.

  • Satellite A100: Windows won't start no-Unmountable Boot Volume

My son has a Satellite A100 under Windows XP SP3. Windows is not going beyond the Windows logo screen and ends with a Unmoutable Boot Volume + message.

After what has happened, the status of the disk in the BIOS password is + HDD password frozen +. Note that the HARD drive does not have a user defined password.

What is happening here and how is it fixed?

Can you start laptop in safe mode with F8?
The HARD drive password is strange to me.

In this situation what you can try is to start the repair console in the Windows XP installation disc and try to fix it. Problem is that Toshiba computers laptops come with recovery discs only.
Try to get the installation of Microsoft WXP disc and try with this repair option.

  • Occasional hang up IE and hibernation on Satellite A100

    Hello
I have a Satellite A100 with Windows Vista. It works fine, but I have two problems:

-Sometimes Internet Explorer crashes upward, often the whole system "freeze".

-The system does not properly recover after hibernation. It seems to revive activity, but then the splash screen, showing the Toshiba logo appears, like when to turn on the computer.
Then a blue screen displays a quick message, report an error or a problem (sorry, the text flows and disappears too fast for me to read) and I get a message asking if I want to solve the problem that led to an abnormal termination upward by booting in safe mode or start Windows normally.

Can anyone help? I'd appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

    PS apologies for my English...)

    Hello

just a few suggestions, maybe not all the resolution but useful:

    Regarding your problem of IE
    1. perform all updates, you can get (windows, 3rd party software, etc...)
    2. install an anti-virus program if it isn't already (a good is Avira anti-virus and it s * tadaaaa * Freee!)
    3. use Mozilla Firefox instead of M$-IE, it s faster, not so buggy and there are a LOT of free plugins for him :)

What about your sleep problem extended:

    1. update your bios to the latest version available.
    2. to read the blue screen, do the following:

Make a right click on 'My Computer', then left click the "Advanced" tab, and then click settings in the 'Startup and recovery' section, then uncheck the "Automatically restart" under "System failure" and now able to read you´re today described the BSOD (Blue screen of Dea *)

That s all I can tell you

    Welcome them
