Finally, I reinstalled the 32-bit version of Windows Vista from the recovery of the product back up drive after I lost all my data, guess what the problem has not disappeared. So point is should I try to reinstall the operating system once more, or should I be given the laptop to a service center to check any malfunction of the equipment.

  Although Microsoft does not provide a feedback about which codecs you need, you'll probably want to install a free app called MediaInfo that will analyze the file you are trying to play and to determine what exact codec you need to play the file. I walk through the process of fix codec errors in this tutorial on MediaInfo.

  If it's an OGG file as you indicate, the best thing to do is to play any other application, but Windows Media Player, new support for the codec for OGG in WMP is ugly, but I would check double what you need first.
