Satellite A200 PSAFCA-01H00J upgraded to 4 GB of RAM but can see only 3 GB

Hello

* UPGRADE RAM PROBLEMS *.

I just upgraded my laptop from 2 GB to 4 GB of RAM, * but cannot access the 3 GB *.
I checked all the documents, and he indicates that the laptop should be expandable to 4 GB of RAM.

Oddly enough, the site of [mytoshiba.com.au | http://mytoshiba.com.au] does not list my exact model under "abandoned" (as if it never existed!). Although there are a number of similar models according to [http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/web/resource/pdf/discontinued-models/notebooks/satellite/satellite_a200_psafca-01k00j.pdf]

_OTHER WINDOWS7 64 BIT PROBLEMS_

I also added a larger HARD drive (the original HARD drive wasn't @ ~ 19 months-) as well as a fresh install of Win7 Ultimate (64-bit).

I have the Toshiba site and updated 64-bit drivers as much as possible, including the BIOS to Mw10M520.ROM using winphlash64 downloaded on the net, the included winphlash (32 bit) of toshiba did not work as I have already installed Win7 (64).

Incidentally, I always have problems with "Toshiba Password Utility monitoring" and the software "Driver Bluetooth software" provided by Toshiba to [http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/notebooks/satellite/a200/psafca-01h00j/download] - in the absence of "* Win7 64 * ' drivers I used the ' * Vista 64 *" drivers. Is this a problem?

According to my system info:
My Chipset is * chipsets Intel® 945 Express Chipset Family *.
My CPU is * Intel(R) Core (TM) 2 CPU T7400 @ 2.16 GHz 2.16Ghz*
Installed memory is * 4.00 GB (3.00 GB usable) *.
System type is * 64-bit OS *.

What Miss me here people? Help please :|

Hi mate

Please check this page of specification Intel chipsets Intel® 945 Express Chipset Support function
http://www.Intel.com/assets/PDF/datasheet/309219.PDF

+ _1.4.2 system memory account Support_
+ Takes in charge single-channel DDR2 SDRAM only.
+ Memory maximum support 2 GB +.
+ Channel memory Topologies taken in charge: +.
+ Single channel with 1 single SO-DIMM (up to 1 GB) +.
+ Single channel with 1 SO-DIMM (up to 1 GB) and down (up to 1 GB) of memory.
+ Support for DDR2 400 MHz and 533 MHz +.

As you can see, the Chipset Mobile Intel 945 Express charge max 2 GB of RAM. This means that 4 GB of RAM would not be taken in charge and this is perhaps the reason why only 3 GB of RAM are visible

  • Satellite A200-1hv - 4 GB of RAM but system see only 3.1 GB

    Hello

I have the problem. recently, I bought 4 GB of RAM for my Satellite A200-1hv but system see only 3.1 GB.
And yes I have tested also on 64-bit vista 64 and Linux 64 systems. In both cases, it shows only 3.1 GB.

Also when I boot my laptop on the BIOS POST screen it test only 3.1 GB of RAM memory not 4 GB.
The funny is that when I enter in the BIOS setup, and then in the main settings tab, it shows 4GB.

    Why?
In the specification, it is written that this laptop supports 4 GB of RAM, but it is NOT!

  • Can satellite A200 (PSAFCA) - I upgrade the GPU?

    Hello

I have a Satellite A200. PSAFCA-01K00J. It is the system bought in Australia around mid-2007. There are currently a processor Nvidia GeForce Go 7300 intslalled on the system graphics.

Preliminary investigation which leads me to believe, there are limited options of upgrade for the laptop, but there seems to be a number of anomalies to lead me to think the upgrade may be at hand. For example.

In my user manual, he described my gpu in the following way:

    model lnVidia GeForce Go 7300:
128 MB external VGA DDR2 RAM (depending on the model you have purchased).

The external Word I think fact now refers to the interface type. As some A200 Intel 258 MB marked as integrated Gpu (and I'm the average current integrated without possibility of upgrade). This offers as well the nVidia is not integrated and leads me to believe it's connection MXM and so editable / extensible.

Another thing to back up this idea is software Nvidia located in the control panel includes a section on system information and she calls the PCI express X 16 bus. If I'm not mistaken refers to a normal PCIe - certainly editable location. However being a laptop they might have it Mobile and so Mobile PCI Express Module and I'm back to MXM with ability to upgrade.

This is confirmed if he please, and are there toshiba fans that could lead me to a card apropriate - perhaps off the coast of the Nvidia tray or even a chance for a toshiba laptop later. at least 256 MB or better 512.

I have ike using this laptop, never had a problem. just be to hang out, and given that I would not buy a new car every time that I ran out of gas, I don't want to buy a new computer, when I am more then happy with the one I have for all other functions.

    Thank you

    Hello!

In my opinion it's not possible to change the graphics card. As far as I know the graphics chip is soldered on the motherboard.

In addition, if the graphics card would be exchangeable I think than the motherboard or BIOS will not support the new graphics card. The point is that laptops are not favourable so upgrade as a desktop PC.

  • Satellite A200 (PSAFCA) does not work after BIOS update triying

    Hello

I was hoping if someone could help me pls.

    I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 (PSAFCA).
Recently, I tried the bios update and while I flashed the bios I forgot to plug the laptop into the current and the battery was flat at half way through the flashing.

Thus the laptop now won't post when I turn on and all I get is a white screen.
I was wondering if someone could pls advise me on how I can get the old bios back or even a method of flashing it if I put the bios back in so I can at least get a message to display on the screen.

Any help that you provide would be greatly appreciated as I am at a loss.

    Thanking you in advance

    > while I flashed the bios I forgot to plug the laptop into the current and the battery flat at half way through the flashing.

Well buddy, the cell must always be connected to the mains during the execution of an update of the BIOS! This is very important!
Now it looks like the update of BIOS didn't t run and finish correctly and the ROM module seems to be flashed incorrectly.

Unfortunately, there is no other solution to communicate with ASP guys and ask for help! They should be able to help you.

But note; in the worst cases, the ROM module is unfortunate and the motherboard needs to be replaced.

    Good luck

  • Satellite A200 PSAFCA - serial number incorrect installation system tools

    Hello

I have a model of Satellite A200 PSAFCA that I recently reinstalled Vista Ultimate on.

I downloaded all the drivers the most recent & utilities Toshiba NZ (country of purchase), but the following utilities do not settle due a message "invalid serial number":

    * Toshiba Hardware Setup Utility *.
    * Toshiba Flash Cards Support utility *.
    * Speech from Toshiba System *.

    Any suggestions?

    Hello!

A friend of mine has a similar problem with an incorrect serial number message. The reason was the laptop has been maintained before and technicians forgot to put the DMI information. Has returned to the authorized service provider and technicians has defined the right DMI information. After this no problems!

For the Satellite A200 PSAFCA you can find all the drivers and tools the Australian Toshiba site:

  • Satellite A200-1CR does not recognize the module of RAM 2 GB

    Hello

I have a problem with the extension of the RAM.
    I have the Satellite A200-1CR with 2 x 512 MB of RAM.

    Now, I bought 1 x 2 GB RAM (DDR2 PC2-5300 (667 MHz); PA3513S-1M2G) but the BIOS and Windows recognizes only 1 GB.
When I add 1x512mo to the second slot, the system recognizes 1.5 GB of RAM.
    Where is the problem?

What should I do to make it see 2 GB?

    Paula

    Hello

I think the answer is very simple.
Satellite A200-1CR can be upgraded up to 2 GB of RAM.
This means that you can use max 1 GB of RAM in one slot
You used 2 GB of RAM and this module does not seem to be compatible
In my opinion if you want to use 2 GB of RAM then you can buy 2 x 1 GB RAM modules

    Welcome them

  • Satellite A200 PSAFCA does NOT start

    Here's the story.

I got this laptop Australian (A200 PSAFCA) that came with Vista, but like everyone else I can't stand Vista so I removed it.
Tried to install XP and to my surprise XP installation has actually detected the hard drive and it reformatted no problem.
Then starts copying files and the premiere it reboot restarts very well and then it crashes on start "TOSHIBA" logo screen then restarts automatically and goes on and on...

There is not much I can do in the BIOS, and yes it detects the HARD drive in there.

I'm so bored and even tried to install Vista on the lappy and omg... it won't detect the hard drive even for the installation program.

WHATS WITH THAT! This is the first laptop I ever tried to format and I never thought it will be ridiculously difficult.
Can anyone shed light on what I might try? I'm out of ideas.

P.s anyone knows if re-formatting computers laptop Toshiba is out of scope of the warranty?
    Thank you guys.

    Hello

I had similar problem with my Satellite A200. Enter the BIOS settings and the default value. Reboot the laptop and again use the CD of Windows XP Home edition installations.

  • Satellite A200 PSAFCA - Display went - hear 3 beeps at startup

    Hello

    I have Toshiba A200 PSAFCA-01K00J.
Last night, I restarted the laptop and screen did not appear.
Sometimes (not everytime) at the start, I can hear 3 beeps (1 very very short and 2 short beeps).
And then the Windows operating system loads correctly. Can hear sound/music that plays Windows at startup.

Have you tried 1 of 2 from memory, but always the same result. Tried to hook up the external monitor, but the monitor says "No Signal".

Need to know what the problem is with the laptop. Please help/tips.

    Thank you.

    > Have tried 1 2 memory, but always the same result. Tried to hook up the external monitor, but the monitor says "No Signal".

Maybe you should try FN + F5
This key combination switches the screen external monitor output.

But to be honest, this looks like a display problem.
I recommend you contact the ASP in your country who would check the display

  • Satellite A200 HDD player upgrade

    Hello

My Satellite A200-1AB has a GB MK8037GSX hard drive.
It is in working condition, but I would like to replace it with a disc of larger capacity, say 500 GB.

Can someone tell me if this would be simple, for example a new SATA 2.5 "would be compatible?

I have the recovery CD product of Windows Vista Home Premium that came with the machine and assume that I can swap drives and reinstall from the CD.

    Thank you

    Hello

SATA controller is not limited to a specific size of the HARD drive, so it shouldn't be big problem with bigger hard drives like 500 GB.
It is important that you would use SATA 2.5 HDD

    > I have the recovery CD product of Windows Vista Home Premium that came with the machine and guess I can swap the drives and reinstall from the CD.

    Exactly

  • Satellite A200-1CR: I'd like to expand my RAM to 2 GB or 3 GB memory

    Hello.

I have toshiba satellite a200-1cr. I'd like to expand my ram up to 2 or maybe 3 GB.

Can anyone tell me what kind of ram I should buy, type, etc...?
    Also I don't know if I have 2 x 512 MB or 1 GB.

I have a free slot or I have to remove one of my 512 ram?

    Thank you
PS: I can't find my model in the toshiba Web site more... (model. psae0e No.)

After a long investigation and after visiting various websites I found the info that this laptop was equipped with 2 x 512 MB DDR2 (667 MHz) modules

So if you want to upgrade the RAM you can use 512 MB, 1 GB, or 2 GB modules.

  • Is Satellite A200 - 1 GB (PSAE6E) supports 4 GB of RAM

I have a toshiba Satellite A200 - 1 GB and I want to put 4 GB of RAM on it.
It came with 2 GB of RAM pc2-5300.

Is it supports RAM pc2-6400 memory modules?

    Concerning

    I agree with tony;
Each 32 bit OS, no matter if it s Vista or XP will manage 3.2 GB RAM max.
This occurs due to the limitation of the 32 bit OS.

So perhaps it would be better to update the laptop up to 3 GB (1 x 1 GB + 1 x 2 GB)

You must also use the DDR2 667 MHz (PC2-5300) 200 - PIN SODIMM

According to this specification, the laptop can handle up to 4 GB of RAM:

    "Memory system: standard: 2 048 (1, 024 + 1, 024) MB, maximum of extension: 4 096 Mo, technology: DDR2 (533 MHz) RAM.

I just upgraded using 2 x Corsair 2 GB of RAM Sodimm DDR2 667 MHz/PC2-5300. I understand that Vista 32 bit may not report all 4 GB of RAM (it is not, only 3 GB reports), but I understand that Vista Service Pack 1 can solve the problem.

However... confusedly BIOS ALSO notes that 3 GB of RAM. Does anyone know why the BIOS is not seen all the 4 GB? I tried to read about it online, and some advocate a BIOS update. However, many people also say it would be extremely risky.

Can someone give me some ideas as to what I can do to the BIOS then it recognizes all the 4 GB of RAM?

    Thank you very much!

You're not 100% good. The 32-bit Windows OS cannot use the entire 4 GB due to the limitation of the 32-bit operating system. After the installation of Vista SP1 will display full 4GB but it will still use only 3 GB.
To use all of the 4 GB, different components like CPU, BIOS, OS and chipset must support this. If one of these doesn't support 4GB while the laptop components will use only 3 GB.

    Update the BIOS

People are right. The update of the BIOS must help to recognize the 4 GB in the BIOS.
But it s also good that the update of the BIOS is risky.
If you want to use a bad BIOS or bad procedure to update the BIOS that can damage the ROM. module

    Good bye

Is there anyone who can help me and solve this problem, I'm just 100% satisfied with my A200 but it buggs me that is missing 750MO I SEAP for.

    Hey Buddy

For several years he s already known that the Windows 32 bit doesn t recognize all of the 4 GB due to the limitation of the 32 bit OS.
I think you should visit the Microsoft good, old for details ;)

  • Touchpad no longer works on Satellite A200 after Vista upgrade

Does anyone know why the touchpad stopped working - it happened after an upgrade of Windows Vista Edition family.
External USB mouse is ok, but the touchpad is not responding.

Any help would be great. Thank you

Maybe don t answer touchpad drivers and are muddled up.
Remove the touchpad of the system driver and reinstall it again.

The touchpad drivers are available on the European driver Toshiba page.

    Reinstall it and try again!

PS: You should first check if the touchpad is not disabled!
