Upgraded Satellite Pro A200 - 4 GB of Ram, but I have only 3 GB

I have a satellite Pro A200 and I uppgraded from 2 to 4 GB of Ram.
It was not a problem as long as I have didn't ' tt start Windows Vista.

In the back when the memory is counting upp there are 4 GB (40XX something) but when I loggen into victory. There is only 3 GB left.

Whence my A200 Sat stuck the other 1 GB?
I have now that the graphics card takes upp to 250 MB, but there are still some 750 GB is not there?

Is there anyone who can help me and solve this problem, I'm just 100% satisfied with my A200 but it buggs me that is missing 750MO I SEAP for.

Hey Buddy

For several years he s already known that the Windows 32 bit doesn t recognize all of the 4 GB due to the limitation of the 32 bit OS.
I think you should visit the Microsoft good, old for details ;)

    Hello
all I have a Satellite A200 - 1 X 1 with 1 GB of ram, I installed an another 1 GB ram that is the same brand: SAMSUNG 1 GB 2Rx8 PS2-5300-555-12-E3, it works fine, but after 10 min the laptop restarts and goes to a blue screen, can help me on this issue.

    Thank you

    One question;
This question seemed before that you have installed the second module of RAM?

If this isn't the case, then this problem is certainly related to the second module of RAM.
What you could do is to spend both modules of memory in a different memory location.
    Sometimes it helps.

If the BSOD will always appear then you should replace the memory module and need to test another.

  • Satellite Pro A200-MV - passes resolution to 1024 x 768 only

I have a problem with my screen resolution.
Usually, my laptop resolution is 1200 X 800.

It is now changing only up to 1024 X 768. Sometimes, its original resolution changes.
Can anyone tell how to cure it.

    Hello

What is 1024 x 768 resolution changes automatically?
    Sometimes when starting the laptop?
Do you use the preinstalled Toshiba image?

Sorry, but it of not very clear to me how what happens

    But I have a few tips;
First of all, you need to update the graphics driver and it would be wise to check the current BIOS on your laptop.
If a newer BIOS is available on the Toshiba page then try to update also.

  • Satellite Pro A200: XP + Vista possible installed dual boot?

    Hello

I don't know if I'm here the XP OS but I post because it is OS related.

My Satellite Pro A200 (PSAE7) works well with XP but I want to create a sandbox (partition) for/with Vista.

Basically, I know that it is possible to run XP and Vista on a system. * Goal *, computers laptops satellite Pro A200 are delivered with a BIOS for XP and Vista, and with the information you need to install the right pair. For me, this means that you will install the BIOS for XP when running BIOS for Vista and XP in Vista.

    Question:
Is it possible to install Vista on a Satellite Pro A200 with XP as main OS and have installed XP BIOS?
Boot loader would be Acronis OSS like this charger already managing my two XP partitions.

Thank you very much for any information!

    Hello

In my opinion there is no serious reason, why you should t be able to use Xp and Vista on your Satellite Pro A200.

Okay, there's a different BIOS for Vista 64-bit, 32-bit and Win XP, but your Vista should also work using the BIOS for Win XP.

I have other laptops Satellite series and I m able to use XP and Vista at the same time. I mean I have a choice to start Vista or XP ;) and I m still using the old version of the BIOS.
OK some functions are not available as FN keys, but this is not very important for me.

Well, to cut this story, I think you can use Vista and XP without changing the BIOS ;)

  • Satellite Pro A200 - shows only 3 GB instead of 4 GB of RAM

    Hello

2 years ago I had a Satellite Pro A200 as a professional laptop and it works with XP SP2, later with SP3. With 2 GB, it shows 2 GB memory in Windows - and I know it's a Radeon 7500 with 256 MB memory graphics individual, and there is no shared memory.

I upgraded to 4 GB, but Windows shows exactly 3 GB. BIOS shows 4 GB and ATI system monitor shows 4 GB. I know that 4 GB is not possible under XP 32-bit, only on Windows 2003 R2 32 bit or Vista - but on desktop systems, I've seen values between 3.3 and 3.7 GB.

So, where's the memory? It looks like a bug - the chips of memory have two 2 GB I checked this. Because it's a company laptop I can not just switch to 64-bit XP :-(

There's no option in the BIOS - first I thought that it is the graphics card, but mine has independent graphics with own memory so that the computer comes up with MB 2048 or 4096 after the upgrade.

Shared memory would show about 1900 MB of RAM for the operating system as my private EEEpc.

    Hi shadowmaster_1,

    > I know that 4 GB is not possible under XP 32 bit
Then why do you ask this question here if you already know? Moreover, it s not a limitation in XP, it s a material limitation on all 32-bit systems

    > only on Windows 2003 R2 32 bit or Vista
And who says that Windows 2003 or Vista can use 4 GB? Okay, there's an update for Vista where 4 GB correct displayed in system properties, but that doesn't make no difference. Vista 32 bit peut t use all of 4GB, it s only cosmetic improvements! ;)

    > So where is memory?
Memory is installed on your computer, but can t be used complelty with a 32 bit OS.

At the end of the story: If you want to use 4 GB, you need to install a 64 bit OS. On all the 32 bit OS, you can use only upward to ~3.2GB RAM!

  • Satellite Pro A200 - new RAM work together

    Laptop Toshiba Satellite Pro A200-PSAF1A-003002, I bought the year last with RAM 2x512MB that I try to update my 3 GB RAM and I bought 2 RAM KTT667D2 / 1 G & KTT667D2 / 2G Kingston memory.

I added that the 2 strips of RAM in the laptop, but it does not start. The power and the drive lights and flash for 3 times everything off. No boot. But I remove one of the sticks of RAM and it starts very well and the RAM has been upgraded in the system.

I tried with the sticks and the two slots to remove 'bad slot' ideas and a stick of RAM works in a thin slot. Paste works in slot 1 or slot 2 and stick b works in slot 1 or 2, but not both at the same time. Is it simply a setting I'm missing somewhere? I checked the BIOS version is 1.7, I need to update my BIOS? Help, please

    Thank you
    Yana

I think that the modules are not compatible together and that is the reason why each module works in each slot.

Did you buy KTT667D2/1 and KTT667D2 / 2G. Different modules of s and are not working together.
You should buy only the modules with the same specifications and capacity (for example, 2x1GB and 2x2gb).

Have two cell phones of #PSAE1E - 00T002EN Satellite Pro A200 and wanted to know if I can pass the 2 x 1 GB memory 2 x 2 GB?

If I understand correctly what ask you, you want to upgrade memory of 4 GB laptops.

Well, I think that it s is not possible.
The Satellite Pro A200 supports maximum 2 GB of RAM (2 x 1 GB), then you will not be able to use 2 x 2 GB modules.

  • Satellite Pro A200-16N: can I use the recovery CD after upgrade to Vista

    HII!

IM thinking of upgrading to windows vista on my Satellite Pro A200-16N and I ran the pre-upgrade of windows vista from microsoft website and it says that my system will be in charge of windows vista so im ok about it.

The problem is that if my laptop was to break or something like that at some point, will my recovery CD provided by toshiba to work always on the laptop with windows vista?
They will return the laptop for windows xp or from my laptop has another operating system they will not work?

    Also...
    What's the deal with BIOS? : S
    I don't understand!
If I were to upgrade to windows vista should I upgrade my BIOS before or after the upgrade to vista?
As I download the new drivers before upgrading Yes?

    Thank you!

The restore CD will of course work.
The recovery CD will always set the laptop back to the factory settings. This means that the whole HARD drive will be formatted and the image of Toshiba will be installed.

    > What's the deal with BIOS? I put t understand!
    > If I were to upgrade to windows vista should I upgrade my BIOS before or after the upgrade to vista?
To my knowledge, that this laptop was already shipped with Vista, so you need not update the BIOS if you want to reinstall Vista.

Some series Satellite A200 needs a BIOS update if you want to use the XP.
In such cases, it s advisable to upgrade the BIOS to version XP first, then install OS X.

  • Satellite Pro A200 PSAE4E memory upgrade:

Satellite Pro A200-PSAE4E: comes with sticks of memory 2 x 0.5 GB installed.
I think that these are some DDR2?
Please can anyone confirm this and advise the maximum memory I can install as I appreciate different for
models... but I can't find any information for this Satellite Pro A200-PSAE4E:

Yes. Your portable computer is DDR2 RAM module. I don't know about you but I think you can improve it up to 4 GB. You can for example use a 2 GB RAM and level to 2.5 GB.
Compatible RAM 2 GB module is with the PA3513U-1M2G part number.

  • Satellite Pro A200 - does not start with 4 GB of RAM

    Hello

I installed 2 x 2 GB, but it seems that it does not work. The funniest is that when current to run just a bunch of memory (2 GB so) it works, when you run both, it does not work and it freezes. This is the Samsung 2 GB 2Rx8 PC2 - 6400 s - 666 - 12 - E3

Ive' installed the BIOS (64 bit v2.60) was last updated for the Satellite Pro A200 and I am running Windows 7 64 bit

    Hi caribman

What Satellite Pro A200 you have exactly?

I ask this question because some A200 models were equipped with chipsets 943GML and these models support 2 GB only!

  • Can I go by Satellite Pro A200-1YK?

    Hello

I have the Satellite Pro A200-1YK with the following features
    1 Intel® Pentium® Dual - Core T2330 1.6 GHz processor
    2 2048 (1024 + 1024) MB of RAM DDR2 (667 MHz)
    3. 200 GB hard drive

Can I upgrade the RAM to 4 GB (2048 + 2048)? If so, should it be DDR2 or DDR3?

I have my hard drive can too? If so, the system will support 500 GB of hard drive? If so, what would be the model/product that you recommend?

With change of RAM, I have to update the drivers? If so, what are they?

    Hey,.

The two components, you can upgrade: RAM and HARD drive.

    Upgrade of RAM:
According to the specifications of the Satellite Pro A200 1YK it uses an Intel GL960 Express Chipset. This means it supports up to 2 GB of RAM and so an upgrade is not possible because you already have 2GB.
Here are the specifications of your chipset:
    http://Ark.Intel.com/chipset.aspx?FamilyId=26558

    Update HARD drive:
I think that on the upgrade of the disk HARD, there is no capacity limit because your laptop already supports SATA interface.
So I guess that 500 GB should be no problem. You need a portable 2.5 HARD drive with SATA interface and that s all! :)

  • Satellite Pro A200-1JV memory expansion

    Hello

The specification for my Satellite Pro A200 1JV said:-

    standard: 512 MB
    maximum scalability: 2 048 MB
    technology: DDR2 RAM (667 MHz)

    2 x memory slots (1 to configure)

I inserted two 1024 memory cards but when the machine starts it only sees one of the cards.

I guess I need to "set up" the second memory location, but does not know how to do that.

    Any help gratefully received

As much as I know, that you should not configure anything. All you need to do is use the compatible RAM module of high quality.

Which module of memory you use for the upgrade of RAM (manufacturer)?

  • Satellite Pro A200 (PSAF4A) - update CPU and chipset

    Hello

    I have a Satellite Pro A200 (PSAF4A) with a processor Intel Celeron M 540 (1.86 GHz) and a Mobile Intel (r) 965 Express Chipset Family.
I upgraded the RAM, but it's just not enough performance for me as its limited to 2 GB.
I know that Toshiba will not admit it, but I've heard people have updated this type of processor before. I can't afford a new laptop altogether but will settle for upgrades I get.

    My questions are;

Are there companies in New Zealand that can upgrade my processor and/or my Chipset?

I also noticed that space to the second HDD has no media or in any case to add another HARD disk, is it because of my laptop or is it a manufacturing defect?

Are there also companies who can add these mounts to my board so I can have a second HDD?

First, the chipset is not extensible. It s soldered onto the motherboard and can't be exchanged. In addition, on the CPU upgrade, you should read this article that I founded in the area of the FAQ:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB9401AX0001R01.htm
The point is that the new processor must be supported from the motherboard, BIOS and chipset and it is not so easy.

Install a second HDD is not a problem if you have a second connector to HARD drive (I know SATA) in the second HARD drive Bay. I think some of the Satellite Pro A200 models were fitted with a second HDD and some other laptops are not. So if you have the connector in the Bay, you can install an additional HARD drive.

  • Where to find info on the Satellite Pro A200 PSAF0A

I have an A200 Satellite (Pro), number PSAF0A - 03M 019 and so far have NOT had the chance to get the info on the site of Toshiba on this machine, it seems lost as Toshiba is concerned.

When you use the menu support it rejects serial number or part of the bottom of the machine and there is NO option for the part number in the drop-down list.

I don't have drivers that I've sorted myself but, I would like to know what BIOS version it is supposed to take, he had originally version 1.20 but my client upgraded to 5.20 and there is no setting in the BIOS to enable the AHCI.

All I want to do is find some info on this machine, but I didn't do anything but run into dead ends with so-called support Toshiba. Any help I can get would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hello

    > I don't need drivers, I sorted it myself, but I would like to know what BIOS version it is supposed to take.

The newest BIOS is on the page of the Toshiba driver so take a look here
But no one version of BIOS for Satellite Pro A200 or other A200 series contain the AHCI / compatible mode.
The controller is still on AHCI. This can be on that other series laptop.
