Satellite A200-WOO overheating - hight temp

Hello

I bought my computer in Australia. A model Toshiba A200 WOO, 2.2 GHz, 2 GB Ram and Core Duo and for the last few months, I noticed the laptop gets very hot. At some point, I put on low power when it's plugged in because it overheating randomly and just stops.

But even at low power, the temperature will be about 85 degrees. Now, as I it comes have type that my hands are very hot to rest on the laptop and the touchpad is is as a heating unit. The fan never sleeps and I use the fan speed to monitor the temperature and the temperature is currently on Core 0 93 and 94 degrees on Core 2 and Im only running Mozilla Firefox, Notepad, Speedfan, and Windows Media Player.

I read that the radiator is probably dust in there but my warranty is valid till if I really don't want to invalidate opening upward... I'M not sure if that is the cause, or is this something else. I always keep my own machine and its always in my room or in its coverage I don't see how he could collect the dust so. When I start a game after about 10 minutes, it gets really hot and turns off. When I feel the underside it literally burns and stickers are peeling.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Thank you

Hi Mezzi

Yes, the clogged cooling fans and bad air circulation could cause this high temperature and could lead to a point where the laptop would be closed automatically to prevent the equipment from damage.

You should also know that all internal devices would go with optimal performance while playing a game and because of the dissipation of heat, the temperature would arise at a critical level.

Therefore, it is really important to make sure that the vents are free and not blocked by dust and other objects...

Anyway, you said that your warranty is still valid, and that's why I strongly recommend contacting ASP (certified partner) guys in your country and explain your mobile number.
I'm sure that the technician can help you!

Good luck and best wishes mate.

    Hello

The drivers of Toshiba laptops are a bit different and not the same thing as the drivers from the manufacturer of the graphics card.
The original ATI drivers are made for office use and not for mobile use. Drivers Toshiba takes supported thermal protection that allows to control the performance of gpu and the dissipation of the heat.
If you want to use a page ATI driver then your GPU could create more heat as usual which leads to the unexpected shutdown.

I installed Win 7 on my A210. I didn't install the driver of ATI graphics card because the Win 7 automatically recognizes the graphics chip.

I ve got a Satellite A200 - 1C0 PSAE0E and since one month, it stops due to overheating (hybridized with hot CPU). The fact is that when I restart the computer to the BIOS screen, fan of the processor begins to work at a very high speed (to cool the CPU), but to start Windows to start the fan suddenly stops, and the fact is that the CPU is always at 78 degrees celsius.

I tried updating the BIOS, reinstall windows recovery partition and all components, but it does not solve anything. Also tried to install Windows 7 and still nothing and windows Xp and still nothing. I Don t know what else to do. Help will be apreciated.

  • Satellite A200 - 19K - overheating/fan does not work

These 2-3 days, my Satellite A200 - 19 k (PSAECE) was himself cut and was not very hot. I installed SpeedFan, but it does detect any fans. In addition, the fan on the base of the machine is not working. Anyone has any ideas for a solution?

    Any help is much apprieciated.
    Thank you

    Hello

In this case there is not one any magic solution. Overheating is a very serious problem for me. I see two possibilities here: either is dirty cooling grill and the laptop cannot be cooled correctly or there is a mechanical problem with cooling fan.

If you really think that cooling fan is not working properly please contact the authorized Service partner as soon as possible. I imagine that the laptop has guaranteed valid and if the cooling fan is defective it will be exchanged free of charge.

This is serious problem and please, do not try to do some experiments, but be sure that the hardware of the laptop is not defective.

  • Satellite A200 - is something overheating?

    Hello

I use Vista on an A200-TH7

About a week, the fan on my Satellite A200 started to turn very hard, and Windows to hang on a minute later. I cleaned the radiator and the fan, but the problem was still there, so I decided to restore the laptop to factory settings, but that didn't help either. However after update my Intel chipset drivers, the laptop ran fine for about a day, but today the fan has started to act up again. It's much better that before, since Windows does not crash, but the noisy fan always worry. Is something overheating?

    I put the laptop to sleep for 5 minutes after the fan started to turn very hard, and he was fine after I took over, which leads me to think its overheating, but I can't be sure. CPU usage was<10%, and="" speedfan="" said="" the="" cpu="" temperatures="" were="" around="" 52c="" (it's="" usally="" around="" 46c="" when="" i'm="" idle="" or="" browsing).="" i'm="" also="" using="" a="" laptop="">

Any help would be appreciated ~

    Hello

This strange s boyfriend but maybe the fan is broken and doesn't work correctly. Perhaps, it must be replaced.

In addition, I think that the thermal grease should be renewed between the heatsink and the CPU. This brings a cooling performance too.

In my opinion the best way would be if you ask a technician for help laptop. They can check the materials and renew the thermal grease.

  • Satellite A200 - overheating all the time

    Hi y ' All

I have a satellite A200 laptop computer that keeps overheating all the time.
I tried to do the thing of compressed air and she always does.
    Especially when am games online.
I've had this laptop for about a year now, and it already has an accident and burn on me and everything lost hard disk.
But this overheating is really annoying me.
I still have the clear fan so that it still works ok.
And there is no dust or dirt there either.
Can someone tell me what could be the problem?
And also I would like to know how I can format it so, it doesn't let me do.

Any suggestions would be appreciated muchly

    See you soon

    Wolfette.

Do you use the certified Toshiba graphics card driver?
You should do this in order to ensure that the graphics card would not overheat.
The driver of Toshiba GPU supports protection against overheating and control the dissipation of the heat created by the graphics chip.

But if you already use the Toshiba drivers, then the problem could be more complicated.
In this case, the laptop must be verified by technician ASP.

Maybe the thermal grease that is placed between the CPU and the GPU must be renewed.
At the time the thermal fold becomes dry and rough and cannot conduct heat well.

    In many cases, it helps.

Last but not least, you must use the Toshiba certified graphics card driver because this driver supports protection against overheating and the dissipation of the heat created by the GPU of the controls.
You must also make sure that the laptop is on the table and that there is enough free space around the laptop to ensure good air circulation.

  • Can I use the ATI on my Satellite A200 driver?

    Hello all, dear Toshiba

I want to update the driver for the graphics card ATI Radeon HD 2600 in my Satellite A200-PQ notebook, I'm having some problems with effecs Nik HDR pro Photoshop 4.0.

However the driver I find here, it's 2008, the one I have already.
ATI offers a newer driver but explicitly do not recommend it for Toshiba laptops.

So, can someone tell me if there is no serious problem with the last - or at least one driver more recent-of ATI on my laptop?

    Help is greatly appreciated

    Nissrine

    Hi Libertion

The point is that these ATI drivers don t support protection against overheating.
Drivers Toshiba support GPU overheating protection and control the GPU heat dissipation.

If you want you can install the ATI driver but the use of these drivers is at your own risk.

  • Satellite A200 suddenly stops showing anything on display

    Hello
I have been using Satellite A200 for 2 years and it works very well. Recently, I have problems.
When I use it all of a sudden it stops to show anything on the display but the power to the front lights are still on.

This problem occurs often. If the motherboard is fried or there is overheating. I gave my laptop for repairs and they said that they had repaired the system board and cleaned the fan.
But the problem still occurred. If anyone can help me I will be very grateful.

If the service cannot help I don't know what kind of help you wait here.
That's the big difference to discuss on a topic if you have laptops in front of you, or on this way where we can only imagine what the problem may be.

It's really not easy to say why this happens, but there may be a problem with the display cable.
This happens to you while you work or after display goes OFF mode (set in the power settings)?

  • Satellite A200-1BJ does not start

    Hello

My Satellite A200-1BJ does not start. After turning on the button it starts only for 1 or 2 seconds (flashing light, work from HDD, fan work, display blank) and then it turns off automatically. Once it happened days before but I didn't have the time to solve it and over the next few days, he has not occurred. Now, I tried to launch it more than 20 times and it still won't start.

I tried only with full battery and also only with the power adapter. I removed the HDD, RAM, keyboard, DVD, speakers, display and a few other connector under the keyboard and it still does not start and it shuts down after 1-2 seconds each time.

In recent months he sometimes exploded due to overheating during work so I cleaned the dust inside.

No problem with the motherboard or power?

    Thanks for help.

Hmmm... on this virtual path, it is not easy to say what the problem is. described behavior is the same as in cases when the BIOS is dead after failed BIOS update installation.

Of course, it's mainboard problem but what exactly, it is not easy to say. For me, this looks like faulty BIOS.

Have you installed any updates or anything that may be responsible for this?

  • Satellite A200 - gel sometimes

I have a Satellite A200, purchased Nov 2007. Comes with Vista Home Premium installed. About 2 weeks ago it started to "freeze" or lock up. The hard drive access light went out, and the screen showed the last picture. Nothing has worked. No response from the mouse, keys, no response to CTRL, ALT, DEL. The only thing that worked was 10 seconds on off button. There a few times itself turned off. It is not a problem of overheating, as it froze a few times a few seconds walk fot the first time of the day.

I tried Windows Diagnostics - no problem. Don't run repair Office 2007 - no result. Advanced boot options for ' last known good configeration. Reset the beast to the "recovery of factory default software" then reloaded W2007. Start the reboot system twice. Run the disk check. All to nothing does not.

This 'gel' appears sometimes after a few minutes of walking, and sometimes it will last much longer (last 36 hours) without problem. Has started to freeze this morning again.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    > After I turn on the computer, I go to the F8 menu and scroll to about 1 or 2 minutes. I then save log startup option and voila the computer works fine for hours and hours
You mean that you have started the computer Safe Mode.

Well, if the laptop is running in safe mode, then only some essential drivers and tools are running in the background of the OS.
This means that no driver graphics etc. would be responsible

If your laptop runs correctly in safe mode, then I guess that your mobile phone number is related to a software problem. There may be some drivers or software installed that make certain disorders.

But these symptoms can be related to different reasons
    -The RAM could be faulty
-The internal temperature may affect the RAM or CPU/GPU, etc.
-OS (operating system) could be confused to the top

So to be honest it's always hard to say what could be the reason of this gel

  • Satellite A200 - fan works too

    Hello

I will present my problem briefly to you in the hope that I can find a solution.

I work with recording music. My Satellite A200 can handle the processor high and all the rest. I'm really very happy.

But the fan works just too well even when CPU is not used much. I installed The Ultimate Troubleshooter (excellent software) in order to eliminate unnecessary software or process. My RAM is 73% free, low 0-10% CPU and my fan speed is measured at 47 degrees Celsius. My hard drive is 33 degrees Celsius. Very low.

The boring bit, is that my fan is behaving intermittently, but even when nothing is really happening, and the temperature is still very low. I have another laptop to compare to, which is quiet and peaceful in the other corner of the room and only takes action when I activate several operations at once. I wish my Satellite to behave in a similar way.

I cleaned the fans today, and a lot of dust came out. But still the fan curve. I tried to take control using SpeedFan 4.43, but it does not work. I don't see anywhere in the BIOS how I could control the speed of the fan.

I need to find a solution, ideally one that doesn't involve buying a new fan, or disassemble the computer. Since the temperature is right at all times, I guess it's just the BIOS programming for constant speed activity that must change. Any suggestions? It would be appreciated.

    All the best, Shlomi.

    Hi shlumaan_1,

    > I cleaned the fans today
How did you do that? Did you follow the instructions?
How to clean a Toshiba laptop cooling system?

There are different reasons for activity high fan and dust that blocks the fan, the thermal paste should be renewed, etc..

Fact is that the fan will be controlled automatically to protect the equipment from overheating. What you can do is chancing the cooling method in Windows power management. I put t know what operating system you use but on Vista and Windows 7, open the power management options, change the parameters of the plan, cooling method. You can change between maximum performance and battery optimized. I would recommend setting the optimised battery.

Also, check the BIOS version. If you have an older version, probably thermal management has been changed with a new version of the BIOS. Update the BIOS that you find on the official website of Toshiba.

Finally, and especially if your laptop probably has a few years, that the thermal compound must be renewed. This is why I would contact an authorized service provider that will apply the correct thermal grease and also the laptop must be disassembled. Not so easy

  • Satellite A200 - 1 M 8 - whistle problem

    Hello..

    I have the computer model toshiba laptop: Satellite A200 - 1 m 8

    OS: Win XP SP3

I don't know, but sometimes something in my laptop randomly and suddenly made like noise or whistle, but NOT clicks when your hard drive is going to die.

It's exactly like the sounds to the Hospital of pulsating heart on the machine when he moves to lower the level or milder to strongest level.

I don't know if it's the hard drive, but my hard drive seems in good health and that this thing is happening for a long time.

I'm not too sure if it is the processor, if it becomes overheated or overclocked, but I have not noticed issues freezing while it happened once.

What's the battery when the power level of electricity changes?

    What could be the reason?

    Thank you...

    Hi mate

You should know that the laptop was equipped with parts that could create different noises.
For example, the HARD disk, modules of cooling / cooling fan.

So it's not easy to say what role create these noises.
I'm sure that it s not a CPU or a sign of overheating because in this case the laptop stops down automatically to prevent the equipment from damage.

Maybe it s HARD drive and head disk HARD creates this noise while moving?  :| who knows

But in my opinion you should always create a backup of your files because if it of really a HDD issue there is a risk of damage to the HARD drive.
So save the date if you have some important data on the HARD drive.

It must be said that if you aren't 100% sure, what causes this noise then visit the ASP and the technician could check the hardware

    See you soon

  • Satellite A200 - stop randomly

    Hello

My laptop Toshiba Satellite A200 will stop randomly. First I thought, that the CPU is overheating, but its temperature is 50 degrees (Celsius), and it is good (I also change the fan). But my ATI radeon HD2600 graphics card has 50 degrees too and that's a too high temperature for nothing to do.

Where could be the problem? What is the temperature of my gpu of closing?

    Thank you

Sometimes when I turn on my computer, the temperature of the GPU is only 30 degrees
I have a dualboot XP and Windows 7. When I turn on XP, the computer shuts down when booting, when I turn on Windows 7, it's not stop immediately

    Hey,.

    > First I thought, that the CPU is overheating, but his temperature is 50 degrees (Celsius)
    How to measure the temperature?
As much as I know there is no formal program of Toshiba to check the temperature, and the 3rd party tools can show wrong temperatures.

    > But my ATI radeon HD2600 graphics card has 50 degrees too and that's a too high temperature for nothing to do.
Who said that 50 ° C is too high for the GPU? In my opinion it s normal and ok, it won't be a problem.

In your case, I would follow the instructsions here:
[How to clean a Toshiba laptop cooling system? | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=40]

Theoretically it could also be possible that the thermal grease is too old and should be replaced. This can be done from an authorized service provider.
