Satellite A200 - is something overheating?

Hello

I use Vista on an A200-TH7

About a week, the fan on my Satellite A200 started to turn very hard, and Windows to hang on a minute later. I cleaned the radiator and the fan, but the problem was still there, so I decided to restore the laptop to factory settings, but that didn't help either. However after update my Intel chipset drivers, the laptop ran fine for about a day, but today the fan has started to act up again. It's much better that before, since Windows does not crash, but the noisy fan always worry. Is something overheating?

I put the laptop to sleep for 5 minutes after the fan started to turn very hard, and he was fine after I took over, which leads me to think its overheating, but I can't be sure. CPU usage was<10%, and="" speedfan="" said="" the="" cpu="" temperatures="" were="" around="" 52c="" (it's="" usally="" around="" 46c="" when="" i'm="" idle="" or="" browsing).="" i'm="" also="" using="" a="" laptop="">

Any help would be appreciated ~

Hello

This strange s boyfriend but maybe the fan is broken and doesn't work correctly. Perhaps, it must be replaced.

In addition, I think that the thermal grease should be renewed between the heatsink and the CPU. This brings a cooling performance too.

In my opinion the best way would be if you ask a technician for help laptop. They can check the materials and renew the thermal grease.

    Hello

The drivers of Toshiba laptops are a bit different and not the same thing as the drivers from the manufacturer of the graphics card.
The original ATI drivers are made for office use and not for mobile use. Drivers Toshiba takes supported thermal protection that allows to control the performance of gpu and the dissipation of the heat.
If you want to use a page ATI driver then your GPU could create more heat as usual which leads to the unexpected shutdown.

I installed Win 7 on my A210. I didn't install the driver of ATI graphics card because the Win 7 automatically recognizes the graphics chip.
After installation, I went to the Device Manager. Then, I chose the graphics chip and looked for the driver automatically. Windows has found the right driver and installed this

    Hello world:

I ve got a Satellite A200 - 1C0 PSAE0E and since one month, it stops due to overheating (hybridized with hot CPU). The fact is that when I restart the computer to the BIOS screen, fan of the processor begins to work at a very high speed (to cool the CPU), but to start Windows to start the fan suddenly stops, and the fact is that the CPU is always at 78 degrees celsius.

I tried updating the BIOS, reinstall windows recovery partition and all components, but it does not solve anything. Also tried to install Windows 7 and still nothing and windows Xp and still nothing. I Don t know what else to do. Help will be apreciated.

    Hey,.

To properly clean your cooling system, see this article from Toshiba:

Another reason could be the old thermal grease and maybe, it must be renewed. If t, you can do it yourself, ask a technician for laptop help! :)

  • Satellite A200 - 19K - overheating/fan does not work

These 2-3 days, my Satellite A200 - 19 k (PSAECE) was himself cut and was not very hot. I installed SpeedFan, but it does detect any fans. In addition, the fan on the base of the machine is not working. Anyone has any ideas for a solution?

    Any help is much apprieciated.
    Thank you

    Hello

In this case there is not one any magic solution. Overheating is a very serious problem for me. I see two possibilities here: either is dirty cooling grill and the laptop cannot be cooled correctly or there is a mechanical problem with cooling fan.

If you really think that cooling fan is not working properly please contact the authorized Service partner as soon as possible. I imagine that the laptop has guaranteed valid and if the cooling fan is defective it will be exchanged free of charge.

This is serious problem and please, do not try to do some experiments, but be sure that the hardware of the laptop is not defective.

  • Re: Satellite A200 - 14 d - cable defective screen or something else?

    Hi, guys. :)

I'm having a problem with my display. I don't have an external display to test on so I have to give the service a go because I don't want to buy the part after part and replace it with my 'old' just to know that the problem is not caused by the latter. That said, here is a more detailed description of the source of my headaches:

More than 3 weeks ago (yeh, that much!: D) the backlight of my screen (Toshiba Satellite A200 - 14 d) turned black. "No worries!" I thought because I had 2 cases before replacing the inverter Board. If things were really that simple... * sigh * I bought a frequency inverter making sure that is the problem (I can see what happens on the screen only if I have a bright source of light pointed in his direction - this is what made me think that the problem comes from the Commission of the inverter).

I replaced the inverter, but to my great disappointment, the bakclight does not turn on or at least not for long. I noticed that there is light in the lower right corner of the screen. Once I disassembled completely my screen and a large part of the laptop itself, I have riddled the cables a bit and now if I don't move around the screen and put it in a special position backlight turnes on until after load of the GRUB bootloader. But sometimes it lights. So obviously this isn't the backlight itself (phewwww) for when it is activated, I can see the entire screen and there is a bright light everywhere.

So before considering service I want to have a diagnosis of my own (with your help of course: D) and see, just for the record, if I'm right.
As I wrote before - I don't have an external display to test these things. I can play movies and games without a problem (it's - regardless of the fact that I do not see a thing without a flashlight in my hand into account: D).

So the omho problem is either the motherboard itself (which I can test with an external display :() or cable.
In view of the facts and experiences, I did and described above, I think that cable is the source of all evil.

    See you soon,.

    > As I wrote before - I don't have an external display to test these things. I can play movies and games without a problem (it's - regardless of the fact that I do not see a thing without a flashlight in my hand into account: D).

Well, the backlight is controlled by FL inverter s thereby
If the FL inverter didn t solve the problem, then there must be problems with a screen itself

The external monitor would check if the problem is related to the graphics chip or the screen itself, but if you have no external monitor then I would recommend a visit to a downtown computer technician

I mean, it is best to check the parts first before replacing something without knowing if the part is really affected you know

  • Satellite A200 - overheating all the time

    Hi y ' All

I have a satellite A200 laptop computer that keeps overheating all the time.
I tried to do the thing of compressed air and she always does.
    Especially when am games online.
I've had this laptop for about a year now, and it already has an accident and burn on me and everything lost hard disk.
But this overheating is really annoying me.
I still have the clear fan so that it still works ok.
And there is no dust or dirt there either.
Can someone tell me what could be the problem?
And also I would like to know how I can format it so, it doesn't let me do.

Any suggestions would be appreciated muchly

    See you soon

    Wolfette.

Do you use the certified Toshiba graphics card driver?
You should do this in order to ensure that the graphics card would not overheat.
The driver of Toshiba GPU supports protection against overheating and control the dissipation of the heat created by the graphics chip.

But if you already use the Toshiba drivers, then the problem could be more complicated.
In this case, the laptop must be verified by technician ASP.

Maybe the thermal grease that is placed between the CPU and the GPU must be renewed.
At the time the thermal fold becomes dry and rough and cannot conduct heat well.

    In many cases, it helps.

Last but not least, you must use the Toshiba certified graphics card driver because this driver supports protection against overheating and the dissipation of the heat created by the GPU of the controls.
You must also make sure that the laptop is on the table and that there is enough free space around the laptop to ensure good air circulation.

    Hello, Russell

A few days ago, I have similar problem on my Satellite P200. After you install a third-party application, I got BSOD every time when this application loads. I tried anything possible. To start in safe mode and change the boot options, OS restore to an earlier time using System Restore tool. I also tried to remove application preinstalled in safe mode but nothing has helped.

In the end, I installed OS using recovery DVDs.

So, in my case, I was sure why this happens. What is with you? This happens if you use some applications? What player and antivirus do you use?
The same happens when you try to use Microsoft's Disk Defragmenter?

  • Satellite A200 - 1 M 8 - whistle problem

    Hello..

    I have the computer model toshiba laptop: Satellite A200 - 1 m 8

    OS: Win XP SP3

I don't know, but sometimes something in my laptop randomly and suddenly made like noise or whistle, but NOT clicks when your hard drive is going to die.

It's exactly like the sounds to the Hospital of pulsating heart on the machine when he moves to lower the level or milder to strongest level.

I don't know if it's the hard drive, but my hard drive seems in good health and that this thing is happening for a long time.

I'm not too sure if it is the processor, if it becomes overheated or overclocked, but I have not noticed issues freezing while it happened once.

What's the battery when the power level of electricity changes?

    What could be the reason?

    Thank you...

    Hi mate

You should know that the laptop was equipped with parts that could create different noises.
For example, the HARD disk, modules of cooling / cooling fan.

So it's not easy to say what role create these noises.
I'm sure that it s not a CPU or a sign of overheating because in this case the laptop stops down automatically to prevent the equipment from damage.

Maybe it s HARD drive and head disk HARD creates this noise while moving?  :| who knows

But in my opinion you should always create a backup of your files because if it of really a HDD issue there is a risk of damage to the HARD drive.
So save the date if you have some important data on the HARD drive.

It must be said that if you aren't 100% sure, what causes this noise then visit the ASP and the technician could check the hardware

  • Satellite A200 - cannot downgrade the BIOS to v2.40

    Please help me.

I bought a brand new toshiba Satellite A200 series laptop with vista home premimum inside.

For some reason, I'm not a fan of big vista.
So I lowered my XP OS and as I was looking for pilots and all this for XP I saw an update of the Bios for my laptop it's 5.20 which was for XP. Although for Vista its 2.40 as per mentioned on the Web site.

    Now where my problems began.
I downloaded this v5.20 bios and updated.
Soon the problems began as laptop is overheated, it freezes and sometimes refuse to give performance.

As I was unable to find all my drivers for XP I switched to Vista using my recovery DVDs. But the problem remains the same with Vista too, so finally, I took my laptop to a Toshiba Service Center.

They have said that it is a motherboard problem so they fixed, but they have not set the Bios.
I still v5.20 on my machine.

I tried to go down to v2.40 but it always shows an error.

Can someone help me pls... I am able to boot with a USB but I don't have a version of DOS of Bios v2.40.

Please if anyone can provide me with my version of the bios.
I'll be grateful to her for ever.

    Here are my system specs.

    Date 2009-01-26 03:04:19

    [Information on PC]
    Model name Satellite A200
    Part number PSAFCL-01M00P

Not even this when I buyed the laptop he showed me 749 something like a shared graphics memory now it shows only about 399.

I know that it is simply because of this update of the Bios.
Now I am not yet able to play good games.
This machine is almost useless for me now.

No help from you people will get.

I put t know why you want to downgrade the BIOS.
Have you read the information on the site of Toshiba for BIOS version 5.20? I created this:
    > Support Windows XP and Vista OS

So I think that you should not downgrade the BIOS. The most recent BIOS 5.20 is for Windows XP and Vista.
You can find this information on Toshiba Asia because you have the model of Asia (not Europe):
    http://www.PC.Toshiba-Asia.com =>
Update BIOS version 5.20 Satellite A200 (for the PSAF0-* & PSAFC *-* ONLY)

The Toshiba Service Center did a good job with the latest BIOS.

  • No backlight on the screen of the Satellite A200 - 14 d

    Hello!

Since yesterday I have a problem with my Toshiba Satellite A200 - 14 d. I left my laptop in full of energy and on the current for a while (about 30-40 min). When I got home, it was in standby mode (I'm with XP, btw). I pressed a key on the keyboard to exit this state of power, but all of a sudden the screen blinked, half of it went dark, then the other is too much and that's it. I thought it may have overheated or something like that, even if it was lit for an hour or less... I turned it off using THE button, left for about 15 minutes cool down a bit... After that I turned it on, but it's the same thing. While the Toshiba logo was displayed, the screen does the same thing and it went dark... But what I've noticed ofter an hour invesitgating, that he was not completely black. I thougth the display is off, but when I took the my lamp office and turned on the screen I was surprised to find, that I could see my office and the other stuff. Very dark, but everything was visible, even I was able to read things with black letters on white background... But when I turned off the light, everything was dark again... I tried to run some programs and everything works great - no problems at all except that I could not see most of the things that have happened to the screen.

I searched with Google and I found the same description of my problem in a site for laptop repairs. Here, the author says that it is a very common problem by books and it was because of what we call "FL inverter Board" or something like that, which is responsible for the backlight of the screen. Whitout the backlight, you can see a very bleak picture of your office, bootscreen etc.

My question is - what would I do? I am with an international warranty and I'm in Germany now (I have not bought the laptop of the Germany). I've heard of the hotline and a courier who comes and takes your laptop and need to service... Can someone explain to me step by step what I'm supposed to do?

    Thanks in advance!

    PS: Sorry for my English.

    Hello

    Hello

Excuse my bad English, but I have a problem with my 2 month old Satellite A200 - 1QZ Notebook.

Sometimes, about 2 times a week, my screen get is fuzzy (there looks like the color depth would change to 16-bit or less) and I can see a small green tint (but here? not sure m) on the entire screen.
I do not understand why, because sometimes during games, chat, write in word or something else, so no matter what I do.

Currently AI? using m for laptops modified Desktop Driver Catalyst 08.2 (the driver is original, but I have a tool called 'Mobility DotNET4', I modified with.

I don't think that the updated driver is the reason for my problem, because I remember of the day, I used the notebook for the first time and 1 hour later, I got it too. And now, the certified Toshiba display driver has been installed.

I solve the problem with the restart of the system, but it is very uncomfortable during the games or chatting.

I hope that my text is understandable...

Help, I would be very grateful.

    Welcome MatthiasV

    Hello

Eventually he s a graphics card problem, it is possible if the 3rd party graphics card driver has been installed.
The graphic drivers from Toshiba support thermal protection which is needed to prevent overheating of the material!

If you have used a non-Toshiba driver then a GPU could overheat and therefore this issue happened.

However, for me, it looks like a hardware problem and therefore the laptop must be checked by a service provider authorized in your country!

    Good bye

  • Re: My experience with Satellite A200

Bought a Satellite A200 March or February, since the purchase, he really began to think that I made a BIG mistake. Cost me $2000 purchase and only after it home and unpacking, I found that my new laptop in TWO THOUSAND dollar do not even have an audio output jack, it seems that most - Toshiba laptops on the $500au and brand make. "Oh, but it has an HDMI output! Well, Yes, yes it does! But it's the majority of the other laptops at prices similar, as standard alignment for those of us not rich enough to afford a new stereo system, whenever something new comes out, or those of us who are quite satisfied with the performance of our current systems of the stereo and do not want to buy a brand new just for a single input format that do not have our existing elements...

    Then...

About 2 months after the purchase, he did his first total shutdown due to overheating. Interesting, I thought... Hope that does not happen. Which he did. With more frequency, until finally he did at least once every 10 minutes, was similar to the other guy with of the A300. Well, I thought, call Toshiba service. They were very helpful, accommodating the pickup and warranty repairs. Repairs resulted in a bit of dust on, (Strange, considering that he is kept in a totally clinical environment) and, which I think was the real problem of cleaning of the relocation of the CPU.

EU return 2 days later, works very well. Now, less than a month after the repairs, it did 2 days ago. So far, that he did not have a recurrence, but good, give him time no doubt.

My biggest concern is, if this kind of thing is going to happen once every 6 months or if, after the warranty runs out so what? I have a COP then a dollar-big success for maintenance every 6 months? The literally of hundreds of different laptops that I and my friends and family have / have had, it of the only one I've never seen act like that and for the price, features less of most of them, I mean, no audio line output? What the hell is with that? Taken most of laptops headset can be switched on the fashion line, a fairly simple task, but not this one...

I must say Toshiba, as a loyal for many years, since I bought my first portable stereo Toshiba in the beginning of the 1980s, or about, I am completely underwhelmed, to the point of giving the phone to my wife as a birthday gift and into my office of Athlon powered 32-bit of aging (I bought the Toshiba to replace rofl).

I really should better until I bought it even though it has a radeon. To say all this. Same Halflife 2 which was made for the Radeons, has graphic problems running on the subject which are serious enough to put me off ever replay on the A200. Neverwinter Nights is substantially the same, although admittedly, it is more likely a problem of Vista than the Radeon.

Anyone else had a similar chance with one of these laptops? They should really be much better for their specifications

I have an A200 and had no problems with it. I don't play games on it, but this isn't really a game machine. I would have bought a Qosmio if I wanted to play games: P

Both my laptops gather dust in the radiator and warm me, I need to remove the dust once a month to avoid unexpected interruptions. But that is how it is with the PC, they will still collect dust and possibly overheating.

I had a few laptops different, none of them have a feature audio line. I guess you have to buy a model that focuses on the media side of things (again, the Qosmio series).

Off course for everyone the experience is different, all I can say is that I am generally satisfied with the A200. He does the work :)

  • Satellite A200 screen backlight is disabled

I'm having a problem with my Satellite A200.

When the screen is opened, the backlight is disabled. You can vaguely see the screen keep it turned on, but it is too small to read.
When you close it, you can see the screen backlight turns on, it stays on for just less than one second when you re - open the lid, and then turns off again.

I guess that it has something to switch the lid being faulty.
    Can someone suggest solutions.

    Thank you very much
    Anthony

This part of the message is very interesting:
    > You can vaguely see the screen keep it turned on, but it is too small to read.

According to your description, you can see the screen and eventually the office too, but the entire screen is very low as behind a thick fog.
    Could this be just?

Well, I think that this problem could be linked to the failure of inverter FL.
The FL inverter is a tiny part hidden behind the frame of the screen and it controls the backlight of the screen s.

In my opinion, this part should be checked by a technician for laptop.

    Thank you

    Hello

Thanks for sharing this with us, but I think that everyone should be very careful using such instructions.
First disassembly laptop procedure is very delicate. Even if the statement is available, pieces can be broken off during the procedure or the statement could miss some important elements.

In addition you will always lose warranty if you'd try to disassemble the laptop.
So to me don t touch if the warranty is valid and come into contact with a local ASP.

    > What is a normal cost for this item? Is - this seller is reliable?
    > Who has already buy something?
I n t have any experience with this dealer, but the new motherboard is not a party at low prices.
However, the Toshiba ASP could provide this new mobo for you and you could also ask the price and can compare offers

  • Some keys no longer work on Satellite A200-196 after Windows 7 update

Hi all, I've just upgraded computer laptop of my partner (a Toshiba Satellite A200-196) to Windows 7 after you initially install Windows XP on it (it came with Vista).

After the XP update, I noticed that some keys were not working. I don't remember the process that I used to solve the problem, but the difficulty that I did, and they were all soon works perfectly. So this is a software problem and not material. I think he might have something to do with the FN key - but I can't be sure.

Now, I just upgraded the same machine and I have exactly the same problem. Keys that don't work are Backspace, O, P, F, H, K and L.

Can anyone help please? I tried to reinstall Win7 and the problem is still there.

    Thank you very much

    Andy

    > The keys that don't work are Backspace, O, P, F, H, K and L.

These keys have nothing to do with the missing software.
Indeed, the function key (FN key) needs a Toshiba utility particular installation / software to make it work, but the keys Backspace, O, P, F, H, K and L are common keys on the keyboard that don t need no special software.

That's why I think that the problem is hardware related: simple keyboard malfunction.
I guess that all of these keys work correctly if you sign in and use the external USB keyboard.
