  I have laptop Satellite A210-12U (PSAEGE) and the CD/DVD drive has no advert for it.

  By ad, I mean its not listed via Start/computer, have only Vista (c), data (E :) listed there. I don't find in Device Manager or the other.

  Anyway, try this:

  1. access to the registry and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:

  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

  Reboot the laptop and wait for the CD/DVD drive would appear once again

  or

  2 go to the page of the Toshiba driver and download dvd player

  I have a toshiba A210 - 15K, but I seem to have a problem with the integrated webcam for laptops.   I noticed the same thing on my Satellite P200. After reboot, everything works again. I don't use a webcam so often and it is not so important to me, but you can try to stop (exit) web cam software and start it again.

  The 2.5 "SATA 5400 RPM HARD drive would be OK.

  As much I know satellite A210-171 has already interface SATA HARD drive so that you can install each HARD drive with this interface because the standard SATA are without capacity limits. This means that hard drives of 500 GB or more may work.

  For example, I upgraded my laptop with 500 GB Western Digital drive HARD and this worked great.
