Satellite A30 504 - maximum size of HDD - 160 GB work?
Hi guys,.
I have a good old A30-504, and the 40 GB HARD drive died a few days ago... I had to buy a new one, but the smallest I can get is 120 GB or 160 GB.
(Samsung HM121HC or HM160HC)
It will work on my laptop or should I choose a 40 to 80 GB one second-hand?
Kind regards
Zoltan
Hello
All depends on your HARD disk controller.
If the HARD disk controller supports only 28-bit LBA then your could use max 120 GB HDD.
If your HARD disk controller supports 48-bit LBA, you can then use more big hard drives.
The ATA-6 defines Ultra DMA/100 (also called Ultra DMA mode 5 or Ultra-ATA100) and it supports 48-bit LBA.
ATA - 5 and lower versions support only 28-bit LBA.
Welcome them

How to replace the battery CMOS on Satellite A30 504?
I have big problems with my satellite A30 504... it does'nt see the HARD disk at startup, my only solution was to press the power button for many times so far.
My HARD drive is ok so I think that the problem comes from the cmos battery, but I do not know how to find out what type it is and how to replace.
(PS. Sorry my English, I'm not an English speaker)
Hi Adrian
Battery CMOS is always placed in an uncomfortable position and to swap the battery of the device must be removed. If you didn t done this before please don t do this alone. One small mistake and you can damage a plastic cover of the unit.
I recommend contacting the service and allow them to do this for you. It costs a little, but you will be sure it will be done on the professional track. When the unit is disassembled it can also be cleaned of dust.

Satellite A30-504 modem does not
Hi all
Old old old Satellite A30 504 my father had problems of modem for quite awhile. Here are the symptoms exposed:
Modem is recognized as "TOSHIBA Software Modem AMR" and classified works correctly. However, when you query the modem, I get the following message:
+ The port that the modem is attached could not be opened. This can be the result of a hardware conflict. Check the Device Manager to verify that all devices are functional. +
Settings of resources:
Range of e/s-2400-24FF
E/s series 2000-207F
IRQ 7
(I can't change any of these settings)Needless to say that the modem does not work.
Has anyone ever met such a problem before? Does anyone know of a way to fix this? I really don't want to get a PCMCIA modem for this laptop, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance!

What is the maximum size of HDD compatible on Satellite A300 PSAG4A-02M00M
I was wondering if anyone can tell me the maximum size of hard drive that can handle a PSAG4A-02M00M and max running at 5400 RPM, (because I don't want it to be slower than that).
And what specifications for disk replacement? (IDE, etc.)
Thank you
Hello
As far as I know the laptop supports the SATA HDD controller and you must use a SATA 2.5 HARD.
You should be able to use any HDD SATA controller SATA HDD is not limited to any size. I think that the BIOS should also support a 320 GB HARD drive or more
Hope this might help you

The maximum size of HDD to HP 8510
Hello
I just bought a 8510p on sale at auction and wanmt to upgrade to 120 GB to 750 GB HARD drive.
Can Nyone you tell me if the 8510p can deal with a disk this size?
If she cannot what is the maximum size that can be installed?
Thank you very much
Cameron
Hello
Based on the following specifications, it uses the HARD (probably SATA II) SATA drive so you can use the largest (HARD drive capacity). A 750 GB at 7200 RPM will be very nice for this machine:
You may need to update the BIOS of the machine:
Good luck.

Satellite A30, Win XP Pro SP3 - modem does not work
Another problem with this laptop Satellite A30
The built-in modem does not work.* Explanation: *.
The driver is correct and downloaded from the Toshiba support site.
The modem is identified as "Toshiba software modem amr" and is installed on com3 port. When I click on "diagnosis" and "ask modem" (right labels can be different, since my is an Italian win xp, I just translated the Italian labels), a window pops up saying: it is impossible to open the door (port), the modem is connected to.
I tried to change the com port of the modem to different numbers, but the problem is the same.
I don't know if the modem is a real map connected somehow to the main Board or is built right on the main map. It would be the first case, I may change see ad. BTW, the mini slot pci is already occupied by the gigabyte of Wi - Fi, so the modem must be elsewhere. This is strange, since I've done at least 2 other win xp pro on this machine facilities, always download and install the appropriate drivers, and the modem has never worked.
Thank you
S.Hello
Have you installed the SP3 Windows XP Home edition, then the drivers or SP1 and later updated to level to the SP3 version?
> It's strange, because I did it at least 2 other facilities on this machine pro win xp

It seems that the hard drive on your A30 is in the optical drive, and you must remove all first the STRANGE before you get access to the HARD drive.

The maximum size of HDD for Satellite Pro 6000?
Hi, I am trying to install a 60 GB hard drive, but it is shaped, and it stops at the instalation of Windows XP Pro.
Is there a size limit of HD?
Thank you
RonaldoHello
It stops without any error message? If this isn't the case, then try another copy of Windows XP since the Satellite Pro 6000 shouldn´t have problems with this drive. I had 2 years a similar machine and I also got a 60 GB Toshiba HARD drive installed. It worked like a charm, so I can't imagine that the hard drive could be the problem.
See you soon

What is a maximum size of HDD for Satellite Pro 2100?
I want to improve my aging Satellite Pro 2100 (PS210E-00C3G-GR) with a new hard drive. The BIOS supports more than 120 GB drives?
Thanks in advance!Hmm. 120 GB HARD DRIVE? I don t think so. But this is only my personal opinion.
To my knowledge, the Pro 2100 was equipped with 30 GB HARD drive.I think that the 60GB is a realistic size and could be seen by the BIOS.
In any case, I didn't find any official Toshiba information support max sizes of HARD drive and I imagine that you must test the HARD drive.

Hi all
I would like to install a new HARD drive and would like to know what size the 2.5 "HDD can be because there is enough of different sizes and in the past, I probably had a problem with a laptop from other manufacturers.
Anyone know the maximum values? for the width, depth and height of the hard drive for laptop?

By the way: what HARD drive you want to use with your laptop satellite?
