Satellite A30 cleaning (overheating)

OK here the same old problem, overheating.
now able to go n im getting my hands durty and clean my LT, ive done b4 with DTs and other LTs, however, as im in College, and have little time and its vital that I don't mean anyhting, (ive been having one of the seasonal months where I don't want to risk what anything, because everything goes wrong) so im planing on doing the old shell out money for a work I can do myself to save myself the hassle.

I need to find a place that will clean up on my LT, reapply thermal past etc etc and wondered if anyone had any suggestions of WHO to try.

I have a feeling that my warranty was exhausted (thought don't know, I need to find my documentation: S). so I can't ask Peter Tosh, do it.

everyone has ideas or suggestions, I am 100% positive, it is a problem of overheating and that would solve my problems as the work im doing United is rather processor intensive and am using my LT as I don't have access to my DT
Thanks in advance.

HI Francesca.

Do not disassemble your laptop, you could try to suck the dust/debris by the grids of aspiration of fan with a vacuum cleaner. I use this technique on my A30 regularly.

This has the advantage of not requiring any disassembly, so there is no risk of disturbing all the internal components.

Well on this laptop, it came out over a period of 20 months ago, the last year I had an overheating problem, I temporarily delayed by buying two desk fans to him but this summer I sent him far from being 'fixed' then after 1-2 months to be fixed the problem slowly began to re-occuring more often most of the time when I run the games.

Then I talked to some friends and they said on the incompatibility of the RAM somehow another ram of 256 in and it was not compatible with the original so I removed it and purchased a new 512 to go with 256. ALWAYS the laptop turns off, so RAM incompatibility was not the cause. I also bought a cooler laptop yesterday, that actually made it worse my computer now turns off a few seconds of a game being loaded.

I went into a store model, and they said to the ventilation systems for laptop as if they were defective when creating, they will continue to be faulty even when 'fixed '. What can I do about it? I'm looking for the cause.

I also had the computer under warranty for a year, but now the problem that was supposed to be fixed reappeared, but im now out of warranty, can't that ask something since the same problem they're supposed to difficulty is still there?
    Any help appreciated.

    Hi Bill,

Overheating and random power offs are surprisingly common on this model of laptop. The problem arises because the debris and dust is sucked into the grilles of the fan on the bottom of the laptop and is then trapped in the heat sink CPU effectively blocks. A thermal cut-out will work when the CPU temerature becomes too high and turns off the phone to avoid any damage.

Regular clearing of debris in the heat sink is necessary (I do mine a week). Usually a domestic pipe against the bars of fresh air fan will be sufficient, although in severe cases, it may be necessary to remove the radiator (accessible by removing a panel of access at the bottom of the laptop) and manually clear the debris.

  • How to clean the cooling modules Satellite A30

How can I clean the fan overheating? I can't open my laptop (Satellite A30) on the back for a screw is damaged. is there an alternative?

    * {color: #000000}
Thanks for your comments! {color} *.

You can use a jet of compressed air to clean the cooling fans.
This air jet can be bought from most of the dealers for laptop and computer.

Then you could try blowing through the vents to get rid of dust and debris.
For the most part this procedure simply help!

If the laptop overheats again, contact a technician for laptop for further assistance.

  • Satellite A30 stops due to overheating

My Satellite A30 cutout due to overheating.
The cooling fans are free of dust.
    I put the Max-performance cooling.
Is there another reason of overheating?

    Hi David,

Everything that hinders the free movement of air across the processor HEAT SINK cooling will have the effect you describe. The problem is that dust can not be seen by looking at the fan grids because she has built up inside the unit. The easy way to remove it is to use a vacuum cleaner hose from the cleaner to the grids of aspiration air (using a piece of cloth to maximize suction). This should make the fans running at very high speed and can produce a WAD of debris inside the grids you'll need to choose carefully.

To be really complete, you need to remove the radiator cover (adjacent to the grids of aspiration and locked by two "torx" screws). With the cover removed, you will be able to see the heat sink itself fixed by four Phillips head screws (two on each side), delete them and remove the heat sink. Note that it will stick to the CPU because of thermal paste used during Assembly. DO NOT REMOVE THE DOUGH. Once the heatsink is removed, you will be able to see an accumulation of debris.

Reassembly is the reverse of the uninstall, but note sequence on the heat sink numbers, so that you can tighten the screws in the correct order.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite A30, PC shutdown due to overheating of the CPU

My Satellite A30 has a new problem, the PC shuts down due to overheating.
Fans are set to Max Performance. The cooling fans are not blocked by dust.
I think that the CPU is overheating for some reason any.
Can someone explain what parameters can be modified to avoid this problem?
I also saw that the other Toshiba PC needed a BIOS upgrade, it will be necessary for the A30?

    Hello David

Your device is certainly full of dust and cannot be properly cooled. If I remember the unit has two vents on the lower part. The must be removed and cleaned properly.

Trust me on this machine, the dust is placed behind the fans and if you look they seems to be clean, but they are not. Contact the customer Service of your country partner. The cleaning procedure takes about 20-30 minutes. I can't imagine that it will be expensive.

    Good bye

  • Upgrade of RAM for Satellite A30 213

After buying my satellite second hand I immediately found why it was for sale, the dreaded overheating.
I cleaned the fans with compressed air and it worked fine, then my error fatal, flushed with success, I bought the RAM online and installed. It was recgonised by the system and I thought all was well until it has proved defective and crashed my operating system, no recovery was possible.

An operating system later new XP (and £50 poorer), I'm ready to have another go, but I can't open the user manual on the Toshiba site.

I want to get right to the RAM of a reputable suplier, but the specifications I have indicates only DDR RAM, does anyone know the full specification (pins etc) because I don't want to lose it all again?

    Hello

    Have a look here:
    http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=7249&ft=m&St=3

You need the PC2100 200 pin SODIMM (266 MHz) DDR modules.
You can upgrade the Satellite A30 Ram up to 2 GB. This means that you can use the 2 x 1 GB module.

I had a good experience using modules from Kingston.

    Welcome them

  • Satellite A30 always stop without notice

    Hi all

I'm having a problem with my laptop Satellite A30. It will always stop without notice. But the thing is that I n it's a problem of heating with the fans. The laptop turns off only to if im under the laptop to maximum power or full power from the AC adapter. Tasks that can be taxed as a full system virus scan or play games will be stopped after about 20 minutes more than the setting of high battery power or if its connection to the network and is set to full power. Using word or simple tasks are not.

Now im thinking there may be a problem with my cpu it can not handle when it needs to perform tasks advanced on my laptop. What could be the problem? Low power my laptop works very well even when executing these advances of the tasks it is only a problem when its power on full or high.

    Any help or advice?

    Hello

Thanks for the description I always think of it s an overheating problem.
Current laptop saver control different modes of consumption if the laptop works with the AC adapter or with full power, the energy saver uses different power mode when the laptop will run only to batteries.

Different consumption patterns are supported various parameters of the processor and the different method of cooling.
Probably the CPU works with a hot and maximum performance when the power adapter is connected.

I think you should check the cooling modules and fans. Try cleaning carefully with the vacuum cleaner. But if you have no experience with these procedures, then request a technician or a person with more experience

Perhaps, the Bios is damaged and need to be reflashed

The hard drive can be a troublemaker. To be honest, it is not easy to say what is really happening through this forum. It can turned off because of overheating, clean the tower with air jet

  • Re: Fan is constantly running on Satellite A30

Whenever I start my Satellite A30 the fan starts to operate in an audible manner. However, HD is about 32 to 35 ° C, according to speedfan. In addition, from time to time, the fan speeds up and gets really loud.

In addition, sometimes the laptop just closed without any warning. I shall now put the end of the book a one bar so that air can still pass by the pc, and I feel it helps.

I would like to stop the fan always running and to reduce its noise.

My RAM expansion may be the reason?

To make the A30 run better and be able to install WinXP SP3 I upgraded from 256 MB to 2.0 GB of RAM which is the maximum size of RAM according to the manual. I used the site Web of Kingston to select and buy the CPU, so I guess I bought good extensions.

If the extension of RAM were the reason for the fan always market that would mean that if the A30 Gets the full load of RAM it's overheating. Right?

Are there people here on the forum who had the same problem with a noisy laptop after upgrading the RAM?

    TIA
    FT

Satellite A30 is old enough for laptop and, in my view, there may be a big problem cold air and cooling rack is full of dust. Laptop cannot be properly cooled. I opened several old notebooks and it was amazing to see how the dust was inside. I really wonder how the laptop worked

Laptop last I opened was friends Satellite A100 (not so old as yours) and I've been irritated how fan worked on this laptop. He was so strong and ON / OFF sporadically. After cleaning it computer laptop was extremely calm and fan has worked almost constantly, but at the low level silent.

The same was on my old satellite 1900. It was full of dust.

Upgrade RAM or any other reason can be the reason for more power and performance. Performance notebook more runs faster and produce more heat. The critical threshold is reached laptop after suddenly OFF.

  • Satellite A30 921 stops after 10 minutes

I am the owner of a Satellite A30 921, but it stops after 10 minutes.
I tried to change the settings for toshiba power management, but they will not work any ideas?

The laptop turns off automatically without display of error messages?
This can be caused by an overheating problem!

How old is your laptop and you clean the cooling fans in the past?
If this isn't the case, I recommend you this doing.

To clean the fans, you can use the jet of compressed air that can be bought in most computer stores.
The problem is that dust and debris inside of the laptop prevents cooling modules works properly, and so the temperature increases to a higher level. This leads to the farm automatically from the bottom.

In my opinion, fans of cleaning might help with this problem.

  • Satellite A30 - question about the CPU temperature

    Hi all

I have a Satellite A30 (model name: SA30-151, model number: PSA33E). I had the usual problems with overheating and closing, where I had to clean the radiator.

My question is, how hot the CPU must sit at and what temperature is dangerous?

I installed 'Hardware sensors Monitor' and the average temperature is about 55 c, but I saw it happen at 70 c when I'm pushing it.

I was not able to find something on the net about it and I can't find information on the Toshiba site.

Any help or advice would be appreciated, thanks...

The same temperature is on my Tecra M1. Believe me, there's really no reason to panic.

  • SATELLITE A30: random suddenly shut down

Hi everyone, I finally had a problem on my laptop. While it is a bit of effort (the CPU works 80-100%) for 2 months it suddenly stop after a few seconds. He has worked for over 2 years and now I do not understand the reason for this strange problem. First of all I don't know if it's a hardware problem or a software one.
Please give me some advice cause I have yet to find any real solution.

    Thank you very much

    Gianni (Italy)

If you check this forum you will find a wide range of similar subjects and this problem is not strange. The sudden stop is mainly caused by overheating. Satellite A30 and Satellite 1900 are older units, and in my opinion, it is a time for cleaning.

Of course, the CPU of high activity cannot be properly cleaned and machine stops automatically before the CPU or other pieces of equipment can be damaged.

  • Unexpected shutdown - Satellite A30

    Hello...

My laptop is Satellite A 30 series.
Now a days when I play video... After awhile it was too hot and descended the unscheduled closure. Could you please tell me, what is a major problem and how can I solve this problem?
    Thank you.

    Hello

I agree with chain. It's really typical reaction when the laptop is going to be too hot and the hardware may be damaged.

With just words, I would say: it is time for cleaning. When you remove all the dust inside your device will be able to take a breath and works correctly.

Check it please this page http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/ToshibaA35/Satellite-A35-fixing-overheating.htm

You'll see how it looks like when the cooling module is full of dust on Satellite A30.

    Bye and good luck!

  • Satellite A30 stops when you run Norton

Hello. I have a Satellite A30 which crashes when trying to run Norton.

Spec: Satellite A30, Win XP Home SP1, 512 MB RAM, 3 + Ghz processor.

We also noticed that the fan seems to be "fully enlightened", even when he's just sitting on the desktop with any of the applications that are running.

    Any ideas?

We noticed that there was a notification for install of XP SP2, so we clicked on that. He started to install, the fan is even harder, it crashed again and now there is no notification of XP SP2!

We are sure that this is a problem of overheating or battery, but we wonder what we can do about it.

I hope someone can help. Thank you.
    Nath.

    Hello Nath

As far as I know that satellite A30 is about two years old and agree to your description, I assume that the unit needs to be cleaned. I have Satellite P20, also more than two years, and for a short while I cleaned. You can't imagine how much dust was inside. I have a cat at home and I think half of the cat hair was inside.

After cleaning, the laptop can take a breath and it works more silent. Now, I am very satisfied. I can just recommend you to do the same.

    Good luck!

  • Can someone tell me what is happening with my Satellite A30?

Can someone tell me what is the problem with my computer laptop satellite A30 514 is? The problem is that my laptop is very easy get hot and the fan never stop turning after 15 minutes and I continue to use the laptop about 1 hour, I guess that the laptop GET overheat auto power off.
Help me to know what is the problem.
    Thank you.

    HI Yves,

It sounds like overheating to me. This is usually caused by a build-up of dust in the cPU-heatsink which keeps air from cooling fans to pass through. You can try to use a hose of vacuum cleaner against the bars of suction air suction debris.

    Kind regards
