  I have a laptop Satellite A30-303. Somehow, independent programs open in Windows XP (Home, Pro edition, tried both), computer laptop unexpectedly shutw down, stop immediately. No message from windows, no errors of any kind, nothing, just the way it went.

  It's very strange. I have read all of the instructions, did the bios update to 1.80 (dated Sep 15) and still the same thing.

  Fact checking for viruses, all firewalls security and it did not help at all.

  Anyone have any ideas?

  Please check that the machine not too much heat! The symptom you describe is exactly that of a machine overheating. Check if the fan is running continuously before stopping. Also check that there is no dust in the cooling of the machine module.

  For me, it looks like overheating and not as a software problem!
  Usually, all Toshiba laptops support an overheating protection. This feature stops the laptop automatically to avoid material damage!

  I think that don t cooling modules work correctly and therefore the temperature rises to a higher level. Especially the dust blocks the cooling fans!

  So, in my opinion, you should try to clean the fans.

  My Satellite A30 has a new problem, the PC shuts down due to overheating.

  Your device is certainly full of dust and cannot be properly cooled. If I remember the unit has two vents on the lower part. The must be removed and cleaned properly.

  Trust me on this machine, the dust is placed behind the fans and if you look they seems to be clean, but they are not. Contact the customer Service of your country partner. The cleaning procedure takes about 20-30 minutes. I can't imagine that it will be expensive.

  My Toshiba laptop Satellite A30-871 began to discharge the battery while the power is connected (the LED shows that AC is connected but laptop consumes the battery power instead of loading battery and the use of current alternative). When the laptop achieved 0% battery turns off.   I need to restore the HD of Satellite A30 of my boy.
  He gave me that one DVD 'product Recovery DVD-ROM'

  I have satellite A30 and I reinstall windows xp at home, but I can't find any com port whenever I try to query the modem the display hardware confilct, but in Device Manager no sign of error/confilct, I did everything what I can.

  Add more then 1 port
  disable the printer port
  change the printer port
  Reinstall derver modem,
  In short, I've done everything I can. its always show (! yellow) mark.if I add the port and if I remove the port and there is no sign of error.

  I have a Satellite A30 921. After you download the Service Pack 3 Windows the power management tools cannot either Hibernate & sleep functions. Microsoft Help said I needed to update my BIOS. However, BIOS for this laptop is not available online-not that I can find!

  What should I do? Is there an another BIOS update to use instead or I just SP2?

  I'm not 100%, but in my opinion, there is nothing to do. Satellite A30 is old enough laptop model and, as far as I know, there is no any kind of update for SP3.
  I have Satellite M70 and always use it with SP2 because a lot of people here have reported on the various problems after the installation of SP3 and I don't want to have an any of them on my laptop.

  In any case try to check the Toshiba support under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com page. don't forget to search the ARCHIVES.
