Satellite A30 - sound began to deteriorate

Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite A30 Latop (Service Pack 3) and, recently, the noise began to deteriorate and sometimes I have no sound at all if I was using the laptop for a while.

A reboot seems to fix the problem, but after 30 minutes, do it again, it's a mix of sound warping/slow down down/cracking.
The noise issue occurs if I play music through the speakers of the laptop or through headphone plug headphones or my hi-fi amp.

I reinstalled XP and updated through Windows update to the last parameters, but the problem is still there, not sure if it's a sound card problem or if it's the speakers or something else.

If anyone has experienced this problem and is there a solution?

Thanks for your time...

  • Satellite A30 - Sound went a few weeks ago

    Hello

A friend of the family has a Satellite A30-141 Tosh. Its top went a few weeks ago.

I checked the volume of material, the volume of software, stripped and put up-to-date audio drivers settings, then re-installed the chipset drivers and BIOS.

When you start Windows lappy sound shows two options (apparently did not do this before hand, it began it shortly before his death) start.
One for Windows Professional, one for Microsoft Windows.

So I think there may be a problem with it Windows Installer or it is hardware related.
My next step would be to back up its data and do a fresh install.

What are his chances of getting a new disc of recovery after four years (I don't think that it has already registered the lappy)?
I have not tried a restore point, now that I think of it, that's pretty silly to me :(

I saw in another thread that these laptops do not like XP SP3.
Could that be the cause of the problem?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

The chances of getting the original recovery media for this oldie aren t so good, but for the installation of Windows XP Home edition, you can use Microsoft Original installations CD. I agree with you that the new installation of Windows XP Edition family can offer answers. To do this. Install Windows XP Home clean and please without SP3.

All the drivers, tools and utilities that you can find on Toshiba page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com for assistance
    ARCHIVES of course. ;)

Please install this in order facilities described in the instructions of facilities document (also listed with all the drivers).

    Good luck!

  • Re: Satellite A30 - battery starts to unload if the power is connected

    Hi all

My Toshiba laptop Satellite A30-871 began to discharge the battery while the power is connected (the LED shows that AC is connected but laptop consumes the battery power instead of loading battery and the use of current alternative). When the laptop achieved 0% battery turns off. Remove the power plug and reconnect do not resolve the problem, while the computer is turned on, only computer shutdown will begin the battery takes over. Which means that I can use portable so that battery retains some powers. Sometimes, when the laptop is turned off and the battery is charging, battery charging LED starts to blink and I have to remove the power plug and plug back.

I don "t think it's a bad power connector because the witness indicates the power is connected.

I wonder if anyone has a solution for me.

    Kind regards
    Nova

    Hello

Just a question; does the laptop functions and using only the AC adapter (without the battery)?

If Yes, then I guess that the problem might be related to battery failure.
Maybe a new battery could solve this problem, but as you know this is just a suggestion

  • Re: Sound on Satellite A30-514 problems

    Hi all

I recently bought a used Toshiba Satellite A30-514.
I checked and got everything works except the sound and wireless WLAN. I learned that with the wireless, there is no card so that I hope that the problem has been resolved.

    Now to the sound issue.
I checked all the way through the sound settings, try the things usual e.g uninstall Realtec AC97 audio and sourcing the driver on the Toshiba site and install again, although when 80% through it causes an error while it just goes right to 100%.
In the Device Manager it happens now with the yellow exclamation point and the properties now show that this device cannot start (code 10) location: PCI bus 0, device 31, function 5.
It comes up with no device in the sounds and audio devices.
I tried upgrading the bios (already the most recent) and tried to uninstall and reinstall, but does not work on anything!

Please someone help ive spend a whole day faced with my brain, but nothing helps, I hope that someone had the same problem and knows more to help, I will be much appreciated if you can help.
    Thanks in advance guys!

  • No sound on my Satellite A30

I have a laptop satellite A30. A month or two ago, I had a virus and when the problem has been resolved, I found I had no sound, be it from the computer.

All audio devices are present and the volume of the speaker is on the normal setting. I think it is a driver problem, but how do you know for sure and if it is a driver problem, how to install a new to solve the problem. I tried to use the disk utilities and that does not work either.

  • Satellite A30: Card sound & Chipset driver problem.

    Hi all
I'm about to get REALLY crazy! I would really appreciate if someone can help me...

    My story is:
I lost all my CD recovery & pilot who gave me in 2004. But I had to format my pc this weekend due to many reasons of system (bugs, unable to connect to the net, etc.).
My first step was to Toshiba site, I downloaded all kinds of drivers for Satellite A30. And I had XP Professional SP2 from my friend and installed it. But after completing all the facilities below is the result:

    (1) NO. SOUND :(

2 points to mark on the 2 points that are a) multimedia sound controller and b) PCI Modem in Device Manager / other devices.

    (3) Chipset installation error message: Chipset Intel (r) utility installation requires platform chipsets supported by the supported operating system. Read the section of the system requirements in the Readme.txt for more information.
So far I checked the forums my chipset has not been installed correctly, but when I try yo install the Intel chipset 895PE (csutil-sa30-xp - 5011015.zip) I downloaded download address http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com, it gives the error message and some people says to install the drivers in good order as, first install XP with SP1, and then install utilitt chipset, and then install SP2 etc... But it seems not to be easy for me...

Really, I can repeat my FORMAT again, but in what order process...
    Thank you...

    Hello

Just to inform that my problem has been resolved in itself :)
I reformatted my laptop and installed new computer the original XP Pro SP2 by following the instructions.

His problem was solved automatically, no installation utility chipset required...
The noise problem was probably caused by lack of update Microsoft KB835221 for SP1 and KB888111 for SP2, which then was resolved with the XP of more recent origin...

  • No sound on Satellite A30

    Hello world
I have a satellite A30 and just rebuilt this laptop and now I have no sound I used the restore disks and tried the drivers on the site but nothing works, I have XP Home running on this issue with SP2 and the laptop works fine just no sound

    Help, please

    Hello

Have you checked the Device Manager?
If this is not-> check it out.
If there are no marls of yellow exclamation in the region of the sound card as well as the audio driver was not installed correctly or is missing.

Second, you should check the controller volume on the side of the laptop. Yes, the volume control. A lot of people forget to check this option simply.

In addition, you should visit-> sound and audio devices Control Panel.
Here, you can try to change the top-level controller.

Have you checked the sound settings and volume knob?

    The same situation with headphones?

    Hello

  • Satellite A30 - does not start after the RAM to level

    Hello

I recently installed a crucial for memory
my laptop, which is a Toshiba Satellite A30. However, when I try and
restart the laptop, he tries to restart the fan turns on then turns off with a beep sound and this is not
even to get to the Toshiba start screen.

    The memory I installed is 1 GB, 200-pin SO-DIMM, 128 X 64, DDR 333, CL2.5, part number CT12864X335.

"Memory module PC2700 DDR 1 GB, 200-pin SODIMM

    * Size of the module: * 1 GB
    * Package: * 200-pin SODIMM

    I have
took out and put back the old memory and the laptop boots
normally and is OK, I even tried to put the memory in different
slot machines, but it still has the same problem.

This suggests that memory is faulty, as bought crucial memory must be compatible with my laptop?

    Thanks for your time,

You have this problem if you use modules or only the new module?

If you only use the new module, the case is clear. The new module is defective or is not compatible with the laptop.
I think you should get back on the computer dealer and request a new. Maybe you can get a Kingston module because I have only good experience with this production.

If you use both modules, they are not compatible. You should only use the modules with the same specifications.

  • Possible motherboard on Satellite A30 problem

    Hello

I have a satellite A30 laptop computer. Recently, he began to fade until it is still on.

Whatever the dough / battery and AC or AC only whenever I turn on the laptop the front led light for one minute and then go off. If I keep the power button then the lights are light and flick off, once again but after release of the CD LED power button / Power LED flick on then tap off and the HARD disk activity light turns very weakly for a millisecond before the device shows no power.

I tried the new memory in two slots
new CPU using the new thermal grease
    Boot diskless HARD and CD

I disassembled the unit and can see no obvious damage to components or to the motherboard. The welding of the motherboard looks also good.

If I plug the power cable then the battery charge indicator is Amber for 2 sec and then green. As soon as you press the power button the foregoing occurs again.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hello

I think that your machine has a malfunction serious mainboard. Welds may be ok, but you have a microscope to check as a senior technician or engineer? The other point: it may be a faulty resistor or capacitor or something else, personally, I think it must be something like that from the points of error described on something of the power subsystem.
You can also try another thing: If you have your removed keyboard could look under the motherboard, then you can try to unplug a cable which must be located on the lower part before the entrance of the handrest. It s not a thin rather a high flatcable which should be for the Panel in the front of your machine (which is for multimedia keys and so forth) and unplug it. Check what happens if nothing, then you def. malfunction mainboard, if the machine starts then the front pcb is defective and must be replaced.

  • Satellite A30: Software Dragon Naturally Speaking speech recognition does not work!

I am unable to get the speech recognition program 7.3 Preffered Dragon Naturally Speaking version to operate successfully on my laptop Satellite A30 P4, using Windows XP as the operating system. It works fine on my PC of similar specs as the Satellite A30. Speech recognition is very poor indeed with the Toshiba laptop. He was sent to the seller twice, but the problem is still not resolved. I know that this Dragon program works fine on other laptops.

He is also unable to play some of my CD.

I would like to know if the portable technology is unable to operate with Dragon speech recognition, or is the problem with the A30 series or with my specific computer?

What characteristic specifications are necessary for the performance of Dragon with success of the Toshiba A30? This microphone is necessary? How many and what types of RAM? An additional sound card can be inserted into the laptop to improve performance?

Help, please! Anyone with experience with Dragon speech recognition? What could be the problem of CD?

[Edited by: admin on 19 June 05 14:33]

    Hello

It's specific software problem and it is not easy to tell what can be the problem. In my opinion, it may be that his card on this unit has no performance you want. Sorry but I have no other explanation.

These problems can be solved simply by contacting the producer of software because they have much more experience in troubleshooting.

  • I inserted the wireless network card, but it does not work on Satellite A30

    Hello please, be gentle, lol.

I have a Satellite A30, no manuals, disks etc. of second hand.
I had to buy a wireless card and installed it myself (error?).

The card is an Intel P/N: PA3362U 1MPC.

My is... have issue I installed it properly (see below), and can someone point me in the right direction for the correct driver?

(Correct?) installation... .clipped perfectly in the slot in the compartment in the base of the laptop. Two sons rolled? one longer than the other?
I plugged them as follows... more long wire to THE & shorter wire by HAND (on map)? Does this sound correct?
How could I not if it works?

The LED does not illuminate when the wifi switch is on?
Is it normal when the driver not installed? FN + F8 has no effect? Again the ths is normal without driver installed?

Thank you in advance, I'm completely stuck here... Matt

    Hello

The PA3362U 1MPC seems to be a network wireless Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG MiniPCI Type 3b card. I think it is s ok and should be compatible.

The WLan driver should be found here:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/
Take the Intel PRO/Wireless 2200/2915 driver.

    > I plugged these as follows... more long wire to THE & shorter wire by HAND (on map)? Does this sound correct?
I put t know which wire is short or long, but the two sons are different in color.
Should the white cable goes to the hand and Brown to the auxiliary voltage

    See also this thread:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?MessageID=45273

    > How could I not if it works?
Well, you will not be able to connect to the Wlan ;)

    > Is - this normal when the driver is not installed? FN + F8 has no effect? Again the ths is normal without driver installed?
You should check if the other FN keys work correctly. If other n t FN keys work then Fn + F8 does not work too

PS: you can activate the WLan also in Device Manager-> properties-> tab advanced Wlan card
